Well, you've read the notes, the notes had a view, and now it is time for you to post until the viewed cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: INGENIOUS!
-
First post after BK!
-
Well, this is kinda cool. I'm watching "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," and he did a segment called First Draft where he shows an actual Easter (in this case) greeting card and then he shows the "first drafts" of those greeting cards, which are funny (and the joke, of course). Anyway, he always pulls someone out of the audience to help with the bit, and the woman he brought up tonight is from Olympia, Washington! I don't know her, but she mentioned her boyfriend who was in the audience, Jerry, and I know who he is...he's a local Olympia celebrity! He used to have an interview show on the local access TV station and I've ushered for several events that he's emcee'd. :)

As for eBay, there are a couple of higher priced items that I've been watching for quite some time, and they still haven't sold, but they're still listed. I may someday make the decision to spend the dough, but probably by the time I do, they'll be sold.
-
Tonight, I'm going to meet DR TCB in Tacoma to see a production of Jesus Christ Superstar! Thanks again, Tom!
-
And now, to sleep.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning.
-
I woke up with a headache.
-
Who can I sue?
-
I used to enjoy Ebay, back in the old days. My daughter collected vintage post cards of the real-life characters in Ragtime, among other things. The only bad experience we had was when she bought something from an online store. The people cleaning out their attics had great stuff.
-
How are you feeling about numbers this morning, Laura?
-
Please, no numbers.
-
I feel the same way about body parts, but that rarely comes up.
-
Please, no body parts.
-
I have written down a couple of good quotes, though. I will share them later. Good thing I still remember my old high school shorthand.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I dreamed I was in London for a concert with several friends - Jason Graae, Kim Criswell, Annalene Beechey, John Wilson - and I couldn't remember how to get to the Metro. Several orchestra players walked me there. Then I couldn't remember where I was going.
-
Thatch spent half the night cuddled up with me. Annabelle's new favorite sleeping spot is my computer chair.
-
Good morning, all.

I, too, miss the old days of eBay -- from when I joined it in 1998 and for the first several years hence.
I think half the blame for what it has become rests on eBay itself, which chose to become the "other Amazon". But also, people's ideas about what stuff is worth was changing, due to the rising popularity and influence of Antiques Roadshow and other such things. Suddenly, every old thing anyone had was worth a bloody fortune. And it wasn't just on eBay one saw this happen. Local "Bargain News" papers, tag sales, estate sales, etc. etc. etc., all changed over a period of just a few years.
I do still check eBay for certain things, and I can still find a treasure now and then. (None of which is in the price bracket BK is talking about.) And I'll always remember it for the community it was, for - truly - one brief shining moment.

T.O.D.
No idea. There's no new films out there that are of interest.
We've seen all this year's major Oscar winners.
Last night, we watched INTERRUPTED MELODY with Eleanor Parker.
We had started to watch ATOMIC BLONDE, but turned it off after 20+ minutes.
I guess they don't make films for people my age any longer.

And younger novelists cannot write a credible character over the age of 30. It was a huge failure of both Little Fires Everywhere and An American Marriage.

I’m going to try to watch Darkest Hour and A Ghost Story this weekend.

I imagine knowing shorthand is very convenient.

Atomic Blond, IMHO, did improve but I doubt you would have cared.

I found a great deal on eBay just this last December. There was an original King Kamehameha Hawaiian shirt for $16. It had just been re-released for $150, so I figured, why not? The shirt had never been worn. Interior tag still in place.
-
That's incredible, DR John G.

Part of my problem with today's films is that it's often hard to understand what the actors are saying. I don't know if that is because of a technical issue with the sound and/or today's actors tend to mumble or speak too low.
I could hear every word in INTERRUPTED MELODY.
Perhaps I should just stick to old movies.

I'm up, I'm up - maybe seven hours of sleep but maybe less.

Friday afternoon greetings! I was outta here before 9am to meet Rebecca for breakfast. We chatted for almost 3 hours and now I'm home trying to psych myself up to start getting ready for Sunday's family gathering here at our house.
-
This morning, on our patrol, Annabelle and I stopped by Jaymie's apartment to see how the cleanup was progressing. Her new bathroom is completed and awaiting as paint job. Annabelle had to check everything ad see that it met her standards. As we were leaving, Jaymie asked if she and Thatch would like a toy, which was probably one of her cat's. The cat is with her husband at their home outside Manhattan.
I brought it back and Thatch and Annabelle love it!

Another problem aside from simply mumbling is the music is usually too loud.
-
Nice gifting on the cat toy.
-
I have mentioned I have been reading rather slowly, especially for me. Monday I began a very charming book which I finished this morning. It really is not a book to rush but one to savor and enjoy the characters in between reading.
Thank you Bruce :)
-
That cat toy looks great. I don't know why we haven't had any of those rollerball things for a long time. Have to do something about that.

We had a ball toy similar to that, Elmore. Joshie played with it even at age 15.
-
He is, Elmore.
I told my daughter that I might go get a cat after this thing is over. I haven't told my husband that, though.
-
So happy dearest Jane enjoyed the book. And hope she'll do a little Goodreads review for it. I understand about savoring - I wish I was able to do it, but I'm impatient and just barrel forth when I'm reading something. :)

Back from an egg salad sandwich and picking up boxes o' books.

