Well, you've read the notes, the notes were finishing the notes, and now it is time for you to post until the finishing the cows cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SUBSTANTIVE!
-
Hello from our last night in Singapore.
-
Jane, where do you go next?
-
Bruce, CONGRATULATIONS on completing your 19th book 😊😊🎈🎈🎈
-
Jane, where do you go next?
Home, sweet home 😊
-
Safe trip!
-
Thank you. We will head to the airport around 7:15 tomorrow.
-
An extremely nice breakfast buffet is included with our room so we will be up early to enjoy it. Some will enjoy it more than others. I find it difficult to eat that early.
-
We have to pack tonight. Basically we have only been using the clothes we put into our roll on bags and taking nothing from our large suitcase. Tonight we need to switch things around to adjust the weight. I hate this restrictions as the overweight charges are high. We get 75 pounds per checked bag on the larger flight, Singapore to Tokyo to Vancouver, B.C. But the last flight home only gives us 50 pounds. Annoying to us if instead of 2 bags between us we only take one it does not permit us more weight for only one bag.
-
Tonight we are going to try the Japanese restaurant in the hotel. I hope it is ad good as the ladt two nights of meals
-
Good morning, all.
-
Congratulations on finishing the book, BK.
-
TCB, I did watch Rocky and Bullwinkle (I even had them on sheets), but i don’t remember Excelsior.
-
Off to work.
-
Donald Trump has received a nomination for worst actor from the Razzies.
-
Keith put his Singapore blog up on Facebook.

"Our third day in Singapore. Tomorrow we fly home. What a surprise the city-state has been. Thoroughly enjoyable and certifiably unique. In 2005, the government set out to remake Singapore from a garden city to a City in a Garden. The Cloud Forest, Flower Dome and Supertree Grove—all part of Gardens by the Bay—and the National Botanical Gardens (of which the Singapore’s National Orchid Garden is a UNESCO World Heritage site), go a long way to fulfilling the mandate. If you want to get a feel for the scope of the Bay Gardens, click on the 30-second clip below."

Good morning, all!
-
Annabelle is quite frisky this morning. Both she and Thatch are jumping, leaping, climbing all over the place and knocking things onto the floor.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Greetings from the land of one (1) degree.
-
Tonight we will be the land of no degrees. Zero. Nada.
-
Congratulations to BK on his completion of the book!
-
DR Elmore, some channel yesterday was running The Lion King movie. We had it on mute while each of us was doing whatever, and when I glanced over at it at one point, I was amazed to see Thatch. The young Simba’s face and expression was exactly as I see Thatch’s personality in my mind’s eye when you are speaking of him.
-
Greetings from the land of one (1) degree.
Too cold.
-
Tonight we will be the land of no degrees. Zero. Nada.
What I just said ;)
-
It is currently 86 degrees in Singapore and 36 degrees at home. I wish I could stop on the way home someplace between the two temps.
-
I might be brain dead this morning, but I haven’t figured out vixmom’s hinting as to why she was inspired to watch Six Feet Under last night.
But I loved that series. We watched it “live” throughout its run, and I look forward to journeying through it all again someday.
-
So, back to the anthologies. Tonight’s pleasure: From Beyond the Grave.
(A perfect rejoinder to Six Feet Under, say what?)
I’m watching all of the Amicus titles together, which I’m finding particularly rewarding and instructive.
-
Subotsky!
-
DR CHAS SMITH's viewing inspired me to open Page Two with one of my favorite producer's name.
-
Congrats to MR BK on finishing the hat.
-
Travel vibes and getting home vibes for DR JANE & KEITH.
-
DR GEORGE for some reason the Fox logo music in BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY sounds like it's coming out of a tin can.....BUT THE music in the movie is great.
-
Not sure if the heat man is coming today or waiting until tomorrow when it is going to be 40 degrees - since he has to do some work outside.
-
I am holding onto my money because it is going to fly away soon.
I also have to get a new battery for my car - since it will not turn over in cold weather....and drags if it's in the low twenties temperature wise....
It's only two years old, but the only one they had to fit my car at WalMart back then was a one year SMALL battery....so I'm going to CAR X.

Oh some sailor! Oh some scholar!
Oh some wise man from the skies.
Please to tell this little pilgrim
Where the place called morning lies.

