Well, you've read the notes, the notes had drama 101, and now it is time for the dramatic cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: BENEVOLENT!
-
First post after BK!
-
After work last night, I did some more prop shopping, but I have some questions to ask the director. I need to know (among other things) how many laptops does she want? And books and textbooks are mentioned throughout the show. How many of those does she think should be used. Things like that.
-
I'm off to bed now.
Have a good day, all!
-
Did the update - fifty damn minutes.
-
Good morning, all!
-
In 45 minutes I shall head down to 22nd Street to see my podiatrist.
-
Good morning, all!

Good morning, all.

And it is Tuesday and it is family night rehearsal.....
We shall see who gets caught in the Mousetrap. Here is the lively cast and never a more beautiful, cooperative, and collaborative group was ever on the stage at the PCPH....
Or NOT........

I am sorry MR BK is experiencing drama offstage....it seems endemic to the process....I would guess that said person will soon announce that he is also suffering from fibromyalgia......

Today, music practice. Life has been anything and everything but music these past couple of months, and it's time to get back. The theater at the Abbey is doing SHE LOVES ME this summer. I'm not involved with that, but I am playing for a little "Afternoon Cabaret" this Sunday in which the leads will be demonstrating their wares so I have to get back up to speed on those songs. Several other things will be sung, including "Haled's Song About Love" from THE BAND'S VISIT and "In My Dreams" from ANASTASIA which is very beautiful music.
Mother Dolores Hart will be doing a reading which I think is going to be from TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD. It will be good to be back there to see her and everyone else again. It's been a year since I did that event with her and Tomie DePaola...who by the way I hear is not in the greatest of health these days.
-
...in that movie, she sat in the principal's office and stated her case clearly and concisely and with strong words said she would NOT change her position, stood up, and staunchly walked....
A moment later she came back: ".....I forgot my purse...."
It really was wonderful how she did that one line and added some facial expressions and movements....she can be comedy gold....
-
DR CHAS SMITH, her documentary was terrific! It was just too short!!!
-
I know! Her life has been utterly fascinating.

Jrand - thanks for those wonderful photos!

Is this comment meant to be condescending about a condition that is mental vs physical?
I should warn you I am a bit sensitive about the subject :)

So, as I began playing through the SHE LOVES ME material I realized I'd never really worked on these songs.
Ever.
I've "known" them forever, and I've played the show, but that's only been from the standpoint of a ridiculously insane synth book. Of course people bring the title song and "Vanilla Ice Cream" and such into auditions, and you get through it, but sitting down and really working on them? Not till now, and it's most satisfying.
-
DR JANE those who have the condition have my sympathy and understanding....those who USE the condition as an excuse do not...
-
On a better note thanks to DR JANE & KEITH for the lovely card that arrived today.
-
How's the foot DR ELMORE?
-
HA! the pictures are more fun and entertaining than the production will probably be....but thanks to the Dear Readers for their comments.
-
DR JANE those who have the condition have my sympathy and understanding....those who USE the condition as an excuse do not...
I can appreciate that.

You are welcome.
-
DR JANE those who have the condition have my sympathy and understanding....those who USE the condition as an excuse do not...
What about people who use the condition "grateful dead aunt," I wonder. :)
-
Not to be confused with the grateful dead, of course.
-
I regret to say I was guilty of using the condition "dead grandmother" a few times too many back in my school days.
-
DR FJL the dead aunt has become a legend of lore that has already been used in my family.....long may she wave....I think she trumps just about any other excuse or reason for lax or irritating behavior.
-
How's the foot DR ELMORE?
The feet are in great shape! I wish the remainder of my body and life were.

My neighbor Mark dropped by to tell me he had finally spoken to the idiot on the fifth floor. The idiot's version is that he went out, got drunk, ordered Chinese food, and became sick so he called his girlfriend, whose apartment he is living while she's staying on Long Island, She called 911, and when the police showed up at his door, he refused to answer, so they broke in, arrested him and took him away in handcuffs. He was released at 4:30am.
Since the cop told me it had to do with suicide, Mark and I think he got drunk, called Lisa and threatened to kill himself. She called 911 and the rest of the story jives.
-

Another song someone is doing is “Hurry! It’s Lovely Up Here” and I just listened to it, following the score, for the first time in many years. OMG. I’d totally forgotten how different so much of this show is from what’s on the cast album.

Maybe CAMELOT, too.

Somebody did. Lerner’s assistant. It’s all about the trips to Dr Feelgood while Lerner was tripping out and trying to write On s Clear Day ...

Very gossipy. Quick read.

Anyone here read that one? Any good?
I got bored with it. I really liked Lerner's book, The Street Where I Live.
-
I'm up, I'm up - seven and a half hours of sleep - got up at 10:30, did stuff, had telephonic calls, then went and had a late breakfast, picked up a package, dropped Grant at a tire place (he was getting a new tire), and now I'm home and organizing and getting ready for today's rehearsals.

