Well, you've read the notes, the notes were fun and rehearsed, and now it is time for you to post until the fun and rehearsed cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: VERSIFY!
-
jan, Dee Dee and Alan got married around 1972 or 1973.
-
First post after BK.
-
Topic of the Day: none. I was never into dancing, so I never learned any. :-\
-
Bruce, are they still together?
-
George, how could you not like dancing? It's fun and good exercise!
-
jan, they are indeed still together in the little house they bought in Studio City back then. I lived just a block away for fourteen years until I moved here last year.
-
That is fantastic. I got married in '72 but only lasted 9 yrs. But I still live in the same house. Do the have kids, grandkids, etc.
-
George, how could you not like dancing? It's fun and good exercise!
I was a fat gay kid. I never did any kind of exercising when I was growing up.
-
...but now, even though I still don't exercise, if I do, I don't dislike it as much as I used to. ;)
-
Well, it's time for sleep.
Have a good day, all!
-
...but now, even though I still don't exercise, if I do, I don't dislike it as much as I used to. ;)
Is this why you don't walk more?
-
Good morning, all.
-
Good morning g
-
It's not question day
-
But I have a question
-
If anyone can answer it
-
How does ticketing work for opening night of Broadway shows? You always see all these known actors and politicians attending the opening. And the box office doesn't sell tickets for that night...
-
Is opening night a free event for invited guests? Do they fill the house?
-
Or do theyjust fill the orchestra and front mezzanine and leave the cheap seats empty?
-
Where is Elmore this morning?
-
He might know
-
Good morning, all.
-
...but now, even though I still don't exercise, if I do, I don't dislike it as much as I used to. ;)
I hear you. I still that way sometimes.

Jane, Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings wrote The Yearling and Cross Creek.

I did revise a couple of small things and sent the resume on again. I'm sure Kathe would get a nice signing bonus if they hire me, and this might be only round one of the resume if they reach out to me. The next would be more tailored to a certain job and need a cover letter, all of which means another round of gut-churning fun.

TOD:
I loved the twist as a kid. Still do. The ballroom I go to on Saturday nights plays it fairly regularly. Everybody gets up to dance.
The hustle is great fun, and disco music just makes you want to dance.
As the song says, I can mashed potato, I can do the twist.

I've never been a good dancer...
-
Except fir square dancing...
-
Good morning, all!
-
When I was a kid we all learned square dancing in gym every year from kindergarten right through7th grade
-
Then when I was in my teens and early 20s they used to have regular square dancing nights at Jones Beach and my friends and I would go
-
I got a new Edward R. Hamilton Books catalogue in yesterday's post and stayed up way too late reading it. I fed the cats, went back to bed till 7:30, turned off the alarm, and slept until 8:00, when Annabelle decided that I must get up.
-
A lot of the local churches would have square dancing nights and I would go
-
DR vixmom, I don't know nuthin' 'bout opening night tickets. I can't remember how it was done for Finian's Rainbow, but I think it was handled through the company management.
-
In fact, attending one particular square dancing night can be shown as a pivotal moment in my life as it eventually led (over the course of many years) to meeting Vixdad

Did you attend opening night?
-
I had a very strange dream about Mr Stephen Sondheim last night. I was at his house, and he and several musicians were trying to musicalize barking dogs and mewing cats. I remember little else about the dream now except, at the end of it, he and I were walking down a street in a suburban neighborhood; it was night and very misty. We said good night, and I watched him walk down the street and vanish in the mist.

Of course. I remember the party more than the ticket acquisition or where I sat.

Fay deWitt! I did a dreadful production of Strike Up the Band in 1989 or so for California Music Theatre, directed by a total ass, Gary Davis, with Fay, Tom Bosley, Avery Schreiber, and Donny Most. I liked her so much. Schreiber and Most were really fun, but Bosley was a creep.
-
Today I finish tackling the new orchestra parts for How To Succeed . . .
-
I must get my own arse into gear. This is a Shrek day for me, and there is plenty to do in preparation.
-
We saw Donny Most in GREASE - he played Vince Fontaine - and he was very funny....and we talked to him afterwards at the Stage Door and he was asking everyone where the nearest golf course was! LOL.
-
I loved to do the Twist....all of them.....
Of course since I attended the Eilene Garrison School of Dance, I learned tap - which I love - and some jazz....
The DISCO DANCING phase was great and I loved that - still do now and then....and of course a bit of ballroom now and then....particularly the swing dances East and West Coast, the chacha, the rhumba, and the waltzes....
-
I love doing choreography for musicals.....and when I direct, I usually do my own....my favorites I have done are Guys & Dolls, Joseph/Dreamcoat, Pajama Game, and Little Women.....
-
Jane, Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings wrote The Yearling and Cross Creek.
Thank you. I have only seen the movie of The Yearling. I just downloaded a sample of Cross Creek and see the resemblace. It is only 99 cents so I will probably purchase it.

