Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of number six of the final six, and now it is time for you to post until the final six cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: COMPENDIOUS!
-
DR TCB will you fill in the survey?
-
Bruce congrats on the show.
-
I have not been able to sleep, at all.
-
It is almost four and I can’t even doze
-
DR TCB will you fill in the survey?
I haven’t decided yet. That is probably one of the reasons I can’t sleep.
-
I’m afraid I am keeping Nicky awake.
-
I guess I will read for a time.
-
First on the east coast
-
I hope Elmore is feeling better
-
I hope TCB is happily in the land of Nod
-
I wonder TCB, if the rest of the cast thinks you didn't go to the early rehearsals by choice rather than because that's how the director scheduled you
-
Also you seem to have a reputation as a well known and admired actor , coukd itbe they were intimidated and felt that you wouldn't want to mingle with amateurs like themselves?
-
Good morning, all!
-
It was another dreadful night: up every hour, horrible dreams, my nose runs steadily, my eyeballs and teeth ache, and faithful Thatch stayed beside me all night,
-
I fed the cats and went back to bed, then got up, cleaned the litter, and here I am. I will not wander far from my bed today.
-
DR TCB, I don't know enough about this turd stage manager or the company doing Yes Virginia, but it sounds to me as though you got into a "mean girls" situation with a clique-y group of asses. You are better than they and if you ever see any of them again, be cordial and no more.
And don't you dare stop auditioning or performing!
-
T.O.D.
I will be picking up my dear wife at the airport.
-
Good morning, all.
-
It's a Saturday, and life is crazy. I have to finish up some shopping of various kinds, and it's going to be hell out there. But I have no other obligations, so I shall do it with a leisurely outlook and go with the flow, baby. Go with the flow.

Get Well Vibes for DR Elmore.
Move On and Be Happy Vibes for TCB.
Health (and wealth) and Getting Through the Holidays Vibes for all of us.

It is almost four and I can’t even doze
Sorry. I was awake from around 1:00 to 3:30 or 4:00. Then I slept until 6:00..
-
DR TCB will you fill in the survey?
I haven’t decided yet. That is probably one of the reasons I can’t sleep.
Understandable.

I will be picking up my dear wife at the airport.
On Christmas day? Where is she returning from?
-
That was my question, too, DR JANE!
-
Feeling better today....must have just been a bit of food rejection by the old system.....

TOD:
My Mom's birthday....she would have been 87.....my first of her birthdays in my life without her....
Don't have any plans, but something may come up. If not, it will be a nice quiet day at home - which is FINE.

Larry, I happened across this from "Leader of the Pack" and Patrick Cassidy doing "Doo Wah Diddy" reminded me of our trip to Hartford to see him in "The Music Man."

Was "Doo Wah Diddy" the "shipoopi" of its time?

A friend gave me a hand painted exact reproduction of the poster used for Judy Garland's show at the local Clowes Hall back in 1967....I finally got it hung up over the computer in the dance/entertainment room.....it looks nice.
That was the performance - on Sunday night - when Frances Farmer attended the show and stood up as Judy ran by to open the show....Judy stopped and talked for a few minutes while the orchestra vamped...tickets $4-$10

Saturday morning greetings! Today is a baking and wrapping day for me. Rice pudding is in the oven and butter is softening for shortbread cut-out cookies later. I’ll be at the package-wrapping table if anyone needs me...
-
Good afternoon, all.
-
Another rainy day. The sun came out a few minutes, then vanished.
-
We've been playing lots of cards lately. Rummy. It's been fun.
-
Vibes for Michael.

I will be getting together with family at my nephew's house. We're having carp, which is regional. In fact, we toured the carp museum here.
-
We even heard a carp charleston and a carp waltz.
-
The real question is how you're going to celebrate tomorrow and the most wonderful of all days, Noche de los Rabanos/Night of the Radishes?
-
Has anyone here read Nancy Mitford? I've started her book, Christmas Pudding, and it's like a winning cross between Wodehouse and Waugh.

Vibes for Elmore.

That is hard, especially on Christmas.

FEEL BETTER SUPER FAST VIBES FOR DR ELMORE!

If you're looking for a laugh, yes.

I will be picking up my dear wife at the airport.
I read that as packing, I was wondering to whence you were shipping her

Cold be gone vibes for Elmore

I'm up, I'm up - six hours of sleep, and in ten minutes I think I'll do the Costco thing.
-
Taking a break - might be time for a nap...
-
I've barely left my bed today. Thatch has stayed with me. Annabelle is buried inside a bookshelf of theatre programs. She says she's doing research. I say she's sleeping.

