Well, you've read the notes, the notes were not Shakespearean, and now it is time for you to post until the Shakespearean cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ILLUSTRIOUS!
-
First post after BK!
-
Well, that worked!
-
Shakespeare should never be attempted by the young or the inexperienced.
-
Good night, BK.
-
Good night, George.
-
First post after TCB.
-
Good night, Tom.
-
Time for sleep. 8)
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all.
-
I am up and at ‘em all too early because it’s Tech Sunday, kids!

I enjoyed yesterday’s mentions of Ralph’s supermarkets. I tended to like them, both old and new, and I had a couple of favorites for odd and sundry reasons.
But LA supermarkets were generally interesting places. Two Hughes Markets loomed large in my first years there, followed by a Ralph’s and a Smith’s Food King. Oddly, I can’t remember where I shopped when living in Palms... I sort of recall a Von’s... then moving to the South Bay, it was a Lucky and another Ralph’s, and at that time, Trader Joe’s also entered my life.
In West Hollywood it was a two-block walk to the Mayfair which was great. And at some point I learned of the Ralph’s on Sunset that was THE place to stop in for something late at night, for the people watching. Later a new Ralph’s something like what BK describes opened a block or two from the Beverly Center, and I do remember being at first put off by the newfangled complexity of getting in and out, but I ended up liking it.
-
I think a Ralph’s on Pico was my place when living on S. Beverly Drive.
As ubiquitous as it is, or was, I don’t recall Safeway being a thing for me. Or Albertson’s. What else was there? I did enjoy my infrequent visits to the Gelson’s in Century City. And the Boys’ Market in Marina del Rey, which I’m thinking I found had great doughnuts. And that reminds me I have always missed the Van de Kamp bakery items from all of these.
-
Good morning to all
-
Happy Day Before Cyber-Monday!
-
I never cared much for A MIDSUMMER'S NIGHT DREAM, but I do like HAMLET and THE TAMING OF THE SHREW, both of which I did during my freshman year in college.
-
On my free HBO binge, yesterday I watched the final episode of WESTWORLD, Season 1, and A MONSTER CALLS.
-
Now that we've finished the last of the five audio versions of my one-person plays that were in production, I'm sort of at a loss.
What do I tackle next?
-
What I'd LIKE to do is figure out a way to work with ACX, so that I can tackle some of my multiple character plays on audio.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Call me a Shakespeare fan. Started reading him when I was in second grade. The language was close to the King James Version, which I heard daily back then, so it was easy. In the seventh grade, I really dug in with As You Like It and I found out that the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival was doing it on the park that summer — for free. That lead to Macbeth, Measure for Measure and no turning back.
-
I started watching a film version of Othello last night with Laurence Olivier in blackface and what I guess he thought was blackvoice. Maggie Smith is Desdemona and Derek Jacobi is in the cast.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I wanted to sleep in, and Annabelle decided that 7:15 was my limit. She continued to pester me until 8:15, when I decided WTF and got out of bed. The kitties are fed and i'm on my first cuppa coffwee.
-
Good morning.
-
Rex started at 5 a.m., Elmore.
-
I will shortly take care of the litter, vacuum, and maybe sell a few items on eBay. I have no money, absolutely none at the moment, and God knows when we'll see the second How To Succeed check! Thatch has to see Dr Mohr, and I'm not sure Annabelle is recovering from her infection although I have been most diligent about the Clavamox.
-
Rex started at 5 a.m., Elmore.
If Rex were my cat, he'd need drugs to kill the pain!
-
I am happy to see Thatch becoming more independent. He and Annabelle are eating out of each other's bowls, but she still intimidates him. He was exploring the kitchen area this morning.
-
Page 2!
-
Last night, with only 3 chapters left in my book to read I fell asleep shortly after my last post. I slept almost 8 hours :o
-
I finished the book this morning.
-
Continued vibes for Annabelle and Thatch and DR ELMORE.
-
I like some Shakespearean movies....especially the versions of HENRY V and RICHARD THE THIRD.....but most of them don't keep my interest.....THE TAMING OF THE SHREW is very funny....in most versions.....
-
I finished the book this morning.
What was it? Anything good?
-
I’m up again. Ushering for The Nutcracker this afternoon
-
I have finally finished all my chores. Except I still have had no breakfast.
-
Thatch becomes braver and I do believe he's spending more time today outside the cage.
-
Just finished a 48 minute Skype video call with the actor in the UK who played Errol Flynn my audio edition of FLYNN.
Nice guy. Has a theatrical company there. Hopefully, we can do another audio project together soon.
-
I finished the book this morning.
What was it? Anything good?
The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane by Lisa See. Not a 5 star book but I enjoyed it very much. I am not sure if it is the sort you usually read. You can tell by the blurb if it interests you. Most of the books on China I have read were before or during, or just after the revolution. The book begins in a remote village basically unaffected by the rest of the changes in the country.
-
DR Druxy I hope there is a future project with the actor.
-
This morning, a British Facebook friend sent me the mp3 files for the 1968 British flop musical The Young Visiters, which is really a marvelous score. It's very Upstairs Downstairs and extremely melodic. It reminds me of the wonderful score for Robert and Elizabeth, which had the same orchestrator and conductor, the fantastic Alexander Faris.

