Well, you've read the notes, the notes were sautéed, and now it is time for you to post until the sautéed cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: EMPYREAL!
-
First post after BK.
-
DR TCB as sad as your news was, it was considerate of her niece to take the time to find your email address and write you.
-
BK, will the DVD of LEVI ever be made available, at all? I was hoping to show it to a couple of Artistic Directors.
-

Yes, it was very kind of her.
-
TCB, if it's for that purpose, yes, I can get you one.
-
Opt-in e-mail sent!

Yesterday, we went to Redbox; rented HOSTILES and THE GREATEST SHOWMAN.
The first was a bit long, but very good. The second might have worked better as a non-musical. Hugh Jackman was terrific, but we didn't care much for the songs.
-
T.O.D.
We have a lot of stuff recorded: THE HELEN MORGAN STORY, ADV. OF HUCKLEBERRY FINN, etc.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Had 2 long conversations yesterday with the Vixter
-
BK, this site has the DVD of the Houston Grand Opera production of Willie Stark and several different productions of Susannah:

She and Charles were working on getting their passports so they could go to Canada this summer and introduce Charles to Granny and Grandad
She is terribly upset that Charles will never meet Grandad now
-
Also had a nice long chat with my MIL, apparently my FIL had a particularly nice day the day before he left us, went to bed tired and happy and fell asleep holding the hand of the woman he had loved and lived with for just shy of 65 years (their anniversary is in August)
So she is taking some comfort in that
-
Also had a long chat with my SIL, may God bless her, she is bearing all the work and decisions as she has these many years. She is a wonderful woman and we are all lucky to have her
-
And that's why I have been E&T

Annabelle goes back to the vet today. Around 7:30 last night I noticed she was breathing through her mouth because one of her nostrils is blocked up with snot, so I called City Vet, who's open till 8:30. She will see a new vet this afternoon at 1:30.
She doesn't appear sick, since she's playing and running around with Thatch, so I think sit might be an allergy problem.
-
DR vixmom, I send much love and good wishes with my condolences to you and your family.
-
I have my usual household tasks before I get back to "A Secretary Is Not A Toy."
-
DR vixmom, I send much love and good wishes with my condolences to you and your family.
Thank you, Elmore

Or this?

I asked several friends with pets about insurance before I adopted and they all advised against it. I did actually apply for one and decided that the monthly rate was more than I could afford since my monthly income varies these days from dismal to downright wretched.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Just sent my opt-in for BAGLEY. That's some nice release news.
Also, I've noted that this is my final CD purchase under the Indiegogo thing, and I'd just like to add that I've appreciated the opportunities we've had to "buy ahead" in that manner, so future such deals would be a welcome thing...providing they also work for BK & Co.

Excellent! When I read the notes I made a mental one (note, that is) to ask someone who knows these things better than I do if they have any official or unofficial releases from whatever nefarious source. I'm going to grab me one of those. Thanks, DR Elmore.

Poor baby! Definitely some kind of chronic thing that bothers her. We've had the eye issues here, but never one affecting the nasal or related passages.
-
And, re pet insurance...
I have been torn on that decision at various times, but have always been led to the same conclusion. You "may" get lucky and choose it for a cat that has particular problems later on, but more than likely, that isn't going to be the case. And it is, quite simply, a big expense.
-
Belated condolences, vixmom!
-
In a sense, I've been a bit E&T this week because of the show and various other STUFF(s) and NONSENSE(s) going on, so while I've kept up on everything everyone's posted, I haven't been responding in as timely a manner as I normally would.
-
Which brings me to...
Another op'nin' tonight!

DR Jennifer I am very pleased with the timing, and that you enjoy it. I was concerned you would have a problem with customs since it isn't totally flat. Did it arrive in your regular mail without additional fees? I also made sure it didn't go through a machine on this end which could have hurt the beads.
It was just in my regular mail slot. No problem with customs and it wasn't damaged. Thanks again.
-
DR ChasSmith, in about two weeks I will have a pile of library things to hand over to you.
-
Thanks for the birthday wishes DR Vixmom!
-
I must now set about going through my book and cleaning up notes, page turns, and such. Then I must try to tweak the software a little more (that's a whole world unto itself, and I'm just scratching the surface) in the hope of improving a couple of sounds and patch changes. And these are the patch changes from HELL, let me tell you.
-
I am thinking about postponing my Ohio trip to mid-August before the Miami U term begins on Aug. 27. I'm worried about my expenses for June. I have another week and a conversation with Randy to decide.

