Well, you've read the notes, the notes told you what the new Kritzerland release is, and now it is time for you to post until the new release cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ORPHIC!
-
Here's the full release announcement:
Kritzerland is very proud to present the world-premiere cast album of a brand new Sherman Brothers musical:
LEVI!
Music and Lyrics by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman
Book by Larry Cohen and Janelle Webb Cohen
It would seem nigh unto impossible to produce a new Sherman Brothers musical in the year 2017 but sometimes nigh unto impossible things happen and dreams come true. The musical was and is called Levi! It was written in the very late 1970s but never produced. Not only did it have a score by one of the most legendary songwriting teams in history (Mary Poppins, The Jungle Book, Chitty Chitty, Bang Bang, “It’s a Small World”), it had a book by the cult screenwriter/director, Larry Cohen (and then-wife, Janelle Webb Cohen), who had, a few years earlier, unleashed the world’s first mutant killer baby movie, It’s Alive. The show was about the life of Levi Strauss, the man who gave the world Levi pants. From his coming to America as a penniless immigrant to finding the greatest success imaginable and truly achieving the American Dream.
The 1980s were difficult for the Sherman Brothers and the heartbreak of Levi! sitting unproduced was, yes, heartbreaking. But now, at long last, that wrong has been righted. The show, with a revised book and some additional material, opened on November 17, 2017 in the Camino Theatre on the campus of Los Angeles City College. The audiences loved the show – there were laughs and tears and cheering and standing ovations at every performance. The production had a great set, fun choreography, beautiful costumes, terrific orchestrations, wonderful lighting and sound – and a great performance by leading man, Marc Ginsburg, who was simply born to play Levi Strauss.
The story of Levi Strauss resonates today in a way it didn’t back when the Sherman Brothers and Larry Cohen and Janelle Webb Cohen had written it. It is more timely and relevant now than ever in its story of immigrants being given a chance to make good, in its depiction of horrible racism, and in its depiction of an honest, principled who made the world a better place. Oh, and those Sherman Brothers songs. There wasn’t one person in any of the audiences that didn’t leave humming the show’s anthem and theme, “Opportunity.” In fact, the score is classic Sherman Brothers, filled with catchy, hummable tunes and lyrics that illuminate character and story. It’s a big, old-fashioned musical, the kind you don’t see much anymore – with a musical’s most important attribute: Heart.
Levi! was recorded live in the Camino Theatre and we’re beyond thrilled to give it a CD release.
Levi! is limited to 1,000 copies only and priced at $24.98, plus shipping. CDs will ship by the first week of February, but never fear, we’ve actually been averaging three to five weeks early in terms of shipping ahead of the official ship date and we’re going to do our best at this busy time of year to get them shipped by early January. To place an order, see the cover, or hear audio samples, just visit www.kritzerland.com.
ATTENTION INDIEGOGO CONTRIBUTORS: IF YOU WISH TO RECEIVE THIS RELEASE YOU MUST OPT-IN BY SENDING US AN E-MAIL – SEND TO kritzerland@gmail.com. IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO RECEIVE IT, YOU DON”T NEED TO DO ANYTHING. IF YOU ARE NOT AN INDIEGOGO CONTRIBUTOR, ORDER AS YOU NORMALLY WOULD. THANK YOU.

First post after BK!

I am thrilled about the LEVI recording.

Good night.

I am thrilled about the LEVI recording.
Ditto!!
-
LEVI opt-in e-mail sent!

I'm watching last night's episode of "The Orville." It's pretty interesting. It's kind of like a version of "Brigadoon," but on a planetary scale.
-
During the episode, they showed a commercial for next week's live broadcast of A Christmas Story.. I hope it'll be good.
-
Today at work, we're having our annual holiday potluck and gift exchange. It'll pretty much be a day of eating and not a lot of work gets done, at least before the lunch.
;)
-
And now, I'm off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Thank you DR George.

Good morning, all!
-
I wanted to sleep longer. Annabelle and Thatch wanted food.
-
DR JRand67, I loved your return to the Playhouse. I have no doubt at all that you were missed this past season.
-
There has been an explosion in one of the subways around Port Authority. The news is still vague, but it appears to have been a pipe bomb and the one person injured may have been the person carrying the bomb. I'd like to hope so.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Lots of news yesterday and today...
-
Congrats to DR Jrand67 on his meeting and the directorial assignment!
-
That's a beautiful painting, DR John G.!
-
Will be opting in for LEVI! forthwith!
-
I am working for Encores! today, and I believe that will be most of my work this week. Around 10:00 I will call Joshie and see how his weekend went.
-
I have to vacuum, clean the litter, and give the kitties their meds before I can begin.
-
Page 2 Dance!
-
Good morning to all.

