It seems like just last month:

I was 5-6 years old.

Our house was being painted, and I decided to "help" the painters when they weren't around.

I don't know why they were so upset that I mixed all their different color paints together.

Post by: ChasSmith on February 23, 2019, 05:21:55 AM: The multitude of phone scam things is beyond annoying. They’re a national nuisance and a threat to people’s sanity and - literally, in many cases - their well being.

It’s impossible to believe that the technology to better protect us against that crap isn’t readily available. Over the past few years I’ve learned to recognize the types of calls to completely ignore, but I spend more time deleting “missed calls” and cycling through the same two or three bullshit recorded messages about my interest rates, etc., than I care to imagine.

And forget about identifying any one number as being the actual source. Like someone already said, they can make ANYTHING appear on Caller ID, including your own name and phone number. When I first started getting the occasional call from myself I took it as some kind of phone company glitch. Not so. And there will always be new numbers. You can “block” them to your heart’s content, but you are, in fact, blocking nothing. I tried it for a while. Don’t even bother. You’ll never know the actual originating number, and in all likelihood it isn’t even located in the US.

And then when they resurfaced, that Julie started sabotaging our work two weeks after a very promising Jan. 2018 reading.

But their all having the same lawyer means the same person was drafting emails they supposedly were writing themselves. Now side by side, that the emails have a common author makes sense. That was never apparent when they were received with long periods between them.

It's a load off to realize they weren't 4 separate matters happening at once. But I have no idea with whom it started. If it's my family that it started with, it would be money and only money!!

Fortunately we don't get many of these calls on our land line.

Unless there are no other equivalent jobs, and as long as there's no discrimination or illegal retaliation involved - if you apply after the eccentricities are known in the press, isn't it on you, not on them?

Maybe there are thoughts in whether this is similar in terms of dealing with a really tough boss. For years, artistically progressive and diversity-champion producer Scott Rudin has had exposes written about him that he treated his assistants terribly, firing someone by throwing him out of the car in one story. It became clear to everyone applying to work there: You have many places you can send your resume, and you're on clear notice as you apply that he treats people this way and you WILL likely have a tense exciting job just a few months. And yet, so many highly qualified people vie for their few months working for him. At some point long ago, they knew and still wanted their time.

I think with the Presidential candidate Amy Klobuchar office, people now might apply to work there knowing what awaits, a boss saying everything bad is the worst ever - but thrilling when it clicks. (Like the Johnny Carson groaner: We're combing the streets for stories about her. Thank you, I'm here all week. Luckily, it's Saturday and the week's almost over!)

In 2019, by now, when you rely on ANYTHING Trump tweets as true, haven't you been on notice that it's a coin toss to rely on its truth? (We accept this elsewhere. He's not going to be different especially for you. Why not Presidents or candidates if you choose to think that the work is worth it?)

Why would I think it would happen again? This was the first time, aggravating as it was, in the past twenty years that I've sent payments to this HMO.

George, I hadn't heard of her either until some months back when BK mentioned her. She was a star during the 50s and 60s, but didn't care of the politics of the business and walked away from it. Still, it's surprising she isn't better known.

One of my favorite moments in movies is the barn dance in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers in which Michael Kidd's choreography and Stanley's camera made you forget the painted set.

I also loved Hepburn descending the staircase at the Louvre in Funny Face.

Aside from the rather loud and blustery artistic director boring everyone for ten full minutes prior to the show, and then feeling it necessary to do it again after the show at the reception in the lobby, it was a nice evening. Larry Eisenberg, the co-artistic director of the Group Rep, did a great job as Morrie. I don't think the play itself quite works, but it was affecting certainly if paced a little bit too slowly.
