Well, you've read the notes, the notes were March-like and merry, and now it is time for you to post until the merry March cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: AGON!
-
Now I know why I couldn't post.
-
To finish what I was saying ;D
Nook has a nice wish list option so I can wait until I plan to read a book before purchasing it.
-
First post after Jane.
-
Good night.
-
'night
-
What is this good night malarky.
-
What is malarky?
-
Maybe I'll try to go to bed at this reasonable hour. That would be a real change of pace for me.
-
To finish what I was saying ;D
Nook has a nice wish list option so I can wait until I plan to read a book before purchasing it.
I have a LOT of titles in my wish list. I don't know if I'll ever get to any of them.
-
And now, to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning to all.
-
I just read that Quentin Tarantino is making a movie, ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD with Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio.
Hmmm...
I wonder if this is going to be an adaptation of my book.
If so, which one will play Harry Pennypacker?
::)

Finally, a wise quote from Anthony Scaramucci: "Show me a person who hasn't told a white lie, I'll show you the biggest liar in the room."
-
Newsflash: You can lose your job for saying "No the boss stepped out, can I take a message?" (when the boss is standing right there).
They say that's a real lie, not a "white lie."
-
Good morning, all!

I was hoping for a nice quiet day at home but I am seeing the matinee of Subways Are For Sleeping. My Guys & Dolls and How to Succeed . . . colleague Jason works for the Jule Styne office and he's behind most of this Subways restoration. He had offered me a ticket for Saturday matinee, but I am committed to see The Great Cat Massacre that my friend Ella Martin is directing. She and I will have a nosh after the show.
-
The show's at 2:30, so I'll leave here around 1:00, take the crosstown to Lexington and then a downtown bus to 53rd.
-
I fed the babies around 7:00 this morning, then went back to bed until 7:45, put on the coffee, fed the birds, and took my bath. I'm hoping that when I return home this afternoon there will be a working elevator. I cannot carry 40 lbs of kitty litter up three flights of stairs.
-
My pension landed in my bank account this morning, and they've raised it by $11.00! I hope it's a nice surprise and not an error.
I wait for the Ohio property tax check to clear along with my utilities check and other payments.
-
Good morning, all.
-
No bears yet this morning.
I'm told that my town of Danbury has some 60 bears on record now. Somehow or other the towns get them tagged so there's a relatively accurate count. There's also a state website for reporting every sighting. Nathan reported the one here at the house, and I'll add the one down the road, even though he says it had to be the same bear. Oy!
-
Oskar the Blind Cat, who died three weeks ago, has inspired two books about this cat who will not let his blindness suppress his love for adventure. His friend Klaus is the cautious one.
-
So DR Elmore is seeing Subways today or Saturday? Today, right?
Vixmom and I will be at the Sunday matinee. I need to get my album out and renew my acquaintance with the score!

Yes. Today. I'm hearing good things about it.
-
Tonight I'm going to the local $3 movie theater to see Cinema Paradiso.
Yes, we actually have a $3 jernt. They usually play family fare that would probably kill me if I were to be exposed to it, but tonight's film is part of a weekly or bi-weekly classics series. Hopefully there will be many more such delights to come.
Back when they were a $2 house (ah, those were the good old days) they were functioning nicely as a second-run place. That was also back when they were still running 35mm. Sadly, when they renovated and converted to digital, they went to almost all family sh fare, some of which looks to me like it really scrapes the bottom. "Sad!"

Likewise, so I'm looking forward to it -- but first, to your full report!

DR ELMORE don't tell the kids you are going to see the MASSACRE OF THE CATS.
-
Miracle vibes for MR BK.
-
Well now I am told that my slideshows will be shown at the Reunion on a LAPTOP.
Now I know how all of those directors felt when their CinemaScope movies were panned and scanned for TV. Only one person at a time will really be able to see the show.
I thought about taking the TV that has been in my Dad's room, but it won't read any of the inputs no matter what cable I use. And I hate to BUY a new TV just for the reunion.....
I know First World Problems.
-
I shall have to consider the TOD, although I will start with:
Kubrick:
2001: A Space....
5,000 Fingers of Dr T
Lang:
The Big Heat

Oh no! Harvey Schmidt has died. I loved him.

