My Facebook Newsfeed is screwed up and the damned site is harder to get into than Fort Knox for help. I only see one, 2 at the most, posts where I used to see a continuous scroll. When I click on "Newsfeed" under my name, I get two options: Top Stories and Most Recent.
Above the actual Newsfeed I get these two options:
Viewing most recent stories · Back to top stories
I have no idea what the hell to do.

To increase my unease, Annabelle is not eating and I cannot clear up this congestion. I cannot afford $100/week to have her sinuses flushed, so I'm in a state already.

Saturday morning greetings! After decorating our mantle, eating pizza with Richard, and making gingerbread dough, I settled in to watch some ELEMENTARY episodes on DVD. Fell asleep in my chair until it was time to go to bed, then slept like a rock.
-
Today Richard, Rob, and I will go to the triple birthday party while Mary Linda teaches ballet in Cincinnati. It’s a volunteer gig she’s doing with a nonprofit that serves at risk kids.
-
Happiest of birthdays to DR ChasSmith!
-
Good morning, all.

Thank you, BK, for the birthday notice in the notes. As I was reading them this morning, I had not yet been awake enough to think about what day this is, so that was quite the reminder!

I have no idea what the hell to do.
A FB friend mentioned a similar problem this morning and came back later and said it was fine. I hope your issue was also temporary.
-
Stay well vibes for DR Vixmom!

And, after 12 hours, my Facebook news feed is working again.
Good.

Happy Birthday, ChasSmith!

If my cats couldn't smell due to congestion they were very ill. I never had a cat with a chronic sinus issue. I wish I knew something that would help poor Annabelle.

Happy birthday to Chas!
Unexpected birthdays are the best.

Happy Birthday to DR CHAS SMITH.

Get well and SHOW vibes for MR BK & Co.

I've had it happen, too. First time was a few months ago, and it happened again a couple of days ago. I believe it's just a Facebook glitch that pops up now and then. (There's something else I've seen happen that I thought was perhaps related, but I forget what that is now...)

Ein andere zeit.
Zum Geburtstag alles Gute, ChasSmith.

Happy Birthday CHASSMITH!
-
I'm up, I'm up - five hours of sleep.

Some woman I worked with (she was Yoni in the Chance Theater Brain from Planet X) who makes THE most obnoxious posts on Facebook - she's the poster child for how people in the show business should never be allowed on Facebook - made one of her usual idiotic posts, this one contained a snarky reference about Fiorello because it had been included in a list of shows that have never had a Broadway revival. She acknowledged its Pulitzer but never mentioned its authors, score, anything - just a dismissive, derisive comment at the end of the post, something like "anyone got a Fiorello playlist."
So, I responded that the show has wonderful songs, that they were written by Bock and Harnick (since she didn't name them), and that the article was a bit silly because it included several huge flops (which she pointed out in her post). That's it. She, very predictably, then told me she teaches musical theater (at some high school) and doesn't need the "mansplaining." That's what she does when ANY male responds to her and she doesn't like what they post, which I find obnoxious and so typical of today. She told me her point again, even though that was not why I responded, and that she knows who Bock and Harnick are, blah, blah, blah. I responded simply by asking her when she became so insufferable. I informed her that no one was "mansplaining" - personsplaining yes. Of course, I could have said her response was womansplaining, but I don't use those idiotic cliches. She, of course, being "woke" lives for them. And this is why she will never have a career - her father is the exact same way (he's an actor who was very anti-99 seat theater during that whole debacle - even though he did plenty of it - which is more than a little hypocritical) - I love strong, talented women and I know and have worked with plenty of 'em - not one of them has ever used the word mansplaining EVER. If she responds, which she will, I will not only unfriend her, I will block her.
-
She of the Evil Eye is here so I guess I'll go have a light breakfast.

I'm off to see my therapist, Erik, in just a few minutes. We'll see what he can do to help this old bod.
-
Vibes of health to all DRs. Yes, there is something going around and lots of people are sick.
Stay well!
-
TTFN.

After locking her in a steam-filled bathroom for nearly an hour, Annabelle is eating. I hope this luck continues.

Mansplaining? Isn't that something Desi Arnaz used to say?

Back from a light breakfast and picking up yesterday's packages. Now I need to relax.

After locking her in a steam-filled bathroom for nearly an hour, Annabelle is eating. I hope this luck continues.
I am glad you found a home remedy that helped.

DR elmore have you been running the humidifier in the rest of your apartment?

Whoa! How nice!