I started watching a film version of Othello last night with Laurence Olivier in blackface and what I guess he thought was blackvoice. Maggie Smith is Desdemona and Derek Jacobi is in the cast.
Sir Larry was a great Shakespearean actor and box office draw, and no one thought it peculiar or "racist" that he would don blackface to play Othello. Now it would be a scandalous move to cast a white British actor to play The Moor.
It was still a great production of Othello.
-
In high school I remember seeing James Earl Jones in a filmed production of his stage performance. On returning home, raving about this actor, my father told me it could not compare to Laurence Olivier's performance which my father had seen. Of course we argued how a white actor could play a black person ;D
-
Bruce I have no idea why Hamilton people recall David Cassidy as going there. I did find he graduated from Rexford High. I wish you could ask him :(
Finally, someone else who knew him and said he left in 12th grade.
-
I am packing as best as I can. Keith, who is extremely organized, is a brilliant packer while I struggle with it. I admit, I also take less time packing than he does.
-
I'm up, I'm up - been up for about an hour and trying to get current with e-mails. I think I got nine hours of sleep, and in about fifteen minutes I think I'll go jog, then rustle up some Wacky Noodles.
-
Elmore, I think it sounds like Annabelle is on the mend. Remember how she wouldn't eat anything last week?
-
All the squash casserole was eaten.
-
That's a pretty nice out-of-context quote.
-
We kicked one of the assistants out of Sunday School today.
She is having surgery to replace her knee in 9 days, and we didn't want her near the children. She was scheduled for October but caught a cold and had to be rescheduled. We were afraid she'd get sick again.
Children, although very sweet and wonderful, are full of germs.
-

She's still sneezing an awful lot. I'm more worried that the Erythromycin hasn't cleared up her conjunctivitis. When I take Thatch in - and I think he has it, too - I may ask the vet for another prescription for her as well.
-
I'm happy that Thatch is getting more curious about the world beyond the cage.

