Well, you've read the notes, the notes were woke and deeply troubling, and now it is time for you to post until the woke deeply troubled cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: LENITY!
-
First post after BK!
-
I have no questions.
-
Actually, I thought of one...are there any cast album reissues in the works?
-
And now, I'm off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Jane, what did you think of that version of Nicholas Nickleby? It was the with Nathan Lane, right?
-
Why isn’t it Friday?
That’s not just for BK to answer.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I rose at 7:00, fed the babies, and went back to bed, because I wanted to stay there for a while.
-
It's snowing, and Annabelle seems perplexed by that. The birds are few this morning.
-
More coffee!
-
Good morning, all.
-
SNOW!!!
-
Jane, what did you think of that version of Nicholas Nickleby? It was the with Nathan Lane, right?
Yes. I thought the cast was wonderful and enjoyed it very much. Of course much was left out of the book which was fine. It has been too long since I read it, and I have only read it once, for me too miss anything.

I remember enjoying it a lot, too, though I was bothered in the beginning by how blond Nicholas was. After Roger Rees, I don’t see Nicholas as a blond.

Cute. I don't recall any of our cats being perplexed by their first snow.
All of our dogs, except for Belle who we found as an adult, we're snow dogs. They were all very excited the first time they experienced snow.
-
I, too, have had ENOUGH of these new words - or new uses for old words....especially if they mangle grammar and syntax.
It is almost as though it was a crime to speak and write properly.
I hope to never be WOKE, but then again I don't want to be SLEEP all the time either.
-
The East Coast is supposed to get a LOT of snow. We got our inch or so here, and that is plenty - thank you very much. Now it is just COLD.

It was very light and shiny.

DR Laura:
Have you seen the news stories on this massive crayfish that can clone itself?
-
Wednesday morning greetings! We were supposed to have great-nephew J again this afternoon, but both school districts that employ his parents are closed today due to snow. They're having a nice family day at home.

I think the director Douglas McGrath is Mr Classics-Lite, and while I enjoyed this abridged Nickleby, I think he tends to go for the glamor of stars, humor and camp, as he did with EMMA, than finding the author's voice. I prefer the BBC mini-series and the brilliant Royal Shakespeare company epic.

It is. And I agree. But he makes entertainments, as Graham Greene might have called them. If it gets someone to read the source, so much the better.

Sweet story with super cute kittens.

Follow-up to my coworker’s tire theft story.
Yvette was leaving the gym yesterday when she saw the guy in his car. She started to follow him while calling her husband, a police detective. He took over the tail and got other officers involved. The guy realized he was being tailed, cut across the various lanes of traffic and a chase ensued. He was caught. He had been arrested for robbing vehicles two years ago and the car had all the equipment for stealing from cars in it.

Two!

Awwww . . .

I love this kitten in the Maricopa County shelter, but the description " lynx point siamese" seems wrong. I love Siamese cats and I see nothing resembling a siamese! He looks more like a white tabby with markings.

Well done Yvette and team.

I don't see any Siamese either.

We are Siamese if you please.

I've organized most of my 2017 receipts. Annabelle and Thatch had too good a time playing in the plastic shopping bag of receipts, tasting the paper of the various receipts, and behaving badly in general. Much as I love them I had to be mean and discipline them. Thatch either loves or loathes me, so he promptly ignored me, but Annabelle gave me a genuine "why did you hurt me" look that broke my heart.

Hello. I had a computer accident.

The cats probably especially enjoyed the food delivery receipts.
(Our food sometimes gets here with sauce on the receipts, and I tend to photocopy the receipts if I need them, and throw out the flavored ones.)

Hello. I had a computer accident.
Uh oh, vibes that no data is lost!
-
Hello. I had a computer accident.
I hope you didn’t toss it out the window.
-
It's dead.

The loss of a computer is often grounds for much mourning.

That was a great police story DR JOHN G! Hurray for the great ending - for everyone except the perp of course.

I posted a quote about genius and stupidity here a few days ago, and I attributed it to FB.....then last night I saw that it was a quote from a dear reader here at HHW.....now I can't find it.....

My question for ASK BK DAY is:
Do you have a favorite among the "disaster" films made in the 1970's?
-

I didn't make the connection until just a couple of years ago, but Charlie Hunnam who was Nicholas in that 2002 version was the young twink in the original British version of "Queer as Folk," and then went on to be the hunky hunk (lead? I never watched it) in "Sons of Anarchy." That's some range! ;)

You can't find it on FB, or my quote (below)?

Great story in People on whether cats can count. In true feline fashion, the answer seems to be that cats can indeed count —but only if they want to.
-
It's dead.
Then maybe you should toss it out the window.
-
Actually, I thought of one...are there any cast album reissues in the works?
There are always cast albums in the works.
-

Morning After, I think.
-
I'm up, I'm up. The alarm did not go off, but thankfully my internal alarm went off at 11:50, ten minutes before the arrival of Kay Cole. We had a nice visit for about thirty minutes. Then I've been dealing with other stuff ever since. Of course the Freshly meals have not arrived, thanks to Ontrac. I'm sure they'll show up two minutes before the mail place closes - IF that's the case I'll be there and I think I may just have to unleash on the guy in a rather serious manner.
-
I haven't eaten anything yet - I would rather wait until the meals arrive but not sure I can hold out that long.
-
Hello. I had a computer accident.
I hope you didn’t toss it out the window.
But if she did, hoping she opened the window first.
-
The loss of a computer is often grounds for much mourning.
Yes it is. I prefer to get a new computer before the old one dies. Sometimes I think it has been a close call.
-
Anybody know of any humorous tangos along the lines of The Masochism Tango?