I'm just not sure I like The Marvelous Mrs. Meisel. I know that goes against that grain and that everyone LOVES it - the new Mad Men and all. But I just don't find it that interesting - the design is nice and all, and I understand that its writer, creator, director, executive producer (how many credits does one person really need to take - we get it) wants to make a show about a strong woman and that's fine, except that some of it just isn't believable other than as a wish-fulfillment fantasy. And as some have pointed out, how do you get the details wrong - apparently the Bob Newhart album referenced in episode won came out two years after the year in which that episode is set. At least I think I read that somewhere. I'll give it another episode or two, I guess, but after three of 'em it's already wearing extremely thin and becoming repetitious. Oh, and "rapey" is not a word they EVER used in the 1950s, sorry. That's just lazy writing with an agenda.
-
The gal I wrote about earlier beat me to the punch and unfriended me. Good. She's a real piece of work and not in a good way.
-
Mansplaining? Isn't that something Desi Arnaz used to say?
Did he used to sing "Lady of Splain, I adore you"

Well, this is not good.

Yes, it is. And the book is funnier every time I read it, too.

Good news about being unfriended, bk.

I think.

Let’s move on.

Four!
-
I ate a lot, drank a lot and family’d a lot. Great day. Time to sleep a lot.

A Very Happy Birthday to ChasSmith!! :D

The rehearsal this morning went well enough...at least, before I had to leave. I don't know how it went after that. But I'm sure it went well!
-
I'm at work, working extra hours for the last time! Hoo and Ray! Starting Monday, I'll get to use my time anyway I see fit. And I fit to leave work early every single day next week because we have tech week and we open AND close on Christmas Eve!
-
It's definitely gonna be a busy week! :o

Get well and SHOW vibes for MR BK & Co.

That's the idea...specifically not to let the person know that they've been unfriended. It can be useful.

Exactly right. And I'm happy she did because she's just a real dolt. She makes posts like "I'm posting this and if you disagree don't post here because I don't care" - I mean she's a classic Facebook twit who fancies herself a FEMINIST and uses every cliche in the book. She just wants constant validation and people to fawn over her and tell her how wonderful her every insight is. I would laugh every time one of her idiotic posts would show up. The word I used when I responded to her was perfectly chosen: Insufferable.
-
I hope I don't know this person.
-
We have 38 mutual friends and you have extra friends I do know-lol
-
You don't know her.
-
I shall now be on my way to the theater to clean up a few things. I'm not sure I'll bother to go tomorrow as we're completely sold out, extra chairs, and a waiting list. Or maybe I'll go down towards the end of the show.
-
You don't know her.
Good though I sometimes see posts like that on my page. I know which friends I can have a reasonable discussion with if I have a slightly different opinion, or even just want to ask questions.

Is 4.5 times per movie a lot?

A Very Happy Birthday to ChasSmith!! :D
Thank you, DR George!

Hello all
-
This cold has decided come in hard and fast
-
I used Zicam nasal spray and took some Sambucol
-
Had two large mugs of hot Tazo Wild orange tea with whipped honey blended with lemon
-
Cleared up enough to breathe and stopped sneezing
-
Then I went to church and loaded up my van with 25 lbs of meatball, 18lbs of sauce, 12 lbs of penne 100 hand knit hats , 6 heads of lettuce, several lbs of cherry tomatoes , cucumbers, onions, red, green and yellow peppers, 2 large bottles of Italian salad dressing and paper goods enough for 200
-
And suddenly I couldn't find my keys
-
I looked through everything and just could not see them
-
Fortunately another church member who had done to install some lighting in a shed showed up then. He found the keys which had slipped down into a box of volunteer tshirts
-
And I headed over to the soup kitchen
-
There is a group from another church who shares the week with us now (fortunately since our volunteer base has gotten sparse)
-
The men from that group kindly carried everything in for me
-
I told them since I had the cold I was staying away from food prep and food serving and would handle hat distribution
-
Everyone was cool with that idea and everything went very smoothly. We served about 135 meals ( that included some seconds and take away containers) to 95 guests
-
Then after everything was cleaned up I headed out
-
Did the banking, and brought the leftover paper goods back to the church and put them away
-
Then I set up the church for the 5pm service, setting the altar, refilling candles etc
-
By then it was2:30 and I headed home
-
Onthe way home the congestion and sneezing started back up
-
When I got home vixdad kindly offered to pickup Chinese takeaway
-
While he did that I made a pot of Regukar British tea for him and another mug of orange tea with honey for me
-
I had a pint of hot won ton soup, some chicken in hoisin sauce withprk fried rice and my tea
-
Took some more Sambucol and Zicam spray
-
By then it was about 4
-
And then I dozed off in the recliner and slept until nearly 11 pm
-
All that and the 48,000-post millstone!!!
-
All that and the 48,000-post millstone!!!
Goodness! I didn't even notice!
-
Despite all that sleep I am still tired
-
Just had another cup of tea, some Zicam and Sambucol.
-
I'm breathing better, congestion clearing up and haven't sneezed for a while
-
I really wanted to be at my best for Monday
-
Showing up sniffly, sneezing and red nosed right before Christmas is not going to endear me to anyone, especially anyone who will have to sit closely by me and train me
-
Damn
-

That was funny.
-
This cold has decided come in hard and fast
I am sorry. Feel better super fast!
-
DR Vixmom did you try to find someone to take over for you today?
-
Please, please stay home tomorrow.
-
Back from a wonderful performance - the stuff I cleaned up played much better and an actress I sent a note to did the adjustment I asked for and got a laugh. We had almost 2/3 of a house and what a difference to have an audience laughing and enjoying themselves verbally - and it FEEDS the cast. Be nice to have another one like that tomorrow.

