Well, you've read the notes, the notes laid low, and now it is time for you to post until the laying low cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PERSPICACIOUS!
-
Welcome forty-three GUESTS!
-
First post after BK!
-
Well, I need to get to sleep. It's been a long day and between working to build up extra hours for work and the added A Christmas Story rehearsals, I literally won't get a day off between now and December 25!
-
WHAT WAS I THINKING?? :o
-
;)
-
Good night and have a good day, all!
-
First in the AM on the east coast
-
TOD
I was visiting my grandmother in Carlyle PA. I had traveled there from Long Island by myself on a Greyhound bus
-
I was 12
-
She had a tiny black and white portable TV with rabbit ears that she kept in the closet. She took it out and set it up on a folding tray table in her bedroom and we sat on kitchen chairs and held hands and our breaths as we watched that historic moment
-
I keep thinking what an amazing period of technological advancement my grandparents experienced
-
All of them were born before automobiles were commonplace , before airplanes existed. 2 of them didn't have indoor plumbing until they were adults
-
They didn't have phones. Heck, they didn't have electricity in their homes.
-
TV didn't show up until they were adults with children of their own
-
Yet three out of the 4 of them saw man walking on the moon
-
Good morning, all!
-
DR Vixmom has a new job!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!
-
DR vixmom, I hope it's all you could wish for.
-
And from the joyous to the tragic, back to my miserable existence. It continues to suck.
-
T.O.D.
I have no idea.
-
T.O.D. (2)
On the other hand, I do recall where I was when I heard that President Kennedy was shot and the Space Challenger exploded....
-
Good morning, all.
-
I was at the Meadowbrook School of Music in Rochester, Michigan, where, as I recall it, the only televisions available to us were the ones in the downstairs lobbies/community rooms of the dorms. I think it was a color TV. It was a Sunday afternoon and I don’t know what else I might have been involved in that day, but I spent some time there watching and I remember how quiet and attentive everyone was.
-
Been playing through the Hello, Dolly! transpositions book. Oy!
I grew up with Channing’s keys, and they are in my blood. As far as listening to everyone else singing it, I learned long ago to just turn my senses off to the new keys and modulations and just go with it and enjoy. But sitting down and playing them? It’s almost like reading new music.
The book looks fine to the eye, but the body is rejecting the donor notes. And beyond simply having to relearn some of this, a greater appreciation than ever has grown for the likes of Robert H. Noeltner, who not only gave most of it to you, but in a way that still made it happen really well at the piano.
-
Another note of appreciation for BK’s invaluable revival recording, which I think beautifully captures Channing again (against all odds — must reread that) and preserves the entire “Dancing” music and the main guts of the “Waiters Galop”.
-
Anyway, that’s what I’m on today and I play it this evening, so I’m outta here for now and I’ll be back later tonight.
-
Congrats DR Vixmom. I am so happy for you. Best of luck on this new endeavor.
I am drying to know what your boss said. I wonder if he has realized yet how screwed he is.
I really hope that this new job will really be 9-5. Yippee!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Good morning!
-
DR vixmom! I'm so happy for you!
-
Page 2!
-
I am so happy for DR VIXMOM!!! Congratulations! They are so lucky to have you.....so what happened to the person who had the job that you got?
-
Nice notes.....
TOD:
We were in Chicago for something.....and we watched it on a tv in a hotel on the loop.....of course, immediately afterward, I went out on the balcony and looked up at the moon....
It was a wonderful night.
-
Good morning, all.
-
TOD:
We had gone wild blackberry picking in a nearby park that day. I was 6 and somehow got bit by a billion insects. I was in pain and forced to watch the landing. I then returned to my regularly scheduled program of itching.
-
I'm up, I'm up - not quite eight hours of sleep.
-
Good afternoon.
-
Oh, Vixmom! I am so happy for you!

I love that those are on the recording!