Vibes for DR ELMORE & DEAR KAT ANNABELLE

I am still trying to decide if I like opera....especially opera where people stand around talking only they talk sing....
Except I really like DOCTOR ATOMIC....so I guess I like it....
-
If all of those dumb people standing around talking would shut up and listen to the choreographer they might be better off and actually learn the steps....instead of having to ask a hundred questions.
Sarah finally posted a video last night to help them - hopefully. Annie and I did our tap break perfectly twice....but when they were making the tape - I was a slew foot - so there you are.
And of course one of the genius millennials asked "What are we supposed to do while they're doing that?" To which the director replied: "Watch them."
She's the same stupid star to be who has been told by the vocal director that it's "Cowf-man" and keeps singing "Coff-man"....dumb bell.
-
CD ordered....or did I already say that?

Break legs vibes for DR CHAS SMITH & Co.

We should all be this lucky, still it doesn't take away the pain. I am glad she is comforted by his beautiful last day and wish the same to the entire Vixfamily.

It sounds like you are indeed very lucky.

Friday morning greetings! Yesterday I had a nice long brunch visit with Rebecca and got to see pictures of her new grandson who was born on Sunday in Atlanta. From there I checked out a disappointing needlepoint shop and came home for a nap. In the evening I went to the public library for the last of our current events discussions for this season.

I am thinking about postponing my Ohio trip to mid-August before the Miami U term begins on Aug. 27. I'm worried about my expenses for June. I have another week and a conversation with Randy to decide.
DR Elmore, I'm unavailable August 8-11 (not away, just taking daytime papercrafting classes in Sharonville) and we'll be away the weekend of the 17th for my 50th high school reunion.

DR GINNY we are supposed to have superb weather this weekend!!!

I'm completely at sea about all of this at the moment. I was thinking somewhere around Aug 14-28 if I can get things together and June falls through. I'm definitely leery about leaving the cats for two weeks, no matter when.
-
And Annabelle and I are off to the vet.
-
Good luck.

I'm up, I'm up - five and a half hours of sleep or thereabouts.

I think that this will be my eighth CD from the Indiegogo campaign. I've been counting when I've sent my e-mails, and asking if that could be confirmed, but I've never gotten back any confirmation. Hopefully, I'm correct. :-\

Today we saw a new doctor, Dr Kahn, who's just delightful. She washed out Annabelle's nasal passages, gave her an antibiotic shot, suggested she could lose a pound, and recommended I purchase an air purifier. Her heart, lungs, and temperature were fine.

Our new dishwasher is being installed. After close to 5 months without one it will be strange to use a dishwasher again. I hope I like it the way it stacks, cleans, and dries.
-
Good luck, Jane!
-
Good afternoon.
-
I have Cecil in my thoughts and prayers today.
-
Also, my Birding Buddy is back in the hospital. I am very worried about her. I have not seen her since before my jury duty began over a month ago.
-
A question for FJL:
Do I have to pay federal income tax on the entire amount the county sent me -- both the fee and mileage reimbursement? Or just the fee?
-
Isn't it sad that they can't just let me have the stupid $12 per day. That pretty much just covered lunch downtown.
-
I slept 11 hours last night. Just up from a 2-hour nap.
-
Dishwasher compatibility vibes for DR JANE.
-
Not sure where it came from DR FJL....but they used a variation of it on a FRIENDS episode as well.....
-
I slept 11 hours last night. Just up from a 2-hour nap.
I'm jealous!
-
Good luck, Jane!
Thanks. It looks nice. Now I need a load of dishes to wash. That might take a couple of days.

I too would be worried.

