Well, you've read the notes, the notes were dry and ran, and now it is time for you to post until the dry cows come running home.

I watched 2/3 of "Man In An Orange shirt" last night.  30 minutes into the story, I got a phone call abut my friend Loyce from her ex-husband. When the call ended, we were into the 2nd half of the story.

Supposed to be 83 here today as opposed to 95 or whatever it got to yesterday, and the rain freshened things up pretty well. Tonight we get nice sleeping weather back, which is good.

I'm paying more attention to this than usual, for one lovely simple reason. Our central AC is giving up the ghost and will need to be replaced soon. It's the original unit from when the house was built 24 years ago, so it had a good run -- especially when I'm told the average expected life span of those things is 15 years.

I was the ONLY cast member from THE MOUSETRAP who did NOT use his book last night.   And I only called for line once....my SECOND line....

It's a pretty good play - I haven't yet figured out who the good actors are and who the bad ones are....well....I know a couple of the bad ones.....

I do enjoy the accents though, it's a Cook's Tour of the British Empire!  Sometimes all at once and sometimes from the same actor.

I saw HALF-TIME at Paper Mill the other day, which I really liked so much, possibly even more because of its themes and because I always love Nell Benjamin's work since LEGALLY BLONDE.  Even her lyrics for the MEAN GIRLS songs, which some critics say don't work as well as the book in that show, but as songs, they sound fine to me (tickets are just too hard to get right now, and therefore getting hiked up by the new Broadway "airline-style pricing" - so I think I'll wait until MEAN GIRLS demand dies down to see it).   But an unusual stage door thing happened.  Donna McKechnie, who is open about being 75, had a cute golf cart type vehicle waiting for her between shows to take her (I guess to the local restaurant) before the 7 pm show, so she can rest a bit, and when she stepped out of the stage door, she first told the waiting fans that she was going to take a seat, but then proceeded once seated to talk to everyone for as long as everyone wanted.   (There was a bench there for the fans while waiting, so why not for the performer while saying hi to the fans?)  It seemed having a place to sit made the interaction at the stage door a breeze for her, and i guess at 75 she needs no excuses for wanting to sit between two dance-heavy performances in one day, since she really seemed to be having a lovely time (or made everyone feel like she was).

Jrand - I wonder if the actors having a seat while they interact at the stage door is something that could catch on to the more regional scene?  "FDR" in ANNIE might have been an ideal role to keep the idea going.

I'd never seen it happen before, though.

Sourdough bread
Sourdough rolls
Rye

I really don't like wheat bread or pumpernickel.

Of late, I've been making my own sourdough, which is a huge effort because you have to use something called a "starter" which is essentially a bowl full of fermented batter. And you have to keep adding fresh water and flour to it every week, which is called "feeding". It's essentially my new pet, except I don't have to potty train it, and it doesn't cuddle. It's taken me a year of perfecting the recipe to get my bread to come out soft and fluffy, but it still doesn't taste all that flavorful. This week, I'm going to add a half teaspoon extra salt and two tablespoons of brown sugar and see if that helps.

Ever since I finished my jury duty, I have been reading about how juries are chosen. Not only are the lawyers given our names in advance, they also do extensive background checks, including scouring our Facebook pages. I did a google search for juror questionnaires, and some of them ask very intrusive questions. These questionnaires are part of the record and can be released to the media in big cases.

For me the problem with the sour dough starter is the smell.

Yes I liked DR FJL's story as well....

Some folks may not want to ENCOURAGE the Stage Door experience - if they are in a hurry.

Donna McKechnie has always been fun in interviews - I especially like to watch her when she talks about her time - and exit - on DARK SHADOWS....

DR FJL as soon as the stage went black, FDR had to jump out of his wheelchair and run backstage.....I got caught twice when the lights came up for the beginning of the bows....and had to get my glasses out of my coat pocket at the same time....

It was a Christmas miracle in June....

Kneading dough is peaceful and relaxing. Naturally, the best bread I’ve made is the no-knead variety.

Fruit breads are a different matter. They’re kinda fun. Zucchini bread can be good, rhubarb bread even more so. Since I don’t eat bananas, I never have any leftovers for banana bread. But I may want to try a tropical version with coconut, macadamia nuts and maybe caramel.

When I first went on FB if you sent your received a friend invite it did open your page.  Along time ago that stopped.  Has it changed again?  I try to be more diligent about deleting friend requests from people I don't know, and reporting those that are duplicate scams.

I went to the bank today to take care of some business. I asked for a receipt for the fees involved in a transaction. The nice young man helping me said there was no way to do that. WHAT??!! We went round and round, then he asked his manager. The manager said the same thing. WHAT??!! I again explained what I needed to the young man. He then went into my account on the computer, found the details, and printed it out. Viola! Honestly! This should have been a simple, 5-minute transaction. Do today's employees just not know the computer systems they're working on?

Stopped at Ralph's and got the wrap I like, came home and ate that all up - very good and light.  I think I've gotten rid of most of the gunk - but it's an allergy kind of day - took my pill right around noon and so far it's keeping them at bay.  Bottom line is I'm thinking I might just get through this tonight - maybe not full strength but strong enough to at least sell the songs.

You barely mix the ingredients together and then let it set for 24 hours, then you bake it in a Dutch oven that's been heated in a 500-degree oven (watch out for the steam when you lift the lid), then you put it back in the oven and bake at high heat for a while, then uncover (more steam) and finish it off. It's got a crust almost as wonderful as a sourdough loaf.

So can my mom!  Once not too long ago, she took a plate out of the oven that she had in there to keep it warm and handed it to me and I literally almost dropped it because it was SO HOT!  I can't believe that she could hold it without any potholders or towels or anything!  I was just barely able to set the plate down on her kitchen cart without breaking it (the plate...the cart was pretty safe). :-\

Don't know how far I'll get into it, but I've started Don't Look Back, the doc about early Bob Dylan. Exciting performances.

In addition to Summer, we have a musical about Cher coming up and a musical about Michael Jackson.

Who else? Neil Diamond, I can see. The Carpenters.

The hard part is dealing with the Dutch oven. It burned through one of my potholders that was supposedly nuclear proof.

Oh my, not for my delicate hands.  I am serious.  I seem to be rather sensitive to heat and burn easily.  Keith can eat and hold things much hotter than I can tolerate them.

;D

Your mother is impressive,

Well, I need to leave work now and walk home.  On a whim, I decided to walk to work today and now need to walk back home because of my morning whim.

Be back later.

I am very proud of you.

I didn't know about the Cher or the Michael Jackson musicals.  I like both of them as performers, but I have no interest in seeing musicals about their lives...unless a tour comes here to Olympia and I can usher and see it/them for free.

Oh well, I am sure people will show up for those shows, but the show is really just an impersonator show.

Summer: The Donna Summer Musical (http://www.ibdb.com/broadway-production/summer-517215) on Broadway now also has three actresses playing the lead at different times in her life.

Actually, not too bad.  It was still warm at 7:15 this evening, but I didn't have a jacket or sweater or any kind of bag with me.  I just wore a t-shirt and jeans and had my sunglasses.

Exactly!  But if I was REALLY needed at work and my car was stuck, I could bundle up and walk in the snow.  It takes less than 15 minutes at a slow pace.

My debit card didn’t bounce, so it couldn’t have been too expensive.
