Well, you've read the notes, the notes dialed 'n' for notes, and now it is time for you to post until the closing cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: VEGETE!
-
First post after BK!

Second post after BK!

~~~Excellent Vibes and Xylophones for Tuesday for BK!!~~~
-
My favorite three-act play is WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF. It was originally produced in 1962, so it isn't quite a 50's play
-
Excellent vibes and xylophones for Tuesday!
-
Good morning to all
-
Vibes and xylophones for BK from Midtown NYC, too!
-
The only three act play I ever saw was Noises Off which wasn't from the 50's.
-
Good morning, all!
I found this info on kidney stone symptoms, and except for the blood in the urine, I think it's what floored me on Friday:
People who have kidney stones often describe the pain as excruciating. The lower back, abdomen, and sides are frequent sites of pain and cramping. Those who have kidney stones may see blood in their urine. Fever and chills are present when there is an infection. Seek prompt medical treatment in the event of these symptoms.
-
I have put the laundry in the washers and I need to talk to Fed Ex about a pickup for tomorrow.
-
DR vixmom, when DR johnG mentioned seeing Lady Macbeth, my first reaction was, my evil sister-in-law is in Louisville?
-
My beloved sister-in-law Jo told me that when Macbeth brought her his Ohio Property Tax check, he was pissing and moaning that I had been in Ohio and hadn't reached out. I told her not to tell him I was coming back in two weeks.
-
Three-act plays from the 1950s?
Inherit the Wind
Look Homeward, Angel
The Matchmaker (although it's a revision of a 1930s play)
I cannot now remember which plays had two or three acts.
-
T.O.D.
CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF
INHERIT THE WIND
WITNESS FOR THE PROSECUTION
THE BAD SEED
STALAG 17
THE DESPERATE HOURS
-
Good morning, all.
-
I, too, hate it when hotels charge you for wifi. It's like charging you for luggage on an airline. Just include it in the price.
-
DR vixmom, when DR johnG mentioned seeing Lady Macbeth, my first reaction was, my evil sister-in-law is in Louisville?
I didn't think about that until I posted here.
You won't necessarily see blood in your urine. It's apparently a chronic condition with me and it's not noticeable. But you could also have a urinary tract infection if you did have a kidney stone, so I would have yourself checked out, Elmore.
Good morning, all.
TOD:
These are all 50s plays. Can remember if they had two or three acts.
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
A View from the Bridge
Long Day's Journey into Night
The Chalk Garden
My 3 Angels
-
I'll crib off of everyone else's paper and take all of those plays.
What's sad is that I can't remember the last three-act play I saw that was presented in three acts.
-
Oh, and in case anyone hasn't noticed...
It's a Monday.
-
Oh, and in case anyone hasn't noticed...
It's a Monday.
And it's been Monday-ing all over me so far. I need an umbrella.
-
The Fed Ex is ready to go. Three days after booking, and I am still waiting for an American Airlines confirmation of my trip. AA assures me they have sent it.
-
The laundry is in the dryers.
-
DR John G, I believe A View From the Bridge is a long one-act. Didn't it premiere with A Memory of Two Mondays?
It's another of the Arthur Miller smug middle class plays I detest. He wants to write a Greek tragedy, and he doesn't or can't shock his audience. If he were the fearless Tennessee Williams, Catherine would have been Eddie's daughter and not his niece.
-
...and the mites are on the spruce.....
-
I always get here in time to start Page Two.
-
...and the mites are on the spruce.....
Only when the frost is on the punkin.
-
Not much happening today, which is fine with me.
TOD:
Dial M
The Bad Seed
Look Back in Anger - although that may be just two acts
-
Page Two Streetcar Named Desire Marlon Brando Dance.
LOL DR ELMORE which will be sooner than we think.....
Nice review MR BK!
-
I'm off to City Center. Laundry is finished and semi-put away.
As I said, I can't remember which are three acts or not. But I saw a powerful production in Albany years ago. Unlike A Memory of Two Monday's, which I didn't care for.
