Well, you've read the notes, the notes skewered the notes, and now it is time for you to post until the skewered cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: BLOSSOM!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
First post after Dino!

Ask BKDay
Who is the good looking young hottie in the back row on the right in your cast photo?
-
I agree!
-
I fell asleep while reading. My tablet had fallen on my face and was pressing hard on the bridge of my nose.
-
Congrats on the show Bruce.
-
' night
-
I agree!
Ditto!! ;)
-
Congratulations to Jrand for being cast! Is this the part that you wanted?
-
Come back, BK! Enquiring minds want to know.
-
Lady Jane, did you hurt your nose?
-
Tom, how's Nicky tonight?
-
He is doing okay. He kept trying to avoid me all day so I couldn’t give him any pain liquid.
-
But I caught him after dinner.
-
Stubborn little stinkers, aren't they?

Ask BKDay
Who is the good looking young hottie in the back row on the right in your cast photo?
Hottie is Nick Sacks. Charming, funny, and good looking - about to go on the road with The Band's Visit - he's covering most of the male roles. He's the second actor I've worked with who got that tour - Marc Ginsburg (Levi) got it, too.
-
Episode five of Fosse/Verdon - sixty minutes of yakking in one setting, a total soap opera and while I haven't liked much of this series, this was, for me, rock bottom.
-
Good morning off to the doctor. Vibes for all
-
Good morning, all!
-
Congrats on the revue, BK! Have you thought about recording it?
-
Now that I can't lie around feeling sick and sorry for myself, I must do some laundry. I will still feel sick, since i cannot shake this allergy issue, but it's nice to remove the psychological issues.
-
DR JohnG, you saw Gounod's opera Faust? Did he and Mephistopheles not show up in the final prison scene to sing the great trio with Marguerite before she died?
-
Good morning, all.
-
Congratulations to BK and cady on another successful show. I was sorry I couldn't see it when it was in NY but it was a Monday
-
The revue sounds wonderful, and I second the query as to whether it was recorded and would be available for viewing.
-
Sitting in the waiting room
-
Vixdad took the day so he could drive me as they are supposed to dialate my eyes
-
Of course after days of gloom and clouds and rain today is bright and sunny so I am sure to be blinded once I step outside
-
I need to get me an eye exam one of these days. My previous doctor retired shortly after my last exam, and I've just been putting off the ordeal of seeking recommendations and following through on it.

Dearie.

That’s the second to the last scene. Then he leaves. We’re left with Marguerite having one final battle over her soul with Satan. She wins. I guess we don’t care about Faust’s soul. He already sold it.
-

Yup. I need to laugh, too.

It hurt last night but is ok now ;D

That's not what the original libretto says. In Germany, the opera is called Margerethe, since the Germans hated the treatment of Goethe's play.
-
My last comment on Faust is that its 19th-century bourgeois piety and religiosity too often get mocked in today's age of irony. The current videos of this opera, trash it for all its worth, and I think it's criminal. TheRoyal Opera production is particularly loathsome.
-
Congrats to MR BK & Co on their success.....and congrats to Mr. Hottie on his tour casting.....
-
I am horrified and sad at what DR jan is going through....wow! I'm going to stop complaining for awhile.
I wonder if DR JANE still has her tablet on her face?
-
DR JOHN G's list reminded me of two revenge movies I forgot about yesterday....
Seven Samurai
The Bad Sleep Well
-
Yes DR TCB that is the part I wanted.....I wouldn't have minded playing the neighbor who has some very funny lines....but this guy has two scenes and can walk away with the play.....and will......
-
My question for ASK BK DAY:
How is your road to Social Security/Medicare coming along? They will take over $100 per month from the check to pay for some of your Medicare, but it is well worth it.

I can see renaming it.

