Well, you've read the notes, the notes were designed and run-through, and now it is time for you to post until the designer cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PROPINE!
-
First post after BK!
-
Today is going to be a long day. I need to be at the theater by 9:00 a.m. The stage manager and I (and maybe the director, too) will go through all the props, the band will set levels, the cast will work some scenes, and then I think they're going to run the show. The rehearsal is supposed to go until 3:00 p.m., but I'll need to leave by about 11:45 a.m. I need to go to work to be the supervisor for people who want to work extra hours because we won't otherwise get a paycheck on December 31.
-
I'll work until 5:00, then I'm off to Seattle! My friend David got tickets for On Your Feet (https://www.stgpresents.org/paramount/calendar/eventdetail/3870/-/on-your-feet). I hope that traffic isn't bad on the way up so that we can get something to eat before the show. We'll see. And I hope the show is good. I know that the singer/actors will be good and that there will be a LOT of energy, but hopefully, it'll be worth it. :D
-
And now, I'm off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
Last night I decided to upgrade my computer to Mojave Version 10.14, and when we al went to bed, it was chugging away on the upgrade, Around 1:30 I got up to use the bathroom, sat down at the computer to check out the new upgrade, and around 2:30 I went back to bed.

When Thatch started climbing all over me this morning, I looked at the clock and they had let me sleep until 7:45! That's an hour later than usual, and I knew they must be starving. They're fed, I'm dressed, and except for my impending financial collapse, things are okay. I need any or all of the following to happen to save my skin along with Annabelle's and Thatch's and to pay back outstanding loans:
1. my How To Succeed . . . colleague to submit the damned invoice; I really screwed myself on this deal.
2. my brothers to stop pricing that damned Ohio property so high and sell it.
3. some work: a conductor and a singer I've worked with a bit told me last November and January that they would have work for me this year; I'm still waiting for a call.
4. a recording The New Yorkers; I was sure there would be a recording after the production and nothing happened.
5. the release of the Moonshine & Mistletoe recording we made in March 2017.
6. a lottery win.
-
DR TCB, I still cannot believe people were stupid enough to vote for Trump in the 2016 election.
-
Good morning!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Too busy to breathe today.
-
Continued vibes for DR ELMORE.
-
Musical composer I have NEVER gotten:
Harold Rome...except for a couple of songs in Destry Rides Again.

I agree with you!
The Classical ones that elude me:
Hindemith
Weber
Buxtehude
-
Good morning.
-
Today is Strut your mutt day. I am going to a little dog parade to raise money for the local shelter. The dogs will be in Halloween costumes.
-
Larry - for the Ohio property, is it 2 out of 3 needing to say yes, or does it need to be all 3 saying yes?
-
Good morning, all.
-
Jrand - maybe give some of Harold Rome's score for PINS AND NEEDLES a chance? (though it's a revue)
Barbra sings "Sitting on Your Status Quo"

-
I’ll hitch a ride on DR Elmore’s Hindemith and Weber, and add Bruckner.
And Schumann (Robert).
Oh hell, there are certainly several others I could honor in this fashion, but I’m too lazy to come up with them.
-
Larry - for the Ohio property, is it 2 out of 3 needing to say yes, or does it need to be all 3 saying yes?
2 out of 3. Macbeth tends to bully Randy.

So even the brother you're close to doesn't get your need (vs. his own greed?).
Edit: Oh, I see your change to your post above.

2 out of 3. Macbeth tends to bully Randy.
Now that they are no longer in business together I thought Macbeth had lost his bully power. I suppose some sibling dynamics never change.

I cannot presume to understand my brothers' thinking processes. Neither of them know my precarious current financial state, and even if I tell Randy I'm in bad shape, he has his no idea how badly.
-
I thought Randy knew, but yes knowing and truly understanding are two different things.
-
MEGA WORK VIBES FOR DR ELMORE!
-
The pet parade was fun this morning. My neighbor said next year we will go for the entire time and have breakfast there. Our time with the dogs was too short. The people who coordinated their costumes with the dogs were terrific.
-
The event was at Beaches where the owner does a number of various fund raiser events. From everything we here he is a really good guy. On a regular basis the restaurant has one large booth, with a river view, that can be reserved for a $10 fee. The $10 goes to charity. We have reserved the table a few times when we have had out of town company.

Sadly, if your finances affect them in some way, I've seen (mainly for clients) reaction by siblings, even when they care, at times seems to be to offer to help you see where you could budget better - rather than let a sibling's financial needs affect their own financial life. For many clients, it's that they're happy to help as long as your finances don't affect my family's finances.
-
I'm up, I'm up - almost eight hours of sleep.
-
DR TCB, to continue your posts from last night, this morning's Pittsbugh shooting in a synagogue - during a bris, I am told - leaves a lot of blood on trump's hands. Those alt-right Nazis last year shouting for death to blacks and jews are, according to Trump, very find people. I am sick of him and his violence.