Good for you. She should have done this to begin with.
-
I am basically done packing. Now I can spend the rest of the week cleaning.
-
I Am Basically Done Packing - that's the title of my next novel.
-
As was the case with last year, I'm really not sure what I want to write in 2018. Thrill Ride came to me very late in the year, mid-December, so hopefully that will be the case. I do have another Adriana Hofstetter book story that I can do - have had that for some time but I do enjoy going to new territory so we'll see what transpires.
-
Back from trying route number two for jogging - didn't care for it at all, so it will be route number one or variations thereof. And I realized that I'm doing closer to three miles than two-and-a-half.
-
I jogged by my old 1975 house (first house I purchased) - the mofos who bought it at some point completely made it much bigger but totally wacko. The original front of the house is now closed off and the entrance is on the other street (it was a corner house), entrance being where the garage was. They got rid of the garage in total and built to what was the end of it, which means there is literally no backyard in the house. And it's butt ugly on top of it.
-
Making Wacky Noodles now.
-
Page three? Really?
-
Sunday afternoon greetings! We are home from Illinois after meeting my family for breakfast. We left from the restaurant and arrived here just over 5 hours later.
-
I drive by two of my former homes two or three times a week....and if I take a short detour, another one can be seen.... Two of the others have been torn down....and one more is too far away to visit regularly.....
-
I am very sleepy. I doubt I'll be awake for two more hours.
-
Sometimes it is difficult to go past homes we have lived in. I hope you won't have to go past this one too often.
-
Walking on a carpet of yellow leaves, at times it was difficult to stay within the boundaries of the walking path.
-
Fortunately/surprisingly the leaves were not slippery in the rain.
-
Good evening!
-
DR Jeanne---yes, my friends and I are planning on seeing "Levi" on Saturday night.
-
I am happy to see Thatch becoming more independent. He and Annabelle are eating out of each other's bowls, but she still intimidates him. He was exploring the kitchen area this morning.
Good to hear, DR elmore!
-
He's been here nearly four weeks and Thatch is finally showing some spunk and initiative. He's finally behaving like an active little kitten. I could not be happier.
-
Hurray!
-
Wonderful :)
-
OMG! They are actually playing together and chasing each other. There's a lot of running around, then she pins him down, and he yells, then she runs away, and he chases her. I may have a stroke.
-
I think they're playing hide and seek!
-
OMG :) :) :) :) :) :)
-
I'm glad things are settling down. It takes time.
-

It was still a great production of Othello.
I'm watching it again. And I am enjoying it. But I still find Olivier's voice somewhat annoying. I got this from the library because I hadn't seen it and because I saw Orson Welles' version last week. I like the fuller text that this movie offers, but I like Welles' Othello perhaps a little better.

DR Jeanne---yes, my friends and I are planning on seeing "Levi" on Saturday night.
I said it before and I'll say it again: I'm really envious.
-

Thank you. I was wondering this myself and was going to wait until Wednesday to ask.

The Nutcracker was fun, thanks in large part to having the San Antonio Symphony back in the pit and playing the score live. I got to see the first half, which I enjoy watching, and I got to listen to the second half, which I would rather hear than see.
-
Allergies are still irritating the heck out of me. I think something new has blown in.
-
Where is everyone today?
-
I hope they are enjoying themselves.

If only you could find the James Earl Jones one to compare.
-
DR Laura, where did the song lyrics go?
-
We really need to get off this page.
-
Where's Dino and his piano when you need him?
-
I think I need some ice cream.
-
Four!
-
Page four? Really?

BK - How about writing another play in 2018?
-
Jane, your book sounds interesting, but I think it's the type I'd rather listen to, so I'll have to put it on my list. Right now, I'm listening to the latest Girl book, The Girl Who Took an Eye for an Eye, and Manhattan Beach. I also have Jesmyn Ward's Sing, Unburied, Sing, which is a little depressing.
-
I think I need some ice cream.
I was not going to have any today, that was my plan anyway.

I have no plans to read this since Stieg Larsson did not write it. I will be curious of your opinion.
-
Oh, and I did a sample listen to the book I read and preferred reading it.

No more treats for me tonight, unless Keith pops corn but he did that last night.

My mom has continued reading the series. But I sort of feel how you do and have not read any of the extra books since he died. I really loved the original series.

Oh, and I did a sample listen to the book I read and preferred reading it.
I have tried to get into audiobooks. But I dislike them immensely. I was doing a reading challenge and one of the items was an audiobook. I ended up doing a shorter book that I had already read. I think I could maybe get into an audiobook if it was for a favorite author/favorite book/excellent narrator. But for a story that I don't know ... my mind just wanders. I tried one because that narrator was actor Steven Webber. But I could not get into at all. And I could barely understand what was happening (there were a bunch of 3rd person narrators).
-
Good evening.
Said he, who could not be more tired and broken than right now following twelve hours of ALLERGY-RIDDEN sitz-probing and tech-rehearsing.
Oh, wait -- did I mention ALLERGY-RIDDEN?
WTalmightyF?
-
I gotta tell you.
-
BK: When I read the short story book a few years back, I wanted so much for you to write more short stories. I know that isn't your standard thing, but I really thought they were fine pieces.
Someone also said another play. That would be fun, as well. I do like the idea of mixing it up. But hell, I'm fine with another Hofstetter if it's time to pull that one out of the trunk.
-
Watched an interesting documentary on John Coltrane.