You know, I have never seen "The Lion King," so this is a good reason to watch it. If nothing else, Annabelle and Thatch will hopefully enjoy it, and it will be a good alternate to the films Annabelle keeps adding to my Netflix queue. Sje and I need to have a serious discussion on why I refuse to rent "Kitten With A Whip" for her.
-
Travel vibes and getting home vibes for DR JANE & KEITH.
Ditto!
-
The litter was an ordeal this morning. Thatch is enthusiastic and fastidious in his grooming and toilette, as opposed to the lackadaisical princess Annabelle who never buries anything, but in his enthusiasm of the past day he's tossed litter out of the box and all over the litter mats.

I finished the first draft of the 20th play in THE HOLLYWOOD LEGENDS Collection.
Now, I distance myself from it for a few days before I look at it again.

Stay warm DR Jrand.

Travel vibes for Jane.

Congratulations, DR Druxy, on finishing your latest.

Monday afternoon greetings! We did, indeed, stay in all weekend because of the weather. The snow didn't arrive until Saturday evening, but it had rained all day and a layer of ice formed before the snow started accumulating. It made a real mess of our driveway, which Richard and Rob maintained enough for Rob to get in and out for work. Mary Linda came home from ballet teaching early Saturday afternoon and didn't go anywhere until work this morning. Richard and I stayed in Saturday and Sunday and he's just returning from an exercise class at the senior center up the street.
-
We watched a college basketball double header on Saturday and a pro football double header on Sunday. And I cooked - a lot.
-
It is currently 9o, but the sun is out and the sky is blue. Everything's a trade-off...
-
I'm up, I'm up - somewhere between six and seven hours of sleep due to brain overload.
-
Icicles on the tree limbs. Everywhere. On even the tiniest. Even the bright sun can't do much with it.
Click to enlarge a little bit.
-
Danbury got the prize today for greatest amount of ice measured, at over half an inch.
-
Furnace man not coming until tomorrow.....when temps go up to the forties.
-
Cole Porter wrote the best poetry I know.
-
TCB, I did watch Rocky and Bullwinkle (I even had them on sheets), but i don’t remember Excelsior.
I didn't have the sheets, but was Excelsior a prominent part of the show that I don't recall? I did watch the TV show.
-
Looking at YouTube, I saw some GET SMART clips. Isn't it incredible that the shoe phone seemed like something so impossible in reality, given modern technology?
-
DR GEORGE for some reason the Fox logo music in BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY sounds like it's coming out of a tin can.....the but music in the movie is great.
I know it's just a typo, but "the but music" brings to mind the "most attractive can" line from Lover Come Back.

What? Me again? It's been a long time but here I am. Hello, Larry, Jane, Bruce. Just got my first smart phone & learning how to use it

Hello! So good to see you.
-
I never knew there were Rocky and Bullwinkle sheets. Damn! I previously
misspoke mistyped. It was Bullwinkle’s Corner, not Poetry Corner. And thanks to You Tube we still have it today.

Hey, Jose! Who else should I remember? Grey cells not working too well at 74. :D
-
*Taps Foot*
-
The LOGO music of the movie.....where did but music come from?
I am sure DR FJL will say - the obvious place.
I think EXCELSIOR was a birthmark on Bullwinkle's foot that meant he was royalty of some kind....but it turned out to just be an impression from his bath mat....
-
Hey, Jose! Who else should I remember? Grey cells not working too well at 74. :D
Jose no longer shows up here, DR William F. Orr; he abandoned us for Facebook.
-
Congrats to DR DRUXY on finishing his first draft.
-
The face I am making in my avatar is the face I made when the heat pump man told me he was not coming until tomorrow....it is my Roosevelt Face.....
-
When he walks in tomorrow, will you bellow The jig is up!?
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Sending some degrees to DR Chazz and others in zero-degree land. DR Ginny may be able to grab a few, too; I think she'd like some.
-
DR George gets today's prize for Best Bargains. Vixmom often wins, too.

What? Me again? It's been a long time but here I am. Hello, Larry, Jane, Bruce. Just got my first smart phone & learning how to use it
Welcome back! I'm not sure you were still posting when I joined in 2006, but I certainly know your name.
-
Congrats to BK on the new book. Looking forward to it.
-
Congrats to Druxy on the new play.
-
I'm reading Bill Cunningham's FASHION CLIMBING and really loving it. Bill had such a huge love of fashion that no one could keep him from it. He reminds me of BK in a way; some people have such a great affinity to something that they gravitate to it at an early age and never tire of it.