-
OH NO!!!
-
No longer in this world. Sometimes, more than other times, these things are unbelievable.
Damn it to HELL.
-
DR Laura, I saw this and thought of you!
-
Especially sad because Tom Jones, at our talkback, spoke a bit about how losing his wife had been such a blow, and how he has been coming out from that and, even now, just getting back into the world. He also spoke, naturally, about the always close friendship with Harvey, and now Harvey dies at 88, while Tom has just turned 90. And Tom was so robust that evening. Hate this.
-
So sorry to hear about Harvey, a dear, dear man and a dear friend. He's been struggling for the past decade but always seemed to come back. We spoke for a couple of hours in the latter part of last year. Too many memories - notes will deal with it.
-
I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep.
-
LOL Elmore.
-
I've been working in the front yard.

I wait for the Ohio property tax check to clear along with my utilities check and other payments.
Congrats on the raise, Larry! I got my income tax refund yesterday! Now, if my credit card issues would just get resolved, I think I can pay that off. ::)

DR Chas enjoy your evening at the movie theater.

I am shocked. Really, a laptop! Where is the reunion going to be? It is possible there is something at the location that will work better, or they can rent something that loops the slideshow.

I'm glad I got some of the Harvey doodles to good homes in the last Indiegogo campaign. I still have so many wonderful ones left, plus all his wonderful notes to me over the years.
-
Yes, and it's a reminder that I need to get off the dime and talk to the local framer about how I'd like mine done. I love these.
-
I have to decide whether to go to this dinner thing. On the one hand, it's Linda Hart and I don't see her all that often. On the other hand, I'm not sure I'm feeling at all social. I have to decide in the next fifteen minutes and call.
-
GO! You'll be glad you did - she has something interesting to tell you.
-
DR JANE it's the local golf clubhouse.....I doubt they have anything there.....but we shall see.
-
I think DRs vixmom and ChasSmith will have a good time at Subways Are For Sleeping this weekend. There are some book issues, and I wish I liked more that 50-75% of the score. The cast is game and good, and David Hancock Turner's piano work is really lovely. I had a very good time.
-
DR vixmom, Jim Morgan announced that Desperate Measures is moving to The Other Stages in May. We'll have to go back.
-
DR JANE it's the local golf clubhouse.....I doubt they have anything there.....but we shall see.
There must be places that rent something for events. I have seen a number of slide shows over the years.

I was going to,comment on your bear pictures but I fell asleep yesterday when I was trying to catch up ....

How about , he's on another call, can he call you back?
Ha! I guess the new white lie rule would say a lie is a lie. I am mystified, though certainly no fan of Hope Hicks or the people involved.
-
That must have been quite scary... my inlaws occassionally had bears on their acreage
-
I guess people will just have to say "I'm sorry, he or she just doesn't want to talk to you."
Or let all calls be screened by voicemail, maybe.
-
So DR Elmore is seeing Subways today or Saturday? Today, right?
Vixmom and I will be at the Sunday matinee. I need to get my album out and renew my acquaintance with the score!
I have never seen or heard the show...I am looking forward to learning something new

I was so sorry to hear this

I've been working in the front yard.
Did you remember to take time out to wave at Mrs. Kravitz down the street?