Joseph Bologna has died.
So did I 😁
I propped the pillow up high last night and slept soundly until later 6:15 when the loud sound of either a car alarm or a car backing up noise woke us up. It went on for a long time, other noises as well.
-
I did not bring warm enough clothes for the coast. I might have to buy something today 😊
-
Monday afternoon greetings! My sister, her daughter, and I vacated Mom's room and turned in the key about an hour ago. Meeting with Rev. Amy soon and then with Melody, the caterer for Wednesday's lunch. That event will take place here at our house, but I don't want to do the cooking.
-
I did not bring warm enough clothes for the coast. I might have to buy something today 😊
Oh, darn!
I have been named a member of the Fellowship of the Order of Omnium (FOO) by the online Anthony Trollope Society because I have read the author's 47 novels and miscellaneous travel books, short stories and more. FOO doesn't have the same ring after one's name that Esq. does, but I guess I'm just a FOO bird.
Ditto. Actually, I've been in Noises Off, I've never actually seen it from the audience.
I found a best I am going back for. We stopped in the hotel room and I removed a couple of layers that chill make the vest less bulky
-
Sorry, I can't fix the last post using my phone
-
This morning we found a delicious oat bran raisin bagel. We plan to return for more tomorrow before we leave.
-
Keith said the noise this morning was a septic removal truck at the business next door. You would think it would not be permitted so early.
-
Congratulations John
I'm up, I'm up - around six-and-a-half hours of sleep.
Most plays of the 1950s were three acts, whether comedies or dramas. I find it hard to believe that Shayne has never seen one. Dial 'M' is a perfect example, along with Tea and Sympathy, The Seven Year Itch, Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter (The Bad Seed is a two-act play), A Raisin in the Sun, Bus Stop, Born Yesterday, No Time for Sergeants, and The Rainmaker, to mention a handful off the top of my head.
I have seen The Rainmaker. There was a very good local production quite a few years ago. I kept thinking that as good as it was, I wanted to hear the songs from 110 in the Shade...but I'm sure that that was just me.
;D
-
Speedy Joshie has made all my corrections to the score before I even got home from City Center. I'm starting to get excited about this piece.
That sounds quite wonderful...taking something off the shelf, having it seem new, and finding you like it!
We have stayed in Monterey for the day skipping a stop in Carmel this trip. We might do the same next time we drive through here. We have enjoyed walking around the pier and sampling clam chowder. We are currently sitting on a bench overlooking the rocky shore line on the historic rail trai.
-
Keith is trying to post a video on Facebook of the Harbor Seals and Cormorants we saw. The video would be more interesting is they were moving 😀
I called my doctor today since they called me Friday to tell me I would have surgery to have my port installed on WEDNESDAY and my infusion was supposed to start on TUESDAY.
That office was surprised and said they would get back to me.
NOW I will have my surgery on Wednesday morning to put in the port and then have my first chemo infusion at 1 p.m. the same day.....at the hospital in Indy...although the further treatments will take place in Mooresville.....my Home Town.
The doctor didn't want to wait another week to start, and they were not sure I would be able to get down HERE from the hospital in time for the treatment to be done....I guess it's four to five hours including the observation time.
So WEDNESDAY will be a very LONG day for me....and my driver.
DR Jane, I loved Monterrey when we were there 2 years ago. Based on our drive through Carmel, I'd skip it forever.
Thank you, DR JRand. Two more steps - minister and caterer - and I've quit for today.
II was always enjoyed Carmel, walking the streets and the beach especially with Sherlock, the shops and all the good restaurants.
Without Sherlock we are preferring the change that Monterey offers. We wouldn't mind a second home overlooking the ocean.
-
There is a multitude of restaurants walking distance from us yet our friend wants us to drive 10 minutes to try a new Italian restaurant. We have a very long drive ahead of us tomorrow and would prefer to walk today. Oh well ;D
We saw a beautiful lone white poppy today. I attempted to share a photo from the Internet but it won't post. It seemed odd to see only one. We saw plenty of yellow poppies.