Hi. It is wonderful to see you again. Enjoy your phone and please come visit us more often. I am using my phone while riding to the airport.

Hey, Jose! Who else should I remember? Grey cells not working too well at 74. :D
Well there's me, but I have been derelict in calling and catching up. I shall attempt to do so this week
-
It is much warmer here than where Chas resides, we've been enjoying a balmy 7degrees F
-
The wind has been fierce
-
Yesterday I bought a new living room rug .
-
Today Vixdad and I rolled up the old and unrolled the new
-
And the tree has finally been stripped of its ornaments
-
And said ornaments are now packed away and back in the crawl space

My knees are killing me

Travel vibes for DR Jane assuming she hasn't left yet. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
Futzed and finessed - that took almost ninety minutes - lots of typos to fix, I made some deletions, did some additions, and there's one little half-page thing at the end I'm not sure about - but I'll leave that to Muse Margaret - if she feels it should go it's an easy deletion - I'm on the fence about it. Once finished, I printed out all 132 pages from the last six days. I then went and got them Xeroxed, then delivered them to Muse Margaret, and now I await her call.
-
No one was available for celebrating, so I went and had a patty melt and onion rings, then picked up some packages, then came home. I did five fixes that I hadn't done - stuff for Muse Margaret - those were very easy, and so that's all done and I'm really hoping she likes the new pages. I thought there was going to be much more to futz and finesse, but in the end I thought they read pretty well.
-
Listening to music.

Thanks. We are at the best airport in the world. Even the bathroom is exceptional.
-
We are flying to Hong Kong. I believe I had said Tokyo.
-
More names for DR William F Orr....
George, TCB, John G, Jennifer, Laura, Michael (as in Shayne), Jrand, Chas, Druxy. I can’t remember any more.
-
Keith just added a new photo on facebook of the cute happy face flush button in the bathroom 🤣
-
My knees are killing me
Not fun.
-
William Orr, as I live and breathe.
-
Good evening.
-
There was a knock on the door at 6:30 am, which was recorded on our new cameras. It took us a while to figure out how to access it.
-
Just had the Muse Margaret call - she absolutely loved it and I could not be happier. She had a few small things - two little deletions (and good ones), and one little addition and that's it. Whew!
-
I think I'll just reveal what it is in the notes. :)

Excellent news!

I found a copy of Desk Set tonight. I've been looking for one for a while now. Love that movie. So, of course, I had no time to watch it tonight.
-
Instead I went to my first Restaurant Weeks dinner (a fundraiser the local food charity hosts each January and August). I had a pizza, which I'd been wanting since Germany. It had pepperoni, Italian sausage and red peppers. Very nice.
-
I also picked up a couple of books, including a Library of Congress volume of the collected writings of Nathanael West. I love Day of the Locust and might have to re-read that this year.
-
Now it's time to relax before bed.
-
Today was a hard day. It went from 7:30 to 6 with at least 8 meetings sandwiched in-between the work. It's shutdown related, so it was necessary. I don't know if tomorrow will be a repeat.
-
Tomorrow I'm ushering for Legally Blonde.
-
So, I won't get to see Desk Set tomorrow night either.
-
I doubt I'll get time to finish Beloved either. I've only got 75 pages left.
-
I did finish the bad office book club choice, a sci-fi adventure called Dark Matter. Laughable.
-
Let's move on ...
-
Five!
-
Today's was the first MLK day I've had off in 12 years. It was nice
-
Did Muse Margaret's stuff - the two additions I'll run by her, although they were so tiny I'm sure she'll be fine.
-
Went to Ralph's for liquid refreshments.
-
Listening to a wonderful box set of Black composers, from the 1700s to the 1970s - really incredible music. This was a series of Columbia LPs that came out in the series, ten in all. Beautifully remastered in a nice box, original album art and a terrific booklet - about three bucks a CD.
-
Looking forward to hearing what the book isbut work tomorrow so good night
-
Congrats, BK, on finishing your 19th book!! Can't wait to read it!
-

;D I hope the knock was from a friendly person.

Very nice. I am surprised you are closed.

