Well, you've read the notes, the notes were both high and mighty, and now it is time for you to post until the high and mighty cows come home - they've been smoking the MOOrijuana cigarettes again.
-
And the word of the day is: DEPORTMENT!
-
First post after BK.

First post after TCB.

Actually, our murder mystery dinners are basically an entire evening of food and entertainment, so with the time they had available, they did okay.

Bob Woodward was on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Very fascinating.
-
He was talking about his book, Fear: Trump in the White House (https://www.amazon.com/dp/1501175513/). It's officially being released today.

I loved Nathan’s drive-ins and restaurants on the East coast. Out here, there are not a lot of places that specialize in hot dogs. Sonic has several different dogs, but I wasn’t crazy about them. I love Costco’s $1.50 hot dog and a drink.
At home I usually buy either Nathan’s or Hygrade hot dogs. Always grilled, almost never boiled. And all-beef dogs only.
I like mine with mustard and relish, or mustard and sauerkraut. My favorite way is a grilled hot dog with chili, cheese and onions.

Wow! Today is 9/11. Seventeen years ago. It was also a Tuesday wasn’t it?

I really hadn't heard much, so it was all new to me.

My library has ordered the physical book and there are 264 holds! :o There are only 24 holds for the e-book. I put my hold on that. ;)

I keep hoping it will be gone when I get up in the morning. We have plans for tomorrow night I was looking forward to. Of course by now I realize we are staying home.

It's on Capitol Blvd., here in Tumwater. It's just a few blocks from where I live. But it's not open 24 hours. They open at 10:30 every day, and close at 8:00 on M-Sat (except 8:30 on Fridays) and 7:00 on Sundays.

I don't remember. Eagan's doesn't seem to have a regular website, only a Facebook page:

Does this look familiar?

Actually my current favorite hot dog is OscayMayer Natural uncured angus beef bun length hot dogs. http://www.oscarmayer.com/our-products/hot-dogs/00044700063767

Grilled are best but fried up in a pan with a touch of butter or as I'll have them at work, wrap in Reynolds wrap and cook in toaster oven
They must be eaten with guide a spicy brown mustard and sauerkraut. And if you can sprinkle some caraway seeds in the sauerkraut so much the better.
Served on a toasted potato roll please
-
Although a Costco hotdog can't be beat, especially for the price

yesterday was an ok day at work and I left at 5:45 and drive a coworker home. She has been pulled into service to cover m desk while I was on vacation at the end of July, beginning of August and again when I was in Canada at the end of August. She has become my biggest advocates avian seen first hand exactly what is bring asked of me
-
It was nice to hear the unsolicited support
-
Since I actually got out so much earlier than usual I stopped home and seasoned the chicken I had left to defrost during the day...
Penzeys granulated shallots and Foxpoint seasoning, rubbed in well and then popped back in the fridge... Then off to get vixdad from the station
-
Yes his car is STILL at the shop
-
It rained ALL day yesterday so t was actually better for vixdad that I picked him up as I could get him right from the. Covered portion of the platform rather than him having to trudge the 1/2 Mike through the rain to the car park
-
They recently redesigned the area around the train station. Where there used to be parking there are now shops and apartments, right next to the trains, because who doesn't want a train rumbling past their bedroom window. The parking lots were "conveniently" located about 1/2 mile away across two busy streets and on the far side of the apartments
-
Idiots
-
We came home and I made some rice pilaf, steamed some broccoli and cooked up the chicken in a spidge of butter in a skillet
-
It was yummy
-
Cleaned up the kitchen, put on my pjs sat in the recliner with my soft comfy throw to ketchup here and then it was now
-
I have a sore throat
-
As of yesterday the doctor was still waiting on insurance authorization so have not yet been able to book the CT or PET
-
Good morning, all.
-
Sore throat-free vibes for Jane, Vixmom and everyone else in need.
-
I'm hungry. But I can’t eat until after a blood test this morning.
-
Good morning, all!

Back in the mid or late 1990s, when Paramount released THE HIGH AND THE MIGHTY onto DVD, they had a huge event at the studio. Surviving members of the cast were there for the screening and dinner, and we all got a package of John Wayne movies on DVD, as well as a HIGH AND THE MIGHTY T-shirt, which I still have.
I recall sitting at a table with Gonzolez-Gonzolez, a charming man.
-
Yes, DR TCB, Sept. 11, 2001 was a clear blue Tuesday. My memory is that it was a week of very lovely weather. I had flown to London two or three days earlier, and Monday Sept. 10 was our first day of recording Victor Herbert's The Lady of the Slipper at Henry Wood Hall.
-
Joshie is working without me today, so I have other things to accomplish at home.
-
Good morning to all
-
Last full day in Montreal. The temp dropped 30 degrees in a matter of days. Going from the high 80's/low 90's to the mid 50's.