I Can Get It for You Wholesale is one of all-time favorite scores.

Sadly antisemitism was on the rise long before Trump. It has just escalated more.

When I went apartment hunting with Craig in Pittsburgh I fell in love with Squirrel Hill and wanted to live there.

I can understand that. If you are going to have to reduce your life style, or put your own finances in jeopardy, it is reasonable to first know how they are spending their money. Nothing like helping family or friends and then watch them blow the money on travel, gifts for other people, purchases, etc.

Because of him and his Nazis.
-
Sadly the foundation was there. Sadly and frightening.
-
Three guesses.
-
I saw he was caught and that he is a nazi but not the part about why he chose that particular synagogue.
>:( :( :'(

Elmore, have you ever approached your brothers about buying your share of the property?
-
Elmore, have you ever approached your brothers about buying your share of the property?
Yes.
-
I had to chuckle at this exchange on Broadway World between BK and someone who saw the London production of Funny Girl, which played at movie theaters in the US a few days ago:
Wildcard said: "Where did you watch it at, Vernon? I saw it in Glendale, CA and the theater had a decent amount of people in it. I thought Sheridan was great. I have never seen the movie but after seeing Sheridan, I couldn't imagine Barbra in the role (though I'm sure she was fantastic in it). Sheridan made me think of Melissa McCarthy while someone in the audience blurted out that the mom was Harvey Fierstein in drag."
You've never seen the movie yet you can't imagine Barbra Streisand, the person who made the show and film the hit it was, in the role. I just scratch my head. It's not hard to see the movie, you know. They have this thing called DVD and Blu-ray.
-
Elmore, have you ever approached your brothers about buying your share of the property?
Yes.
From the beginning they should have done this or offered it at a price to sell for your sake alone.
-
Sorry Harold Rome is still on my list....although the evidence is interesting

From the beginning, Macbeth and I were not speaking, and it only got worse. They both claimed poverty to purchase my shaqre, butr I believe it's deeper than that with the Macbeths, and I know know more than you do, except I did know they were pricing too high and doing nothing to sell it.
-
Yes, sadly it is likely deeper with the Macbeth's. Asking too much for property is too often a problem, especially with homes people are attached to. In this case it would have been nice if they were right and you were wrong.
-

I'm not questioning your tastes. You like/don't like what you like/don't like.
I'm in the ChasSmith category of not liking Schumann. Others love him.

How sad. How true.

Trying to watch the rest of this Faust movie, but it's heavy going. Bad script that does Goethe no service.
Oy, Faust just quoted Luther.
-
Also, the actor playing Faust has the nose of Cyrano de Bergerac, which isn't his fault, but it is very distracting.
-
I was supposed to usher for the youth orchestra tomorrow but they actually have too many volunteers. So, I will enjoy a free evening and read some more.
-
Saturday evening greetings! Richard and I spent several hours on a self-guided driving tour of Vicksburg National Military Park, honoring the service here of his great-grandfather with the Ohio 83rd Infantry. It’s possible that Richard is the first descendant to visit here.
-
We then went to lunch in historic downtown Vicksburg at Cottonwood Public House. We shared a Margherita pizza and a dish of their homemade vanilla ice cream. I washed that down with a southern pecan pale ale.
-
Had a fun stop-and-start run-through in the upstairs space. I added a few bits as they came to me, gave some performance tips, and added a couple of lines to cover musical vamp things so people aren't just waiting to sing. Energy was good and fun.
-
I let everyone go at four, two hours early.
-
The set is up and looks great - not really a "set" per se, but really nice and functional and the moving panels are light as air and will be easy to negotiate.
-
Came home to the sad news that my friend Gene Castle's beautiful wife of many, many years died last night. She's been suffering mightily for a couple of years. Jane Actman Castle. She was a wonderful actress and we all came up together in the early1970s - she did Partridge Family and lots of other guest shots.

-
Bruce I am sorry for your sad news.
-
Tonight Annabelle, Thatch and I watched Bell Book and Candle, which I hadn't seen in years. i loved it. I kept thinking what a good 1960s musical it would have made.
-
I was enchanted by that movie as a kid — watching it on b&w TV, panned and scanned, interrupted by commercials. Seeing it in color for the first time years later, I was blown away. I still am, every time, and I can always recognize all of that original magic.