Happy Birthday, Ginny!

$$$ vibes for DR ELMORE!
It would be nice if MY SS check went up $9, but I have received no such notice......maybe they are taking $9 out of mine to give to you, which would be all right.
-
I have received notice that a NEW company is doing my PERF Check from the State - they are using a new tax calculation, so my total may be slightly different. I'm not sure what that means....I will know on January 15.
-
LEVI! has been ordered.
-
A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO DR GINNY!!!
-
A busy week of work, rehearsals, promotion and medical stuff. busy busy
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DR GINNY, MAY YOUR DAY BE EXTRA SPECIAL! 🎁🎈🥂🎂
-
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Birthday Felicitations to my Dear Friend Ginny !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I do believe that Thatch has put two and two together: after breakfast, eye salve. As soon as he finished eating, he went into hiding. Annabelle has had several big fat pigeons eating on the fire escape, so she's rather happy. When I picked her up, she was chirping. That always amuses me.
-
Monday morning greetings! Thank you to BK for the birthday shoutout in today’s notes!
-
Happiest of Birthdays to my fellow Midwestern HHW'er DR GINNY!
Thanks, DR JRand - I’ve now caught up to you, age-wise...
-
Happy Birthday, Ginny!
Thank you, DR Druxy!
-
A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO DR GINNY!!!
Thank you, DR ChasSmith!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DR GINNY, MAY YOUR DAY BE EXTRA SPECIAL! 🎁🎈🥂🎂
Thank you, DR Jane! Richard and I are going to a movie and early dinner, then I have AAUW this evening.
-
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Birthday Felicitations to my Dear Friend Ginny !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you, dear DR Elmore!
-
It's a nice age....however I just read THE MOUSETRAP again, and I realize I am too old for the part I wanted.....I shall look for another...
-
The meds are administered. My choreographer-vet friend Mike suggested that I give Thatch a treat before doing his eyes and then after as well. That Gerbers Chicken Baby Food in jars is like pure heroin to an addict. Thatch gobbled it down. After I administered the salve and rubbed his eyes to get the meds into the system, he was still willing to pause in his fighting and wanting me dead to lick some more Gerbers off my finger!
-
Annabelle fights like hell and she's twice Thatch's size, so once she's swallowed the bitter medicine, she's out. Screw that Gerbers junk.
-
The fun never ends at DR Elmore's place!!!
-
All three of us just played a frenzied game of Da Bird.
-
Vixmom sez:
Be sure your server knows it's your birthday ! ;)
So, vixmom, ma'am.... for the purposes of argument.... let's just suppose I might be one of those weird people whose friends know to avoid condemning him to public humiliations, i.e., restaurant birthday festivities, at such times when I happen to be the victim guest of honor. Is there some good reason I should make an exception to a lifelong practice and submit, just this once, to the Procedure at Texas Roadhouse? :)
-
I'm up, I'm up - seven and a half hours of sleep, I think.
-
Good afternoon, all.
-
Happy birthday, DR Ginny!
-
Well, I must say the Levi orders I woke up to are disappointing - I thought this would be the biggest release of the year for us - everyone was begging us to do it. Maybe the orders will just be steady but right now they're not what they should be. I boosted the Facebook post and got it posted everywhere, but we all know the Facebook algorithms and how screwed up they are. So, share the post if you can.
-

This is such great news. Congrats DR JRand!

I feel like they do something special/different. I vaguely remember when the Vixter worked there that Vixmom described it.

Perhaps people have done all their Christmas shopping and are momentarily "broke".
Certainly sales will pick up soon.

Well, the morning break and gift exchange came and went, and went well. I gave a set of four R2D2 cupcake pans, cake mix and frosting. I got a really nice cloth green bag with shiny green polka dots, and in the bag were four different flavors of Ghirardelli chocolates. ;D
-
And a Very Happy Birthday to DR Ginny!! :D

Here are the very festive sweater and light bulb necklace that I am wearing for the day:

And yes, that's Bowser and other assorted characters from Super Mario World on the sweater! :))

Good morning / afternoon.

I just got a nice residual check from the 1990 movie that was my first screenplay sale.
Actually, because of the way it turned out, it's a film I would prefer to forget, but I shouldn't complain. Over the years, I've made more money in residuals than the movie grossed in theaters.
-
Very late-in-the-day happy birthday wishes to DR Ginny!
-
Dr Mohr is going to add Famciclovir to Thatch's list of medications. Poor baby!
-
Back from a Philly cheesesteak sandwich and a side Caesar salad, banking, and picking up one screener.
-
Excellent sweather, George.
-
Congratulations on the check, Druxy.
-
We had our interdepartmental lip sync battle today. I’m glad I was in the audience. I didn’t know most of the songs and I certainly wouldn’t want to be seen in most of the costumes. You just can’t unsee some things.
-
But it was fun.
-
Excellent sweather, George.
Thanks, John! I just got it at the mall yesterday and it was 40% off! :D
-
I am sure you were the center of attention DR GEORGE.

