Well, you've read the notes, the notes were portly, and now it is time for you to post until the portly cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: BRIO!
-
First post after BK.
-
As a confirmed portly person, I can assure you that I have gone out with two or three other guys for pizza, and we have each ordered our own pizza. The idea being that we all love leftover pizza, and this way we each to take home our own pie.
-
And with that, I will say, good night!
-
Good early morning
-
It took me a long time to fall asleep and woke up early. I hope I can last the whole day.
-
Thank you, George, for posting my tintype last night. Someday you must reach me your trick
-
I think Vixdad came out particularly well
-
I am up, showered and dressed. I need to get to work early.
-
I was so disheartened on Friday night I just left my desk in a disarray and left at 7 with at least 2 hours of work sitting there
-
I hope I get to sit down with the boss and talk about how things are going to move forward
-
I am really furious at this coworker and it us going to be very hard seeing her today
-
On April 28, 1993 at approximately 9 pm after a long day of babysitting my 1 year old neice I ate 4 large slices of mushroom pizza with sesame crust and drank approximately a liter of coke
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept very poorly. I had to contend with two cats and the heat. Around 3 AM I turned on the AC.
-
It's going to be a very warm day. As soon as Annabelle and I make our patrol, I'm doing the laundry.
-

Sounds like it. Look back a couple of days -- the co-worker gave notice for quitting the job, and I believe her departure coincides with the start of vixmom's vacation.
-
And good morning, all.
-
Yep, we're in for a hot & humid one today. By Wednesday we're (up here) supposed to be back in the low 80s, but not today, and I'm guessing not tomorrow either.
-
I've had my share of portly meals, and there have been a few bad ones. Meaning, I've done it to the point that I really felt bloated (in a bad way, not just "very full") and felt close to being sick for hours afterward. I can probably come up with half a dozen times that this has happened over the years. And yes, pizza was certainly a culprit a few of those times.
-
Glad that MR BK avoided the drama at the SE rehearsals.
I am off today....sending back my mom's Comcast cable box....doing some banking, etc.
Then I shall have the day to myself. My sister and I MAY move my computer table in here so that the room would be basically done, except for the few boxes and the jewelry cabinet that my sisters still have to go through....

TOD:
One day in 1993, I was on a trip with my fellow staff members at The Society of Professional Journalists to Washington D.C.
The president of said society - I was his administrative assistant - took us all to a seafood restaurant in Baltimore. I ordered a Seafood Medley....and the food just kept coming....it was very good and I ate it all up...and the expense account paid for it.
And that is my story of eating the most at one sitting - although I, too, can eat almost a WHOLE medium pizza by myself. I haven't done it in awhile, and I probably won't given my current circumstances, body system wise....but I am tempted...OH YES...I AM TEMPTED....
-
I yes I am portly to some folks....
-
Though not as portly as I was a little over a year ago....240 pounds is just TOO MUCH for me to weigh.
-
The laundry is in the washers. I ran into Val in the basement, and he informed me he is lookig for a new job. Annabelle and I are heartbroken, and I suspect other tenants will be as well if/when her goes.
-
He's on his third year here, and the rental management will not provide healthcare for him, and they are probably not providing it for the many supers on their properties. He expected a check this week for the week of vacation and was informed that it was used to pay his sub, who did a really shitty job while he was away, so that means the management is not paying vacation pay. What a lousy company.
What really was surprising, since i asked him, how many tenants gave him a Christas bonus for the great job he does, was that he estimated he only received a bonus from maybe 25 tenants out of the 80+ apartments he supervises. That's really insulting.
-

I can imagine. Vibes it goes well.

I am truly sorry as he is a rare gem.

That is shocking.
-
I need to get out for a walk before it is too hot.
-
OMG, everything about the news about Val is shocking. And disgusting. What a shitty management company they are, if that's how they operate. And of course it would be sad, regardless, losing Val. Horrible news, and I'm sorry to hear it, DR Elmore.