We went out, had drinks, edamame, followed by an early dinner, returned, and not a single post while I was gone.
-
Had a somewhat productive meeting and am having to be strong about what the stage is going to look like for the concert. Our orchestra guy wants they symphony shell - wood paneling and ceiling and I do NOT want such an eyesore because he's got four five-minute segments during a two hour show and the rest is theatre and the paneling is off-putting and you can't light things with it.
-
Has anybody here ever used Penzeys spices?
I kept seeing ads for the on FB and after one particularly good sale I decided to give them a try.
-
They have a lot of blends and one I bought was their pork chop seasoning which I rubbed on a pork loin cut into medallions,
It was amazing...I am trying to cook using less fat and butter and oil so we can stop a few pounds
All I used was the spice and a little hit water in the skillet yo keep the mesh from sticking...I couldn't. believe how delicous it was with no oil or butter or pork fat
-
I use Penzy’s. Good stuff.
-
Had something new to me today: white velvet cake. It’s like red velvet cake without the dye and the cocoa powder.
It was with buttercream frosting and lemon curd. Must revisit when I’m home.
-
Hopefully using more spices and less fats will make us less fat too
-
We watched Roxanne tonight. Hard to believe the movie is 31 years old. Still charming.
-

Fat doesn’t make you fat.
-
Very little reading today. I did finish Balzac’s Les Chouans, the first novel printed under his own name. Bad historical novel, but it had its moments.
-
I use Penzy’s. Good stuff.
I had never heard of them and really bought because of a really good free offer ( and I am a sucker for a free offer)
When they were delivered to my office one of my coworkers said she bought from them and that they have brick and mortar stores as well as an online store.
I'm not sure I should be allowed to go into one of their stores ....I might be tempted beyond the budget
-
Great news about the Cole Porter CD. Decline and Fall has been a favorite for ages. Glad the sound is getting cleaned up.

Their Dallas store is huge. It’s like a candy shop for me. I’ve bought everything from beet powder to freeze-dried celery flakes from them. I guess I’m just a flake myself.

BK, something weird still going on with my Paypal. Could you check that my payment for the CD got in right?

Laura, that's an interesting question. I'll ask Monday, because now I'm curious. (NY for anyone I've seen has been a flat amount per jury day, no mileage, so i guess it's never come up.)

The air dried shallots I put in with the mushrooms with a little lemon and white cooking wine were delicate and sweet as well

It's been years since I was called but I don't recall mileage bring provided
-
Larry, I think I spoke off the cuff (without naming you) about what you'd done when you nominated "Sunday in the Park With George" for the Pulitzer. Did you pay the nomination fee yourself? Also, did you nominate it in your status as a musical theater scholar, or something along those lines, or did you just say you're a fan of theater and this show moved you?
-
On this ad for something called K-tape, the lady says "That means sore knees, that means sore back" - each time I see the ad, I expect her to follow that with "That means sore buns."
-
Laura, this was on google.
Types of Jury Pay
Compensation that you receive for your service as a juror is taxable income. Reimbursements for such things as meals, lodging and parking fees are, however, not income. In the federal court system, for example, you receive $40 a day for serving on a jury. That's income, and it's taxable. If you drive to and from the courthouse, the government will also pay you about 50 cents a mile for your trouble. That's a reimbursement, and you don't have to report it on your taxes or pay any income taxes on it.
I think this should link that page https://www.sapling.com/7831188/jury-duty-pay-reported-irs
-
FJL, yes came through fine. I immediately filed a dispute. :)
-
Thanks, FJL. They used to give out bus passes. Now they figure mileage. I guess no one used the bus passes and complained about having to pay for parking. I have always taken the bus or light rail downtown.
I come out ahead on mileage. But I was out of cash this time at the end of the month and was scrounging for change to pay for the bus passes. I didn't get the fee/reimbursement until after it was over.
-
One thing I never knew before was that the losing party gets charged for the jury fees. I found it in the history of the case online.
-
The previous two times I was called I didn't get cast in the role of juror. They gave bus passes those times. That's why I didn't remember what to do about the mileage, taxwise.

Glad the question could be answered so easily. As a tax person used to using the research books, it's interesting to see so much is findable on google in plain English that people used to need to come to tax preparers for. (That might cut down on the questions we really can't charge clients for. i don't think it will make more people do their own returns, but we'll see next year, I guess.)

Is that just the HHW joke you're using? Or did Skip tell you about the dispute I had to put in the past few days?

I am pleased that tonight we watched THE POST.

FJL, just our standard haineshisway.com joke about filing a dispute.

No posts in over two hours? Really?

It is unusually quiet tonigjt.

I was watching "Suits."
-
I'm about five episodes behind and want to see Meghan Markle's last episodes.

And finish the season.

That's my excuse...what's everyone else's??