I am sure you were the center of attention DR GEORGE.
Many people did comment favorably about my ensemble. ;)
-
DR TCB - do you need your Nathan Lane DVD before Christmas?
-
Hmmmm - downsizing now has a new ad campaign.....the pre release reviews must have been like MR BK's.
-
Happy birthday, DR Ginny!
Thank you, DR John G!
-
And a Very Happy Birthday to DR Ginny!! :D
Thank you, DR George!

Richard took me to see “The Man Who Invented Christmas” and to an early dinner at Bravo Italian Cucina. We’ve regrouped at home and now he’s off to a lecture at Miami Middletown and soon I’ll head downtown for AAUW’s December meeting.

Hello, everyone.
-
Happy Birthday to DR Ginny!
May you have a wonderful day!
-
Very glad to hear there'll be a LEVI! CD.
-
Congratulations on the check, Druxy.
Yes, checks are always nice.
-
I like your new sweater, DR George.
-
I just spent the last 45 minutes wrapping coins. I will take $45 to the bank tomorrow in quarters and dimes.
-
I've had a hankering for some enchiladas, so today I drove over to my favorite hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant and indulged. I then stopped at Trader Joe's. Mobbed! More so this year, I think, that previous Decembers. I may have to avoid it until after Christmas. There's a Ralph's nearby that is never crowded.

Do you toss all your change in a jar, then redeem it periodically?

I like your new sweater, DR George.
Thanks, Jeanne!
-
Oh, and I finally remembered to ask my mom about her varicose veins, Jeanne. She had them fixed by ligation. I don't know any more than that. :-\
-
John G, your new painting is very energetic and colorful. You said you commissioned it. Did you choose subject matter? colors? anything?

I don't know what that is, either. Thanks for asking. It was encouraging that she was able to be on her feet so soon. How is she doing now?

She's doing really well. I think she has her final check-up on Friday, then she should be done with all the check-ups.

Good evening.

I had that copied to paste as my quote before I even got to JRand's post.

I have a gallon jug that I put change in, but my credit union has an electronic counter, so no one has to roll coins.
-
John G, your new painting is very energetic and colorful. You said you commissioned it. Did you choose subject matter? colors? anything?
No. Tracey gave me five to choose from that she had been working on. This one spoke to me immediately with its sun, it’s restaurant and it’s colors. I did tell her I was interested in something that said San Antonio.
-
I had that copied to paste as my quote before I even got to JRand's post.
It is brilliant.
-
So is JRAND’s response.
-
Five!

Today in the mail, I received the first complete recording of Calamity Jane (http://castalbums.org/recordings/Calamity-Jane-1995-Studio-Cast/1184/), starring BK's close and personal friend, Debbie (then) Shapiro (now Gravitte).
You can never have enough Debbie (then) Shapiro (now Gravitte) recordings...seriously! ;D
-
My quoting ability here needs work......the way I did it didn't properly credit DR VIXMOM as the source.....as does DR LAURA's!
-

How was the movie?
Loved the casting - Dan Stevens, Christopher Plummer, Jonathan Pryce, Simon Callow - and it was visually stunning. Moved a little slow at times, which bothered Richard more than it did me.
-
Happy Birthday to DR Ginny!
May you have a wonderful day!
Thank you, DR Jeanne! It’s been very nice. Rob surprised me by putting up the outside Christmas lights while we were away this afternoon and my AAUW friends sang to me tonight.

Happy Birthday DR Ginny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you, DR Jennifer!
-
Happy Birthday, Ginny!
Thank you, DR Laura!

We just watched THE BIG SICK.
Very funny, quite touching, movie.
Has a couple of great LOL lines. Had to put the DVD "on hold" until we stopped laughing.
-
Okay, I’ve watched a couple of YouTube videos of Texas Roadhouse birthdays.
Oh, my...
With all due respect, I’ll pass. :)
-
Did I forget to wish Ginny a happy birthday? I thought I had, but maybe it didn't post.
So happy, happy birthday to DR Ginny!
-
Well, it's time for me to leave work and go home. We had our annual holiday potluck here at work, but I have no interest in foraging through the leftovers for some dinner before I go home. Partly because I'm not that hungry yet, but mainly because I don't really like turkey...which is why I don't particularly look forward to Thanksgiving. ::)
;)
Anyway, I'm outta here!
-
Whoops!
Forgot to post this morning
Happy birthday, DR Ginny! All the best to you
-
Back to Dickensian tonight for a couple of episodes. I'm enjoying it in small doses, two episodes at a time. Wish I had time to watch a little more than that.
-
Faced two potlucks today. It's interesting that the food always ends up being remarkably similar: ham, turkey, potato dishes, casseroles, salads (like my potato salad) and sweets. No real vegetables, too many starches.
-
And with that, I'm off to bed.
Good night, all.
-
Watched the screener - The Shape of Water - and then did a Ralph's visit to get a few things. Starting tomorrow I'm under 1200 calories a day until the Do.
-
Where in tarnation IS everyone?
-
Most unseemly.
-
Listening to music as my mind wanders to and fro and fro and to.
-
So, aside from me, no posts in two-and-a-half HOURS? Really?
