Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of the garage, and now it is time for you to post until the garage cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: LEGERITY!
-
First post after BK!
-
Those are great photos, Bruce.
-
Agreed! They're really cool!
-
And now, I'm off to bed. I have no plans for today other than TV watching and laundry doing. My sister wants to go to the newly remodled IKEA, so I may go with her. I'm sure we'll be back in time to see the first episode of the new "Star Trek Discovery" TV show. It'll be the only episode broadcast on regular TV. The rest of the series will only be available on the CBS All Access pay-subscription service. :P
-
Good night and have a good day, all!

Good morning to all

I had missed reading about this, however, I noticed Keith put it on our calendar 😊
-
And I'm in pre-production for my new play. I am also working on an Indiegogo Campaign.
-
Good morning, all.
-
An early one for me on a Sunday, as I am making some rounds today -- the best of which will be dropping in on our DR Elmore.
-
Ask BK:
Which Brahms piano concerto, #1 or #2?
I haven't listened to these in a long time, but I'm thinking #2 is the more immediately likable of the two, or the most well known.
-
WONDERFUL scans in the notes.
I only ever got one telegram in my life, and it would have been in the summer of 1968. I've regretted for years that I never kept it. I know I did for a little while, but it must have been gone within a couple of years. Also, it wasn't like BK's where they paste the message on the paper. It was printed directly. Still, a real telegram.
-
My favorite photo in the notes is the one with the big smile which is larger than the big initial ring.
-
(My telegram was the Meadowbrook School of Music in Rochester, Michigan (hi, DR Ginny) telling me I was admitted into their summer program. Which wasn't a huge deal, as most people already knew they were in, and it wasn't like it was a big application process or anything in those years. Still, I have always remembered my pleasure and excitement the afternoon it arrived.)

Chas - what a gorgeous story about I DO! I DO! and the anniversary couple!
-
Good morning, all!
-
DR ChasSmith, that was a wonderful story about I DO! I DO!
-
I am a mess today. I went to bed at 11, slept until 1:15, then lay awake until 3:00 or so. I'm up and moving about but I keep thinking, I need another bit of sleep. After nodding between 8:00 and 8:45, I decided to get out of bed and get some coffee.
-
DR vixmom, you;re right about Siamese cats. I could see ours think before she did something. If you made her angry, you could see it and hear it in her voice. She was one smart cat.
-
Good morning, all.
-
What wonderful notes! I loved all of the photos! Such treasures!
-
DR VIXMOM I am sorry to hear about the loss of your friend - my condolences to all....
I also loved your honeymoon story! Have a good day today! Rejoice!
-
DR CHAS SMITH also had a great story about the honeymoon couple from 50 years ago! Very nice!
-
More weather in the 90's today.... In a bit I shall check my chrysalis collection to see if I have anymore butterflies.
-
DR VIXMOM I am sorry to hear about the loss of your friend - my condolences to all....
I also loved your honeymoon story! Have a good day today! Rejoice!
Ditto!

On my trip up from the basement, the elevator stopped twice between floors. I pressed "close" and it continued to three. I fear this bodes ill for the next week or so.

Yes, two great honeymoon stories.

DR Vixmom, my condolences on your loss. It was a very moving story about your friends.

It was, indeed. Thanks for sharing it.