Wednesday morning greetings! Monday and Tuesday I had to be outta here to attend end-of-year luncheons for 2 of my ladies' groups, so I'm glad to have a slow morning today. The luncheons were nice, but I'm glad the 2 organizations take the summer off. I'll be busy with one of them, DAR, because I'm taking on a new role for the chapter and have a lot to learn, but no regularly-scheduled first-Tuesday meetings until October.
-
This evening Richard and I are going to Cincinnati's Christ Church Cathedral for a concert by the Men's Glee Club from The University of Michigan - Go, Blue!
-
I've missed offering vibes to a lot of people for a lot of different reasons - sorry.
Vibes for all!!!
-
I'm up, I'm up - in fact I've been more up than asleep due to tummy issues, acid reflux or whatever. There is something in the oil at Vitello's that my stomach does not like, so I have to find new things to order. I may just stick to Caesar salads, which I love there. I think maybe I got three hours of sleep.
-
And the word of the day is: BLOSSOM!
To quote a BK recording, “Lorraine, my blossom girl!”
-
Hi all. Thank you for the lovely birthday wishes. I see some of you on Facebook. I try to keep it light as I’m having some health issues and I do hate to always sound like I’m complaining. Be well all.
-
Good to see you, Danise. Vibes.

We were going to do a live recording of the revue, but it couldn't happen for this performance and so probably will not happen, at least here with this company. I'm not sure how the issues that are now in the air can be fixed. An e-mail, signed by the cast, the producer, and me, will go out in the next day or two. The crux of this has to do with last month's NY concert of this material. None of us were consulted, asked, or anything. Our structure was used - and although it would probably be denied, a good deal of it came from me (one quick example - in the original order they gave me, the opening number was what I suggested be our finale, as it didn't set up the show correctly - I suggested what should open it and that's how the show opens). Of course, I have the proof of that because I have the original proposed structure, which was not so hot. In NY, there was no rehearsal, the cast, mostly known names, read lyrics from music stands, no staging, and yet the writer was thrilled because the audience laughed and they were names (like our cast is chopped liver - not). Our producer was so angry and upset that she took him on about it and he got furious with her because she told him that it was her idea to make this into a show. His POV is that he had that idea long ago. That's all semantics, however. He may have had the idea long ago BUT it was she who made it happen , not he. She brought me in right from the start and I was part of every meeting and every decision. She found the cast - her friends and folks she'd met at Kritzerland.
And the cast learned of the NY thing (which is happening again in June) via a post on Facebook. That's just disrespectful, in my opinion. I don't think anyone would have the chutzpah to use my staging and hopefully that will remain the case. They really don't want to do that, if you get my meaning. But the right thing would have been to at least have a conversation with all of us. At least give our case the chance to go to NY on their own dime to do it (all of them would have and then they could have had a SHOW instead of a "concert" with actors reading lyrics, not knowing tunes, etc.). It really left a bad taste in everyone's mouth, frankly. And they all feel it's important for him to know how they feel. I think there's ego involved here and I'm not sure it will have any effect except further alienation. Which is a shame, because everyone worked really hard, and the result was and is a fantastic PRODUCTION with fun staging, fully directed performances, and audiences that loved every second of it. It's too bad, really, but I understand it.

Jrand, nothing has happened with the social security because it's become such a pain in the ass having to fax stuff to Experian, which I resent. The fact that social security needs some address from some credit reporting agency is ridiculous - they actually know what the address that Experian has is, but I've put in four or five addresses and none match, which is just really odd and irritating, and Experian won't give it to me or let me update it without me sending all kinds of stuff to them. I may call social security again and see what can be done.
-
The laundry is finished and all the payments went into the post. That's a big weight I'm happy to be out from under.
-
That is a pain and a hassle MR BK....but it IS your money. Yes surely someone at SS can help you.
-
That story about the NYC show is shocking and ridiculous....you and your cast/staff have every reason to be upset and angry.

Yes. Pissy thieves.

You may be feeling the effects of the Mercury-Uranus conjunction today:
Today's provocative Mercury-Uranus conjunction in determined Taurus adds electricity to romantic interactions and makes you think of all the amazing possibilities. You might very well be accused of having a one-track mind today, too, because once you get stuck on an idea, you have a hard time shaking it.
Shaking Uranus with a Mercury conjunction would need Bob Fosse choreography to be sure.