As ChasSmith knows, on one of those Remember Facebook pages someone posted a great drive down Hollywood Blvd., identifying the year as 1965. I watched it and immediately corrected the year, which was 1966, specifically March of 1966 - I know that because it's very simple to identify when certain movies opened, in this case Madame X. I think he got fooled (the guy who posted) by Thunderball playing at the Chinese, which did come out in 1965 but not until just before Christmas, so in this driving shot it's near the end of its three-month run there.
-
I very fondly remember seeing THUNDERBALL on Christmas Day, in the late afternoon at the newest theater in town, in Plantation, Florida. IMDb says it opened on the 21st in NYC, 22nd in USA. It was my first time to go to a movie on Christmas, and the excitement for the film was palpable, with full houses every showing. My piano teacher and his wife were coming out of the previous showing. Golden age of movie going, man. I never fail to savor this moment in history when watching the film.

Tuesday afternoon greetings! Rebecca and I met at noon at the public library in Hamilton for the EDUCATED book talk, then went to a new downtown deli for lunch. I am home now trying to gear myself up to go to the grocery. We need everything!

Andrew Davies has adapted Jane Austen’s short, unfinished novel Sanditon for Masterpiece. It’s longer than his adaptation of War and Peace.

Well, this is cool! I just won a free Kindle book from Goodreads.com! They have regular giveaways (https://www.goodreads.com/giveaway) and for the first time, I won one! It's volume 2 of the 3-volume set: Humans: The Untold Story of Adam and Eve and their Descendants (Volume Two: Mjomba and the Evil Ghost) (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015QNF94M/).
-
I, of course, did have to buy the other two. ::)
-
At least those two were each half the cost of the regular price of the one that I got for free! ;D

It might be. You never know. Right now, I'm reading the first book in the series, The Expanse (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BYNTMW7), so I need to finish that (and I think something else that's waiting in line) before I can start to read the first book in this new series.
-
And, even if I paid for what might turn out to be poorly written books, I've gotten so many for free from the library that I don't mind paying a little for some not-so-great books once in a while. ;)
-
Good afternoon.

Either scenario I am having trouble understanding why he was arrested. It seems they would have taken him to the hospital for observation or left him in the apartment.

Was an opinion expressed if she was remembering the truth. Her parents dispute the poor home schooling and use the fact that 3 children of doctorate degrees. Of course they dispute the other stuff with her brother never happened to her.

Maybe because he was inside, wouldn't open the door, and they had to break in to find he was a drunk dumbass for simply not speaking to them?

Can you tell I bought a six-movie set? The only one I had was the wonderful We're Not Dressing with Lombard, Bing Crosby, Ethel Merman, Burns and Allen, and more. I'll watch it again.

I came home tonight and did. I made Ben & Jerry's Pistachio Bread. Quite good, but the dough was so scant that I would need double for a regular loaf.

Be back later.

Bye, George.

Watched Nick Redman interview Stella Stevens in an extra to The Ballad of Cable Hogue. Great western. Hard to believe it was such a failure at the time of its original release.
I remember watching it back in college when I would sneak into the film classes to watch whatever they were showing on a big screen.

Hello, 1 guest!
-
Do you think we'll ever get to page five?
-
I may be asleep before then, though.
-
It's only 10 posts.
-
But I'm not TCB.
-
I hope he's feeling better.
-
I've started listening to Todd Purdum's Something Wonderful, a bio of Rodgers and Hammerstein.
-
The Hammerstein stuff is fairly interesting. Hart is more interesting than Rodgers.
-
I've only gotten to the start of the Oklahoma! collaboration.
-
The author is doing the reading, and he uses words that he knows but doesn't know how to pronounce. Like louche, which he pronounces with a hard ch sound, not an sh.
-
Oh well, here we go.
-
One more.
-
Five!
-
Good night, all.
-
Rehearsal is over - barely. I'm having to deal with a very stressed out person and because of the stress a lot of extra work has fallen on my shoulders.

Bruce I hope the guy is ok after the move and you can stop doing is job.
-
I think you mean "start" doing his job - he's not doing his job at all. I literally had to tell him not to do ANYTHING until after he's done the move on Friday other than our rehearsal for ninety minutes tomorrow.
-
He doesn't know these posts exist, does he?
-
Good evening.
-
I woke up this morning with the whirlies. I cancelled lunch and went back to bed.

I got up around two.

Well, this is not good! Costco cuts Polish hot dogs -- and tweeters are hangry (https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/costco-cuts-polish-hot-dogs-and-tweeters-are-hangry/ar-AAzR4h6?OCID=ansmsnnews11). I don't know when they'll be removed from the local Costcos (if they haven't been already), but it'll be a sad day. :(
-
They'll still have the regular hot dog, but I did prefer the Polish.
-
HERE (https://finance.yahoo.com/news/why-costco-food-court-no-151234898.html) is another article that says this about who's going to lose their dogs:
The company isn’t making this change at all of its stores, though. Reports claim that stores kicking the polish hot dog to the curb are located in and around the Seattle area. Costco food courts in other parts of the U.S. are still carrying the polish hot dog.
.
-
I wonder if Lacey and Tumwater are considered "in and around the Seattle area."
-
I prefer the all-beef hot dog.
-
I have removed my post and removed it from the posts that quoted it - I was just venting and I should not do that here, but I always feel on this board it's safe. But it's not fair.