Home from City Center. The cats were happy to see me, and I was very happy to see them.
-
DR ChasSmith, I was waiting for the bus around 1:30, and I tried to call you. I couldn't leave a message. Empty your voice mail!
-
Thank you! Will do.
-
Can somebody cancel my meetings today? Just today.
-
A story to put you off Oreos for awhile.
https://munchies.vice.com/en_us/article/gy7wvw/high-school-suspends-football-players-who-ran-around-with-oreos-between-their-butt-cheeks
-
Time for some food, I suppose.
-
My neighbor Judy just brought the cats a catnip Donald Trump doll. When last seen, Thatch was dragging it under my bed.
-
I hope it’s not contagious.
-
I have escaped work.
-
As the end of the year approaches, things at work get weird.
-
And I get less sleep, which is a big factor.

Stupid kids. I hope those that were not benched did not participate in this activity. If my kid had been suspended and others weren't just because they were better players I would be furious.
-
I am not eating Oreos because they use Palm Oil even after saying they would stop.
-
Thanks for the vibes. I made the important appointment today, a much needed PT after having a set back.
-
Not important, just fun, was my second date for the day. My walking partner took me out to lunch for my birthday. To my shock, half the women in our building were at the table to surprise me. I even received gifts :)
-
I feel better too which is nice. Hopefully I will continue to improve, or at least not get worse. Tomorrow I see the surgeon again.
-
Back from an interesting lunch. Grant dropped by and we were talking about how we miss Orange Julius - so we Googled and found that Dairy Queen still has it so we drove to Burbank and had one - it wasn't quite up to old times but was very good. In the food court at that mall we had Philly cheesesteak sandwiches - not bad.
-
Stopped at the mail place and picked up some screeners - more Netflix crap I can watch ON Netflix.
-
Page two? Really?
-
I am not enamored with Ryan Gosling and cannot picture him as Armstrong. Keith likes him and is looking forward to seeing the movie.
-
We had been married about a month and a half when the moon landing and walk happened. I remember watching it with Keith. I remember thinking it was cool we were on the moon but not wowed by it as others were. I guess because I expected it.
-
Jennifer , he stared at me a moment and then said, I'm not surprised,I knew it... and got up and walked away
-
He has not spoken to me or looked at me since
-
Everyone else's reaction was the same, "good for you, he didn't deserve you"
-
Back from The Macaroni Grill----celebrating my friend Dennis's birthday. He's now as old as I am.
-
Everyone else's reaction was the same, "good for you, he didn't deserve you"
That's for sure!
-

It is a shame he couldn't do what was needed to keep you.
-

Wow.

Congrats, Jane!
-
It is going to be a long two weeks.
-

Of course, they're right. ;)
-

Very true. I hope it doesn't get worse for them after you leave. Are others also job hunting?
-

That is fun. For one day I will be as old as Bruce is.

A Very Happy Birthday to Dennis!

Congrats, Jane!
Thank you.
-
And now, I'm off to rehearsal. We'll be going through all the music tonight. That will be very helpful. :)
Be back later.
-
The surprise was funny. The hostess took us to the back room for our reserved seating. It is mostly booths back there and one long table for large groups.
Of course I was expecting to be seated at a table and couldn't understand why she was taking us to the table. Suddenly I realized "I know these people". I am sure I looked rather stunned before I broke into a smile.
-
Jack I am getting the position being vacated by his long time assistant who's retiring at the end of the year
-
I will have less than 2 weeks to learn what she has done fo him the past 20 years
-
I am a little nervous
-
I watched Crazy Rich Asians tonight and loved it. I am thinking about reading the books.
-
Jennifer , he stared at me a moment and then said, I'm not surprised,I knew it... and got up and walked away
Um I wonder if someone gave him a clue that you were leaving. But seriously could he not see how over-worked you were? How much you did for him? Does he think that people should stay every night till 9pm for no extra pay?!?
-
I am not eating Oreos because they use Palm Oil even after saying they would stop.
I wish I could find palm oil. I like it in Brazilian food. And even the South American market seems to be out of it every time I go there.
-