You dance which is fantastic exercise.

Gut churning fun is a good description.

I think that is a great dance to teach kids.

Nice new review for CLIFTON WEBB on Amazon:

This was wonderful - smart and cheeky - just like Clifton Webb. When is Michael Druxman going to put a series of his biography- one-acts on Netflex or PBS with super actors so we can have another perspective of American actors for posterity. Some of the young people don't know who Elizabeth Taylor is. I had forgotten about Mr. Webb until Michaels fun and heart warming book. Mr. Webb was one of my faves as a youth. What a remarkable treasure chest of history Michael Druxman has written for us. Please take the next step and put them on video.

I don’t think so. I would, however, have to travel a lot.

Nice review , DR Druxy
-
I am tired. And I’m ushering tonight. A tour of tge All-American Girl musical. I don’t know if this is the one Cryer-Ford wrote.

Let’s move on...

Good morning.

I don't dance. Don't ask me.

Not sure when the helper is coming - sometime this afternoon.
-
The old helper was constantly complaining about no space to even move in our tiny office, which is about to become a thing of the past anyway. He would complain about this relentlessly. Yesterday, the new helper cleared three full shelves by simply throwing out empty boxes. I mean, the last helper was a disaster, actually - so much passive/aggressive behavior and we're finding he didn't ship out so many The Cardinal orders - at least fifteen so far. That is just outrageous.
-
Was this the helper who wrote down to rush this order to FL, and then sent FL's order to Florida instead of Fred Landau?
-

This sounds like the old comic strip with the father who complained that he couldn't turn off their kid's complicated stereo sytem which the kid left blaring while away a trip, and the mom goes into then kid's room and just pulls out the electric plug.

:o Yikes!
-
As they say, "Good riddance to bad rubbish." ;)
-
FJL, yes the very same one. And now he's complaining that his final check hasn't gotten to him - I mailed it last Friday afternoon and frankly I don't care if it ever gets to him - he's caused so many problems and cost me so much extra postage due to shipping incorrect CDs - and nothing was ever his fault. I was going to fire him two months ago for his attitude issues, but we had a talk and I thought things would change, but they didn't, they got worse but before I could fire him he gave his notice. Well, he "said" he gave his notice but I never got it - like lots of stuff he said he sent to me via e-mail, so that gave him an extra two weeks. I'm really annoyed at him.

I don't blame you.

What a nightmare that must have been. I think there was one time when he was probably supposed to send two things of mine in one shipment, which didn't happen. And while it wasn't any big whoop to me, it must have driven BK absolutely nuts. Can't even imagine.
-
Back from a pretty decent Shrek sitzprobe. Nothing more for us hired hands until tech week, three weeks from now.
-
And now, to decide on something to watch or listen to.
-
I liked the Mash, in fact I spent a good amount of time dancing it with Jeff Bridges at a party. I was 13 so he must have been 12. I am sure he remembers me ;)
I danced the Twist like everyone else but it was my favorite.
-
And Molly is home from her trip to Blighty.....she will get some much needed rest tonight and we will hear all about it in a day or so.
-
And the new and improved road to the Airport is great.....we can watch the plane land.....and be at the Arrival door just as they retrieve their baggage and start looking for us.....basically the airplane taxi and baggage carousel time...
-
Good book news.....
I wonder if the Old Helper has any life goals.....perhaps he wants to go into politics.....

Welcome home to Molly.

I survived American Girl The Musical. It was not by Cryer/Ford. Or anyone with a sense of rhyme or music.
-
There were 130 parents and kids who paid an extra $100 each to get a coloring book and the chance to take their kid's picture in front of an American Girl backdrop.
-
It was all rather senseless.
-
Sort of fits in with the day.
-
Many shenanigans at work today and I just sort of let them slide off me. If people want to waste my time, well, then OK. Waste it.
-
So, now I'm watching a silly piece of Hollywood nonsense called Knights of the Round Table with Robert Taylor and Mel Ferrer. It's supposedly the story of King Arthur, but it's all just an excuse for violence and some sloppy storytelling.
Ava Gardner is promised, but she hasn't shown up yet.
-
Gratuitous post No. 101!

I hate to think of all I read back in the 20th century.

Oy. He's stymied by empty boxes. Perfect for politics.

Wow! I hope it was for charity.

