Well, you've read the notes, the notes revealed the new book title and cover, and now it is time for you to post until the revealed cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: DEXTEROUS!
-
First post after BK!
-
Very intriguing cover, BK. Can't wait to read it!
-
Well, I need to go to bed. I want to get to work early so that I can make up some time that I took off earlier this week.
Good night and have a good day, all!
-
TCB - I loved the TCB Memory Hour! What a sweet story about Ms. Bacall.
-
And about your family too, of course!
-
I really like that cover in the notes
-
Maybe someone here knows: In APPLAUSE, I can't imagine Margo Channing still sings the line about
"Being to your man what a woman should be, that's something greater, something greater"
Is there any official line change, or do they just keep it as a period piece?
(Maybe one of the Guests here knows?)
-
I recall the story (told so many times by now it probably doesn't matter if it's true) about a regional production of APPLAUSE, where someone in the box office insists he got a call asking for "two tickets to see Dorothy Collins in APPLESAUCE."
-
Not as odd a story, but when "Follies" went on sale at Kennedy Center for the 2010 revival, the young-sounding box office person said, "OK, you have 2 seats for The Will Rogers Follies on Saturday at 8." (Seats had just gone on public sale that day, I think, and I could see that a D.C. resident probably born late 1980's might be more aware of The Will Rogers Follies than the Goldman & Sondheim Follies.)
And the time I'd ordered seats on Ebay to MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG and those "cookies" or whatever on the system gave me follow-up idea for products that might interest me, like Samsonite Roll-Along Luggage
-
That should have been two posts, I guess.
-
Enough of me and my old fart memories on this page, I guess.
-
Good morning
-
I keep falling asleep, if I am not actively doing something... I need to get my thyroid levels checked I think
-
Anyway I am off to work but first...
-
Wonderful story TCB !! Your mom and aunt must have been thrilled
-
Good morning, all.

It really was nice. Thanks for sharing.
-
Gosh and golly I am intrigued to know what Gee is about
-
Vibes for all who need them!

The rest of us old farts like your stories, too, Fred.
-
John how's your dad?
-
Jack, how's your mom?
-
I was surprised at how much I liked Breathe, Jane.
-
Fun stories Fred!
-
Hi ho hi ho...
-
John how's your dad?
Up and down. He’s healing. His strength is coming back. But his memory is getting worse, which I think is due to his diabetes meds not being administered properly, but what do I know from do far.
Tomorrow the home health people go to the house to make an assessment, but from what I gather, nothing has been done about getting a hospital bed at home.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I have much to accomplish today, I haven't accomplished much. I'm still angry over the Florida shootings and the victims. And I'm even angrier over the state of this country since too many swallowed the Trump bullshit and voted for him.
-
Page 2 Dance!
-
DR TCB, your Lauren Bacall story was the first nice thing I've heard about her in 30+ years. I was happy to read it.
-
Good morning to all
-
Good morning, all.

Band rehearsal last night was great fun. It's the full complement of the Beaumont version, and frankly I'd be just as happy to play the run which is just through next week. But I think the gal I was subbing for (my partner in piano crime for I Do! I Do!) is going to be back in fine fettle. She actually had a nasty little touch of the flu requiring a visit to the ER due to a high fever, but she's doing well.
-
I must throw in another thanks to TCB for the great Bacall story.
-
The rest of us old farts like your stories, too, Fred.
It's only four days now,and I've already caught myself embellishing the story of the joyous photo of vixmom and BD Wong. By the time I'm 70, I suspect I'll be telling the younger generation that Skip actually took the photo. By the time I'm 95, when no one will likely recall that I was ill that night and missed the concert, I'll probably claim to have taken the photo myself.
-
...and that you spent hours in the darkroom developing it.

braving the long flight of stairs to and from the darkroom - upstairs, both ways.

T.O.D.
Free HBO & Cinemax this weekend, so we will be recording a few things.
Already, we've recorded WONDER WOMAN. Not really my cup of tea, but I'm told that it's quite good.
-
Last night, I started writing on my next one-woman play in THE HOLLYWOOD LEGENDS series.
As with the last 2-3, this one also involves somebody that I knew.
-
Friday morning greetings! Richard and I were going to take lunch to our sister-in-law Jayne and her sister today, but I woke up sneezy and sniffly and they don't need me around.
-
By the time I'm 70, I'll......wait that's only two years from now.....never mind.
-
I enjoyed the stories by DR FJL and DR TCB last night about the Broadway in NYC.
-
That book cover looks kind of scary......but we shall see.....
-
The Men's Shorts were most disappointing for USA fans last night....at least for this fan.....
And Nathan Chen had no answer as to why he is 18th.....the commentator offered "nerves" or "new location or training regime" or a couple of other things....and to each he said...."No.....uh.....no...."

NBC coverage was pretty skimpy in prime time...

Annabelle and I took two morning strolls today. On the first we saw our neighbor Mark, who's a jazz pianist . We had a nice visir with him. The second stroll was into a hall echoing with elevator crew sounds. She seemed disoriented and very relieved to get back to Thatch and a safe apartment.
-
I need to see those kitties!
-
I keep falling asleep, if I am not actively doing something... I need to get my thyroid levels checked I think
The cost of my Synthroid has become very pricey but I am afraid to switch brands and mess things up.

So was I.

You probably know more than others give you credit for. The stress of where he is can also be making his issues worse, IMHO.
-
I was surprised at how much I liked Breathe, Jane.
So was I.
Yikes. I read that as "I was surprised at how much I can breathe." Which of course is no joke when the breathin' ain't good.
-
There's a York Theatre Subways are for Sleeping coming down the pike - I think next week? Anyone up for that?