Happy birthday, Dennis!
-

You gave him the Christmas present that he deserves. Now you know for certain that you have made the right move. I wonder how many people it will take to replace you.
-
Vixmom, I wonder how he's going to behave for the time that you have left there. If he continues to behave like a petulant child or, worse, treats you poorly, leave early. You have suffered there long enough.
-
Hi, Jennifer!
-
I'm watching the second half of a fun production of Cyrano de Bergerac with Marsha Mason as Roxanne and Mark Singer as Christian.
-
But enough of that.
-
Let's move on ...
-
Four!
-
Back from Poughkeepsie, where they pick their feet and throw Hello, Dolly! readings. It was fun playing it straight through, and though the show isn’t till February, I shall look forward to seeing and hearing what this director and cast do with it.
-
Also grabbed the piano/celeste book, which looks to be very full of notes.
-
I will have less than 2 weeks to learn what she has done fo him the past 20 years
If you are lucky maybe she will offer to be available for questions by email. Good luck and vibes.

I have read the source is important, good vs bad. I don't want to destroy the rain forest for it.
I thought it was mostly used in junk food
-
Good evening.
-
That was such a nice surprise, Jane.
-
It sure was. I never had a surprise birthday party before today.
-
I need to be up early for my appointment with the surgeon tomorrow.
-
'night
-
100!!

Well, the sing-through (using our music) helped. We got through all the group numbers and worked on a few things. Now, we all just need to memorize!
;)

And so it begins...Man Arrested for Drunk Driving After Officers Found Him Asleep in Tesla Running in Autopilot Mode (http://fortune.com/2018/11/30/man-arrested-drunk-driving-asleep-tesla-autopilot-mode/). ::)
-
Good evening.
-
I am still on cloud 9 about vixmom’s new job!
-
May it be everything you hope for, and everything you deserve.
-
I have been up since 5:30 a.m.
-
I set the alarm on my phone for six o’clock, but I had never used it before, so I wasn’t sure it would work.
-
So, of course, I woke up one half hour early, and I was afraid to go back to sleep.
-
I was dressed and pressed and out the door right on time to get to Lakewood just before eight o’clock.
-
And then there was the matinee!!
-
Page four? Really?
-
This will NOT do.
-
At nine we were notified that the school had called last night leaving a message that they were canceling out on the matinee. Probably because of the heavy ice, but we weren’t told the reason.
-
Radio show was fun - you can hear it on Sunday.
-
Then I came home and made a small amount of noodles with butter - that was good.
-
I then watched Some Like It Hot, the new Criterion Blu and Ray.
-
They had also put in calls to the senior group home who was expected to arrive, but they had apparently forgotten about coming.
-
One more post.
-

:o Very strange!

That's too bad, Tom.
-
So what did you do?
-
So, our cast of twenty actors gave a performance for five audience members.

So, our cast of twenty actors gave a performance for five audience members.
The show must go on!
-
One of the five was my friend, Sharry. This was the only time she could see the show. Her father-in-law passed away last week and there whole life is naturally in an uproar right now.

Oh, no! I'm so sorry. :(
-
Anyway, the show was completed, and Sharry and I headed off to the Fat Farm for lunch.
-
I came home, fed Nick, and fell asleep for a few hours.
-
And by the time I woke up, my line notes had arrived.
-
And by the time I woke up, my line notes had arrived.
And were they worthy of ignoring...again??
;)
-
My favorite was:
You said, “Are you all right, Frank?”
Correct line, “Frank, are you all right?”

Goodnight, George.

Seriously!
-
Yikes.
-
Good night, Tom.
-
Topic of the Day: I was much too young to have known anything about it, or even remember if I watched any of it with my parents.
-
:)
-
Well, I hate to do it, but I need to go to sleep. I have a phone meeting at 9:00 in the morning and I CAN'T miss it. The person calling is in Ireland(!) and he/she/they are calling to answer specific questions that I have, so I can't even be late!
So, good night and have a good day tomorrow, all!