Annabelle has asked me for a black arm band.
-
And here's another gratuitous rant, as I continue becoming familiar with the ways o' Facebook:
For the love of God, does almost no one entering a thread ever scroll back just a little bit to see what's already been asked and responded to, before adding their repetitious and utterly useless post that duplicates a hundred others?
On one site, we called that "being on Write Only" -- meaning, you'd enter a new thread and start mindlessly posting without informing yourself where the conversation was. It was considered a negative thing, not good "netiquette", and was highly discouraged. (It was a small site, where you could actually discourage stupid behavior.)
-
Oh, and about the end of year tips for the super. I thought that was considered the thing to do, practically everywhere. That percentage truly is shocking, but even more so when you've got a GREAT super.
-
Monday morning greetings! I have a cardiology check-up this afternoon. No surprises expected...
-
DR Elmore, I'm sorry to hear you might lose Val. It reminds me of the nurse at our family doctor's office for whom they had to have a garage/bake sale when she had a major medical crisis. The practice does not provide health insurance for their employees.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Job vibes for Vixmom.
-
Superintendent vibes for Elmore.
-
Good morning.
-
I had a horrible night of trying to sleep; or, at least, to get comfortable.
-
I was up by 6:15.

TOD
So, one day while writing the BBQ book, I ate st 8 different joints, including my favorite in the state. I ended the day with the most delicious BBQ crabs, six on a plate. I cleared every last one of them, they were so good.
I can’t do that anymore.
-
Elmore, I am so sorry to hear the news about Val wanting to leave.
-
The man gets no respect from his tenants or his bosses.
-
Thinking about DR Vixmom's workday...
-
The air is very stagnant this morning.
-
I don't believe the temperature ever got down into the 60's last night.
-
Nick is out like a trout!
-
Gee, Ginny, Educated is only getting worse and worse. And I’m only nearing the halfway mark.
-

I am sweating like crazy! I am going back to the air-conditioned bedroom.

I don't blame her :(

It was a breeze to read after "The Sound of Gravel".

I responded to the story vs the writing. I think the writing was better with "The Sound of Gravel".

Hope all is Ok at work today, vixmom!
-
Larry, had Val known before his vacation that he was not going to be paid for it?
-
TOD: At the Painted Horse Restaurant in Florida, where it was "all you can eat" and they didn't make it difficult to order more or stay as long as we wanted. It must have been in the 1960s or 1070s because both my grandparents one my mom's side were both still with us.
-
Even at the buffets in Vegas, where it's of course all-you-can-eat, I tended to get a sense that they'd like to see you open up a table for another group when the place was full. (we felt this at the Bellagio, but that was ten years ago; my brother even commented on it, that it was noticeable all over the dining area, but we really had time to kill, and he didn't want us all to be tempted by the casino. Of course, a well-placed $10 bill to the person assigned to our section got us less targeted for buffet eviction. :) ).
At the Stratosphere Hotel, though, where my mom and I hit the buffet after an afternoon performance of the variety show there, it was not nearly full - so they seemed happy to have us hang out, to help give an appearance that the place had customers. Nothing is scarier to someone scoping out a buffet than no one eating - images of dishes sitting there since breakfast time come to mind.
-
TCB, thanks for the Last Starfighter thoughts in last night's late posts. I guess I'll have a sense of the later performances whenever the videos of the songs are ready, as I'm told they will be from two performances later in the run.
(Since our royalties are a flat amount, not based on gross, we don't get info on how they sold. But the theater folk seemed very happy about the whole shebang.)
-
Larry, had Val known before his vacation that he was not going to be paid for it?
No.
-
The book club at work has chosen Hillbilly Elegy for our next read.
-
I may need some images of Middletown to share with them, Ginny.
-
Not as warm as usual this afternoon....continuing on the collect and distribute.....moving things from one room to another and WAITING on someone to come and get the stuff that they just HAVE to have! In the meantime it's in the way...in a box....just setting there....
-
Vibes for Vixmom.
For almost twenty years I sat at my computer facing east and working....I am now facing south....it is disconcerting to be spinning on the earth in a different direction....
-
Larry, had Val known before his vacation that he was not going to be paid for it?
No.
My question, which DR elmore might not be asking, is if Val has a work contract. Those usually state paid vacation time if it included. I hope Val's next job will include benefits and paid vacation.
-
Getting used to spinning on the earth in a different direction vibes for DR Jrand.