Last night's symphony concert was a mixed bag. Olga Kern played Rachmaninov's Piano Concert No. 2 and followed up with a short Mendelssohn piece as an encore, both wonderful. And Debussy's Afternoon of a Faun was nice. But Berlioz's Symphony Fantastique didn't seem to fit the rest of the program.
Back in college, I loved the Berlioz. Now, it just seems silly fun. Certainly nothing much after the Rachmaninov.
-
But the crowd loved it. And they had a fairly full house.
-
I have a crock pot with faux feijoada in it for an office potluck tomorrow. The smell is intoxicating.
-
Sunday afternoon greetings! Rob and Mary Linda and I just came from the house next door, which is for sale "by owner," the estate of the 97-year-old woman who died on Palm Sunday. They're having an open house today and we just went for a nosy neighbor peek. Needs a lot of updating, but we hope they get the price they're asking.
-
Loved the I DO, I DO story, DR ChasSmith! I also have one from 1967: Mom took me for my first visit to NYC and we saw CABARET. We waited at the stage door afterwards and it was right next to the I DO, I DO stage door. We saw Robert Preston and Mary Martin come out and get into a limo together. When I close my eyes, I can still see them waving out the back window of the car.
-
Here is the house that's for sale next door:
9 Alamo Road (http://dayton.craigslist.org/reo/6308224787.html)
In the last photo, you can see the back of our house above the garage.
-
Here's an even better photo of both houses:
-
Nice view, too bad your upstairs neighbors can't buy it.
-
Very lazy Sunday. Went to church. Had lunch at Third Generation: Fried chicken, rice/gravy, black-eyed peas and mixed greens, w/cornbread. Chocolate layer cake for dessert. Modest portions of everything.
Have a slight headache behind my right eye. Don't know what the cause is. Possibly sinus-related.
-
Busy week ahead. It all culminates Saturday with a wedding in upstate SC on Saturday afternoon. Sigh.
-
Nice view, too bad your upstairs neighbors can't buy it.
They're not quite ready for that step, DR Jane.

I was wondering about that, myself. Someday!

Those are some nice looking houses, Ginny. I like the look of brick houses. :)

Good luck, Michael!
-
BK, those are some very nice pictures in the notes!
-
Do you still have that ring?
-
Well, since I have no set plans for today, I figure that it's time that I attend to my morning ablutions since it's almost noon.
Be back later.
-
It was a busy morning at church
-
Just about everyone of us greeted each other with some version of "its not the same without Ray"
-
But we had coffeehour ( I set up and others took ca re of the serving and clean up)
-
I took care of clearing and re setting the altar for the next two services
-
And I attended our small group meeting with our associate Pastor

Watching Raging Bull for the first time, I think, since it came out. The movie is admittedly wonderful, De Niro is outrageous, but I had forgotten how effective Cathy Moriarty is. And she looks perfect.

Condolences to Ray's family and his church family...

I had a lovely visit with our DR ChasSmith and now I am back to the housecleaning. Oy!
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Was something going on in the heavens last night? I woke up at 3:45 and could't go back to sleep. Particularly annoying since I didn't have to be anywhere and could have slept as late as I wanted. Ugh! I NEED my sleep!
-
Bruce, you mentioned getting rid of 15 or 20 boxes and having another 15 to sort through. How did it all fit in the garage??
My mother was the queen of the closet-stashers. When she'd open her closet in our den things kept coming and coming and coming. It was like the magician pulling all manner of things out of a hat. I swear I don't know how she got it all in there. I need to take a lesson or two, as my closets are all COMPLETELY full.
-
Upper shelves, stacked high.
-
DR George, I would NEVER throw a book in the trash! But sometimes one must cull. I try a lot of new authors--novelists--who I don't care for enough to read more of. Those books I can part with. I was so glad to find a local library that accepts donations--many of then do not. Maybe only the ones who do book sales want donations.
-
I'm up, I'm up - I got ten hours of needed sleep, got up, and immediately was consumed with having to re-up the HHW and Kritzerland domain names for another five years, and then adding more perks - I think some of these perks in this campaign have out-perked other campaigns. I just added a first edition mint copy of the coffee table book The Gershwins - this copy signed by over fifteen people, many deceased, but including Bette Midler, Larry Kert, Frances Gershwin, Irving Caesar (Tea for Two), Doug Henning, Robert Alda, Hazel Scott, Avon Long, Elizabeth Ashley, William Bolcom, Kay Swift, Barbara Cook, and others. It's amazing, truly.
-
DR Jane, I was only cleaning the shower grout, not regrouting. I do leave that to the landlord.
-
MR here is Annette backing her T-Bird out of her driveway in Studio City - is that your house across the street?

