Well, you've read the notes, the notes were both a hothouse and a conundrum, and now it is time for you to post until the hothouse cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: UNDERGIRD!
-
UNDERPANTS!
-
First post after UNDERPANTS!
;)
-
Topic of the Day:
Home made: grilled cheese
Restaurant: Pellegrino's, a local place, has a fantastic Monte Cristo; and Red Wagon, also local, has a really good club sandwich.
-
Eddie Izzard is the other guest with Sutton Foster on James Corden. I saw him live in Seattle about 15 or so years ago. He was hysterical!
-
Well, it's time for bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all.
-
I love a good grilled cheese stuffed with brisket and a four-cheese on baguette grilled over an open flame.
-
But my favorite may be ham and Swiss with butter, maybe a little onion, roasted red pepper and salt.
-
Sadly, sandwiches are becoming a big no-no because of the carbs in the bread. And I’m not into thinking that a lettuce-wrapped item is really a sandwich. It’s salad you can pick up.
-
Good morning!
-
Have to get ready for my 10 am dental appointment.
-
Good morning, all!
-
And one from me.
Good morning, all.
-
Dental vibes for KevinH.

Awnings on chicken coops, water in the oil in the car, hair down to the shoulders, training, baseball games.....HHW is the place to be for information.
-
Dead tired here, but what else is new. Another late night, another early morning.
This morning I must transfer any markings I want from the regular keyboardist’s book to mine, and then of course keep working on it, and then get it back down there before show time.
If there’s a seat available, I’ll watch the show. Which would be a good thing to do. But if not, that’s cool, I’m coming back home to get some rest.

Kathleen Turner has been described as a hellion to deal with, yet John Waters describes her as pleasant to deal with on Serial Mom. Perhaps Waters should direct Faye Dunaway.

Our reading went well.....I don't think many of the people - with the exception of "Millie" had read the script....there were laughs and tears....
Tonight is HAL night, so we shall see.
DR ELMORE asked where I found him.....well another board member who is working on SHREK has been directing the plays and musicals at a local high school for several years. I asked him if he knew any potential HALS.
He said yes and telephone a young man who graduated last year....not idea in age....but hopefully he will do. On inquiry, everyone is of the opinion that he is a nice guy. BUT he can't dance. Well, of course neither could Kim Novak or William Holden...
-
Time will tell.
-
Miss Dunaway is in Europe and cannot comment.....as DR FJL and MR BK reported last night.

I guess they don’t yet have transatlantic phone service, or that newfangled thing called the Internet, in Europe.
-
Obviously not DR CHAS SMITH.....

Here I am from last night with my Mrs. Potts and Christine Schoenwalder...

T.O.D.
I love the roast beef sandwich served at Schlotsky's.
-
Oh.....and found left in the Men's Dressing Room.....the signed and framed photo of the cast and the gift that we gave to the director of SEND ME NO FLOWERS.....at least it wasn't in the trash can.
-
I like a good double cheeseburger.....I think the WHOPPER is my favorite.
I used to like the Brawny Lad at Frisch's Big Boy....but it is no longer around....
-
Sadly, sandwiches are becoming a big no-no because of the carbs in the bread. And I’m not into thinking that a lettuce-wrapped item is really a sandwich. It’s salad you can pick up.
I usually combine 2 halves of a sandwich into one to eat less bread. If I have a veggie burger I try to eat even less of the bun.

Did someone offer to take it to him?
-
Nice photo DR Jrand.
-
We should have asked DR Jan how long she would be gone. I hope she is having a great time in Utah.
-
DR George thank you for offering to contact DR TCB.
-
I used to like the Brawny Lad at Frisch's Big Boy....but it is no longer around....
You mean Frisch's is no longer around in your area, or the Brawny Lad isn't?
I liked those, too, but I had one just a couple of years ago in Cincinnati where there's a Frisch's on every block.

OMG! That payment from Ireland's RTÉ finally arrived today as a wire transfer.
-
Well, some Russians cracked all five security questions and mass-registered here at HHW - or attempted to - they are all nuked and two of the questions have been changed and if they crack those, I will make it really obscure.

Hello, everyone.

Today was Car Day. My car needed to go in for service, an oil change for sure, but also maybe a tune-up. There's a little vegan restaurant around the corner, only so-so IMO, but comfortable and air-conditioned and a good place for me to hang out while the car is serviced. i dropped the car off early and ordered breakfast, expecting to be camped out there a while and eating lunch there as well. However, I lucked out. The car needed only the oil change and I was "released" after breakfast. Yay!
-
I brought reading material--no wifi, to my surprise--but what was surprising is how many take-out orders this LITTLE restaurant was putting out. I watched one delivery person after another show up with their large, insulated bags. 15-20 meals at a time! There were at least FOUR delivery people, and this started at 9:15 am and kept going until I left 1 1/2 hours later. I asked one delivery woman if this was typical. She said this (20+) was actually a rather small order, that they often serve 200! They have a deal with a number of corporations, including Netflix, so that employees don't have to leave their desks to eat. I saw only one person in the kitchen and one waitress. There was one other customer in the restaurant. I'm amazed they could turn out that much food.

