Title: NOTES ON A PERFECTLY REASONABLE DAY
Post by: bk on September 10, 2017, 12:00:37 AM
Well, you've read the notes, the notes were perfectly reasonable, and now it is time for you to post until the perfectly reasonable cows come home.

BK, I am glad you warned me about WHATEVER HAPPENED TO MONDAY.  I have been debating whether or not to watch it.  Now I think I'll pass.

What an awful, awful movie.  I do like Noomi, all seven of her.  Willem Dafoe probably worked one or two days and is third-billed, and Glenn Close probably worked three days at most - she has about ten minutes of screen time, probably.  I kept waiting for someone to shout out "Soylent Green is people."  Oh, and of course we get the obligatory vomit scene, many scenes of people's heads being blown apart by gunfire, and a sex scene.

Hi all.  As of 10:25AM everything is still ok.  It's raining but not hard--yet.  I'm as ready as I can be.  Thankful that I thought to do all of my laundry which ensures I will have plenty of clean underwear.  I'm sure I will be changing it severeal times when the storm gets here. ;)

If the cell towers stop working it might be awhile before news gets through which is frustrating.

Sunday afternoon greetings!  On my way to the bathroom at 5:30am, I went a little wide around the foot of our bed and smacked my right little toe on Richard's desk chair.  Paramedic Rob is pretty sure it's broken, as am I.  I did almost the same thing to the same toe about 23 years ago and this feels just like that.

San Antonio Opera staged it. The audience was quite appreciative. Greer Grimsley was Macbeth and Nadja Michael was his good lady. The full San Antonio Symphony performed the score.

The production was set in the 1930s, and Lady Macbeth was costumed like Evita. Thankfully, they didn't carry that too far. There was nothing Juan Peron about Macbeth except his initial reluctance to murder.

I'd never seen the opera before, but I've seen two Shogun Macbeths, plus Kurosawa's movie; one goth punk musical version set in the future; one set during the Spanish Civil War; one that of some indeterminate locale; and two movies that were supposedly of the right period.

Well, Forbidden Zone has just ended. Yawn. Susan Tyrrell, one of the weirdest actresses ever, gives a truly deranged performance, down to her musical numbers. But the rest, including Herve Villachaize as the King of the Sixth Dimension, have little to do.

The one song I liked, Pico and Sepulveda, appears to have been partially written by Jule Styne.

Go know.

I have yet to watch the Kurosawa film but it's sitting here waiting for me and I do look forward to it.

I had to sit through a goth punk one that someone did at one of the college campuses around here around 2000/2001.  No idea whose it was or if it could possibly be the same one.

I figured it must have reduced in strength because all of the Facebook dramatic posts have stopped completely.  The worst I've heard is rain, a few power outages, and wind.  I haven't heard of any damage yet, so that's a good thing.  But remember, just two days ago this was CATEGORY FIVE and the end of the world.  I'm hoping and praying it just keeps dissipating and that all the drama, which, of course, begins with the news channels, has been for naught.  Well wishes for all those in the path.

I feel bad they had too much time to worry about the arrival all of Irma.  Time to prepare was a good thing going but the stress of waiting has got to be difficult

I watched HIDDEN FIGURES last night, and even though I was assured by people that is was NOT going to be what I thought it was.....it WAS what I thought it was going to be.....

The book is better, but, then, they usually are...

I did read the book.  From the trailers, I could tell that the movie was going to be very different than the book.

After today's matinee, my friend Margo and I went to Mercato's and had their Caesar salad.  It was quite delish.

She wanted them off  because the sliding doors don't open enough to be able for her to easily get to her clothes, so removing the door makes it much more convenient.

I then came home and finished the book that I've been reading, "Skin Game" by Jim Butcher.  It's the latest Harry Dresden novel.

After finishing the book (it only took me about a half hour), I promptly fell asleep for about three hours!