One more post.

How is your son enjoying his first Texas Christmas season DR DRUXY?
He seems to be enjoying it. Settling in very well.
We'll probably have breakfast or lunch together tomorrow.
-
I drifted off somewhere between four and five. I was up to feed Nick by 7:30.
-
I expect there will be a nap in my future. There will be, if I expect to make it to the gathering this evening.
-
T.O.D.
Dinner and gifts at my sister and brother-in-law's home.
-
I am responsible for bringing (in addition to my gifts) Uncle's (that's me) Famous Shrimp Dip. The name of the dip is an old joke.
-
Has anyone here read Nancy Mitford? I've started her book, Christmas Pudding, and it's like a winning cross between Wodehouse and Waugh.
I have not. Should I?
If you're looking for a laugh, yes.
I will put the book on my wish list.
-
Hmmm, the library doesn't have the book. Are there any other Nancy Mitford books you recommend?
-
Back from Costco, which was a madhouse, but I managed to escape in about thirty minutes and got almost everything. One of things I don't like about it is that for years they carry what you like and then suddenly they don't. So, I had to go to Gelson's and get much smaller versions of things that I would normally only need two of. What a joke. But all foodstuffs have been bought save for rolls, which I'll get after tomorrow's matinee. Oh, and tuna for the tuna pasta salad - the one thing I forgot to put on my list. Annoying.
-
We almost went to Costco today, glad we didn't. We did a quick stop at Fred Meyer where only the parking lot was an issue.
-
There's one thing at Costco I'm almost in need of (cat litter) but wild horses could not have dragged me into their parking lot on the Saturday before Christmas.
-
I did succeed in making about ten (yes, ten) other stops in the six hours I was out.
I should be awarded a medal for getting back alive. (I'll probably just be given a laurel, and hearty handshake.)
-
I'm at the theater and the intermission of our matinee just ended. Last night's performance went well and so far our audiences have enjoyed it very much!
-
After last night's show, I went to my friend pug's house for her annual Yulefest. It was quite festive and much food and chatting was had by all!
-
Back to the show!
-
A wonderful Indiegogo package was delivered today. Thank you, BK, these are really great.

Great poster, Jrand!
-
I fell asleep watching the Abbott and Costello Holiday Hour. I got about a twenty minute nap.
-
Hmmm, the library doesn't have the book. Are there any other Nancy Mitford books you recommend?
No. I'm new to her. I have another back at home but can't remember the title.

One letter arrangement makes a world of difference.

Now there's something I'd love, that I never think of doing, or seeking out -- watching old holiday specials. Christmas and otherwise. I'm an idiot. I would absolutely love that.
-
NO!. There is no evening performance tomorrow for A CHRISTMAS STORY??
-
We've been playing lots of cards lately. Rummy. It's been fun.

Just ouzo and beer. Not together.

That is the only time I could see the show!

Not much. We are staying home. I will likely be packing. I might work out at the clubhouse in the morning.
-
Let's move on ...
-
Looks like we did. Move on, that is.
-
It's late but i don't feel like bed yet. I'm listening to the new Michael Connelly novel.
-
I just ate a Marie Callender's turkey pot pie.
Around here we call that: dinner.
It was exactly what I wanted, all I wanted, and it went down so well with this Beyer Ranch Cabernet 2016 someone so kindly brought over and left without.
-
Went to dinner at my sister's favorite place tonight. I had spaghetti vongole, which was well prepared. The kitchen used canned clams and added shells presumably to make it look fresh. It was silly and i said nothing. My German is not that good. It didnt help a dish that tasted good already.

