Well, you've read the notes, the notes went astray, and now it is time for you to post until the astray cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: EXPATIATE!
-
First post after BK!

When I was growing up, my sister and I had a book, Hilda Boswell's Treasury of Children's Stories (https://www.ebay.com/itm/Hilda-Boswells-Treasury-of-Childrens-Stories-1970s-Hardcover-Illustrated/254200112496) (this eBay listing has a picture of the table of contents). I just loved reading the stories and looking at the pictures. :)

I just noticed that this has a story from The Arabian Nights, BK.
-
My favorites were "The Story of Fairyfoot" and "Through the Fire."
-
Well, I need to get going. My computer needs to restart so that it can be updated, so I'll do that. It'll probably take a little while, so I'm off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Congrats to vixmom!
-
Good morning, all!

The cat saga continues. Stella ate all of her salmon, but even when I moved their food bowls, Thatch and Annabelle ate little. I let Stella out of her cage and she wandered into the bathroom, followed by curious Annabelle. As soon as Annabelle got too close, Stella snarled and hissed and Annabelle panicked, jumped onto the toilet seat and ran. Later, Stella ran into Thatch on the window, and there was no confrontation; he simply ran away.
-
Thatch did come back and sleep with me most of the night, so that made me very happy. Annabelle arrived around 4:30 to crawl under the blankets for warmth. It's mighty chilly these days. Where did Spring go?
-
The best news is that all of my major bills from my financial crunch are paid off. The last two checks just cleared my bank this morning. I'm happy that hurdle is over.
-
I did not hear from Rob Berman yesterday, so I'm hoping I do today. I've got another Moross score to finish up this week to send to my copyist Scott this weekend.
-
Good morning to all

TOD
I loved the Wonderful Wizard of Oz and Alice In Wonderland. I had both on record and I would listen to them and follow them with the books.
-
Regarding Louis de Funes he only had one movie that crossed over into North America. It was The Adventures of Rabbi Jacob. His other films were “too French “ and didn’t work here. I did see some of his other films when I lived in Montreal, but they were never released in an English dubbed or subtitle.
-
Good morning!
-
Good morning all
-
I had a wonderful story book called Tales of All Lands as I recall. My grandmother gave it to me when I was5. I still may have it around somewhere
-
Well off to work

Vibes for all y'all
-
Vibes for all y'all
And to you, DR vixmom.
-
Annabelle continues to approach Stella's cage to investigate. Thatch prefers to observe her from across the room.
-
At the moment, Stella is playing with a catnip mouse and blissfully stoned.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Thank for you the photographic evidence, BK.
I'm always pleased to find that Astro Burger hasn't substantially changed over the years. When I knew it, that interior was definitely older and plainer, nothing really modern about it then, but their modernizing and general brightening up has never altered the character and feel of the place. Kudos to them for that.
-
I just saw Thatch walk from the bathroom, dart past Stella and run to my bed. That means he's gone to the litter box, thank God. I've been worried about his bowels since I'd seen no sign that he was crossing Stella's path to use it in the past two days.
-
Is Stella's cage sitting where Thatch's was?

Yes. It's a smaller cage than Thatch's.
-
DR Jan I am pleased you are continuing to heal. I enjoyed your possum stories.
-
My favorite standalone children's books were the original Madeline and The Little Red Lighthouse and the Great Gray Bridge. But my sister and I liked all the standard fairy tales. The books I always remembered for their illustrations were the classic Grosset & Dunlap editions of Grimms' and Andersen's. And Alice in Wonderland with the classic Sir John Tenniel illustrations.
-
We also loved The Wind in the Willows with the classic illustrations. And lord help me, another favorite story was Little Black Sambo!
I keep referencing illustrations, but they were such a huge part of how we processed these things. I do love seeing the original ones I grew up on.
-
I tried to resist crossing over into music, but it's just part and parcel of all this. A hugely favorite book of ours was the Golden Song Book, and our original copy probably looked far worse than this one before we were done with it. I think we had that thing from the very beginning until I was ten or eleven. Haven't looked inside of a copy in all of these years, and I should do that sometime.
-

As a child, my favorite books were the Little Golden Books based on Disney films, but by fourth grade I had discovered Greek mythology and Homer's epics. I read children's editions of The Iliad and Odyssey over and over, along with Nathaniel Hawthorne's Wonder Book and Tanglewood Tales.
I never read The Wind In The Willows or the Pooh books until I was in grad school, and they've become some of my favorite books. The Wind In The willows, The House At Pooh Corner, and Charlotte's Web can still reduce me to tears.
-
I've heard from Rob and we begin this afternoon.
-
To this day I have never read a Pooh book.
Certain childhood things just flew right by me, Pooh and Sesame Street being major examples.
Of course the latter wasn't childhood for me, but I literally never gave it a moment of attention. However much or little I know about it is due only to having done Avenue Q.

Good morning, all.

We need some Dame Edna and her Possums!

TOD:
Bartholomew and the Ooblick
The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins
The Wizard of Oz and any of the sequels I could get my hands on.
An ancient German version of Grimm’s fairy tales with really interesting four-color plates throughout.

I never read the books either. I went to a show once where an actor had all of the Pooh books memorized. He would recite two, whichever the audience wanted to hear. It was called Oh, Bother! And it was charming.