Or simply, "He's not available." You don't have to tell them...for you. ;)

DR vixmom, Jim Morgan announced that Desperate Measures is moving to The Other Stages in May. We'll have to go back.
Oh I would love that, it was a really fun show
-
I'm up, I'm up - oh, wait...
Crazy little day. Spent quite a bit of time with my Harvey memories, which are plentiful and many and which I'll share in the notes.
-
The garage is in MUCH better array now and one can actually walk in and fine things. I found some very interesting things, including about forty CDs, still sealed, that I suppose I'd intended to listen to at some point, including an SACD release of an Ernest Bloch piece - how that ended up somewhere without being played is anyone's guess. The soundtracks are mostly going up on Amazon, as they're all going for fifty bucks or more and now I'll happily undercut everyone.
-
Picked up a small package, and then had my meal o' the day - that Japanese restaurant, had the combo box - teriyaki chicken, etc. Quite full. I'd already decided tonight's dinner thing wasn't going to work for me - too chilly and I have to be very careful - everyone I know is sick.
-
I guess people will just have to say "I'm sorry, he or she just doesn't want to talk to you."
;D

-
Hello, everyone.
-
TCB, are you feeling any better?
-
I had a nice comfort food lunch at BK and my favorite Westside joint (but without BK). That was followed by two hours or so at T-Mobile, trying to fix my iPhone. I think it's better, but it's not completely fixed. The two guys really gave it their all. Have you noticed how days which have been designed Me days have a way of filling up with crap?
-
Is "crap" considered a swear word to some? It isn't to me, but I'm never clear on exactly what is or what isn't. If lies come in different colors, then surely other words do, too.
-
I am very tired. I'm sooo glad the weekend's almost here--and I rarely say that.
Vibes to all.
TTFN.
-
Oh, yes. We await an elevator status report.
-
Just finished watching "Tom Jones."
The elevator: when I returned from the matinee, the elevator crew was removing all their machinery and equipment. The goddamned city inspection is not until Monday, so I have 40 lbs of litter I cannot bring upstairs sitting under the mailboxes and at least five more damned days of carting things up the stairs. On my way out at 1:00, I ran intro Val and gave him hell about this. what the fat hell was last week's "inspection"? I need to do laundry desperately.
I told him I wasn't blaming him, but I felt we'd been fucked by the building management. we were told the elevator would be out until Feb. 28, six weeks. We were told three weeks ago they were finishing up early, we were told last Friday it would be finished by Wednesday and no one said one word about a 5-day wait after that for a city inspection.
But who the hell's bitter?
-
I'm up, I'm up - oh, wait. What I am doing is listening to music whilst listing a bunch of soundtrack CDs that I had no intention of ever listening to. I do have a stack to listen to, and then some of those may go up for sale.
-
Now playing: Bloch, Bridge, and Hough, pieces for cello and orchestra.
-
Page three? Really?
-
DR JANE one look at our budget would tell you that renting any equipment would be out of the question.
I am trying to think about a member of my family who might need a television and buying one for $150 or so.....option B. After the reunion, it could give it to someone.
-

My oh my...
-
Page four? Really.
-
Sinday is my good win day.
-
Listening to Mr. Johnny Mathis - one of the two-fer Mercury albums he did in the 1960s.
-
Well, Cinema Paradiso was nice, the theater was fine, and the (adult) audience was attentive throughout (it was the long director's cut), but I was disappointed to find they were running a Blu-ray and not a regular DCP (Digital Cinema Package).
BUT...
The Blu-ray performed beautifully. I remember being told by a couple of folks on Home Theater Forum that a good Blu-ray transfer can hold its own when properly projected to a medium sized theater screen, depending on distance, of course...and it did indeed. So for the most part, all was well, because this was nevertheless a night out in an unusual but real, if not huge, theater. I can explain more tomorrow.
-
I wish I liked the long version of Cinema Paradiso, but I don't - the shorter version was much better and what we all fell in love with. The long version was lambasted by folks originally and not a hit, which is why he cut it down, and voila, a hit. Still listening to the smooth tones of Mr. Mathis on Mercury.
-
Good evening, all.
-
It’s been a long day.
-
For as long as I've had both versions sitting here at home, this happens to be the first time I've watched the long version. I was almost glad when the person giving a little curtain speech announced it, because now I was captive and would "have to" watch it and take it in, whether I would have previously chosen to or not. So it did its job. And now I have seen it. And I totally agree.
-
Went bowling to benefit homeless vets as a part of work.
-
Never had a free moment at work.
-
Ushered for the dance company Complexions. Quite good.
-
Mourned the passing of/celebrated the life and legacy of Harvey Schmidt.
-
Now trying to relax before bed.
-
Page four? Really?
-
Have already written the Harvey portion of the notes. Wanted to get that out of the way, as I knew it would be long.
-
Is "crap" considered a swear word to some? It isn't to me, but I'm never clear on exactly what is or what isn't. If lies come in different colors, then surely other words do, too.
Not to me.

