Title: KRITZERLAND AT STERLING'S 86
Post by: bk on April 02, 2018, 12:27:04 AM
Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of Kritzerland at Sterling's 86, and now it is time for you to post until the 86 cows come home.

I liked JCS.  I especially liked the space.....since it was advertised as a  staged concert - there was much more movement than I expected.

I liked the choreography and the costumes....the music was LOUD.  I thought some of the leads were weaker than others.....but Judas and Mary Magdelene and Pontius Pilate....and the two priests were good.

I don't like the show a lot AND it drives me crazy when productions turn the arrest into a media circus with cameras and cell phones and microphones...and then a few songs later sing:  "Israel in 4 B.C. had no mass communication....."

I'll suspend disbelief for microphones for singers and sneakers and jeans, etc....after all THOSE are THINGS not specifically mentioned in the lyrics....

Nice to see DR EDI here last night.

Congrats to DR RLP on paying his taxes and scoring his movie memorabilia.....if it's something you want, the price isn't too high.

I know!  The production that Tom and I saw on Friday had performers with cell phones throughout the whole show.  That just doesn't make sense.

My favorite production I ever saw was at a local community theatre back in the 1990s , they dressed in period costume, except for superstar which was performed from a raised platform above the stage with no one else on the stage

And their Herod started out sincerely asking for proof  and then turned really scary and threatening in the last verse, best  performance I ever saw if that part

It's been a strange morning.  First, the cable box refused to reboot, and I was on the phone with Spectrum for too long.  Finally, after nearly an hour, it decided to work.  Then I opened the blinds to feed the birds and about passed out over the amount of snow.  Who expected that?

There are no birds yet,  so the cats are antsy.

I had and have no interest in Jesus Christ, Superstar, but what I find interesting is that they completely went a 1000% away from the entire point (at least as they've done so far) of the way they've done these live TV shows.  This was, from what I'm reading, a staged thing on a stage, yes?  Not thought out for TV as with most live TV musicals, more of a filmed stage show?

That would make it more like the already forgotten live Easter musical that aired last year. I can’t even remember the name of it.

We had a nice visit over Easter dinner with Richard's brother David and his wife Kathy.  I hadn't seen her for more than a year and had only seen him the day of my Mother's memorial service.  After they left, to get home to Cincinnati before the snow began, Richard Rob, Mary Linda, and I watched Jesus Christ Superstar.  It was OK, but my preferred musical of that ilk is Godspell.

The shame is you don't have a place to put these things in a safe place from her.  While cats like to play with aluminum foil balls they don't necessarily like to walk on them.  It might be worth it to try putting some down and she if she avoids it.
Title: Re: KRITZERLAND AT STERLING'S 86

I googled that and found a couple of other suggestions as well.
"cover the counters with textures cats hate — aluminum foil is one example; cardboard covered with double-faced masking tape or shelf liner is another. No, you won’t have your counters covered forever, but you will need to keep them covered while your cat learns to use the new perches. For the more determined cat, you can look at harmless automatic devices that discourage counter cruising by making sounds cats dislike when they trigger a pressure pad or electronic eye by jumping up."

It rained off and on a bit today while I was out at lunch.  It started raining just as I got into my car to go to lunch, then stopped before I got to Taco Del Mar, then rained while I was eating, then it stopped just as I was leaving and got back to work, then it started to rain just as I was walking into the building!  That all timed out perfectly! :D

What a curiously curious day.  I never went back to sleep, I did my morning errand at two-thirty, I had lunch at eleven-thirty - just an omelet and a bagel, picked up no packages, but was surprised to find the eBay counteroffer accepted, so that's a done deal.

Well, guess what - I just did a Google search on the person who accepted my counteroffer - he owns a - wait for it - bookstore.  He is a dealer.  He just got forty percent off on a book he will immediately relist and try to sell for three times what he paid, guaranteed.  Just another reason to hate eBay.  It's okay, I got what I needed to get and actually made a huge profit, since I got lucky and got the book at auction for almost nothing because no one knew what it was and there were no other bids.  However, had I known for sure he was a dealer I wouldn't have countered with what I did.  But, as I keep saying, the only people buying books on eBay are dealers who'll grab stuff they think the can resell.  Since this guy happens to sell on eBay, too, plus on the ABE, I'll be watching to see what he does with this.  The good news is, that should he try this with any other title I have, I will not do the deal.

I got through fifteen minutes of Jesus Christ, Superstar just now - it's streaming on Broadway World.  I hated every damn second of it.  From what I'd read, the choreography was GREAT, the staging was GREAT - not what I saw.  That's not choreography - choreography has a point and it should serve the drama.  This was flipping and rolling around.  And all that silly overdone lighting.  Just not my thang.

Championship Game Tonight.

I sort of paid attention during the first half. But I’m taking a break now.

Game over. Villanova looked good.

The people were nice, but I saw more sad Michigan fans than happy Villanova fans.

Now, can I stay awake long enough to drive home?

And can I stay awake during two morning meetings?

And on that note (pick a note...any note ;) ), I'm outta here.  I'm leaving for my first Cinder Edna rehearsal!  AND I remembered to set my DVR to record tonight's "Antiques Roadshow"!  It's the first of the three Portland, Oregon episodes that I attended last year!  I wore my white shirt that has very noticeable pineapples on it so that I would be easy to see. :D Hopefully, I'll be seen!

Until later!

Have fun and I hope you see yourself on tv when you return.

Thanks, Jane!  I'm a little over 12 minutes in right now and so far, no sighting. :-\

I still have more than 45 minutes to go in this episode, then two more whole episodes, so there's still hope!

Nope.  I just finished the episode proper and I'm nowhere in the background. :(

Alice Cooper was just okay, but I liked the rest of the cast.

I really liked the actor playing Pontius Pilate.

The local production I saw Friday night, included the Resurrection - sort of.

How did they do that?

They took Jesus down off the cross during “John Nineteen: Forty-One” and carried him off stage.  All of the other cast members left candles on the stage and then exited, except for Mary Magdalene who was left praying onstage alone.  Just as the song was finishing, a large beam of light spilled onto the stage, and Jesus entered in the light; and then blackout.

I really liked the actor playing Pontius Pilate.

I did, too.  I looked him up.  His name is Ben Daniels (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0199842/?ref_=tt_rv_t6), and he's openly gay. ;D

And coincidentally, he played Caiaphas in a BBC TV production of The Passion (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1100959/reference).