Good afternoon!

Agreed! >:(

I am horrified and sad at what DR jan is going through....wow! I'm going to stop complaining for awhile.
I wonder if DR JANE still has her tablet on her face?
I too feel bad for DR Jan. It sounds like a complicated extraction, and to have a failed first attempt-double the pain :(
LOL. I drop the tablet on my face many nights as I tend to fall asleep reading. Sometimes it is hard enough to wake me. Pressing hard on my nose like that was unusual, thank goodness ;D
-
I seem to be up early these morning and rushing all day. This morning was more medical stuff. At least I had time to go to the gym with Keith in-between our running errands.
-
Darn, I missed DR Danise. It was nice though that she saw her birthday greetings.
-
I just watched last night's episode of FOSSE/VERNON, and I have a question.
In this episode, Vernon has a b.f. named "Ron," played by Jack Lacey. He's an up-and-coming actor.
Is this character a work of fiction, or is he based on a real person?
If real, who is he supposed to be?
-
Jerry Lanning.....this article is a long walk off a short pier....but finally answers the question.....

I've been trying to shake Uranus all day.
-
Grant and I had lunch. Islands. It was good.
-
But I'm sooooo overtired.
-
Then I picked up one lonely little package, then did banking, and now I'm listening to music until the tuner gets here. Once he's through I'm going to sit on the couch and try to snooze.
-
Everyone LOVES last night's episode of of Fosse/Verdon - I wonder if I'm watching a different Fosse/Verdon than they are. At least the previously aired episodes, as much as I have issues with all of them, had a musical number or dancing or SOMETHING. Last night was all yakking all the time, ALL the characters, every one of them, was annoying and unpleasant, and while Michelle Williams sang a song at the piano, it was meaningless. Also, the portrayal of Neil Simon is laughable. As a matter of fact, so is Norbert Leo Butz's Paddy Chayefsky.
-
So far our weather is cooler than expected and I am not complaining. I am not ready for it to be in the eighties yet.
-
I would have been ready if I could have enjoyed the pool that is about to open. When the dermatologist sprayed out a pre-cancer (according to the biopsy) what looked like it was about to be cancer, she said not to go into the pool a few days without a water protective bandage. Showers are ok.
Turns out I don't really have the free time to use the pool anyway, oh well. Maybe next week.

I wanna see High Button Shoes.

Papa, won’t you dance with me?

I finally settled on a new pair of glasses.
-
I usually find it difficult to decide on a pair of glasses. You would think it would be easier since my selection is limited since I need a small frame.
-
I finally settled on a new pair of glasses.
Cool! Please take a picture when you get them!
-
Hello, everyone.
-
MEGA DENTAL VIBES to DR jan!
I concur with the recommendation to have someone drive you. In fact, I suspect that the oral surgeon's office may require it.
-
I finally settled on a new pair of glasses.
WHAT?!! You're giving up the while shades?!
-

A friend who also needs a small frame says that she finds a good selection at JC Penneys. I think she shops their children's section. She's not as small as you, either; in fact, she's not a small person. She just needs a small frame.
-
I hope that Vixmom's doctor visit went well.
-
I'd love to see the revue. Bruce, is there no plan for a longer run? Apart from the recent brouhaha.
-
Now that is an interesting word!

Yesterday's TOD:
My favorite revenge film is BEING JULIA. Many of the films listed as revenge films don't appeal to me. I'm not looking for violence, I'm looking for clever manipulation of events.