Nice photo, Jrand. Your weight loss is more apparent in this photo. Congrats!

Wow. We've certainly heard lots about Russian interference, but HHW! Should we be honored? What told you they were Russian?

Hoo and Ray!!

I just got back from Meconi's Italian Subs (http://www.meconissubs.com/). I didn't have my usual Combo, but instead had the Egg Salad. It was quite delish...and even the half-size was HUGE. I'm definitely full.
-
I actually got a whole sandwich and saved the other half for tonight's dinner. I'm sure it'll still be good by then. :)
-
THANKS for the nice comments on the photo.
No, no one offered to take it to him.....I think I'll give it to the guy who played the Doctor in the show.....or maybe it will just disappear.

DR CHAS SMITH I will have to do some research and see if Frisch's is still around in my area....

Very much so. My doctors never are so I went to an independent lab & had a 3 month glucose test run. It showed that I am pre-diabetic. Even after showing the test to my endocrinologist she wasn't overly concerned & said we will check it next year. I plan to re-check it in September & find out if my slightly improved consumption of sugar has made a difference.
You mentioned my weight. Well.....being extra good this last week I lost a bit of weight I would not normally have lost. Today I am eating more.

Yes, I often feel that my doctors don't set the bar high enough. Maybe they see so many people in really bad shape that they become somewhat indifferent.
I think you did the right thing. I often have tests done through the Life Extension Foundation. I order them online, they send me a requisition, and I have the blood draw done locally through Labcorp. It's easy and the format of the results is very user-friendly. When I was with UCLA I was surprised to learn that UCLA didn't even offer many of the tests I was interested in--getting approval would have been another issue. With Life Extension (or other online lab) if I want the test I can have it, provided I can pay for it. Patient empowerment. They also have health advisors you can call if you need help understanding the test results--at no cost.

DR CHAS SMITH I will have to do some research and see if Frisch's is still around in my area....
There were a couple of Frisch's in Middletown, one out by I-75, but DR Ginny will have to confirm they still exist.

Stella has learned that when the doorbell rings, it means I may open the apartment door. She moves immediately to the door and prepares to race into the hall as soon as I do.

Today I put her on my shoulders and took her to the basement with me. She had a good time.

Re the AC:
I have just a window unit. The compressor comes on, then goes off, comes on, then goes off. It's noisy. I don't mind during the day, but at night it disturbs my sleep. I turn the AC on in the evening as soon as it starts to get too warm, then turn it off just before I go to bed, but leave the fans on, since they are quieter. That works well unless it's really hot.
Bruce, you might want to consider a ceiling fan. I know people without AC who say they really help.
-
I will be off in a tick to meet with the HAL - Hal Carter NOT the HAL 6000 computer.
I hope it works out. We want photos.

That is who we are using for the tests.
I have been reducing my sugar slowly. I need to track if it makes a difference. I read where Tom Hank's doctor said his high glucose had turned into diabetes. I wondered if any effort had been made to prevent that from happening.

Second day of training is over. It was as useful as the first.
-
Lunch was not for me. Candy-coated carbs in the form of pad Thai and chicken fried rice. I had a boring salad without dressing, which looked like some sick Chinese restaurant's Day-Glo version of sweet and sour sauce in a neon pink color.
-
Jeanne, the addresses were all .ru.
-
Back from a chili, cheese, and onion hot dog, picking up a package, banking, and then a trip to Jiffy Lube. The motor car, which seemed to be doing okay, began stalling out as I left the mail place. I went to the bank - it stalled out once just before I got there. Then I headed to Jiffy Lube, about a mile-and-a-half from there. It kept almost stalling, but I managed to get to Hazeltine and turn right, at which point it stalled and wouldn't start, but thankfully I had enough momentum to turn left (and nice people let me through) into the Jiffy Lube - pretty good timing. They drained the oil/water, and put new oil in. They warned me it still might not start as the water might have gotten into other things - the engineer or other parts of the system. Thankfully, it started, and while it's making a bit of noise, the hope is whatever residual water is there will just flush itself out. However, if it seems wonky tomorrow, I'll take it in and have it all flushed out. Hoping I don't have to do that. This was already seventy-nine bucks I didn't need to spend.
-
Now I'm listening to music. I just proofed the commentary for the Kritzerland show and finessed it, so that's done.

Back from a chili, cheese, and onion hot dog,
Gimme

To bad they don't tell you ahead of time what the food will be. You could have packed a lunch.

Thanks. I also wondered.

DR Laura did you see the photo of mold in the baby food pouch of applesauce?
-
I ate too much and feel very uncomfortable. I will have to go for a walk and settle my stomach.

One thing I have given up is wine with my dinner at night. I never had much, just enough to help me digest my food. I still have it if we eat out.

