Well, you've read the notes, the notes were November-like, and now it is time for you to post until the November cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SURVIVAL!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
Continued from last night: Kyle, the managing director, gave a curtain speech at the end of intermission and among other announcements, announced that we did the props, so that was good.
-
Will they correct that by tomorrow?
-
Also from last night...Tom, it wasn't completely sold out, but I think it was at least three-quarters full.
-
A curtain speech at intermission?
-
Favorite costume was as a geisha. of course, now I'd be accused of cultural appropriation but I won a contest with it so there!
-
Will they correct that by tomorrow?
I don't think so. Kyle had all of the programs printed for the run. He either got them donated or on a VERY good deal. And it was his mistake. He told me that he was waiting to find out what Anita's last name was and forgot to hold the printing until he found out.
-
A curtain speech at intermission?
Yes. He makes a curtain speech at the end of intermission at every performance, so he'll announce our names at every performance.
-
Why can’t he just put an insert in the program?
-
Why can’t he just put an insert in the program?
I don't know. ::)
-
Well, if they left a cast member’s name out of the program, you can be damn sure that there would be an insert by tomorrow.
-
Goodnight, George.
-
Well, if they left a cast member’s name out of the program, you can be damn sure that there would be an insert by tomorrow.
That's probably true.
-
Goodnight, George.
Good night, Tom.
-
I just watched part of that Jack Benny video that BK posted yesterday. That was pretty darned funny!
-
And now, I need to go to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
But before I go, HERE (https://www.facebook.com/broadwayolympia/videos/261340784524865/) is a live Facebook video of the reprise of "Time Warp" at the end of our opening night show. I guess the audience was fuller than I realized!
(Apologies to those who can't see the video.)
-
Good morning, all!
-
Thanks to Joshie and I Married an Angel, I am now only a month behind in my bills. I am very grateful. Now, if my How to Succeed . . . colleague would submit invoices, I could pay last month's rent.
-
At least my landlord's aware of the rental situation.
-
And tomorrow I can take Annabelle in for her booster shot. I still have to deal with Thatch's shots and echocardiogram. Soon, I hope.
-
Good morning, all.
-
The Jack Benny segment with the chimps is pretty incredible.
It’s been years since I just sat and watched something like that, and I daresay I have both a different perspective and a whole different level of appreciation for what they’re pulling off there.
And the whole variety show aspect. What a different world it was then. It’s gone. Like Robbins.
-
Good morning, all.
-
The Maguire Sisters are warbling Subways Are for Sleeping in the background while a pan of donut bread pudding bakes in the background. I still have a hard sauce to make.
-
In other words, a long morning already.
-
I did finish Lethal White last night.
-
I don't know if I had any kids stop by last night. I didn't get home until 9:30 p.m.
-
Two!
-
Good morning to all
-
Good news from DR JOHN G about his dad and good news from DR JANE about her ice pak.
-
I loved the Jack Benny video.....hilarious.....The Jack Benny Hour? When was his show an hour long? Did he move to CBS to get Danny Thomas on, or was it a cross promo? I know they all did each other's shows a lot.....
-
Nice video DR GEORGE.....but where is the intermission in RHS? We always did it straight through.....it's like a freight train - how do you stop it?
Bummer about your names being left out....that's really not fair....and yes an insert is really a better solution AND a poster in the lobby with your names and job description...and an APOLOGY.
-
My favorite Halloween costume was wearing white tie and tails and carrying a Cabbage Patch character.....I was.....
-
....the Valet of the Dolls.....

There’s no groaning allowed on haineshisway.com.

The only time anyone speaks in an intermission around here is when there’s a lottery drawing as part of the proceedings.
One theater here, which is known for ridiculously long pre-curtain speeches, left mine and another musician’s name out of the orchestra listing for a PETER PAN production, and they included mention of that in the thank you portion of their speech. We didn’t much care about the omission, but that was nice of them. Anyway, on the night I had a bunch of friends coming to see the show, I told them, just for some down and dirty fun, to do some ridiculous cheering when my name was announced. This was in a 1500+ seat venue, and the orchestra loved it — as it livened up the interminable speech we’d suffered through several times already.

