Kritzerland is proud to present another classical release, three incredibly beautiful works on one CD:

THREE PIANO CONCERTOS

Marc Blitzstein, Lee Hoiby, Robert Ward

It’s surprising how many wonderful American piano concertos there are, and how woefully unknown and underperformed they are. And the three concertos presented on this CD are three of the best and most interesting, for differing reasons. Two of them, the Robert Ward and Lee Hoiby are loaded with stunningly beautiful melodies, real tunes, and that real American sound. The third, by Marc Blitzstein, is a little different but equally wonderful in its own way.

The Robert Ward Concerto for Piano and Orchestra is filled with gorgeous melodies and played stunningly by the pianist who debuted the work, Margaret Mitchell, with William Strickland conducting the Stuttgart Radio Orchestra. It was commissioned by the Powder River Foundation for pianist Margaret Mitchell. Mr. Ward’s music is instantly accessible, and the piano concerto is one of his finest works. The concerto was featured on the very first Bay Cities release back in 1989 – it has been newly remastered for this release and sounds more amazing than ever.

The first performance of Lee Hoiby’s Concerto for Piano and Orchestra featured John Atkins, the wonderful soloist on this recording. First issued on CD back in 1989, the third album released on Bay Cities. The Lee Hoiby concerto has beautiful and haunting themes throughout, beautifully orchestrated and sounding like a distant cousin of Rachmaninov, but with a distinctly American quality. It has also been newly remastered for this release.

And finally we have the oldest concerto of the three – Marc Blitzstein’s Piano Concerto, written in 1931 when he was only twenty-five. The piece was not premiered until 1986, when the Brooklyn Philharmonic finally brought it to the public. Prior to that it had been heard only twice and both times in a two-piano reduction. And so it remained unperformed while Blitzstein found success in musical theatre and opera. The concerto is a unique and original work, one filled with interesting ideas and unusual touches but one that is still extremely accessible and attractive. Released on CD by CRI, this has also been newly and lovingly remastered with much improved sound.

So, here we have three piano concertos, three American piano concertos, and three completely addictive piano concertos brimming with invention and beauty, in great and definitive performances.

Three Piano Concertos is limited to 500 copies only and priced at $19.98, plus shipping. CDs will ship by the first week of January, but never fear, we’ve actually been averaging three to five weeks early in terms of shipping ahead of the official ship date and we’ll definitely have it to you before Christmas. To place an order, see the cover, or hear audio samples, just visit www.kritzerland.com.

ATTENTION INDIEGOGO CONTRIBUTORS: IF YOU WANT TO RECEIVE THIS RELEASE YOU MUST OPT-IN BY SENDING US AN E-MAIL – SEND TO kritzerland@gmail.com. IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO RECEIVE IT, YOU DON”T NEED TO DO ANYTHING. IF YOU ARE NOT AN INDIEGOGO CONTRIBUTOR, ORDER AS YOU NORMALLY WOULD. THANK YOU.

Then we started the long arduous task of teaching her again how to use the Netflix we set up over a year ago but discovered she hadn't been using because she "didn't have any Netflix tapes to play in the machine"

Of course first we had to change the batteries in her remote and clean  the terminals because "it just stopped working after (insert my brothers name here) used it last and he broke it"... The batteries had corroded ...

A clean and a new set of batteries and we were fine

We arrived home to find the telephone guy on a ladder checking out the pole across the street ... He shouted at us that there was nothing wrong with the pole or wires

Post by: vixmom on November 27, 2017, 04:56:59 AM
I forgot to mention we arrived home the other night to discover there had been an accident in front of our house while we were away... The evidence of said accident were care bits scattered on our sidewalk and lawn abd the street and a leaning telephone pole and cover from the guy wire for said pole lying on our sidewalk

While I made breakfast vixdad had a loooooooooooog phone call with the telephone co trying to explain that someone hit the pole  and that it needed to be looked at as it was leaning and the sharp wires were no longer covered and this corner is a school bus stop

Thatch has finished his breakfast and he's now eating Annabelle's.  He's like a Hoover when it comes to food.  He will eat nearly anything.  Her only reaction was to sniff his butt and walk back to the window to wait for birds
Title: Re: THREE PIANO CONCERTOS

The idiot on the phone wanted to know our account # and was Vixdad calling from the affected phone...  I swear these people have no sense at all they just read a script...anyway he finally got it through his thick skull that it was a telephone pole it failed to take down or pass on the identifying pole number given to him  no less than 8 times

Thatch and I are back from a visit with Dr Mohr.  He's one sick little kitty: conjunctivitis, a heart murmur, and dehydration;  blood was drawn and he was very good.  No crying, no screaming at either the rectal thermometer or the needles.

