Well, you've read the notes, the notes flew by but seemed like a week, and now it is time for you to post until the flying by cows come home.

This is my only day of City Center work, which is distressing for me, since I'm not earning enough to supplement my income.  Next month I have the damned property taxes to further complicate my life, and I hate this constant state of anxiety gripping me.

Our flight from Hong Kong to Vancouver, BC was rather bumpy.   Even though Keith doesn't get air sick he found it annoying and kept wondering why the pilot didn't get up above the turbulence.  Usually pilots make some kind of announcement regarding turbulance and what they can or cannot do to avoid it.  We got nothing.

As a precaution I set a barf bag on seat but never needed to hold on to it.  I also ate as little as possible which probably helped.

I watched another Amicus anthology last night and remembered I hadn’t reported on the prior one, FROM BEYOND THE GRAVE.

That had a different feel from the first three I’d watched — it was “quieter”, somehow, with a longer running time and more time for each story. I didn’t think to take these in chronological order, which might have been instructive. But this one’s director was different, too. The Freddie Francis and Roy Ward Baker ones seemed more assured. Still, nice material and certainly enjoyable.

Last night’s, TORTURE GARDEN, was one I had never seen all the way through. Or if I had, it was so many years ago that I’d simply forgotten much of it. American actors Jack Palance and Burgess Meredith provide a different tone, but they’re excellent and it all works well.

I’m loving these, but will have to resume tomorrow since I’ve got a “thing” to go to tonight.

Oh—did I say this before? I got arm-twisted into seeing the latest attempt at MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG on, I believe, February 12th. Obviously I agreed to it, but I do have to wonder what I was thinking, when there are other worthy things that must be seen.

It is five degrees here....with a wind chill below zero.

I turned the thermostat up to 72 degrees and will probably leave it there.  Birdy Barnum is telling me all about something, but I'm not sure what.

He spends a lot of time talking to his OWL....which was actually a little decoration to hang on a flower pot.....I hung it on his cage and he is fascinated by it.

Tomorrow my three sisters and I are having a Sock Hop in the new entertainment room which used to be my bedroom.

It is nicely set up with turntable, tv, Blu Ray Player, CD player, computer, bar stools, new rugs.....etc.

I have lots of records and cd's, and I bought a collection of 16 Magazines from the 1960's for us to read....and of course there is a collection of board games to play if we get bored....and playing cards.

I also have Fireball whiskey......and I have the makings of my famous Barnabas Collins libation.

This is made from white zinfandel and cranberry juice.  I also make frozen cranberry juice ice clumps to add....

There may be photos.

So I thought I try to explain my absences these past two months. Early in December I cellulitis and was homebound for the entire month. In mid-December, I had an unexplained week of high fevers. It wasn't the flu, but a virus of some kind. The Doctors said I neeed more bed rest in order to recover.
I went back to work at the beginning of January and within a few days of my return to work, the unexplained fevers returned, and I was out of work again to recover. This time some blood work was done and came back with an elevated white blood cell count. I recovered and went back to work.
It came back earlier this week. Seven different blood test was done this time. I received the results from some of them yesterday, my white blood cells have more than tripled what the baseline count should be. One other came back positive, and the others were negative. Moreover,  I am waiting to hear back from the other tests which I hope will arrive today.

Today, Thatch and I reached another plateau:  he likes to sleep next to me, and if I lie down for a nap during the day,  he will join me.  He doesn't like getting closer than that.  He also dislikes being held, so to my surprise, when I came in and lay down on the bed, he jumped up to join me, then climbed onto my chest, settled there and tried to chew the button off my shirt.

She's got a hot date tonight, or what?

Annabelle's too young to date, and her crushes are all afraid of me.

Mine do that climbing onto the chest thing all too rarely, but I've always loved it when they do.

I mean, all but the button chewing.

I just fed the cats, and as soon as he finished eating, Thatch threw up all over the mats holding their dishes and the floor.  What a mess!  I hope he's not sick.

We had a big cat that liked to sleep on my chest.  I would wake up gasping for air.

Hopefully not.  At least it wasn't on your bed or carpeting.  That is truly a mess.

Craig's cat has always been rather healthy.  She has one issue though, throwing up her food.  She seems to be sensitive to many foods.

Yes, both my cats were prone to the upchucking on a quasi-regular basis with no other ill effects. ::)

I know DR JANE - Lacey is tiny....10 weeks old.  I brightened up the photo so she wouldn't be so dark against my black sweatshirt.

I see that Great Performances is broadcasting the opera version of DOUBT....I watched the preview.....I'm not sure I can take it....the lady playing the lead is very scary looking....

Decided to watch the DVD of A Carol Christmas - it's certainly watchable and you can hear everything well - two cameras so he cuts in and out which helps everything move along, but he misses a few things here and there because he didn't know the show well enough.  That said, the new speech we added for the final two weeks of the run isn't there and boy did it help, and Carol's costume completely changed for the final three weeks, too.

The character of Allan (Blanche DuBois' husband) and Bunbury have a scene together and depending how things work out, they may get nekkid...or not.

Blanche DuBois' husband?

He's referred to in A Streetcar Named Desire, but he killed himself, so he's never seen.

Bunbury takes several characters from plays that are referred to, but never seen, and gives them their own play...and happy endings.  Bunbury meets Rosaline from Romeo and Juliet and he wants to give all these sad-ending characters the happy endings they deserve, but Rosaline tries to put things back the way they should be...I think that that's the plot.

Here's a play description that I found on several different sites:

What if Blanche Dubois didn’t go crazy? Or the Three Sisters actually made it to Moscow? When he discovers he’s fictitious, a never-seen character in an Oscar Wilde play, Bunbury joins forces with Rosaline, Romeo’s never-seen obsession from ROMEO AND JULIET. Together they infiltrate and alter classic literature, including giving ROMEO AND JULIET a happy ending.