That was funny.
I'm thinking 4.5 drinks in a 2-hour movie is not even 4.5 drinks in 2 hours, since the time span of the movie story can be weeks or months.
The story seems to have been picked up pretty widely.

Fingers crossed for a similar Sunday crowd!
I don't mind the excited woo-hoo-ing when it's my show or Skip's show. But I hate it at other people's shows where it covers up my hearing the words. :)
-
Healthy vibes to vixmom!

Nice. I hope it is repeated tomorrow.

Good evening!
-
First off - Happy Birthday DR CHASSMITH!
-
Today was a 2 performance day for A Christmas Carol-The Musical and we just had fun - both shows. I played with quite the reckless abandon and had a wonderful time one more show tomorrow.
In the morning, I met with most of the choreographers for a variety show I'm doing the spring. 30 plus numbers - I'll need to create the arrangements and score for our band. It's great work, but takes a lot of time, so I'm hoping to start more sooner than later.
-
I'm listening to the soundtrack for "Scrooge" as I'm catching up on the computer. As much as I like other musical versions of this story, this is the BEST soundtrack.
Which reminds me, I need to order the cast recording for bk's new version!
-
To increase my unease, Annabelle is not eating and I cannot clear up this congestion. I cannot afford $100/week to have her sinuses flushed, so I'm in a state already.
Can you get a small pet "syringe" (which doesn't have a needle) and flush her out yourself? Check to see what "human" sinus aide are not harmful for pets and try that. Or give her a 1/2 of benedryl.

Well, dinner at my parents' was lasagna...store-bought, but good.
-
After dinner, I went to see the radio play version of A Christmas Story at Olympia Little Theatre.
-
It was pretty good. It was interesting to see the differences between that version, the musical, and the original movie (I haven't read the original book).
-
Good evening.
-
The actor playing Jean the narrator was really good.
-
Hi, Tom and John.
-
Home from our final evening performance.
-
Another night that the cast apparently went out together which I was not invited to attend.
-
They had a great time out together last night, as well.
-
Oh well, they probably figured that I needed to get back to the home before curfew.
-
I came home tonight feeling very depressed. Not because I wasn’t invited out.
-
Another night that the cast apparently went out together which I was not invited to attend.
That's crap. >:(
-
Page 7
-
I thought that the actress playing the mother was kind of bland...not bad per se, but not as much acting as the character needs. When I got home, I read her bio and she's only in eighth grade! As the director wrote in the program, since it's a radio play, the voices matter more than the performer's "type."
-
She just doesn't have the experience to act with her voice, yet.
-
She just doesn't have the experience to act with her voice, yet.
That, rather than her age, would seem a good reason not to use her in that role.
-
Another night that the cast apparently went out together which I was not invited to attend.

Ditto to that!!
-
I think what depressed me was that this should have been such a great experience. A great role, with great responses from the audience, but instead it was such a disappointment.
-
She just doesn't have the experience to act with her voice, yet.
That, rather than her age, would seem a good reason not to use her in that role.
True, but if not enough people auditioned, the director had to cast whoever she could get. :-\
-
Not the way I wanted to go out.
-
Not the way I wanted to go out.
That's really too bad.
-
Matthew, which version of CHRISTMAS CAROL are you doing?
-
We are totally sold out for tomorrow’s final performance.
-
But you have a lot of really great experiences to remember. This was just one show in a long line of shows. :)
-
I expected that we would be sold out for most of the run. It just didn’t happen.
-
We are totally sold out for tomorrow’s final performance.
Congrats to that!
-
But you have a lot of really great experiences to remember. This was just one show in a long line of shows. :)
Oh I know. You are right. I just went into this show with such high hopes.
-
Whoops! I was wrong. We have one seat in the back row that is not sold. DAMN!
-
I think I will watch the dvd of my version of SCROOGE THE MUSICAL when I get home tomorrow afternoon, or evening.
-
The Wicked Witch of the South gave us fair warning that no one was leaving tomorrow until strike is completed.

Oh! I almost forgot! The best part about seeing the play tonight...the theater does raffles to raise money, and this time the raffle is for a weekend in Seattle with a dinner at the Space Needle and $50 cash (it's all one prize). They'll draw the winner at the end of the run.

BUT, each night they also draw a ticket from the tickets that were sold that night to win two free tickets to any upcoming show in their season (and that raffle ticket does go back in the drawing for the big prize), and I won tonight's two free tickets! I've never won before (but what really helped is that it looked like only three or four tickets were sold at all tonight. ::)

Damn! That would be worth going down to see the show.

I won that, was it two years ago?

I would love dinner at the Space Needle, except for the glass floor.

I'd go, even now. I've never eaten there.

Great food, and the price would certainly be right.