Yes, DR Elmore, we still have 2 Frisch’s - the one out by I-75 and the other on Germantown Road by the airport.

Bruce, you might want to consider a ceiling fan. I know people without AC who say they really help.
I have a ceiling fan in my TV room, below the loft where I sleep. I keep that fan on 24 hours a day, 356 days a year. In the winter, I have it blow the warm air down, and in the summer I have the air flowing up so that it creates a breeze over my bed and out my skylight. I can't imagine having a tall house like mine without it.
-
We have had ceiling fans. I don't recall using them in the winter to blow the heat down.
-
I feel better after our walk. We hadn't planned to go out tonight since it is 90 degrees. The humidity isn't bad at 22%.
-
I might do a walk again this evening. Like right about now.
-
Good evening.
-
Well, I need to leave work, go home, eat the other half of my egg salad sub sandwich, and then balance my checkbook. Maybe I'll do a load of laundry. We'll see how I feel about that. ;)
Be back later.
-
Pretty kitty, Laura.
-
Well, I need to leave work, go home, eat the other half of my egg salad sub sandwich, ...
Gimme.
-
I'm obviously hungry today.
-
My favorite sandwich us the one I make thanksgiving evening and/or the day after Thanksgiving
Especially nice on Panera honey oat bread
Spread some cold gravy on two slices of bread
Layer on some sliced cold turkey breast
Spread cranberry sauce on top of turkey
Stack some cold stuffing on top of that
Close sandwich
Eat
-
You can also make it hot
-
Some like it hot
-
Some like it cold
-
Some like it in the pot
-
Nine days old
-
Oh wait, I'm mixing that up with pease porridge
-
My pease porridge is particularly nice
-
She said humbly and with self effacing charm
-
It's never lasted 9 days
-
Cause we eat it all up
-
But it must be made from the Christmas ham
-
When I was pregnant with the Vixter I became addicted to a sandwich made by Ivarrone Brothers, the Italian deli across from the office
-
Hot,thinly sliced, lean, rare roast beef with muenster cheese on a freshly baked hero

Has anyone heard from TCB?
-
I've been asking about TCB since last night. Very unlike him.
-
Back from a brisk two-and-a-half mile walk, which was lovely until the very end. I was on Woodman, crossing the street to then go west for the final two blocks. I left the crosswalk just before the halfway point because the sidewalk is almost non-existent at the corner. As I do, this car comes roaring and turning right and if I don't move fast I'm dead. So, I yelled "Slow down, jerk!" Jerk slams on his breaks because jerks like to double down on their jerkiness, rolls down the passenger window, flips me off and yells, "You wen't in the crosswalk!" I got my phone out, then said, "Listen, a-hole (I said the whole word, of course), had I been in the crosswalk I'd be under the wheels of your car right now. This isn't the freeway, it's a family neighborhood, where people walk with their kids and pets and you don't need to speed here." He started yelling again and I told him I was calling the cops - I walked around to the rear of his car to snap his license - and what does Mr. Jerk do? Guns his car and speeds off before I can get the plate.
-
Had a tuna sandwich before doing the walk. I think I walked off anything that would have done harm, calorie-wise.

I got my phone out, then said, "Listen, a-hole (I said the whole word, of course), had I been in the crosswalk I'd be under the wheels of your car right now.
Most charming.

I love this comment from the Moulin Rouge review in the Guardian:
About that duke: (Tam) Mutu is a charismatic actor and his scenes with Olivo are taut and charged. Tveit, a handsome face attached to a rich lyric tenor, has by contrast all the sexual charisma of a baked potato. His scenes with Olivo seem friendly, nothing more. He wants them to run off together – and what? Have a picnic?

Tam Mutu gave a great performance in The New Yorkers.

Good night, all.

Hopefully DR TCB will show up tonight.
-
If not, hopefully DR George will have contacted TCB and will let us know everything is ok.
-
Good evening.
-
At least we are on page five.
-
My favorite sandwich us the one I make thanksgiving evening and/or the day after Thanksgiving
Especially nice on Panera honey oat bread
Spread some cold gravy on two slices of bread
Layer on some sliced cold turkey breast
Spread cranberry sauce on top of turkey
Stack some cold stuffing on top of that
Close sandwich
Eat
That sandwich sounds great if you leave off the cranberry junk!
-
Um, you got some 'splainin' to do, my friend.
-
Why did I bother to text George back at 4:30, if he wasn’t going to pass on that I was fine?
-
My apologies for missing one evening this year.
-
I will be back more tomorrow.
-
Good night.
-
Well, I need to leave work, go home, eat the other half of my egg salad sub sandwich, ...
Gimme.
Sorry...it's all gone. ;)

Oh, my! ::)

I thought Aaron Tveit was very good in Catch Me If You Can in Seattle...but then I don't think he had any "romantic" scenes.

He was very good in The Secret Garden, also in Seattle.

Yes, we all wanted to know if you, TCB, were fine. That means that people care about you.