Tonight we watched THE MULE.

Uh, no.

Tonight we watched THE MULE.
And?
-
I'm off to bed. The last hour of Knights of the Round Table will have to wait until the morning.
-
There were 130 parents and kids who paid an extra $100 each to get a coloring book and the chance to take their kid's picture in front of an American Girl backdrop.
Was it the kind of backdrop that makes them look like they're on a red carpet for an event?
-
Tonight we watched THE MULE.
And?
We liked it.
-
We then watched a scary episode of Star Trek: Enterprise. It was the first encounter with the Borg.
-
We then watched a scary episode of Star Trek: Enterprise. It was the first encounter with the Borg.
I remember those Supreme Court hearings.
-
Or was that Bjork?
-
Page four? Really?
-
I realize watching Aquarius how every show that takes place in the 1960s is acted and feels like Mad Men, mostly in the supporting cast. I went to Gelson's and they had an interesting steak package - three tiny, thin strips of about four oz. I bought that, came home and cooked them in the frying pan and they were really quite good.
-
I think I'll watch another episode or two, but boy the detours this show takes. And it just, what is the expression, jumped the shark, when the lead character of the LA cop is at the Ambassador when Kennedy is there, discussing a blackmail with a character (I'm not kidding) and HE is the one who decides to take Kennedy through the kitchen. I mean, really?
-
Good evening.
-
Page 4? Really?

One more post.

Well, this is depressing!
-
Well, this is depressing!
This is what everyone else says when they arrive and find me here.
-
My friend Betzy and I went to brunch today.
-
Betz had the bacon and eggs.
-
I had the frittata.
-
They were both very tasty.
-
Betzy was at the Sunday performance of A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC that George attended.
-
Overall, her opinions were about the same as ours.
-
Although, she really liked the Quintet.
-
George said he had seen worse.
-
I, on the other hand, had to continue to remind myself that I didn’t want to spend my golden years in a state penitentiary.
-
Although, it would probably improve my love life.
-
Betzy just got cast in THE PRODUCERS.
-
I told her that I would be happy to join the old lady walker dance.
-
Yay! TCB is here!
-
She said that she would get back to me about that.
-
Feel better, Tom?
-
I think she was just afraid of being upstaged.
-
Yay! Jan is here.
-
Now the fun can begin.
-
Feel better, Tom?
Was I sick? I mean more than usual?
-
Where is DR George?
-
You seemed upset that people weren't jumping for joy that you were here. I'm always glad you're here.
-
Oh well, jan, it is just the two of us.
-
How should I know George is? So what's new in Tacoma?
-
You seemed upset that people weren't jumping for joy that you were here. I'm always glad you're here.
Oh sorry. I forget what I type as soon as I finish it.
-
Thank you. It is nice to be seen!
-
How should I know George is? So what's new in Tacoma?
Our Spring heat wave is over.
-
The rain has returned.
-
Page 6
-
So, my dear, what is new in your neck of the woods?
-
There's a new show on called "Tacoma FD". You should try to get on it. I think it's a comedy so you as a firefighter should fit right in. Having the fire truck tow you in your chair, sliding down the fire pole, sounds like a hit!
-
There is absolutely nothing new here, as usual. That's why I count on you and George to make me laugh.
-
Betzy just got cast in THE PRODUCERS.
Heavens (and Congrats) to Betsy!
;)
-
Hi, Tom and jan. :)
-
We then watched a scary episode of Star Trek: Enterprise. It was the first encounter with the Borg.
It's just revisionist history! >:(
-
:))
-
Where is DR George?
I have arrived!
-
Hi, Sweetpea, where ya been?
-
After work tonight, I went shopping and bought some kitty treats for Neve.
-
What kind of treats does Neve prefer?
-
Boy, do I need a change of scenery for a few days but all my travel companions have moved to other states. Do you think they're trying to tell me something?
-

Friskies treats.

That means that you travel to go see them.

Unless they forgot to give you their forwarding address. :D :D :D

After Fred Meyer, I went to McDonald's and had their new Quarter Pounder® Deluxe (https://www.mcdonalds.com/us/en-us/product/deluxe-quarter-pounder-with-cheese.html). It was good, but I don't think it's worth the extra cost. You used to be able to get things like the extra stuff (lettuce, mayo, pickles, tomatoes) added for free, but now the QP Deluxe costs more. :-\

Yeah, but who wants to go to Utah or Ohio?

Yeah, I want a burger, too.

Yes! I watched both Lawrence O'Donnell and Stephen Colbert tonight and they did segments about it! :))

course I should talk, I'm older than you.