When you saw the High and The Mighty had they added the vocal version of the theme song to the end of the movie yet?
-
Good morning, all.

I'm just back from Westchester Co. Airport, where I dropped off Kristi and Nathan for their long delayed Fifth Anniversary trip to Florida.
It's so long delayed that this is actually their SIXTH anniversary. Their plans all went to hell in a handbasket last year when she was suddenly faced with illness that resulted in two (count 'em) unexpected surgeries. They took that short interim trip to Savannah in February, which got them through the year with at least part of their sanity intact. But they really needed the real getaway, and now they've got it. They're doing the Disney thing -- two nights in the Polynesian, and five more at the French Quarter. This will be heavenly for them.
-
The airport was, like, empty! We were the only car driving up to curbside to let them out.
They think that's a 9/11 thing, but I'm not sure. Do a lot of people really not fly on 9/11, even now? I could understand that happening for a few years after the event, but still? I dunno.
-
Let's be clear about this.
-
And it's always served with french fries.
-
I like many other varieties, too. No question.
Especially good chili dogs. With cheese and onions. Or at least the onions. A Nathan's chili dog is perfection.
But once you make a Chicago style hot dog part of your life, it will forever be #1. It's the true meal on a bun.
-
I like a hot dog with French Fries.....
-
One lovely and important variation, which you practically have to live there to discover, is a cucumber slice. It's usually in place of the dill pickle slice, but I've had them with both.
-
I don't think I've ordered a hot dog in a restaurant since I was 5 years old....there was a drug store in town with a lunch bar and the hot dogs were in a machine stuck on spikes and spinning around while they cooked.....it was fascinating to order one and watch the waitress pull yours off the spike with the bun in her hand....
Now I like to bake my hot dogs with some cheese salsa spread on them....for flavor...
Yes I am sophisticated that way.
-
Hot dogs and cucumbers? What next - hot dogs and avocados?
-
Heaven forfend, DR Jrand68! And I love avocados.
The cucumber is part of the entire package of flavors. It's wonderful.
One thing the Vienna Beef blurbs fail to mention is that the hot dog should be one with natural casing, for that bit of 'pop' when you bite into it. Not to mention, it should be a really good flavorful one. You could do without the natural casing, but make sure you get a quality torpedo.
-
And don't forget the sprinkle of celery salt. SO important. The finishing touch.
-
I haven't ordered a hot dog in a restaurant in a long time either, DR Jrand68. When would the last time have been? I really don't know.
Yes, I do know. Several years back, at this wonderful 1940s/1950s drive-in jernt here that still does car-hop service. I was sitting inside at the counter, about to order my standard wonderful cheeseburger, when I decided to try their hot dog for the first time in maybe twenty years. It was okay, but nothing to repeat or write home about.
And I did try the Chicago "style" one at Shake Shack several years ago. They had the basics more or less down, but it lacked a couple of things that I forget now. Stick to the burgers there, I pray you.
-
But those two are still fast food places, even though I was inside, sitting down. Not a deli or other kind of actual restaurant.
-
Well, I think we've had about enough of me and my hot dogs.
-
Feel better vibes for DR Jane!!
thanks. unfortunately my throat still hurts.

TOD:
Grilled is so much better than boiled. Mark and I really love the outdoor vendors who grill hot dogs outside after shows we attend. I know street vendors are very common in New York, but in Los Angeles they're a rarity, so to find a hot dog vendor is a real treat. We like it when they wrap them in bacon and put grilled bell peppers and onions on them.
-
Vibes for DR JANE.
DR AMY is correct.....grilled is best....but I still like oven baked over boiled dogs
So I baked my hot dogs for lunch today...Salsa dogs....
-
Vibes for DR VIXMOM and that missing car....and parking lot....what a disaster.....
-
Nice story DR DRUXY!!!
The High and the Mighty
The Naked and the Dead
The Pit and the Pendulum
The Agony and the Ecstasy
And their cousins:

thanks.

ins authorization vibes for vixmom and good blood test results for john.
-
thank you jrand.
-
Good morning.
-
My DH, who is from Chicago, occasionally takes me to the local Chicago hot dog stand. They are good, but I don't go with him very often.
-
I'm up, I'm up - almost eight hours of sleep.
-
I can't remember if the song was in The High and the Mighty or not. But I loved the movie and went back many times during that initial run.
-
Get-better vibes to vixmom and Jane.

TOD:
Fast food: Nathan's hot dogs. There's a place in Penn Station near where the big timetable used to be, that are especially tasty. (I hope it's not for some unhealthy reason.)
-
On a slightly classier level, I really enjoy Schnippers hot dog, especially with cheese.
http://www.schnippers.com/8th-41st/
-
Love a face full of frozen custard
To have a hot dog with sand and mustard
And ride the Ferris Wheel
Oh, honey, ‘cause that’s how young I feel!
-
Get-better vibes to vixmom and Jane.
thank you

Interesting. I've never heard of a sport pepper. Are they spicy or mild?
-
It's hot, but not too hot for my taste. (I can't take the super hot stuff.)
I believe I heard that some 90% of the entire crop of this variety goes to Chicago. I need to order some.