Well, it's none of my business, and I know that he's looking for work that will provide these benefits. What I suspect is my building management is taking advantage of immigrant employees.

LOL! No. I suspect that many employees take advantage of legal immigrants when they arrive.
-
I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep. As soon as I got up at ten I had many e-mails to deal with and then I went and had an early lunch and picked up packages, so that I could devote the entire afternoon up to writing intros - I also put gas in the motor car.
-
Listening to music and writing intros as of right NOW.
-
Oh, and the portly people and their pizzas - I don't think any of those four people were taking home leftovers - and these were big pizzas - ten slices each. :)
-
I was watching GREASE this afternoon.....I stopped to watch the dance contest, which is still my favorite part of the movie....so much happening....AND Edd Byrnes does a front handspring at the end of the song and catches a microphone someone throws to him!

Right. It is one of those situations where I would want to put my nose where it doesn't belong and offer advice-lol

I can very easily overeat until I am sick. It is one thing to do so because the food is extra good, however, I am capable of doin so just because I will eat anything in sight if it is tasty or not.
-
My most memorable over eating experience was when I was 15 (?). My sister returned from college with this method to eat all we wanted and not gain any weight. I joined her eating all of our favorite foods including a ton of ice cream. We ate our hearts out. At least once she took a break to throw up the food she had eaten. As much as I tried I could not and I truly tried knowing I would feel better.
I must have gained several pounds while my sister did not gain at all. Of course she went on to have a major issue while I thankfully did not.
-

Knowing Keith would appreciate your observation I shared your pizza story.

In my chubby days, well chubby according to all the people who told me I needed to lose 10 pounds, my parents took us to Vegas. To say thank you we took them to the buffet at Caesars Palace. No one attempted to hurry us out and we were there a long time because I kept returning to the buffet for more food. Finally my father looked at Keith and asked if I could really eat all that food. Keith laughed and said yes. I don't recall being sick at all after brunch.
There is no way I could eat that much food today.

Today in Helsinki . . .

Good evening!

Clean cardiology check-up today!

Clean cardiology check-up today!
Great to hear. Keep up the good work.
-
Alternating between the heat outside and the cold, cold air blowing on me inside I will be lucky not to get a summer cold.
-
I went for a swim for the first time today. I don't know why I haven't been going on these hot days. I wore new dark tinted goggles which were much better in the sun.
-
Well my coworker decided to withdraw her 2 week notice
-
And instead just not come back at all
-
Bitch
-
Bitch
Did you check your messages?
-
Clean cardiology check-up today!
Hooray!

What makes this so wonderful is the image of your smiling face from your mug shot.

Gratuitous post No. 100!

Started watching Time Regained, a film version of the last volume of In Search of Lost Time. But I had to take a break. Three hours of Proust is a lot to absorb. Still, the movie is fascinating. Catherine Deneuve looks phenomenal. Her daughter does, too. And the feeling of the novel seems to have been captured.
-
So, I'm watching the last of the Carole Lombard movies, something called Hands Across the Table. Fred MacMurray is back. And Ralph Bellamy.
-
And instead just not come back at all
Wow! Did she let the boss know or just not show up?
-
The latest Randy Rainbow is genius.

I'm starting to watch Spike Lee's remake of Oldboy. I honestly can't remember if I have seen the original, but I'm enjoying the story.

That's incredible. Is she assuming she'll never need you guys to be a reference? (She may be in for a surprise down the road.).