I wish. Love that score.
-
I'm up, I'm up - about four and a half hours of sleep - rough night.
-
Tiiiiired. Thanks to those who mentioned the book cover.
-
Book cover is very striking. I have NO ideas re the title! Looking forward to discovery.

I am very prone to nightmares, always have been. I think I have triggers that other people don't, so please do not be offend...... Bruce, is your new book a scary one?
-
That book cover looks kind of scary......but we shall see.....
I am glad I am not the only one that thinks so.

I must have been asleep within a second of my last post yesterday. Thank you half a Benadryl :)
-
My new book is anything but scary. It's the antithesis of scary. I really have to be careful with this one - don't want spoilers. But no, not scary, not suspense, not a thriller, not a mystery. A very human story.
-
I am intrigued that a couple of people think the cover is scary - something I never got or the Muse never got from it, but then again, we've read the book :) The flap copy and blurbs will be very important.
-
Flap copy is always crucial.
-
Maybe dreamy is a better word than scary.....
-
DR GINNY the inner web is in an uproar about the skimpy NBC coverage.....I watched it on NBCSN.
Tonight is the Men's Free Skate starting at 7 p.m. on NBCSN and 8 p.m. on NBC....so we will see if they do it differently. There are a LOT of sports to cover, so they jump back and forth....on the MAIN network.
-
Dreamy - very good.
-
I shall now be on my way to an early lunch with dear reader Jeanne.
-
Well, I need to go to bed. I want to get to work early so that I can make up some time that I took off earlier this week.
Good night and have a good day, all!
It turns out that I didn't get to work early. Spoo. ::) I dilly-dallied for too long this morning and got to work at approximately my normal time.
-
Oh, well...that's what vacation time is for. ;)

Ditto! :D

BK, where did the picture come from? Did you have it taken and created especially for your book?
-
Maybe dreamy is a better word than scary.....
I didn't think it was scary, but my first thought was that it was some sort of fantasy.
-
I didn't think of "dreamy", literally, but that is indeed the impression I picked up from it.
-
Maybe dreamy is a better word than scary.....
Maybe. Like, I'd probably be comfortable going to a doctor named Dr. McDreamy, but would do an internet search before going if I were referred to a Dr. McScary
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Bruce and I had a fun lunch at John O'Groats. I had the fish and chips, as usual, and he had a sandwich, which I'll let him tell you about. We talked about the new book cover a lot. I find it quite evocative.

Sorry. I hope my reaction is in the minority.
-
I was, of course, very disappointed that he didn't bring me a copy. But I guess he has a lot on his mind. ;)
-
I have some work to do, then I need a nap.

That it is, only for me not what Bruce intended.

I had my hair cut today and it looks very nice. We were going out to dinner tonight. Of course, since my hair looks good our plans are cancelled because of Keith's cold.

I find that when I have plenty of time I often dawdle, and I'm more likely to be running late than when time is short and I hustle.

Thanks everyone! My mom is doing fine. She sees colors much brighter and can read much better....so the surgery was a success.
We are doing eye drops for a few weeks....so I am glad she finally decided to have the procedure done.

Yup, I often do that.

So far I am not sick and seem to still only have allergies. Fingers crossed I don't catch it.
-

That is what people say that have it done. I am not bad enough yet to have it done and get my vision fixed at the same time.
I am pleased your mother is doing well.
-

When one of you is sick, do you normally cancel or do you ask the other people if the well one should come without the sick one?
-
It was just us going out. Normally we cancel together but that is because most the time we only go out with another couple and not groups of people. When we were younger I was usually the sick one and got dragged along-lol
-
Recently friends were in town and we met them for dinner. Had Keith been sick I would have gone by myself.
-
Keith really isn't that bad. Had tonight been a special event I expect he would have gone, but just for the two of us it wasn't worth it.
-
We received an email today from Netflix saying they shipped DUNKIRK. Finally :)
-
Well, here's a millstone that MUST be celebrated!!
Congrats on 80,000 posts, Jane! :D
-
:D
Of course I was not paying attention. Thanks.
-
Back from seeing act two of Levi - beautiful job and only a couple of minor fixes, none of them pictorial. So, that's now locked.
-
Had a fun lunch, too.
-
Printed out the book.

As most who've read my books know I'm big on quoting song lyrics. I've done less of it (none in Thrill Ride at all) because the publisher has gotten very hinky about doing so without clearances from the song publishers. They will allow only four lines of a song to be quoted. There is a song in GEE that plays a very important role and I in fact used six lines, two of which are quoted in two different parts. I did, in fact, try to contact the publishers - I'd read that that could be a frustrating thing as they just don't care about it, and that was exactly the case. I got bounced back and forth between three different publishing entities, ending back at the first I went to - each of them saying they didn't have those rights. I mean - really? So, at that point I was done. So, last night, when I couldn't sleep, I went to the section where four lines of the song are quoted - two from the first verse, two from the bridge. And I simply deleted the quotes and paraphrased them in prose and I have to say it worked better - more personal and everything you need to get from the lyric is there, but not a direct word-for-word quote, which is completely legal. So now I'm only quoting two lines, once at the end of part one, once at the end of part two, and voila. I read it to Muse Margaret, she heartily approved, and I sent that replacement section to Grant already.
-
Thinking about putting the cover on Facebook at some point this evening or tomorrow.
-
Gratuitous Post #111!

Listening to music. Did a little proofing - finding lots of tiny little things - all formatting. Easy to fix.

Congrats, Jane, on the milestone.

Watching more Barbara Stanwyck tonight. These earlier episodes in the series' run are exceptional.