I have a lot of friends who can't stand them either. To each his or her own.
I prefer to curl up with a book, but, in my case, there's not enough time for that.
-
I took a break from Othello in order to read. I've started Maugham's Christmas Holiday. I'm enjoying the story very much, though the writing style in this case is very dated.
-
I'm back to Othello and while I can't disagree with the interpretation, Olivier's Othello as cry baby is a bit irritating. It's no wonder this Othello falls into epileptic fits. But I don't like the tantrums and incessant weeping.
-
None of my former houses is completely horrendous to see now, except --
The one my parents owned in Terrace Park (just outside of Cincinnati) in the 1970s and 1980s was not demolished for a McMansion. It was MADE INTO a McMansion, and, like BK's former house, the entrance is on a different side. And the resulting lopsidedness is only one of its problems.
Everything about it is just awkward and wrong. It's the only one of our former dwellings that is painful to see now.

Not necessarily in that order.

Today was football day.
-
Still, I did watch a couple of things.
-
I did, finally, watch Episode 3 of STRANGER THINGS. I guess I am enjoying it more than BK did.
-
Hi, George.
-
I also watched the first half of the Streisand special on Netflix.
-
It was terrific, or rather, she is terrific.
-
I will watch the second half tomorrow.
-
I am just sitting here like so much fish.
-
I did finish the commentary, and all is ready for the CD announcement.
-
Hi Tom and BK.
-
I didn't do another load of laundry today. ::)
-
I did get out of the house, though, so that's good.
-
;)

That's too bad. :-\

Where did you go?
-
I drive by two of my former homes two or three times a week....and if I take a short detour, another one can be seen.... Two of the others have been torn down....and one more is too far away to visit regularly.....
My previous houses are my parents' house and house next to my sister's house. The three local apartments that I lived in are in Lacey, the west side of Olympia, and just down the street from where I live now. I drive by that one all the time, but the other two apartments are a little too out of the way, even though they're local. I've never actually thought about going back to those two. Maybe I will...someday.
-
I did get out of the house, though, so that's good.
Where did you go?
I took myself to dinner at Taco Bell. I brought my Kindle and read a few chapters of the book I'm reading now. Douglas Adams' "The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul," book two of the Dirk Gently series.
-
He's been here nearly four weeks and Thatch is finally showing some spunk and initiative. He's finally behaving like an active little kitten. I could not be happier.

I have a tendency to fall asleep while read I g or to simply let my brain wonder. Finding my place again on an audio book might be difficult. I never got that far on the one I listened to today. I simply didn't enjoy her vouce.

We need to get off this page.

I am reading "Collared " by David Rosenfelt. This is the 16th book in the Andy Carpenter series.

Rather, is that a mystery series?

One more post.

-
Carpenter is a lawyer who loves dogs, has a great sense of humor, and would prefer not to work. When he must take clients he needs to discover who the real culprit is.
-
I recommend the first book, and the best, "Open and Shut".
-
Have you read any of the Flavia de Luce books? She's the main character and is a 12 year old girl living in England in the 1950s, I think. She has a peculiar interest in chemicals...poisons specifically (much to the great disdain of her father and two older sisters), and uses her knowledge to solve crimes. I certainly can recommend them. :)
-
Tomorrow looks to be a little less rainy than the weekend. Probably a good day to run errands.
-
I am still waiting for that first book by TCB to be published.

Good. Tomorrow, I have to drive my mom to Madigan Army Hospital for a minor procedure. My dad was going to take her, but he's not feeling well enough to drive and walk a lot, so I'm going to take her. I'm bringing my Kindle because I have to stay for the whole procedure and through her recovery. It should only take a few hours, so I might be able to go to work for a while in the afternoon.