Page two? Really?
-
Hello, everyone.
-
I drove over to my favorite food store, as the cupboard was getting bare. They're always busy at lunchtime, but the traffic was particularly heavy. There's a Costco a few blocks down, which I suspect was the culprit. I drove by a very busy Whole Foods Market on the way home.

George, don't you usually pay $10K for your Hawaiian shirts? This one is even pre-owned. I guess you just don't recognize a bargain when you see one. ;D ;)

I had some good news today. My driver's license expires at the end of May and I was dreading the long wait at the DMV. California allows us to make appointments, which helps, but it's still a long wait--just not quite as long. Plus parking is in short supply there. It all just makes for an unpleasant few hours.
But yesterday I received a notice that I can renew by mail. REALLY?? Registration, yes, for many years now. But a driver's license? I'll GLADLY take them up on it. (You have to renew early to do it.) In fact, I'd gladly pay a surcharge to do it, but I don't think they charge one. Yay!

Once upon a time diction was taught--and not just to actors. I don't know why it no longer is. I frequently have trouble understanding younger people. I can hear them just fine, but I can't understand them, especially over the phone. I seldom have this problem with older people. The younger people, of course, assume I'm hard of hearing. The problem couldn't be them, surely.

This morning my oldest brother Mike was down here and asked if I would come this afternoon to install the software I bought him on his computer.....he has had it for almost two weeks, and I thought he was already using it.
He said he had NEVER installed anything on his computer - so I said okay.
He does have Windows 8 - so I had to go back ONE version of the Dragon software.
It took about an hour to get everything set up - I left him doing the Tutorials....but he was reading and the words were showing up, so my guess is it is working!
I hope he likes it. He is working on a book and writing in long hand, which his wife then types into the computer. I told her this would save her a LOT of typing. She said yes, especially since she can't read his writing anyway.
-
That was a LONG post.
-
Last night there were old Disney cartoons listed on TCM. One cartoon every two hours....I happened to check in some time before 10 p.m. and it turns out they were showing MOVIES after the cartoon.
I saw the ending of IN SEARCH OF THE CASTAWAYS starring MR BK's friend Hayley Mills.
And then AND THEN - I saw The One and Only Genuine Original Family Band - which I have only seen once before. I had the LP and I loved the Sherman Bros. songs.... It was indeed wonderful to see it.....
Walter Brennan was playing the father of Buddy Ebsen who is only 12 years younger than him.....but they looked the same age in 1968...

We found this out after Craig was in Romania. Had we known we would have set up an address with family before he left and he could have renewed from there. Instead he returned home with an expired driver's license-very inconvenient.

Here in Washington, we can renew our driver's license by mail, or even on-line, which I did the time before I renewed in person last year. I think you can only renew on-line if you don't have any major changes. I wanted to go in person to get a new picture and update my weight. :)

We have not had ours long enough to renew it. We will be doing so early and in person. We need to get the enhanced driver's license in order to fly on a plane without needing a passport.
Something to consider DR George when you renew. It costs a little more, however, unless I am mistaken you don't have a passport.

I was delighted to find that as long as a passport hadn't expired, you can renew by mail. It's time drivers licenses caught up.

I have bought enough food for Sunday to feed 30. And there may only be three of us.
-
The menu was built on clams and lamb for two courses. I bought asparagus, tiny potatoes, peas, and mushrooms for the vegetables. Tomatoes for a small salad. And a shrimp salad. Portuguese pasteis de nada or pasteis de Belem will be dessert.
-
I need to get the clams in the morning.
-
Gratuitous post No. 100!
-
I also have to get the grill ready for the lamb. I haven't used it in a while.
-
And somehow manage to work in sunrise services.
-
I'm feeling enhanced right now.
-
Started to watch a movie but fell asleep pronto for about thirty minutes. Not sure a movie is in the cards this night.
-
I wonder if the cards are in the cards?
-
I wonder if the cards are enhanced?

I wonder as I wander and I wander as I wonder.
-
Did you finish the Lelouch movie, BK? How was it?
-
I haven't. Have to be more awake. So, tomorrow after rehearsal.
-
The library has ordered one of the Maigret films with Jean Gabin. Looking forward to seeing that.

Is this the Paschal lamb for Pesach, by any chance?

I'm nor sure if the Prophet Elijah showed up tonight.

Their loss. They probably should have vacationed in the Caribbean more.

Starting to watch A Ghost Story. It might be 92 minutes of sheer horror if, as BK and Druxy so often point out, Casey Affleck doesn't stop mumbling.
-
Reminds me of a great Frank Loesser song.
He goes a mumble, mumble, mumble ...
-
I had to dig my fanny pack out of the closet. It's the only thing we're allowed to use tomorrow while ushering. No knapsacks, no bads, nothing that won't fit in that fanny pack.
Well, lo and behold, inside was the winning raffle ticket I got when I won the bird. It was dated Oct. 13, 1996. So, I've had J.B. for 21 years.