Glad he did the right thing.
-
Favorite costume was as a geisha. of course, now I'd be accused of cultural appropriation but I won a contest with it so there!
Good for you. To me, that is why they are costumes as we would not normally wear them.
-
Good news from DR JOHN G about his dad and good news from DR JANE about her ice pak.
Thanks.

This way your name will be heard every night. Not everyone reads the program.
-
My complements on your driving last night DR TCB.

....the Valet of the Dolls.....
Best Ever!
-
....the Valet of the Dolls.....
Fabulous!
I actually call my cholesterol pills my "statin dolls" - not actually, but for a song...

Good morning/afternoon.
-
I slept in until 7:00 this morning. And I only woke up twice in the night.
-
If I was, say, the artistic director of a theater company and I came to see a show at another theater. If I was really impressed with the props, or the costumes, or the lighting design; and I wanted to see about using that person at my theater. I might be able to catch the name in the middle of a curtain speech, but it would certainly be a lot easier if I could just open the program after the show, and find the name of the person.
-
I am glad the show is a big success, George. Are you going to the midnight performance?
-
Today I am working on my narrations.
-
They just posted on Facebook, that we open in three weeks!! Oh God, what have I gotten myself into??
-
My complements on your driving last night DR TCB.
Thank you, that is more of a response than I got from the deer.
-
....the Valet of the Dolls.....
That is fantastic!
-
Nicky is mad at me this morning, because I gave him some pain medication.
-
The narrations wouldn't be so bad, except that I have two or three speeches that have a list in them.
-
TOD:
The one good thing about taking dance classes most of my life and doing a recital every year, is that I always had an automatic halloween costume. One year I was an octopus; another year I was a Can-can dancer. I think I liked the Can-can dancer costume the best. I wore it in college and one a costume contest and got a gift certificate to have dinner at a nice restaurant.
When I was very very young, before I started dance classes, my sister dressed me up as a tube of Crest toothpaste. I got a lot of attention while trick-or-treating. One sweet old lady who answered the door asked if she could squeeze me. :D
-
Not as bad as the list of all the books of the Old Testament (in order) that I had in INHERIT THE WIND, but they are still going to give me nightmares.
-
Back to my narrations!
-
But to quote George; "But before I go...."

I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep. Was up at ten and answering e-mails.
-
The Benny hour show was, at the time, a one-off hour special. The Maguire Sisters are in the beginning of the show.
-
I did finish Lethal White last night.
I'm on chapter 27 of 69...only 36% of the way through! :o

Thanks, Jrand. The intermission is right after the "wedding," and I have to say that the start of intermission is quite anticlimactic. Frank and Rocky exit through the elevator doors (no actual elevator), everything else just kind of stops, the stage lights go out, the actors just exit the stage, then the house lights come up. It's kind of weird...the only real awkward moment in the show. :-\
Kyle did apologize to me quite profusely, when I brought that to his attention. And I'll pass along your other suggestions. ;)

It is disappointing DR George is not in there after all of his creative work.

I missed Halloween last night. We had a family emergency with the baby.
My husband was babysitting so the parents could grocery shop. The baby started to cry. So I had to rush over because grandpa was panicking. Because the baby cried.

Thanks, Tom! And yes, I'll be there. I don't know if they have enough ushers for each performance or not, so I figure that I might as well see it and help out because I can.

Back from a turkey sandwich and cup of soup, then picking up packages but no pension check. Very unusual - only the second time this has happened. If it's not here tomorrow I'll call SAG/AFTRA and let them know.

We are having a lovely day without rain, so far and I am enjoying the autumn leaves.