Gratuitous Post #100!
-
Just finished Widows, which was a great character study of people under pressure. Robert Duvall plays racist pigs with a little too much ease.
I could see the big plot twist coming. Didn't affect my enjoyment of the movie at all.
-
There are only some channels where this will work, though. Certainly pay channels like HBO or Showtime can't be captured the way he does it, but TCM and PBS (which are the main channels that I want programs from) work really well. :D
Be back later!
-
Now I'm watching Lisbon, which we've read a bit about in these pages recently.
I will say that the view from the castle on the mountaintop looks very much the same 60+ years after the movie was made.
-
I switched HMOs a year and a half ago. I'm now with United Healthcare Secure Horizons. One of the benefits is for transportation to and from medical appointments. I love this! The first year I had Medicare I had the benefit, but didn't need it. The year I had eye surgery I didn't have it and really needed it. Getting around LA in cabs and buses isn't easy to start with and not being able to see properly really adds to the difficulty. I am so glad to have the benefit again. I need it for eye exams, as I cannot drive dilated. (Some people can, amazingly.) But it's also needed for situations like DR jan's, where they may have to knock you out.
-
Time for dinner.
TTFN.
-
Dinner was quite nice. I had carne asada (a thin steak) with plenty of nopales, rice and beans and corn tortillas. The house salsas included a habanero that was really fruity and hot, too hot for the waitress (but not too hot for me).
-
Back from the neighbor’s deck - where I enjoyed two (2) delicious hamburgers washed down with about a week’s worth of Mint Juleps.
-
Thank you all for your vibes, I think I'm gonna need 'em. I called the oral surgeon's office and they will not be knocking me out, just local anesthesia. Freaking out after yesterday's 3 hour appointment that was not successful.
-

I have purchased a number of children's frames. The problem is they don't have all that much room for progressives lenses.
-
Currently I have is a small round frame I found in the men's section ;D
-
DR Jan when is your appointment? I don't think you need to be knocked out, just the local and possibly a pain pill before and after. You will feel the pressure but not any pain during the procedure.
-

Three hours is a long time. How long did the surgeon say it will take?
-
Thunderstorms predicted....but not yet.

More vibes for Jan.

Read about 50 pages in The Lost Prince, which is about Pat Conroy. I had to stop. Too depressing. Mental illness isn’t pretty.
Im less than 50 pages from the end.

I hadn't heard of this. I loved Conroy's PRINCE OF TIDES. My brother told me to read it as it really hit home for us.
-
I met Conroy for a split second as he walked through the newsroom in Florida. I hadn’t read anything of his then, but I’ve since read it all. I enjoy his work very much. He seems to have had his demons, which The Lost Prince goes into. It’s a fascinating tale of friendship among writers and families.
-
I finished it.
-
And I’m late for bed.
-
Five!
-
Good night, all.
-
Finished with my viewing. This morning my Darling Daughter sent me a text asking if I'd seen The OA - no was the answer. She wanted to know what I thought about it, so I watched episode one tonight. I have no idea how long this thing goes on, but I'm not finding it all that interesting. I do find it interesting that its star, someone I have no knowledge of whatsoever, somehow in 2016 co-created this, executive produced this, co-wrote this, and stars in this. I have to assume she had some kind of career but I've never heard the name and never seen her. I'll watch one more episode to see where it's going.
-
Grant and I had that early lunch - Islands - bacon cheeseburger and a few fries for me. I haven't eaten since so I'm just making a tiny bit of spaghetti with butter.

Does it mention his friend Doug Marlette? Doug wrote two wonderful novels "The Bridge" & "Magic Time" before dying in a car crash. It was extemely sad. I highly reccomend "The Bridge".

MEGA VIBES FOR DR JAN!
-
Thank you for the vibes, Lady Jane. My appointment tomorrow is 1PM. He said he couldn't tell how long it will be until he gets in there (as usual). Hoping he's very fast 'cause I'm just gonna want to go home and lie down.
-
He did say to eat a lot before since I can't eat for several hours after.
-
Good evening.
-
Getting warmer around here.
-
Mid-seventies today, possibly 80’s by tomorrow.
-
We’re having a heat wave
A tropical heat wave

No one home, but me.

I'm burning a Blu-ray disc! Larry came over and showed me the steps to record from my DVR to my Windows XP computer. Specifically, the process only works on Windows XP computers from older model DVRs (where you can record only two programs at once) using a firewire cable. He found that once you upgrade to Comcast's new Xfinity (four recordings at once), it's not posdible to do this. I'm SO glad that both my DVRs are the older model, and that these actually still work with Comcast's upgraded lines. :D