Five!
-
Fred, how are you celebrating Passover this year? Or are you?
-
John G - We ended up e-conversing very joyfully with the San Antonio film office, and though their programming for the "Viva Max!" movie "Made in San Antonio"screening event next Saturday was already planned with the talk by the documentary director Jim Mendiola about his film "Making Viva Max!" they told us they'll be handing out our musical's demo CDs to anyone who wants one and giving a shout-out to the musical while doing that.
Do you know anyone who's planning to go to the April 7 screening at Hemisfield Park (Sp?).

Looks like I might be able to go.
-
Fred, how are you celebrating Passover this year? Or are you?
So far, labeling and packing up "Viva Max!" demo CD's to send to San Antonio. We'll see about tomorrow night.

That's great to hear!

the early forecast is for an evening in the low 60s or upper 50s, and partly cloudy. Sounds idea for an outdoor movie, if I load up on the allergy meds.
-
I meant Hemisfair Park. I can't blame spellcheck this time, just the late hour.
-
Is tonight the first night of Passover?

Do they cancel these types of things if the forecast ends up rainy?

You mean you haven't dipped your eggs in salt water?
-
I feel like I'm stealing Moms Mabley's act, all of a sudden.
-
Well, the first 20 minutes of this movie are glacially paced. Gene Hackman in Night Moves compared Eric Rohmer movies to watching paint dry. This is slower than anything Rohmer ever made.

Cancel or reschedule. i don't know this particular group. But since they have five others in the series, I would say cancel.
-
Well, I'm off to chop the charoses. See you tomorrow!

I knew what you meant. You aren't from here. Those types of typos are fine by me.

Hope the seder dinner is wonderful.

It looks like it's co-presented by the San Antonio Film Commission and Texas Public Radio. (The emails we've been getting when we've been chatting with them have all ended in dot-gov.)
-
Anyone in particular, Fred?
-
I've just sat through three minutes of watching Rooney Mara eating. Wow.
-
She's still eating. Albeit with great emotion.
-
I am home
-
A blessed Passover for our Jewish friends
-
A blessed Good Friday to our Christian friends
-
I am home
From work?
-
It was a busy day at work on a typical day we have 7 or 8 Fed Ex packages for banks. Today we had 27
-
But it was productive day since most of the businesses we deal with were closed for Passover. and/or Good Friday
-
We were actually let go at 4
-
Which gave me time to go to BJs
-
Six!
-
Good night, all.
-
I had signed up to donate some cupcakes for tomorrow's Eggstravaganza at the church and it wasbecoming obvious that I wasn't going to have time to be baking them I stopped at Bjs just as they were restocking the cupcakes and snagged 4 cartons... 48 mini cupcakes, half chocolate ones, vanilla ones for $4.99 a piece
-
My brother and SIL are once again hosting Easter and I was instructed to bring my Sherry mushrooms.... ( I am also bringing a ham). I managed to catch them restocking produce as well and grabbed 4 large containers so I am all set
-
Is tonight the first night of Passover?
Mah nishtanah halailah hazeh mikol haleilot?
-
Then I went home and showered and changed into my black turtleneck and black pants send headed to church for our Tennanbrae service
-
This year I was reading the New Testament passages
-
Well, the show is over and I'm sitting in my car, just about to drive back to Olympia. Anyway, I wanted to post proof of Tom and I at the show, so here it is! :D
-
And now...to Olympia!
Ba back later!
-
then after the congregation left a few of us readied the church for the Easter vigil and Easter morning , the black hangings replaced with white, the altar linens and candles brought back, communion set up and lilies placed around the altar

Nice to see you having fun!
-
And now I am home
-
Not eating taco bell
-
I was busy chatting with vixdad and texting with my niece-in-law in Canada so I didn't come right here
-
I have bought enough food for Sunday to feed 30. And there may only be three of us.
:o
How did that happen?
-
I am not a fan of fish tacos but those look better than most.
-
Starting to watch A Ghost Story. It might be 92 minutes of sheer horror if, as BK and Druxy so often point out, Casey Affleck doesn't stop mumbling.
;D
-
I had to dig my fanny pack out of the closet.
Wow, I didn't realize, or remember, that you won him in a raffle.

The same good wishes for you.

I hope that is $4.99 per carton and not for each cupcake.

I enjoyed seeing the proof that TCB & George really at the show.
-
I just read Anita Shreve has passed away from cancer.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Good evening.
-
I am home from the theater.
-
Driving home, two (not one, but two) beautiful kitties attempted suicide by running in front of my vehicle. Luckily, I was paying attention, so I missed them both.
-
One more post.

Thanks, Vixmom! It wasn't a perfect production, but definitely worth seeing.
-
Hi, Tom. I'm here...finally.

Notes are written and will post on time for a change.

I also like DR George's shirt.
Thanks, Jane (again)!
-
Nice shirt photos from DR GEORGE and DR JOHN G. I like to wear Hawaiian shirts in the summer time.....but then I can't wear plaid shorts....and I have a LOT of those.....
Thanks, Jrand! I like wearing Hawaiian shirts all year round.
;D