DR Elmore: I stumbled across this the other day. Maybe it isn't new to you, but I'd never seen it...
-
A couple of sample pages (click to enlarge)...
-
...
-
Is this what has always been sent out on rental, or is it more recent?
-
NO!. There is no evening performance tomorrow for A CHRISTMAS STORY??
No. The only shows left are tonight, tomorrow's matinee, and Monday's matinee.
-

Dark Sacred Night? I haven't read Two Kinds of Truth yet. Maybe it isn't necessary.
-
I just put a hold on Dark Sacred Night. I am #146 of 146 holds on 20 books.
-
I checked out Two Kinds of Truth.
-
I also put a hold on my other library and am #222 of 222 holds on 18 books.
-
After today's matinee (which had a couple of goobers but otherwise went well), I came in to work to finish our end-of-fiscal year roll-over...the bane of my (work) existence! :P
-
Tomorrow evening is a good friend's annual (for 20 or more years running, now) holiday bash.
It's always on the 23rd and is almost always populated by the same group of jolly idiots who bring great food, libation, and spirit.
I only mention it because the sudden reminder that this partay is tomorrow night slaps me into reality, or something closely resembling it.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Our call time is is 6:00, but I let the stage manager know that I was going to be late. I just did what should be the very last step, then I just need to confirm that things happened the way they should have, then I can leave. I will definitely get there before the house opens, though.
-
I'm listening to A CAROL CHRISTMAS. I can't say enough good things about it. I've been playing it every day.

I'm listening to A CAROL CHRISTMAS. I can't say enough good things about it. I've been playing it every day.
I can't remember if mine was being sent to my house or work. If work, the earliest that I would get it is Wednesday. But if it's going to my house, it might come today...or Wednesday.
-
Well, I need to check on things, then hopefully I can leave work soon.
Be back later!
-
Sleep vibes to TCB--but not until you're home and in bed.
-
Major health vibes to DR Elmore.
-
Also you seem to have a reputation as a well known and admired actor , coukd itbe they were intimidated and felt that you wouldn't want to mingle with amateurs like themselves?
I was thinking something similar. Perhaps they see you as different from them--mature, experienced, and of course handicapped. A silly way to think, but people do. They may have thought you wouldn't want to associate with them.

Well, I got the roll-over done. Now, I just need to "close" 2018 and it's REALLY finished! Whew!
-
I got to the theater a liitle before 7:00. ::) That definitly was cutting it close. I think they had to hold the house until I got here, but I'm here and ready to go!

After tonight's show, I'm going home and snuggling with my cat.

Tomorrow, we have a matinee, then our cast party!

We just got our five minute call.

Have a good evening George.
-
Back from a full house, great audience and mostly great show. It was the Ibsen version because the center light blew out as soon as the first light cue happened. So in the opening number our leading man has one of three solos in a solo light there - he was in complete darkness, and then there was no center front light at all so things were a bit dark. It'll be fixed for the matinee.
-
My old pal Betsy Slade was there - we did Forget-Me-Not Lane at the Taper and she's in the video, too. Great to see her. And also Michelle Lee - we had great fun gabbing.
-
Good evening.

OMG! I love Michelle Lee. I wore out my OBC record of SEESAW.

Why would anyone want to get married three days before Christmas?
-
Wait, let me clarify that. Why would anyone want to get married?
-
Saturday morning greetings! Today is a baking and wrapping day for me. Rice pudding is in the oven and butter is softening for shortbread cut-out cookies later. I’ll be at the package-wrapping table if anyone needs me...
Ginny, is rice pudding a Christmas tradition in your family?
-
Also you seem to have a reputation as a well known and admired actor , coukd itbe they were intimidated and felt that you wouldn't want to mingle with amateurs like themselves?
Actually, after thinking it over, I believe a lot of it is that I only had scenes with three other actors in the play. All the rest of my time onstage was narration to the audience. You always get to know the actors who you share the stage with more than the ones you don’t interact with.
-
That is my theory, and am going to stick to it.

It will soon be Christmas Eve Eve.

No George tonight.

Well, I didn't go directly home. A few of us went out for a bit, and now I'm home and snuggling with my cat. :D

Thanks, Jane! We had a really good show and audience tonight!

That's very true. And doing tech for shows, you never get to know the actors unless you actually already know them.

Topic of the Day:
Christmas Eve, I have our final performance of A Christmas Story, then we have to strike all the props and costumes and set pieces. There is no actual set, other than the giant real Christmas tree up and center stage. I don't know who's taking that out. ::)
-
After that, I'm going to my parents' house for our family's Christmas and gift exchange.
-
Christmas day, I think we're all going to my sister's house for a day of relaxation, eating, and card playing.
-
I think my niece wants to play Monopoly instead of cards, so we'll see what happens.
-
Well, I really hate to do it, but need some sleep. Today was a day like no other and I want to recover from it and sleep will help. Tomorrow will definitely be an easier day...just the show and then the cast party.
-
Good night, and have a good Sunday, all!