You are very nice.
If you can't think of anyone who needs a tv maybe the committee can put out a request to borrow a tv.
-
DR Jeanne have you seen Bruno Cramer as MAIGRET?
-
I should have checked my email tonight and responded. It was nothing serious, just rude.
-
Still page four? Really?
-
Who sent a rude e-mail to darling Jane? Names. I'm very close to sending a rude e-mail of mine own - kind of at that point - I was calmed down for a while, but as the days go by I'm just too irritated and should probably get it off my chest before a final rupture.
-
Page four? REALLY?
-
Listening to the two CD complete Giant soundtrack. Tiomkin is a very busy composer, if you get my meaning. Still I like it - sound isn't brilliant but you can't everything.
-
Who sent Jane a rude e-mail? Why I oughta...
-
I'm on my computer and have been converting a video file in the hopes of making a playable DVD.
-
That is so exciting George. No how about converting some posts. :)
-
It's an MKV file and I'm converting it to an MP4 file.
-
And I wish to know who sent Jane a rude e-mail.
-
Get me off this damn Geraldine Page.
-
Is someone trying to gaslight me - there are about two hundred posts on this page alone.
-

;D
I was rude for not replying. A friend was doing me a favor and I didn't notice. She sent a total of 4 emails.
-
Page five? Really?
-
The last time I tried this (converting the video), the sound and video were off. :P
-
Oh, YOU were rude. I have never known you to be rude, only sweet and even-tempered, two things I have in short supply sometimes.
-
But better short supply that tall supply.
-
How fast can we get off this damn Paige O'Hara?
-
I think I am falling asleep.
-
How fast can we get off this damn Paige O'Hara?
One post at a time.
-
Of course, that's never quickly enough.
-
::)
-
;)
-
My converting program seems to have frozen about a minute before it was finished. WTH??
-
I hope it'll eventually give me an error message, rather than just sit there doing nothing.
-
Good evening.
-
I was so sorry to hear about Harvey Schmidt’s passing.
-
BK, I know he had a very long life, but it is still hard to loose a good friend.
-
Hi, George.
-
Hi, Jane.
-
Hi, BK.
-
BK, are we
worshipping celebrating Oscar Sunday?
-
Hi, Tom.
-
Well, I had to kill the converting program, and the finished file didn't even have any sound. It didn't work at all. :P
-
Sorry George.
-
How are you this evening TCB?
-
I slept for about 8 minutes.
-
Well, I had to kill the converting program, and the finished file didn't even have any sound. It didn't work at all. :P
Sorry about that, George. Of course, I didn’t even understand what you were doing.

I guess I am doing better. I am trying very hard not to come down with anything.

Stay well vibes.

PAGE SIX DANCE!!
-
Which reminds me, this place must be the most popular site on the internet. Suddenly, Sambucol is in short supply. My pharmacist told me it was completely out of stock and on back order. Now where do you think people heard about it??
-
Sorry George.
Thanks, Tom Jane. It's no big deal. I was just trying an experiment. The original file is still playable on mh computer.
-

Posts adjusted. :-[

Spoo! "My" computer. ::)
This is funny. DR TCB I am glad you asked.
-
What is a mh computer?
Spoo! "My" computer. ::)
Oh, sorry. My spellcheck kept trying to tell me that it should be “my”, but I said, “Noooooo, George said it was a mh computer.”

I should try and go back to sleep.

And I usually try to proofread before I post, but I really goobered up those!