Gawd! I don't know how the building manager can live with herself.
Vibes the elevator continues to work, despite its protestations.

Hi all. I just thought I'd stop by for quick hello and wishes that everyone here is doing well.
I don't have much news. At least not good news. Still job hunting. It is a lot harder to find one at my age then I would have thought. I've had several interviews and told I did well but it never translates in an offer. Sigh.
I have another interview on Tuesday and heard from another company that states they are interested and will contact me on Monday for a possible interview. All I can do is keep trying.
I guess I have to let you know about David. It turned out he was a cat fish. I would not have believed in him had he not called me so many times when I tried to break it off with him when I couldn't find a job right away. He called over 20 times until I picked up and said for me to never not speak to him again because he loved me. He knew I didn't have any money, didn't ask for any but it turned out he was not the person he said he was.
Well, no fool like an old fool, right?
On top of all that, my tooth broke last Sunday and I'm having to get a crown. Like I can afford that right now.
And the good times roll.........

They're not quite ready for that step, DR Jane.

Good. Have you found something that actually gets it clean? It is not easy to do.

I have to tell you that it's amazing how much stuff you can store in a limited space, especially when you box it and stack it. I found stuff in my storage I didn't have any memories of ever getting. And much of that I had forgotten I had bought.

And that's the truth.

That's a very good idea. I know of only two in my area, but one of them is quite convenient. I'll keep it in mind.
-
DR Jane, I was only cleaning the shower grout, not regrouting. I do leave that to the landlord.
Good. Have you found something that actually gets it clean? It is not easy to do.
Yes. I use Trader Joe's All-Purpose Spray Cleaner, which I use for many things. Take a small section at a time. Spray on the cleaner, then LET IT SIT a minute or two. I then use a bottle brush and rub the grout. Rinse. Sometimes you have to repeat. It's easy, nontoxic, and not smelly. I used to really work at it! No more.

I agree with Jane. You took a chance. You knew it might not work out. Nothing wrong in that.
I hope you find a job you're happy with. What's happening with the lawsuit?
-

I like that idea.

Jeez, I hope by the end of the week the cleaning is over. I am exhausted, my head is full of dust and my nose is full of crap. I have one more thig to do rtonight and then I a heading for bed.

DR JEANNE I think you asked if anything was going on STARWISE....Mercury, Mars, and Venus are all in Virgo for the next couple of weeks.....things are working against each other, so just as we solve one dilemma, up pops another - if we even get as far as solving a dilemma....
The first quarter moon may impel us to act in "crisis" mode to move ahead.....it might be better to wait a few days and see what happens....things may indeed work themselves out by October 1.....
HOWEVER changes for the better in diet and health, exercise and medicine are all indicated. Pay attention to advice you get in these areas.

I just watched THE HEIRESS. I had never seen it.
I gave ENDEAVOR another try. I'm still not crazy about Shaun Evans as a young Inspector Morse, but I enjoyed the episode. I'll watch more. I like Inspector Thursday.

No, her house was on the same side of the street as mine - mine is the northeast corner and hers was the northwest, where there is now the ugliest house in creation. Her driveway wasn't actually on the street where our addresses are, as mine isn't. It was on the east/west street and the house in the photo is still there and the chimney and its two adjoining windows looks exactly the same although everything west of that is now covered by a big old not see-through wall. If you hard-panned left from this photo and looked across the street you'd have my house.

Page four? Really?

Perks and more perks - finding such fun stuff - and I think I'll leave it where it is and as things get bought up I'll replace them with other fun things.
-
I've also written half the commentary and even though I'm tired, I'm taking a little break and then at nine I'll continue to write and maybe even get them finished - that would be a very good thing.