His temperature is fine (102F), and I have drops for his eyes, which Dr Mohr cleaned out before she checked for any corneal scarring (none!).  Since everything looked good on his ASPCA release forms, I'm wondering if his foster parents need to keep better track of their charges' health.

I think you need to call the rescue group and let them know what has happened.  Heart murmurs can be missed though they should know about that it was.

Chuckling but 55 can feel cold, especially if the sun isn't shining.  You need to know how to layer for it, and have appropriate clothing.

Maybe due in part to the conjunctivitis and any other bug he might happen to have.

Did she say anything about the heart murmur, other than she could detect one? I believe that is not all that uncommon in cats.

I have slept the better part of this day so far, and part of it honestly feels like a Benadryl hangover.  I haven't taken it much lately, and sometimes I'll feel a prolonged or delayed reaction to it.  I'm eating yummy turkey and stuffing leftovers and drinking caffeinated beverages to get the blood moving again.  I don't feel "sick", but I do think it's a combination allergies and light cold.  The second night and morning should tell the tale.

Did she say anything about the heart murmur, other than she could detect one? I believe that is not all that uncommon in cats.

She said it wasn't an uncommon occurrence in kittens, but it was odd the form papers of tests run by the ASPCA before Thatch was turned over to an adoption agency (all tests run, spay-neuter, etc.) mentioned nothing about a heart murmur, and this bothered her.

Speaking of Benadryl, Dr Mohr has prescribed it for Annabelle.  she wants to see if her continual sneezing is from allergies and not from the upper respiratory infection.

I just read this on the internet, how accurate it is I don't know.

Cat Heart Murmurs - Floppycats
https://www.floppycats.com/cat-heart-murmurs.html
Dec 28, 2016 - However, sometimes the murmur is easy to miss if the quality of the stethoscope is poor, the vet doesn't listen long enough, or they are not experienced enough to recognize the sound of a murmur. ... Murmur symptoms can also become more intense if a cat is dehydrated.

I think the dehydrated part is interesting.

From CatHealth.com:
Many murmurs are innocent, particularly those identified in young kittens without any evidence of cardiac disease. They are soft murmurs and usually disappear on their own.

It was Dental Day again. Root planing this time. Same drill: soft foods.

I'm unfamiliar with many of these procedures. My dad lost all his teeth when I was a little girl and I know too well all the discomfort he suffered. As a result, I've always been very conscientious about taking care of my teeth and gums. I just wish I'd known more in those early years. I do feel that my efforts helped to delay the need for the procedures. Had I started flossing earlier and using Closys mouthwash I'd be in better shape.

Well, I need to go to bed now.  I have to get up a couple of hours earlier than I normally do so that I can drive my mom to the hospital.

Have a good day, all!

Well, I got up and got to my parents' house by 8:00 am, when my mom wanted me to get there.  We left her house by 8:10 and got to the hospital at about 8:40 or so.  Her appointment wasn't until 9:15, so we got there in plenty of time.  by about 10:45, they FINALLY took her into the preparation room (I don't know what else to call it) where they had patients change their clothes in little changing rooms, then they took her into the big room just before they take you into surgery.  They got some last minute information from her and from me (my phone number).  I got to leave there at about 11:15 and went to the waiting room.
Title: Re: THREE PIANO CONCERTOS
Post by: George on November 27, 2017, 11:02:16 PM
She was done and dressed and I came in to get her at about 2:00.  It all went very well and she was able to stand up and walk already (she had varicose veins fixed), but I pushed her in a wheelchair.  We went to the pharmacy and got her meds (fortunately people who were being discharged got things much more quickly than people just getting refills or new prescriptions...otherwise, the wait time was three, count 'em, THREE hours!), and were good to go.  But before we left, we had lunch at a Subway that was there at the hospital (the workers there were VERY slow :-\ ), but it was good.  We finally left the hospital, went to WinCo to get some cat food (she stayed in the car and I actually got the cat food), then I drove her home.
