I remember seeing the Eye of The Cat in theaters when I was a kid and it scared me. Then I watched it on TV a few years later and they changed for tv. Universal was in the habit of remaking their theatrical movies with newly shot scenes to make it more acceptable for TV.

The "classic" Universal remake for TV was Two Minute Warning where half the movie was cut out, a new subplot was filmed that showed that sniper was a diversion for a nearby art heist and practically no one is killed in the film.

I like this TOD because over the past several years I've become quite fascinated with the distinctions between, and the individual "personalities" of, the studios themselves.  I just don't know how to pull up a bunch of titles for this purpose, and I know if I could see a list of Universal's output, I could quickly put my finger on the films that would answer this for me.  I wonder if it's possible to sort titles by studio and year on IMDb.  I'll give this a look later.

Coincidentally, I was going to mention this Universal film, which DR Michael just referenced, because I just watched it two nights ago for my first time in probably 30 years:  TWO-MINUTE WARNING.  I'd remembered so little of it that it was almost like seeing it for the first time, and what an incredible time-travel couple of hours it provides.

It's the kind of "terrorist" thriller they made in the 1970s, and I can't get enough of them.  The beauty of this one is in the actual filming locations.  Not only do you get some nice ca-1976 Los Angeles, but -- and I went back over it to check this out -- it might be one of the most realistic and "honest" location films I know.  In other words, when a scene takes place at the Coliseum, for instance, or at the Sunset & 405 Holiday Inn, all of the related area shots (streets, freeway off-ramps, etc.) do so as well.  It's rather a marvel in this respect.

I never saw that notorious TV version, but I see it's on the recent Shout Factory Blu-ray, and that's going right into my cart.

Thanks to Wikipedia, I can address the TOD:

Topaz
Torn Curtain
Frenzy
Thoroughly Modern Millie
Madigan
Airport
Play Misty for Me
Two-Lane Blacktop

And for the title alone: Kitten with a Whip. (Elmore, do not show this to Annabelle)

I’m now 2/3 through Little Fires Everywhere. The author is gifted, but perhaps a little too young. All of her adult characters are irritating stereotypes. She goes back to one character’s youth and only then does that person begin to come to life.

I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep - would have been eight if the phone hadn't shot off its big fat mouth at nine.  Today I decide if I'm going to let the landline go because you can change your number a million times and these spam callers will eventually get it.  Blocking is pointless because they keep spoofing other numbers.

I'd like a complete list of the movies Universal redid for TV - not adding cut scenes, but where they shot whole new scenes.  Two Minute Warning is the obvious, but they also did it for Night of the Following Day and Secret Ceremony.

Yes. It’s set in Shaker Heights. It’s gotten rave reviews and it earns them in many, but not all, areas.

Interesting 37 is too young-lol.  I was just a bit disappointed as I thought her first novel, "Everything I Never Told You", was excellent.

There's a filmed version of the opera Tosca with Placido Domingo where they filmed the opera at the locations specified in the opera, and at the times of the day that it's supposed to happen.  They also sung it live while they were filming it.  It's really good!

I usually screen my calls, not answering numbers I don’t recognize.  Last Friday, a call (that I didn’t answer) showed up that made me wonder.  If my number were 123-4567, this call was from 124-4568.  Rob thinks it was coincidental, but I think it looks like some kind of scam.  No message was left, of course.

They’re ALL scams.  I now get spam on my cell phone in which all the calls show my prefix (770-) so that it looks like an innocent “local cell call that must be from someone I know”.  Right?

Sadly, I remember when spam somehow or other didn’t go to cell phones, and then at some point ..... it did.

This morning I helped the church women make individual meals in bulk. Does that make sense? Mostly I washed the dishes as they dirtied them. They made about 50 meals, each individually packaged. So now when someone has surgery or a family emergency or something, we can take a couple meals out of the freezer.

Will have another conversation with Muse Margaret in a bit - not liking what I added yesterday, it feels arbitrary to me and in fact the only thing I did like about it was that it made longer a too short paragraph.  But as I looked at it I think I just want to remove the entire bit - I think THAT will make that section much smoother.  And I think what she was concerned about has already been addressed and she's just not remembering those fixes and doesn't have those new pages.  But if she still thinks it's important it will have to go elsewhere and have a different feel to it.

Right now Annabelle and Thatch prefer Fancy Feat beef, chicken & beef, chicken hearts & liver, and chicken feast.  I just bought some salmon and shrimp combo ad I will see how they like it,  Annabelle is more finicky than Thatch about what she gets.
They do not like the following:
Royal Canin
Wellness

Purina One Beef
Purina One Chicken & Liver

Fortunately, I've RARELY gotten spam calls.  And since I screen my calls and don't answer if I don't recognize the number, they don't leave messages, so I don't have to deal with that, either.

Right?

Sadly, I remember when spam somehow or other didn’t go to cell phones, and then at some point ..... it did.

I've been getting spam calls on my cell phone for maybe a year or two now. Some of them use different numbers so you can't recognize them easily. Sometimes I'm tempted not to answer, but it often turns out to be something important. There's no way I'd know all the numbers of people I need to talk to about one thing or another.

My neighbor Judy brought over a can of Weruva Marbella Paella for the babies to try.  This seems to be the first seafood mix they've liked.

I have a lot of food to give away!

As picky as cats are perhaps you could find other cat owners and trade the unopened cans. Might there be a website for this?  ;)

Then they will find you on your cell phone.

Fortunately, I've RARELY gotten spam calls.  And since I screen my calls and don't answer if I don't recognize the number, they don't leave messages, so I don't have to deal with that, either.

I figure if it IS important (or at least legitimate), they'll leave a message.  And then if they don't, too bad for them.

Talked to Muse Margaret and explained why I thought what I'd added yesterday didn't work - out of character.  I totally understood why she wanted it, but I simply think she doesn't have any of the fixed pages from part one where all this stuff was addressed.  And this just wasn't the place to put it anyway.  But in looking at it I realized I just needed to make a further cut - about a third of a page.  I told her what that would be and it really solved her problem and so I sent the cut to the proofers.

That is great if you can see what the numbers are on your cell phone, plus some family and friends only show their phone numbers and not their names.  I also have a couple of friends who keep their info hidden.

This morning I helped the church women make individual meals in bulk. Does that make sense? Mostly I washed the dishes as they dirtied them. They made about 50 meals, each individually packaged. So now when someone has surgery or a family emergency or something, we can take a couple meals out of the freezer.

That is a lot of dishes to wash.

Years ago Craig's pre-school provided food for Meals on Wheels.  I would take home tv food containers and fill the different compartments with food, returning them the next morning to his school (church) and they would freeze them until delivery day.