My library will take donations on the condition that if they don't add them to the collection, the items don't have to be returned. Some things we get (and other purchased items that are just discarded from the collection) are made available to be sold at booksales by the various branch Friends of the Library groups), and some other things are sent to a seller who sells them on Amazon for us.

Is anyone watching (or is going to watch) the first episode of "Star Trek Discovery"? I was doing laundry and watching an episode of "Modern Family" from the end of last season before I remembered that it was on. Fortunately, I remembered to set my DVR to record it, so I'll start watching it now.
-
Lens flares abound in the first scene on the bridge. :P
-
Wrote another bit of commentary and realized I had to flip two songs in the show order. Wrote one additional bit and can write no more. Maybe after another hour I'll try to do two more bits of commentary, which would then only leave three to do tomorrow.
-
My laundry for today is done. :)
-
My sister and I didn't go to IKEA. It turns out that she had something else to do that would take too much time, so we didn't go.
-
Instead, I went to Taco Bell for dinner. I had the Fiesta Taco Salad with chicken and no shell. That saves a bunch of carbs.
-
Then, I returned some LED tube light bulbs to Costco. I bought them a couple of days ago, thinking that I could just replace my regular fluorescent tube bulbs in my kitchen for these LEDs, but they didn't work as well as I thought that they should've.
-
Then, I went to Home Depot and bought some regular fluorescent tube bulbs and put those in the fixture and they worked perfectly, so that's finally done.
-
Then, I watched "Star Trek Discovery." I know that the special effects nowadays are so much better than they were during the 1960s when the original series was being filmed, but why does the story line have to be so inconsistent with established Star Trek canon??
-
STD (HA! HA! I just realized what the initials look like! :)) ) is set only 10 years before ST:TOS, but so many things are wrong. Having a woman captain was the specific plot of one of the last episodes: women couldn't be captains...simply because they were women.
-
I know that it shouldn't have been that way, but that was the way of the world at the time that the show was filmed. Also, the Klingons in the new show are completely different than the Klingons that were on the original series.
-
COMPLETELY!! :o
-
WHY?? ?? ??

And Sarek (Spock's father) is on this show. He's MUCH too young here.
-
Anyway, I'm not buying a subscription to CBS All Access just to watch this show. I'll wait for the DVDs to be released (because you know they will), and even then I'll get it from the library.
-
That's just my 2¢.
-
I can't believe I almost forgot about this...I forgot to check my mail yesterday and when I did today, "Fuller at Fox" was waiting there! I just put it in my computer and am listening to it right now as I work on balancing my checkbook! :D

Thanks George. We recorded it tonight. DR Danise was very disappointed. I expect we will feel the same way. I had forgotten women could not be Captains.

I will say that if it were on broadcast TV, I'd watch it...and complain a lot...but I'd watch it. I do like the special effects, except for the damned lens flares.

Good evening!

Page 5? Really?
-
Danise, I'm sorry that David turned out to be a wrong number.
-
Job vibes to Danise!
-
New play vibes for Michael.
Good luck for the fund raising.

One more post.

Wrote a bit more, so only three left and I may try finishing it after I do the notes. I can always futz and finesse it later. I'd rather just not have it on my plate for tomorrow, since most of the morning will be spent getting the Indiegogo up and running. Hoping you all will check it out and take advantage of the fun perks, of which there are many. I just put two more up, actually.

Vixmom, condolences on the loss of your friend.
-
My friends, Sharry and Micheal, took me out to dinner tonight for my birthday.
-
Yes, I know my actual birthday is in August and my AA birthday is 9/14 (24 years), but this was the first time we could arrange a free evening.
-
Besides every day we are a day older, so why not stretch it out for more than one day.

Alone again.

Naturally

Alone again.
No...I'm just (still) balancing my checkbook. I need to enter all the information into my Excel spreadsheet, and that's taking a LONG time. I haven't done it in quite a while, so it's going very slowly. ::)

And I'm on my bed, trying to do this on my Windows 10 computer (which is in my bedroom), so it's very uncomfortable.