We recently saw him as King Arthur. I noticed over the years his hair has become a bit darker.

Have you tried using a water spray bottle?

Someone in the Manhattan Transfer FB group posted this article about their new album!! "New cut off forthcoming LP marks first new music since passing of Tim Hauser":
JT Track Premiere: The Manhattan Transfer’s “Cantaloop (Flip Out!)” (https://jazztimes.com/departments/songpreviews/manhattan-transfers-cantaloop-flip/)
I'm very excited about this! :D
-
Is anyone around here woke?
-
Is that a test to see if we are paying attention?
-
Ontrac has still not shown up. I'll drive over there around six and wait for the moron to arrive and then he will be sorry he did.
-
Good evening!
-
Bruce, I still don't understand why you don't have the food delivered to your house and put a cooler outside if needed.
-
Because I'm rarely home and I'm not sure they'd leave it or that I'd want it left by the front door. I've complained to Ontrac repeatedly and they don't care. Their driver knows he has a package with perishables and he doesn't care. Why would you make a mail drop place that has specific hours of operation your LAST stop. It's just stupid and retarded. I've had this conversation with Freshly, too, and it's one of the reasons I haven't ordered from them in two months.
-
A shame since you enjoy them.
-
BK .. We're the signed Richard Sherman books sent yet? I never received mine
-
Yes they were sent ages ago. I'll check on yours.
-
Home after a long day.
-
Bird is fed. Cat is fed.
-
Even I have been fed.
-
I helped Joy with her swing and Argentine tango classes tonight.
-
For a second week, they managed to get up and dance.
-
I’m watching the beginning of a movie tonight. Let’s Get Lost, a documentary about Chet Baker.
-
Great black-and-white photography, great stories, great music.
-
But for a jazz movie, the director doesn’t trust the music. Baker will start a song and he’s just at the point of breaking your heart and then some talking head begins to babble over the singing or trumpet playing.
-
The movie gets to one of the leanest, loveliest versions of Ev’ry Time We Say Goodbye, and the clip features the entire lyric. It’s devastating, and I’m on the verge of tears. Then Chet starts an elegiac trumpet solo, so naturally the talking starts. It stops in time for him to finish a reprise of the vocal. But why couldn’t we just have had the song?
-
I mean, why can you listen to a whole song on a CD but not in a movie?
-
It’s a sad movie because it’s all too obvious the toll that drugs had on this once-beautiful boy. His singing remained haunting, but you hear what a toll the effects of the way he lived his life took on his voice. He never lost the gift of his trumpet playing.
-
Slightly topical this week as Baker was the basis of All the Fine Young Cannibals starring Natalie Wood and Robert Wagner.
-
Where is everyone tonight?
-
Page three? Really?
-
Tell me another.
-
Four!
-
Page four? Really?
-
That’s all I can do tonight.
-
I have to be up bright and early in the morning.
-
Got to drive more than an hour to some remote merting site.
-
So, good night, all.
-
No one is here. They're all woke.
-
Huge drama at the Group Rep - I heard about it last night, but today it became a reality and serious. And later I will have a conversation with Doug about pulling our show from their season.
-
DR Elmore, I know those looks from your fur baby can hurt! When I would return from a trip, my baby (Garbo) would be waiting in the entry to greet me, then, quite deliberately, get up, turn her back to me, and sit down again. I would, of course, spend the rest of the giving treats, pats and begging forgiveness. Little stinker!
-
I need some damn treats.
-
Listening to some awfully good music.
-
Huge drama at the Group Rep - I heard about it last night, but today it became a reality and serious. And later I will have a conversation with Doug about pulling our show from their season.
:o Oh, my! I wonder what happened. Can you talk about it?
-
Well, I just got an e-mail with the script for Cinder Edna!
-
And I found out that I didn't have the right dates for the show. ::)
-
I thought that the show was going up at the end of April through early May, but it goes up at the end of May and goes into early
June.
-
That just gives me more time to memorize!
-
...least, the king's lines. Most of the actors in the show play multiple roles, including the king, but I don't know what other parts I'll play until rehearsals start in April.
-

They do get annoyed when you leave for too long. I rated my pet sitters by how forgiving the cats were on our return.
-
That just gives me more time to memorize!
That's a relief. I thought you were building up to a problem.
-
Tonight we watched "The Hitman's Bodyguard". I didn't expect a comedy.
-
I will indeed talk about tomorrow - perhaps not in the notes but definitely here, as soon as I sense which way the wind is blowing.
-
Good evening.
-
Hi, George.
-
I think I a getting that damn cold back again.
-
So far, only the cough has returned.
-
Hi, Tom.
-
But that is bad enough.

The area on my hand between the thumb and first finger is all black and blue. I have no idea why.
-
I am supposed to meet my friend, Sharry, for lunch tomorrow.

If I don’t stop typing and go to bed, my typing skills are going to look like I graduated from the Vixmom Typing Academy.

Good night, Jane,

Good night, George.

Good night, Tom. Enjoy your lunch with Sharry and hope your hand gets better soon!
