Annabelle's health is returning; at 7:30 she decided I had enough sleep and it was time to feed her. Then, as I was dressing, I could see her sticking her paws into Thatch's cage to touch him. She only cared about his food the last couple of days, so an interest in him again is a very good sign.

I must make a pharmacy trip this morning for my monthly meds and a few other things. When I return I shall have some breakfast, then clean out the litter boxes and vacuum Thatch's cage.
Tomorrow morning I have an annual visit from my HMO's visiting nurse - a dumbass practice that's been going on for the past 4-6 years - and after that, I will open Thatch's door and see what happens.

If all goes well with Thatch's first day as an apartment dweller, then on Thanksgiving morning I will take his cage to the basement and clean it thoroughly so that it can be returned to The Animal Project. I think it will go well.

I have not seen any movie this year that I would recommend.
Of course, since I don't go to movie theaters any more and only view films via Redbox or on cable TV, there hasn't been that many (2-3) 2017 movies I've seen. Those that are available, don't really interest me.

MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH! Thatch is bad about getting to the food that sticks to the side of his bowl, so I got a fork to push the food into the center of his bowl. When I opened the door the Nosy Annabelle jumped in to check out the cage, then ate his food and now she's sitting in his litter box. Thatch is puttering about in a happy mood, his little tail straight up. I think he's happy.

After that, i decided WTF, and Thatch is sprung. He's exploring the apartment. The cage door is open if he wants to go back inside.
And that lasted five minutes! They got into a Big Fight and Thatch is now back to the cage.

I just got an email from my veterinarian-choreographer friend Mike. He's just returned from a family visit and told me he had a kitten from Red Hook, if I wanted it. After this passive aggressive round of Thatch and Annabelle, I'm ready to trade both in for this new one.

So, I decided to keep the cage door open and let him come out if he wants. He's been out twice now and gone back inside. I've created a feeding spot for him across from Annabelle's
I've got to deal with Annabelle's eye drops so I have more hell to go through today.

She got a full-time helper job about three months ago and was trying to do both, but it's impossible and her husband has been helping but that's not what I signed up for and this is for the best - but I now have to find a new helper - she'll train them for two weeks but this all has to happen in the next four weeks, like I don't have enough going on right now.

I'm actually glad about the helper change - since she took this job she just doesn't do everything that needs doing and I'm kind of last on her list now. She's been out of town three times in the last six months, the last time just three weeks ago without any warning.

Well, he's in and out of the cage! Right now he's pit where his food will now be put. After several hissy battles this afternoon, Thatch was eating his dinner and Annabelle pushed her way into his bowl to see what he was having. No conflict at all! We'll see how long that lasts.

I am home from the first part of the root canal. It went smoothly. I never sleep well before my dental visits, and now have the rest of the day to relax.
Traffic driving there was relatively light, but coming home it was much heavier than usual for the time of day. Shoppers? I understand freeway traffic being heavy, and airport traffic heavy, but not the streets I was on.

Thatch refuses to take his medicine. If I put it in a pill pocket, he turns it down; if I crush the pill and mix it in his food, he won't eat it.
Poor Annabelle gets held down, a syringe jammed in her mouth, and the Clamavox shot down her throat. Then I have to hold her down for the conjunctivitis salve to go into her eyes. It kills me to do this to her. Why couldn't they just invent a serum that the vet could inject?

Getting medicine into a cat is HELL.
We had to do the syringe-in-the-mouth thing a few months back, daily for a couple of weeks, and he fought us all the way. One person couldn't do it. I had to hold him in a completely all-encompassing tight grip while Nathan handled the mouth end of things. HELL, I tell you.
Pill results are usually the same as DR Elmore's. Once they learn to identify that particular pill, there's NO disguising or hiding it. This is where dogs are good. You want to get something into a dog? Pretend to accidentally drop it on the floor. :) Well, damn near.