Thanks. They got there fine and are having a great (if hot and humid) time.
-
The ex-wife and I LOVED Nathan's hot dogs in 1969, when we lived in NY. They had the giant one in Times Square at 42nd Street (or 43rd?) - it was great. And cheap.
-
Their chili dog is just the right flavor and consistency, etc., for my taste.
-
I would have said the sports pepper was mild.
-
I would have said the sports pepper was mild.
Right. That wouldn't surprise me, considering you can probably take whatever they throw at you. :)

I have some very bizarre formatting weirdness going on with HHW.
It started in a single moment several days ago. I was in the process of posting something, and was aware of a split second when it seemed like I'd maybe clicked on something by accident. Whatever it was, the resulting post had strange formatting in it -- which I was able to correct, so I didn't initially think anything more of it. But that weirdness showed up again later, so I thought it might be the browser. I switched from Chrome to Firefox (on my Windows laptop), and that didn't fix it. Then I found that the weirdness happens in Safari on the iPad, so now it's cross-platform, but apparently only affecting my account on HHW. I haven't had any weirdness on any other website as of yet.
The latest thing I found is that I can't copy and paste text from anywhere else (whether a web site, or just Word) into the editing window here. It's either garbled, or completely replaced by dashes or some other symbol.
If anyone has a clue as to what kind of a problem this is, please speak up.
-
I just turned off "show WYSIWYG editor by default" and that seems to allow my pasting in some plain text.
Could be a clue. Might even be a fix? We'll see...
-
Vixmom, I couldn't help but be reminded, by your sad tale, of Lemon Laws. Don't know if any of this applies to your situation, but I found it interesting:

I had already rebooted both the PC and the iPad, neither of which helped since the problem seemed to be site specific. So I'm thinking this setting change I made is what needed to be done. Because ... so far, so good. I wonder if anyone else has the WYSIWYG option checked. It's in Profile, under Look and Layout.

Fenella Fielding, who was so wonderful in the comedy Carry On Screaming!, died today. As Lady Parvula de Panzoust in Sandy Wilson's Valmouth, she had one of my favorite lyrics:
One of the footmen, as they oft do,
Looked very handsome with his livery on and off, too,
But it was only a passing phase.
-
Back from a grilled cheese and bacon sandwich and some onion rings, picking up no important envelopes including the one that was supposed to be ready for me to pick-up (someone was sick, so it will be ready tomorrow at noon) and this has, in fact, been the damn day from hell and I must say if there was a lot of traffic outside the home environment I would seriously think about walking in front of several speeding cars.

Started Muriel Spark's Loitering With Intent. Some great barbs in the first chapter.

There was nobody like Cary Grant. Just enjoying the heck out of The Awful Truth.

Be back later.

Someone in the Times comments asked if "King Kong" on Broadway should be called "theatre."
It brought to mind this from William Goldman’s ”The Season” on Judy at the Palace:
The Broadway pro turned away. “What do you think?” Someone asked him. “Is it theatre?”
“Theatre?” The pro said. “Is this theatre? You bet your ass it’s theatre. It sure as hell ain’t singing.”

Second night in a row not posts for three hours - very tiresome I must say and it doesn't make the damn day from hell any more interesting or fun if you must know, which you now do. Most unseemly.

Good evening.

Thank you for being on page 5.
-
I am just not in my jumpers today.
-
I woke up feeling very dizzy this morning.
-
Coffee didn’t see to help.
-
I fell asleep in my chair reading my emails.........
-
I probably slept another hour.
-
Today I had my birthday lunch with dear friend, Sharry.

She truly deserves the title of “the legend.”

Hi, Tom.
-
Anyway, after a nice lunch, I came home and ate some chocolate and fell asleep for a three hour nap.
-
Hi, George.
-
I have decided against going to the old actors’ lunch tomorrow.
-
I just need a day to be a vegetable.
-
Or my health is going to suffer.
-
I just need a day to be a vegetable.
Sometimes, you just gotta do what you gotta do.
-
I seem to fill every day with something to do.
-
What happened to sitting around the house all day watching Netflix or Hulu?
-
Unfortunately, I won’t be doing that tomorrow.
-
Tom, I recorded American Ninja Warrior for you. I'll burn a DVR in the next couple of days.
-
I have numerous emails to write and a book that needs some work.
-
And right now, I feel like I m trying to get sick.
-
And this time, I don’t mean mentally.
-
Plus, next Thursday night is the play reading.
