DR Vixmom, our house is also chaotic.  Rob and Mary Linda's live cut Christmas tree is in the living room, bare, and their decor boxes are strewn about.  Our artificial tree is in the family room, with lights only, and the decor boxes are on the couch.  Richard and I may get the ornaments on that tree this afternoon.

Annabelle's climbing again.  Last night she nearly killed Thatch when she dropped 5-6 empty CD cases pnyp the chair where he was playing from the shelf she was sitting on near the ceiling.  Earlier in the day she climbed to the top of the bookshelf next to my writing table and dropped a stack of books onto the floor.  When I got up this morning, my two caps I sit on top of a CD case when I'm not wearing one of them were on the floor.

This climbing means she's feeling much better and getting back to her old self, so I'm really happy.

We watched A CHRISTMAS STORY (LIVE) last night. The logistics of staging that production were amazing.

We enjoyed the production...with 2 exceptions:

(1) Whoever that was who did the opening number, we couldn't understand the lyrics. Don't know if that was her fault, or the fact that the music was too loud.

(2) Matthew Broderick is a terrific performer, but except for the very end, there was nothing for him to sing. What a waste of talent.

Weren't there problems with the opening number of GREASE LiVE!  After the opening number of that show, the sound seemed to have gotten a lot better.

We haven't watched last night's show yet.

We drove through Durban on our way to a wildlife sanctuary.   I was pleased we were able to see it, driving through was good enough.  There are many beautiful old buildings the English built back in their day.

If there are any descendants of the English still living in the city it was not apparent to me.

Back from dermatologist -- with no issues, but I'll have a few blotches for a while due to some routine freeze-offs.

Afterwards, had a Sausage and Egg McMuffin breakfast, and I'm finishing that coffee now.  I've got to get organized and go out again to gas up the car and do a bit of shopping.

Very glad to hear they're both getting over their little ailments.  But I'm frankly surprised Annabelle hadn't rearranged the whole apartment long before this.

I think she hates housework.  But she's a huge admirer of the movie Third Man On The Mountain.

Thatch's eyes are both ope today but there is still a lot of crusty gunk around them.  I need to make an appointment for the vet to see him this week

It rained a bit during our excursion today.  The animals liked the cooler temps and the rain which was good for us as they were up and about instead of sleeping.  When we loaded into the 4x4 looking truck the ladder was dry.  It was fine when we stopped and got out to look at the giraffes.   At the end of the tour it was very slippery and I had to catch myself from sliding off with my right arm, the one with the pesky shoulder.  As a result it hurts to type on my tablet so once I am lying down tonight I will not be able to post, the reason I am mentioning it.  No vibes necessary and I am sure I did not to any new damage.

DR Elmore has a beautiful response, in the cast recordings list, to a bizarre post that seemed intent upon trashing the original Bob Clark film of A Christmas Story as being basically worthless.

What is wrong with some people! >:( It's a wonderful classic!

It was an excellent response.

I've been noticing that little Thatch is modeling himself on Annabelle, and tonight, as I prepared their dinners, he was suddenly underfoot, rubbing against my legs and behaving just like her.  Usually he runs from me so this is a Christmas miracle.

The only thing he can't do yet is jump up on the counter and tell me how to serve it.

I think I could teach him how to do that. Leading by example, you know.

I'd pay good money to watch you jump onto my kitchen counter.

And now, I must be off.  I'm working concessions for the free Messiah sing-along.  I think that concessions is only pre-show, so I won't have to be there for too long.  Normally, I'd stay for the whole thing, but I need to come back to work to finish up some things...not for too long, though.

Be back later.

I thought A Christmas Story was fairly entertaining, but of course it couldn't hold a candle to the original.

Rebecca and I had a lovely brunch and she really liked the bag of assorted papercrafting goodies that I gave her for her birthday.  We went our separate ways and met up again this evening with our husbands for a free concert by the Queen City Sisters (http://queencitysisters.com/).  Apparently there are about 9 women involved, but they perform as a trio in different combinations.  If you click on their videos and watch the one titled SWAY you'll see the 3 we saw tonight.  It was a great show!

I used to like to hear The Covered Bridge Harmony Singers - until I had to work with them a couple of times.....I still like SOME of them....but I don't bother to listen to them sing.

Well, these girls did something that made me think they're really nice.  There was a very old woman sitting in the front row with probably her daughters.  As we were about to walk out the door, we heard them singing a special song to her and listening to her reminisce about singing on the radio herself in the 1940s.  They were taking selfies with her, too.

Rainy, foggy and very London-like out there. Which means the driving tonight is treacherous.

For anyone who's interested, I put up audio samples of six songs - VERY rough mixes that are just so people can hear what they're in store for, songs-wise.  They're not even really mixed, just all the tracks open.

You know what?

I’m not one who typically listens to song samples to make a decision.  But I just listened to these, and immediately liked the score — and thereby looked forward more to the recording — than when I’d only heard “Opportunity”.

I hope this factor is a help to those who rely more on sampling the goods before jumping in.

Yes, concessions was only available during pre-show, but we actually got some business.  The hot cider sold more than I would've expected at all, and we only sold one hot chocolate.  We did sell a goodly number of cookues.  There were a LOT left over, though.  This was the last event until the 29th, but I don't know what they'll do with them.  I don't think they'll keep for that long.

I left my house, but I didn't have to get on the freeway at all until it was over, and most fortunately, I didn't have to go that far north.

I would certainly not have been down there early enough to have train cars falling on me, but I certainly could have been stuck in the huge backup heading south.