She was wonderful on The Paul Lynde Show. Bk, Condolences to you and to her family.
-
So sorry for your loss, BK.
-
Long night of dancing.
-
Where is everyone?
-
I'm back to watching RGB, which is really good.
-
Where is everyone?
I'm here, but leaving soon.
-
It's intermission for On Your Feet at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle!
-
The story is pretty superficial, but it's engaging and the performers are very good!
-
Alma Cuervo plays Gloria's mother.
-
She's fantastic!
-
I'll check back in before I leave Seattle.
-
And now back to the show!
-
Where is everyone?
I'm here, but leaving soon.
Hi, Fred!
-
Enjoy the show, George.
-
RBG is almost over.
-
Which means I must retire soon.
-
Really powerful movie.
-
But I don't think I'll get a tattoo of her.
-
Or of anyone else.
-
Was surprised to see the director Robert Longbottom in this.
-
He cast her in an opera. And she was good. Not a singing role.
-
Diane Warren wrote the theme song, I'll Fight. Wonder if it'll be remembered by Oscar time. It's pretty effective.
-
Cranberries!
-
Underpants!
-
What is this page three malarkey?
-
Malarkey indeed.
-
Let's move on!
-
Four!
-
And good night, all.
-
'night
-
Good evening.
-
Page 4? Seriously?
-
Not even 100 posts.
-
And everybody else has gone to bed.
-
John, you sent me on a wild search to figure out what RBG was.
-
It didn’t help that I am half asleep.
-
Had a long lunch today with friends, Martin and Tracy.
-
Amazingly, lunch was only three and a half hours long!
-
That is very short for the three of us.
-
Previously, our record for shortest lunch was four hours.
-
Fortunately, we don’t spend the majority of that time eating.
-
Most of the time is spent laughing, dishing, and reliving fond memories of the years we have been friends.
-
Martin has spent the ajority of the last year losing weight and working out at a gym to get in shape.
-
I believe that he has lost, so far, approximately 135 pounds.
-
He looks amazing.
-
Even more amazing, he has now gone back to working at his first love - being a chef!
-
He will be working up at Mount Rainier. I believe I mentioned all this last night, but I am struggling to think of posts at this time of night.
-
We went to one of our favorite Mexican restaurants for lunch.
-
We decided to meet up at 1:00 p.m. to miss the lunch rush.
-
Wrong!! The place was packed with diners and a crowd waiting for tables.
-
It seemed to be mostly larger groups for lunch, with quite a few birthday celebrations.
-
They do one of those embarrassing tributes to the lucky soul, including a huge sombrero on their head and a very loud song sung by all of the waitstaff.
-
The lunch rush never ended today, but was heading into an early dinner rush when we were leaving.
-
Fortunately, for Nicky, I fed him his dinner before I left for lunch.
-
I came home, started the dishwasher, poured myself some juice, turned on college football in the bedroom, and promptly fell asleep.
-
I guess I needed the rest, since I got up at 5:00 a.m. this morning.
-
Don’t ask me why, I thought it was after seven when I woke up.
-
Page 5
-
Finally!
-
I should have pointed out that Martin’s weight started out at about 315 pounds.
-
I wish I would get back to losing weight.
-
I am currently packing on the pounds to hibernate for a long winter.
-
Tomorrow, I will spend most of the day working on my lines.
-
I will take a break to watch the Seahawks.
-
I assume I will be called for rehearsal at some point this week.
-
i really can’t get off book, until I have been given my blocking.
-
So, hopefully sometime soon.
-
We open in just about a month.
-
I hope rehearsals are going well.
-
Most of time onstage I am onstage alone doing narration.
-
But I do have scenes with some of the other actors.
-
I thought I would get next week’s rehearsal schedule today, but nothing yet.
-
Well, goodnight!
-
Good night, Tom.
-
Hello, anyone else who's here!
-
I'm still 8n Seattle after seeing On Your Feet, and then visiting with my friend David and his wife.
-
David and I both REALLY liked the show!
-
Great songs, great singers, good costumes, seemingly simple but effective set.
-
Alma Cuervo plays Gloria's mother.
Actually, Alma Cuervo played Gloria's grandmother. But both her and the mother were great!
-
The audience loved the show, too.
-
And now, I'm off to Tumwater.
-
It was raining harder on my way up than it is now, so that's good.
-
The problem (well, inconvenience) is that I need to be back at the theater by 9:00 a.m.
-
I hate it when that happens.
-
But, I agreed to do this.
-
;)
-
And now, since we're so close...
-
PAGE SIX OFF-TO-TUMWATER DANCE!!
-
Until later...probably not until tomorrow afternoon.
-
Have a good day, all!