The House At Pooh Corner, about growing up and putting aside your toys and childhood, is heartbreaking, and who could resist "Disobedience," one of my favorite Milne poems?

My possum story:
I was driving and came up over a hill. A possum looked at me.....I think I was the last thing he saw....
The End.
-
There is NO parakeet basketball game within 20 miles of my house....so I ordered one online.....
I bought a mirror with an abacus to hold us over. It is being ignored.

Yes - I wanted Vitello's for that day for my one man cabaret show. I am working on the tracks now.
I think I will just use a CD Player and if a song starts that I don't want to sing, I'll just skip it.
And I think I'll use tracks with lyrics just in case I forget some of them.
It's called An Evening To Remember.....and I am part of the Lunatic Fringe.
-
Oh, it's a $75 cover.
-
My possum story:
I was living in Florida and had a sliding glass door with screen in my bedroom. The screen was closed but the door was open. A family of possums scratched through the screen and crawled in under my bed. I think I woke up in the middle of things and managed to shoo them out the door. I just realized that they were probably trying to hide from the bobcat that lived in the vacant lot next door.

Stella is fierce. While I was juggling the cage door and her dinner, she escaped and ran past me. I put the food in the cage and got up off the floor to find her. A stampede of Annabelle and Thatch, pursued by Stella, ran past me from the bathroom. A & T sought refuge on the windowsill, and Stella got sidetracked by one of Thatch's toys. She played with that for a bit, then she climbed the cat tree. She ate her dinner - Fancy Feast kitten salmon paté - then ate some of the chicken and liver for A & T. Annabelle ate and Thatch did not. I'll feed him later tonight. I can't let my baby go to bed hungry.
-
If Stella had been a male tuxedo, I might have named him Figaro.

I want to read the book DR DRUXY talked about.

Hopefully the bird basketball goal ordered online will be here in a few days.....until then my life will be a living hell....

When we lived in Germany, my sister and I had a few "when you hear the bell, turn the page"-type read-along books with records. We actually had one that was "Little Brave Sambo." ::)
-
TOD Pooh, Nancy Drew, Hardy boys (from my brother), Books from my mothers childhood, Brighty of Grand Canyon about a grand canyon donkey. Pretty much anything I could get my hands on. I would leave the library with armloads of books when I was 7 or 8.

Hello, everyone.

I spent the morning at the dentist having my teeth cleaned, then ran errands on the way home.
Where do all the errands come from? I do as much of my shopping online as possible, so why does the errand list not get shorter???

I was so impressed with Birdy Barnum's athletic prowess that I looked at some bird toys online. I found them quite boring and I didn't see any basketball equipment at all. But, then again, I'm not a bird.

I have an issue at work with the Children's Choir director. She really needs to retire, and she's been asking for a raise. The Pastor put me in charge of figuring that out. When I created a job description for the job and had the Pastor review it, he said "This is great, now find someone that can do it" After many years knowing and working with the person, the Pastor has finally figured out that she needs to go. Trying to find someone that would be able to do the job as I'd like it done will be difficult
-
Good luck with that, Matthew. It's not easy.

I know it's not ask BK day but I was wondering something
-
When someone produces a cast album, who pays the musicuans, the singers, the recording costs etc?
-
What a charming love story. And I don't know if I've ever seen Deborah Kerr looking so young.
-
does the recording company bear all the expense and keep all the profits or do the play producers bear all the expense and get a cut of the profits to defray expense (I assume here that the recording company controls the profit share but what do I know?)
-
Good night, all.
-
Nothing, I know nothing

That's why I asked

Speaking of charming love stories,Congratulations to your parents on their 64th anniversary
-
Where have I been all day?
-
Well, I'll tell you.
-
I had a long meeting at the Autry about the September film music concert. We have a new musical director and a choral director as well, and unfortunately our producer met them without me in tow so I had to alert the media about who was in charge. Thankfully, that happened very quickly when the choral gal who books those people came on with a bit of attitude and asked me, "What do you have to do with this?" I responded, "I AM this." I informed her that I was the show's director and that everything gets funneled through me. I had her in my pocket in about thirty seconds. The MD arrived, but he was so happy there was someone there who knew what was what and so we got along from the first moment. We're having a drummer for this show and I asked him who he was thinking about, he mentioned the name, and I said, "Oh, great, he's a friend and I've used him a lot." From there everything went swimmingly and we all laughed a lot and there was no tension whatsoever and now everyone is on the same page and the MD knows and is happy that I get involved in the arrangements of the music. I decided not to eat there.
-
I didn't get out of there until after four, then I went straight to the mail place and picked up a couple of packages, then went to Taco Bell and got dinner, brought it home and ate it.
-
I listened to music whilst answering a ton of e-mails, proofing things, choosing songs - it just never stopped, really. And of course this Mac Mail thing is still completely screwed up, not synching and it's going to give me a damn heart attack if I let it continue, so as soon as I'm up in the morning I'll call Apple Support, get a Mac Mail expert on the phone and solve this damn thing once and for all. It's just trying to do all these things that are freezing the mail program - and it shouldn't be doing any of them - that's all supposed to happen automatically but it keeps doing the same tasks over and over again and never actually completes them. And we have to fix the synching problem right now. So, that will be morning.