Beautiful poppies, Jane. I don't think I've ever seen white ones before.
-
Funny. There were two links today to Rodgers and Hammerstein musicals online. One was a bootleg of the recent King and I. Very well photographed but it bored me to no end, and Kellie O'Hara was too mannered for my tastes. I cut it off after 45 minutes.
I've now started the BBC Proms version of Oklahoma! And it's far more to my liking. I think I'll listen for the next three hours.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Congrats to Bk on a very successful show and run.
-
Congrats to John G, who, as far as I know, is the first resident HHW FOO!
-
Coping vibes to DR Ginny.
I find going through the loved one's things one of the most difficult. So many memories. I know you went through much of that when your mother moved into the assisted living home, and the rest the other day. Now that task is done.
It will get easier with time.
-
Continued MEGA vibes to JRand.
-
Our weather has cooled to the low 70s. Perfect, as far as I'm concerned, but very fall-ish, not at all August-ish. Much better sleeping weather.
-
I have no other news.
TTFN.
Thank you, DR Jeanne. Mom has been downsizing gradually for about 7 years, so it's been easier for us than for someone who has to clear out a lifelong family home. There's still a bit of stuff here, more going to Michigan and Illinois, and a lot was left behind for the thrift shops at the retirement community.
-
I have received news today that my nephew is coming from Michigan after all and my cousin is coming from Georgia. The most stunning news, though, is that the daughter of some longtime family friends (both now deceased) is coming from northeast Ohio. Mom would be so pleased.
-
Thanks, everyone.
DR JANE my sister Paula will take me...and my brother Mike may be along as well....
-
Good evening.
Hugs to DRS Jrand and Ginny.
Feel better, DRs Elmore and John G.!
Thank you, DR Laura.
I'm fond of handwritten scores, but it's incredible what that boy can do in Finale! :)
Best vibes and wishes to DR Jrand66 on his next step!
Just got back from seeing DUNKIRK (finally!) in 70mm IMAX. Absolutely amazing.
-
Had a very good run-through with Robert - he's learning how to pace himself during the act and how to breathe, two very important things. I only had a few notes and a couple of adjustments.
-
Then it was an exhausting work session with Lanny and Richard Allen. In Levi, there are a series of sung letters that the lead character writes. I added several of them to make it a runner, but the two that were actually in the show each had different music. I really did not like the opening letter's music, the first music and singing we hear in the show, because it was in a minor key and sounded like a rabbi doing Yom Kippur or something. The letter that I now have opening act two (it used to come later than that) had completely different music in a major key - after struggling with this minor thing for ten minutes, I made the decision that all the letters will use the major key music. All the lyrics scan correctly for either the major or the minor and now I'm finally happy with the way the show will open. Lanny had some good ideas, too. Richard had done on his own an arrangement of the song I wrote with Richard but I'd seen the sheet music already and knew it wasn't right - so I'd done my own over the last few days and played that and they both really liked it and Lanny improved it in a couple of places.
-
Not sure if I'm watching anything this evening.
Finished watching Oklahoma! After the weekend's events, it was something that I felt right internally. It was the right prescription for patriotism, now as it was in the 40s.
Robert Fairchild was wonderful as Will. I watched him in An American in Paris but he didn't impress me there like he did here. And Nathaniel Hackman was in fine voice as Curly.
Wow I am surprised. When I had my port put in it was an all day affair and I needed to wait a week before they would use it. They must have improved techniques
Safe travel vibes to Jane and Keith!
Here I am, all alone!
Not even any Guests to bother.
A pretty day here today.
-
Actually, it almost seemed chilly.
-
I guess I didn't think of INHERIT THE WIND as a three-act play, because we did it as a two-act show.
-
Still, I do like:
BUS STOP
CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF
Actually, LONG DAYS JOURNEY INTO NIGHT is a four-act play.