HELL, yeah. Answer me, 9-1-1. Or the National Guard, at least. I mean, what are you supposed to do?
-
Still on page three?
-
This is not good.
-
Had a really surprisingly good Kritzerland rehearsal and I'm breathing much easier about the show. Our new gal is still just learning her stuff, but I know her well enough to know she'll be prepared by Saturday. She only has two solos so it's not that much.
-
So, now I can relax for an hour before rehearsal.

UNDERBERRIES!!

George, do you know Christine Choate in ROCKY? She is also in my show.

Thursday evening greetings from HOME! Our trip from Bowling Green, KY, should have taken 5 hours at the most, but actually took 7 hours and 45 minutes. There had been a huge accident on I-71 in Gallatin County that involved 3 semis and a hazmat spill. We got caught in a 15-mile back-up and it took us more than 2 hours to get through it. We sailed into Cincinnati and then got hung up in rainy rush hour traffic.
-
Welcome home, Ginny!

I don't know her. I recognize her picture from Facebook, but I haven't gotten to know any of the performers that I didn't already know.
-
Good evening!
-
I'm pretty sure I won't be able to keep awake to watch Barbra on James Corden's show. That's was DVRs are for!
-
Well, I'm off to the theater. I don't know what the crowd will be like for the second night, but I'm sure they'll enjoy it.
Be back later.

Wow. Not nice. And out in the middle of nowhere, there's no way to just go around it.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
I spent almost two hours this afternoon trying to register for my medical group's website. They are big on privacy, which I understand, but they just aren't as organized as they should be. All four people I spoke to were helpful, fortunately.
-
I then received a call from the car dealer. There's been a recall on the car for months. As far as I'm concerned there is no good time to have one's car serviced. About a week ago I had a window where it would be convenient and called to schedule it. A very rude woman told me that they didn't have the parts and didn't know when they would. Today it was a different rude woman who insisted I tell her when I could bring the car in. Do people think that we all just sit around with nothing to do? I get that impression many times. Like most people, I have appointments on my calendar, many of which are scheduled well in advance. I don't take the car there for service because I've had so many bad experiences with dealerships. Believe me, they aren't encouraging me to change my position.
-
By then I was not in the best mood. It had been a perfectly nice day until then.
Sigh.
-

Watching the rest of this bad German-Turkish drug movie, Head-On. The German isn't helping and not just because they mumble, but also because they are speaking it with a bad Turkish dialect. Now they're speaking in English, 15 minutes before the movie ends and I don't know what accent is being used, but even that is irritating. Glad I only paid $2 for this movie.

It sounds like BK is finding ways to deal with the A CAROL CHRISTMAS casting issues.
Vibes that all goes well.
-
I finished BODYGUARD. It concluded nicely. Highly recommended Available on Netflix streaming.

For Vixmom,
CRANPANTS!
(I added the bolding.)

I am very tired and will say good night.

Back from a run-through - got through it all and I was blindsided because no one told me that one of our cast members who missed Tuesday was also missing tonight. We covered him and the other missing person and managed to run without stops. The show energy still isn't where it needs to be but it's getting there - I gave some general notes, worked a few things, and gave two new bits of business that should be funny. And I thought we had everyone tomorrow night but alas one person is missing, but it's not a significant role although she's involved in a lot of scene changes so we'll have to figure out that stuff before we run.
-
Tesshi, my set designer, had been there for many hours painting the set and it looks great.

I'm home now, watching Stephen Colbert.

I can not sign into my iPad tonight. I am sending this from my iPhone.

Sideways, I could at least read the messages in the post

Now the iPad is suddenly working fine.

That's just too weird, Tom!

Yes. I'm ushering for them all, even the midnight show.

So, I guess I won’t look for you here on Saturday night.
I need to work until 5:00 pm, then I'll go to my parents' for dinner, then I'm sure that I'll go home for a while because the Saturday show isn't until midnight. My parents won't want me there for that long. ;)
