I took another shower just after I finished the notes at about 11:45 and I realized what I was missing from the ending - a certain emotional thing that I'd originally written but not about the right thing.  I thought of some good lines and a way to do it, and as soon as I finished the shower, I rewrote the dialogue and it's now much better - it was way too short and facile and I knew it wasn't hitting me in the gut like it had to.  But as I rewrote it, it suddenly did and so I think it's right now and I'll probably smooth it out further in the morning and maybe even add a bit to it.

Thatch climbed into bed with me around 3:30.  I got little sleep between then and 7:00.  He's like a hyper-active child, settling down for a few minutes, then jumping off the bed to return five minutes later, lie down, find a new sleeping position, find another, jump off the bed, return five minutes later, lie down, find a new sleeping position, find another, jump off the bed . . .

Annabelle joined us around 6:00.  She likes to lie on top of the blankets on my feet, and once she's settled, only a miracle will move her.  This inhibits my changing sleeping positions, so I am rather tired this morning.

I love this story!  A New South Wales Animal Shelter had a shy rather unsocial cat, Champas, for 400 days without being adopted, so they started a campaign to find him a home.  They also made him their official receptionist so that he could meet new people every day.  The campaign worked, and Champas become the owner of a young man named Nathan.

I've pretty much decided on who the subject of my next play in THE HOLLYWOOD LEGENDS collection will be.

It's another actress; also somebody that I knew.

After that, I'll probably do an actor who I knew.

But, I'll never tell.

Back into Finale today, learning how to bust through another couple of walls so I can put the finishing touches on these two songs and move on to another.

I've been doing this all on computer up to now, which is slow going but it helped with the learning curve.  Today I'm moving into entering notes from a MIDI keyboard.

The drum part will have to wait.  I'll have to consult with our drummer (who's just picky enough about notation for it to be valuable) to get my bearings there.

DR JOHN G  I think that TONY ROME is Jill St.John's best performance.  She is usually so stilted and phony in her acting, here she is pleasant and straight forward and no "acting" tricks.  I don't know if it was Sinatra or director Gordon Douglas....but I liked her a LOT!

Maybe this role was closer to herself than some of her other roles.

Oh man, those films are a hoot -- TONY ROME and LADY IN CEMENT.  The latter is, unfortunately, a bit ridiculous in comparison to the former, but I found them both a lot of fun when first watching them a year or two ago.  Now I want to see them again.

Finished futzing and finessing.  I'd already done the major part of it last night, but I still added almost two pages and smoothed out a ton of stuff.  I'm pretty okay with it now and am now printing out these forty-seven pages then will go Xerox and get them to Muse Margaret.

Well, Thatch and Annabelle have revolted and stopped eating their wet food.  For a while the Fancy Feast chicken paté, chicken feast, chicken and liver, chicken and beef, and chicken hearts and liver were all they would go near, and now they're turning up their noses at all of that, barely touching it and eating only the dry food.  Finnicky cats!

Yup. That's the one. I looked it up in a Jeanette MacDonald book I have. They weren't too kind about Friml's music, which they said were made up of cut songs and scraps.

Listening now to a Bill Charlap Trio recording I got from the library called Uptown, Downtown. They do a nice job with the title song, cut from Follies. I also really enjoyed their Spring Can Really Hang You Up the Most, an all-time favorite.

A few other songs include There's a Small Hotel, Sophisticated Lady and I'm All Smiles from The Yearling musical.

The only problem is that music is probably better suited for later in the evening, not 5 p.m.

Then I delivered the pages to Muse Margaret and then came home and watched a motion picture (and kept falling asleep).  Then Muse Margaret called - she liked the new pages very much and had no changes save for one question about something.  I read it and she read it, and then I removed it - just gilding the lily a bit too much - literally removing eight words, four from two different lines of prose.  And that's that.  I'll take a day or two, then Xerox the entire book and begin my going through it, looking for typos, repetition that I didn't mean to do, that kind of thing.

I went to a new GI doctor in Portland.  If dealing with the prep wasn't so terrible I would go to Ashland for my 5 year check/procedure.  I was shocked to find out the low fiber, no seed, no nuts, etc diet now begins a week prior to the test.

The new doctor agreed to change the prep drink procedure for me and will let me take it all in one day.  I explained there is no way I can keep the second half of the drink down in the morning.  The odds are against me keeping it down in the evening but much better than in the morning.

DR ELMORE there is a site at www.goodrx.com that gives you the lowest price on any prescription drug.

You don't have to join and or give any personal information.  You might go there and type in your $131 medicine and see if you can get it cheaper.  They list the drugstores it's available at....you can print it out or save it to your phone and use it that way.

I really like Jeanette MacDonald.....I especially like Smilin' Through....a remake of a Norma Shearer movie, and likely an even earlier silent movie....

She sings some nice songs and plays opposite her husband Gene Raymond.....

So, there's a biopic out there called Goethe!

With the exclamation point. Think I'll miss that one.

It can't be any worse than The Great Waltz that I watched yesterday...the 1972 movie with Horst Bucholz as Johann Strauss, Jr.

Of course, all I could think of was: "Put your pants on, Spartacus!"

Do you have a favorite Sherman song written for Miss Annette Funicello?

Finishing up The Road to Spain. It's the best of the trilogy, the funniest and also the saddest, but i don't know that you can just watch this one.

Time to watch something, maybe THE CROWN, with Keith.

I was wrong.  We had a CD from Netflix and watched THE BOOK OF HENRY.

Just sitting here like so much fish, listening to music, Ravel to be specific.  Tomorrow I start eating under 1200 calories a day.

I don't like to count calories.   Instead I weigh every day and if I gain a few pounds I skip things lke ice cream and eat less, especially at night.

My problem is, always, in January when I write a book.  I just eat every minute of every day because it helps me somehow.  Now I have to lose what I've gained.  I have to count calories and frankly I would be too frightened to get on a scale right now.

Back to the excellent book I am reading for my new book group.  Has anyone read GIRL AT WAR by Sara Nović?  It is about a 10 year old girl in Zagreb, Croatia in 1991.

If I wrote a book I would not be able to watch what I ate.  I would probably inhale food.

I'm not ready to mention it, just would be amused by guesses, not that anyone anywhere at anytime could ever guess the title of this book.  I say that with great confidence.  I can safely say that there has been no book ever written with this title.
