Well, today's going to be a day.  First, I want to go into work for a couple of hours to make up some time.  Then, I'll go to my parents' for our weekly family dinner, but I can't stay past 6:30 because I'm ushering for a local production of I Am My Own Wife (https://harlequinproductions.org/season/i-am-my-own-wife/) and I have to be at the theater by 6:45.  I've heard nothing but great things about it.

TCB - is it possible they don't allow ADA sales by computer because sometimes people show up to use those seats who don't seem disabled?  (saving them so they're available for the people who really need them)  I'm at least hoping there's a positive reason for making it more difficult to get them. as I'd always found the 5th Avenue Theatre to be  quite considerate organization as theaters go.

T.O.D. (2)

The problem with clichés is that, the older you get, the more that everything seems like a cliché.  There are few,if any, surprises any longer.  On the other hand, we get comfortable with clichés.

So, if somebody does, in fact, do something that surprises us, we tend to proclaim that filmmakers' "brilliance"...even if the overall movie is nothing special.

Annabelle wanted to get out of the apartment this morning, so when I emptied the litter, I took her with me.  She strolled up the steps, sniffing each one.  I think she smells the fifth floor puppy.

When she got to the fourth floor, she had to smell each door, but she showed no inclination to head to the fifth.  Maybe she realizes that might kill me.  I think her favorite part is when she decides she's had enough and climbs my leg. I pick her up, she purrs and chirps, and I carry her home.

To my knowledge, that kind of behavior -- i.e., walking around with you like a puppy would -- is rare behavior in a cat.  And then showing you when she's ready to go back home?  She's extraordinary.

While I think it is great that Annabelle walks around with DR elmore, and climbs his leg when she is ready to return home, I do not find this behavior rate.  At least not with my cats.

Many years ago, my boyfriend and I had gone over to a friend's house, a short walk. This was down on the Marina peninsula, before it was wall-to-wall condos, and there was lots of open space. While visiting with the friend we hear a noise outside, which sounded like it might be a cat. We went outside and there was our cat, pining after us. We took him home and all was well. I'd never heard of other cats doing this sort of thing. My other cats never did.

I'm always amazed at how much outreach Vixmom's church does. But questions remain:

Where are these people housed? Does the church have dormitory facilities? Is this male only or are women helped too? Do other churches in the area do much?

I'm particularly impressed with the lunch bags. But also the whole program.

I had a wonderful afternoon at Encores!  The performance went very well, but our guest star is ill and missing bother performances today.  I got to speak to a couple of friends backstage, and there are a couple of performers in the show I personally dislike a lot so I stayed out of their way.  In the talkback with the audience, Joshie and I got lovely mentions from both Rob Berman and Jack Viertel. He deserved it much more than I because he worked his butt off on the show.  I'm just grateful to be working.

We have a gym and we have thirty cots and bedding. I amtold that we have about 10 women regulars and about 15 men.... I myself have not chaperoned or cooked since my work hours conflict.  I understand the other churches have similar programs ...

Irrational Man was Woody Allen getting back to his Dostoevsky fascination. It's his Crime and Punishment. It's also a sign that he doesn't care about the structure and form of his writing much anymore, as there was too much narration -- and it was often more interesting than the movie itself.

Keith is popping corn and then we are going to watch GOODBYE CHRISTOPHER ROBIN.

Let us know how it is.

The movie or the popcorn ;)
Keith's special popcorn is always good.  I also enjoyed the movie though it is a bit sad.

I always laugh when you have a large group of bad guys attacking the hero, but they only fight one at a time so our hero can win.

I have been reading truth vs fiction regarding the Christoper Robin film.  I prefer finding the changes after watching, otherwise I might be annoyed with the differences.

Back from the Guys and Dolls show - bad director and the kids deserved better - one very talented young man with a great voice playing Sky.  Then my friend, her daughter and her daughter's son went to Factor's - I hadn't been happy with my last meal there, but this one was great.  We all had a lot of fun.  Her son is around five or six and he was very shy when I met him at the show, but within ten seconds I had him laughing out loud and dinner he was howling with laughter.  His mom told me I'm his new favorite friend.

I came home to find one proofer's proofed manuscript.  I gave it a quick glance - mostly very simple things and only a handful of things to run by Muse Margaret.

If not the show, I am glad the evening at Factor's was fun.

How was the show, George?

Very good and highly recommended.  The actor (I forget his name) did several different accents for the many characters and switched very quickly between them.  The set was a bunch of antiques suspended on the back wall in what looked like a bunch of giant shadow boxes, and on the stage were a desk and chair, an easy chair, and a little sideboard.  It was beautiful.

Re the TOD:  There was a fun number called "I Love a Film Cliche" in A Day in Hollywood/A Night in the Ukraine.

(Why can't I link it on YouTube, though?)

I don't know what could've happened, Fred.  Here's the link:

TCB - is it possible they don't allow ADA sales by computer because sometimes people show up to use those seats who don't seem disabled?  (saving them so they're available for the people who really need them)  I'm at least hoping there's a positive reason for making it more difficult to get them. as I'd always found the 5th Avenue Theatre to be  quite considerate organization as theaters go.

I thought of that, FJL, and it makes sense, but on the telephone they didn’t even ask me if I was handicapped.  So, I don’t know how the phone system would weed out any non-ADA people from getting the seats versus the online ticket sales.

Either way, if you weren’t handicapped, you would end up having to sit on the floor because you wouldn’t have a chair.

DR TCB how did you figure out you needed to call the theater for your tickets?  Even if they can't sell them online there should have been instructions to call.

I just took a chance and called.  There was nothing on the website to tell me to call.