Had a good rehearsal with Sami then we went to hear the orchestra rehearse. Since I've heard them play before I knew what that was going to be, but Richard Allen hadn't. The only thing I cared about was that the timings I'd asked for were being adhered to and happy to say they were and we're going to be a couple of minutes less, which is good since I was informed that the Mayor of BH will be giving a welcome speech at the top of the show - this after we were told that would NOT be happening. So, I've stressed that his speech should be brief and certainly not longer than two minutes.
-
Then I dropped Richard at his car and I went to Ralph's - nothing I looked at looked any good to me and everything calorie-wise was as much as an In-N-Out burger, so I simply went and got one of those. It was great.
-
DR Vixmom I wish you could leave your job.
-
Of course you would do it properly, unless your boss tries to cancel your vacation ;)
-
Good evening.
-
Page 4? Still?
-
One more post.
-
Page 5
-
As usual, I am alone.
-
It is about 80 degrees in the bedroom.
-
Outside it is down to 74.
-
I really can’t tell the difference.
-
There is no breeze to speak of.
-
It is only supposed to be 85 degrees tomorrow.
-
And by Wednesday it will drop into the 70’s.
-
The humidity is only 17%, which is really low, even for us.
-
I can’t deal with the heat anymore.
-
Give me 75 degrees, and I am very happy.
-
Good night.
-
I'm home.
-
Actually, I've been home for about an hour and a half.
-
Today, I went on a field trip to the Sno-Isle Library Service Center in Marysville, Washington.
-
It's about 100 miles north of where I work.
-
This morning, it took us about 2 1/2 hours to drive up there.
-
We left Tumwater at about 7:00 am, and got there around 9:30.
-
We ate breakfast at a nice little diner in Marysville, about a mile and a half from where we were going.
-
I had scrambled eggs, hash browns, bacon and an English muffin.
-
The eggs were a little dry, but otherwise it wasn't bad.
-
We ate and then got to the Service Center for our tour.
-
We met the four people who showed us around.
-
Everyone we met was very nice. :)
-
They do somethings very differently than we do, but seeing a different perspective, we got some ideas.
-
I know that there are some things that we won't do like they do, but there might be some things that we might incorporate into our processes.
-
After the tour (it lasted a little over three hours), we went to a local casino for a lunch buffet.
-
We had to walk through the kind of smoky casino. :P
-
But a lot of air was moving, so it wasn't too bad.
-
The food wasn't bad...not fantastically great, but definitely enjoyable, and there certainly were a lot of options.
-
PAGE SIX DANCE!!
-
I didn't take pictures of anything. ::)
-
We got back to our Service Center around 6:15 pm. Everyone else in our group left since we'd been there since 7:00 am, but I decided to stay since I was going to go to the first rehearsal for Legally Blonde and didn't want to just home home to wait, so I stayed until 6:45.
-
The rehearsal was just to introduce everyone to each other and to read through the script and listen to and sing with (if they wanted) the Broadway "soundtrack." :o
-
The director kept calling it the "soundtrack."
-
Ugg. :P
-
;)
-
Anyway, some of the people have been working on their lines and songs, so they knew them already. I think I'd heard that the girl playing Elle (the lead) had actually played the role before, so if that's correct, she's got a leg up on everyone else. There are a lot of good singers in this cast.
-
The one prop that I brought was a ring that would be a real good engagement ring for Vivienne, and fortunately it fit the actress' finger! I was worried about that because I don't know what size the ring is and I had no idea what ring size her finger would be either. But they matched!
-
Hoo and Ray!
-
I still have a lot of props to get or to put together, but I've got a good start on them. I was even able to get 10, count 'em, TEN laptops to use!
-
Fortunately, they don't work, so I don't have to worry too much about the internal computer parts getting damaged...only the outer cases. Those can be damaged and that would not be good.
-
And now to ketchup on today's posts!
-
As a confirmed portly person, I can assure you that I have gone out with two or three other guys for pizza, and we have each ordered our own pizza. The idea being that we all love leftover pizza, and this way we each to take home our own pie.

You're welcome! This one was actually quite easy. I just downloaded the picture from FB to my computer, and because it was a smaller file size than the 192 KB maximum, I was able to just upload it as an attachment in my post.
-
I am up, showered and dressed. I need to get to work early.
I was actually able to get to sleep (a little later than I wanted, but still early enough), and get up in time to get to work on time, which was three and a half hours earlier than I usually do!
-
Whew!!
-
I hope I get to sit down with the boss and talk about how things are going to move forward
Good luck, Vixmom!

Sounds like it. Look back a couple of days -- the co-worker gave notice for quitting the job, and I believe her departure coincides with the start of vixmom's vacation.
Yup...not good co-worker behavior. ::)