Every time there's a new Mama Rose, the usual suspects come out of the woodwork to tell us how brilliant the latest is, while dissing Miss Merman, who, so they say, wasn't the actress the others are. Which, of course, is total horse manure. Watch this clip and tell me anyone anywhere has ever EVER sung this better. This was while she was doing the show, probably toward the beginning. The ending of this is a textbook in playing a lyric.

In last night's notes, jan wrote: George, i hope this screenex thing doesn't give you motion sickness.
Jan, I've never had a problem with any kind of motion sickness, but I don't think that this would cause motion sickness in anyone. Essentially, they just took certain scenes (for this movie, the musical segments) and filmed wider than the normal width and projected those shots onto the side walls to give the effect of a distorted but super wide panoramic view.
-
I'm really glad that we went to the 11:30 a.m. matinee because the full evening price is $16 and I don't think it's worth the extra price...IMHO (in my humble opinion in Internet lingo). ::)
-
As for the movie itself, I really liked it. Rami Malek really seemed to capture Freddie Mercury. He was great. Gwilym Lee, the actor who plays Brian May, really looks like him and was very good, too. The rest of the cast were also very good. Mike Myers has a small role and it took a while for me to realize that it was him. I recommend it. :)
-
DR GEORGE for some reason the Fox logo music in BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY sounds like it's coming out of a tin can.....BUT THE music in the movie is great.
It's actually in the style of one of Queen's songs. I don't remember which, though.

Looking at YouTube, I saw some GET SMART clips. Isn't it incredible that the shoe phone seemed like something so impossible in reality, given modern technology?
It's amazing that so many things have actually been created based on ideas that came from futuristic or science fiction movies and TV.
-

Welcome back, William F. Orr!

Good evening.

I don’t know anyone who has a shoe phone.
-
Hi, George.
-
Should Rami Malek win the Oscar?
-
Hi, Tom.
-
Should Rami Malek win the Oscar?
I don't know about winning (it depends on who he will be up against), but he definitely deserves to be nomintated.

Nice! I really like that show.

My Last Duchess
BY ROBERT BROWNING
That’s my last Duchess painted on the wall,
Looking as if she were alive. I call
That piece a wonder, now; Fra Pandolf’s hands
Worked busily a day, and there she stands.
Will’t please you sit and look at her? I said
“Fra Pandolf” by design, for never read
Strangers like you that pictured countenance,
The depth and passion of its earnest glance,
But to myself they turned (since none puts by
The curtain I have drawn for you, but I)
And seemed as they would ask me, if they durst,
How such a glance came there; so, not the first
Are you to turn and ask thus. Sir, ’twas not
Her husband’s presence only, called that spot
Of joy into the Duchess’ cheek; perhaps
Fra Pandolf chanced to say, “Her mantle laps
Over my lady’s wrist too much,” or “Paint
Must never hope to reproduce the faint
Half-flush that dies along her throat.” Such stuff
Was courtesy, she thought, and cause enough
For calling up that spot of joy. She had
A heart—how shall I say?— too soon made glad,
Too easily impressed; she liked whate’er
She looked on, and her looks went everywhere.
Sir, ’twas all one! My favour at her breast,
The dropping of the daylight in the West,
The bough of cherries some officious fool
Broke in the orchard for her, the white mule
She rode with round the terrace—all and each
Would draw from her alike the approving speech,
Or blush, at least. She thanked men—good! but thanked
Somehow—I know not how—as if she ranked
My gift of a nine-hundred-years-old name
With anybody’s gift. Who’d stoop to blame
This sort of trifling? Even had you skill
In speech—which I have not—to make your will
Quite clear to such an one, and say, “Just this
Or that in you disgusts me; here you miss,
Or there exceed the mark”—and if she let
Herself be lessoned so, nor plainly set
Her wits to yours, forsooth, and made excuse—
E’en then would be some stooping; and I choose
Never to stoop. Oh, sir, she smiled, no doubt,
Whene’er I passed her; but who passed without
Much the same smile? This grew; I gave commands;
Then all smiles stopped together. There she stands
As if alive. Will’t please you rise? We’ll meet
The company below, then. I repeat,
The Count your master’s known munificence
Is ample warrant that no just pretense
Of mine for dowry will be disallowed;
Though his fair daughter’s self, as I avowed
At starting, is my object. Nay, we’ll go
Together down, sir. Notice Neptune, though,
Taming a sea-horse, thought a rarity,
Which Claus of Innsbruck cast in bronze for me!
