Well, you've read the notes, the notes were written on the night before the day of the night of the Do, and now it is time for you to post until the day of the Do cows come home.

Bed made, litter cleaned, second cup of coffee, so I must be on the mend.  Yesterday, in my drugged state, I left the deli turkey out after their noon treat.  I figured I'd let it stay at room temperature, and the cats would finish it off last night.  At 8:00PM I couldn't find it.  I have no idea where it is, if I absent-mindedly tossed it with the garbage yesterday at some point, or if it's rotting away somewhere in the apartment.  Well, I'm off to market very shortly.

Christmas Eve greetings!  All the creatures are stirring in our household, but Rob will crash soon because he just got home from work.  I’m about to start some cooking for tonight and tomorrow, Richard is just returning from Central Pastry, and Mary Linda is puttering.  We’re expecting Santa early so we can celebrate Christmas with them before they leave for Michigan tomorrow morning.

This has turned into an unsettling morning.  We have a young African-American USPS delivery truck driver I see maybe twice a year.  He usually leaves packages in the hall under the post boxes, and if I see him, he have a cordial conversation.  Last week I ordered a 20-lb bag of Meow Mix dry cat food, and he rang my bell so I let him in the building.  I was getting sick but I was surprised to see that he brought the bag up to my door.  I made a comment along the lines of "I thought this was coming tomorrow," and then he started hinting about a Christmas bonus.  Today, as I was leaving doe market, he showed up at my door and said, you told me if I came back today, you'd have something for me.  I closed the door and locked it behind me and said, "No I did not."

I used to give my regular postman a bonus, but the local post office is so screwed up, I don't even know who it is these days, but I'm certainly not going to give a bonus to a delivery man I very occasionally see who thinks I should!  I will discuss this with the super when he stops by today to check my bathroom faucet.

I am grateful we have good delivery people here.  Today the special package arrived, Bryan's gift to Keith.  It is very special, a Dulcimer Bryan made using a cigar box.  It is beautiful and rather fancy.  He gave Keith a choice of accent colors and Keith chose gold which is why it is so fancy.  There is more gold than I expected.

Brya added a sweet touch labeling it Mountain Dog.  I about cried at that.

Out here in the 'burbs, I got into the habit of tipping the regular mail carrier each December, and they were always very appreciative. After our last "known" one retired back in 2017, I never saw anyone again often enough to know whether they were the actual replacement or a substitute, so I simply quit and there's been no fallout from that.

Also used to tip the trash pickup man back when we had pickup at the house and I got used to knowing who it was every week. We eventually went to street pickups and literally never see who's doing it, so that's out, too.

Last night's party was ... well, the same as it is every year, but this year everyone just seemed especially up for it, present company included. Food, libation, and company were all great, and there were even two newly adopted (rescued) 5-month-old kittens to visit in the bathroom, their safe space for their first big gathering with company. I'll have to get that picture posted, too.

One shocking bit of news which began making the rounds was that one of our favorite couples there was either going through a rough time and "thinking" about separating, or indeed might have already begun that process. Sadly, it was confirmed this morning that divorce proceedings are indeed underway. They have three lovely children that they are both totally devoted to, so it's going to be an especially tough go. Both husband and wife are two of our finest regional actors, and he is a fine director. It's not a take sides kind of thing. We can only wish them both the best, and be there for support when needed.

Here we go. A little girl, and her brother peeking out from the carrier. Long haired black kitties, don't know if any special breed. And like all black cats, hard to photograph well.

They were permitted to join the party later when the crowd had thinned out. They already get along fine with the two large labradors -- who in turn are used to anything and everything that walks in, as it's a VERY animal friendly household.

What a beauty (referring to the top photo-can't really see the second cat).

DR George have you ever had the Schwann's before?  I am curious as I have never tried it.

Yes.  It's been a while, though.  But it's pretty good.  Not as big as Costco's, of course. ;)

Considering how rich cheese cake it smaller might be better ;)  The important question is which tastes better.

I don't care which tastes better, just as long as they both taste good enough. :D

I think tonight Annabelle, Thatch, and I will watch the ballet of A Christmas Carol.  I like Carl Davis' score very much and there's so much emotion in it.  In the Christmas Yet to Come dream, Bob Cratchit's dance with the dead Tiny Tim's crutch is heartbreaking.

It sounds lovely, Jane.

It's an Arthaus DVD I've had since 2006.  I love Carl Davis' work!  He's an American who went to London in the 1960s and had a great career.  I have a lot of his recordings.  His score for this ballet is really wonderful: lotta carol adaptation, some singing, wonderful performances/

The Do is Done and it was quite a good Do as Do's go.  There were actually quite a few people in attendance - dear reader Leslie and daughter Alexa, Kay Cole and her ever-lovin' Michael, Adryan Russ and her ever-lovin' Dale, dear readers Amy and Mark and Meg (singingnymph), Shelly Markham, Elizabeth and Richard Sherman, Jimmy Mulligan, Sami and her mom, Doug, Dorathy, and daughter Hartley, with her hubby Bill, Robert Yacko, Alby Potts, Joanna Erdos, Richard Allen, Henry Stanny and wife Nancy Hoven, Marshall Harvey, and no Geissmans due to illness - I may be forgetting someone.  I think we had a few more last year, but you would never have known that by the amount of spaghetti and tuna pasta salad consumed.  They went through four pounds of pasta and a good deal of the sauce, which was proclaimed to be the best it's ever been.

This really was a fun show to be in.  There were problems (a couple of actors quitting and the director having family issues and having to leave the production), but it all came together and our audiences really seemed to like it.

I would have seen it for you, George; but I still hate A CHRISTMAS STORY.

Those are some beefy elves.

Well, two out of the three (the one guy kneeling has a very slight build)...but they're all really nice guys.

Sorry, I didn’t notice him.
