Well, you've read the notes, the notes were Viennese and waltzed, and now it is time for you to post until the waltzing cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: TEKNONYMY!
-
First post after BK.
-
Who the Hell were those other two guys?
-
And whose idea was it, to let them “dance?”
-
And whose idea was it, to let them “dance?”
Maybe it was a contractual requirement...actual dancing talent be damned. ;)
-
I think I will go and recharge my battery.
-
Good night.
-
But I did love “I Write The Songs.”
-
But I did love “I Write The Songs.”
So did I. Those were some fun videos, BK.
-
Good night, Tom.
-
And now, I'm off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
That's why I was brought into the show at the last minute - because they realized that the three guys could not play sketch comedy or do musical numbers.
-
I enjoyed those videos!
-
I have gave a vague recollection of seeing them when they were originally broadcast, what year was that?
-
Well speaking of battery charging I didn't charge my iPad and its down to 4%
-
And I didn't get enough sleep
-
I wasup until2 and then just as I was drifting off around 2:30 some nut was pounding on my door but of course I didn't get up to answer....( but I would have sworn I heard a scooter motor.....)
-
Well time to shower and dress
-
Have a good day all
-
Good morning, all.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Jeanne, I have no idea on a processed balsamic dressing. I don’t often use it. It’s just a little too sweet for my taste. I like more acidic dressings than most. At a local dinner with really bad oil, I only use vinegar on the salads. And it’s a red vinegar (I won’t go so far as to say red wine vinegar).
-
Another day of nothing.
-
Another day of nothing.
Something vibes for Elmore and all of us.
-
Good morning!
-
DR TCB: Billi Jean Smith!
-
Thanks for the good wishes, DR Jane!
-
I enjoyed the videos, BK!
-
One more...
-
Page 2!
-
Annabelle did not want to patrol this morning. I hope this is not a bad sign.
-
I think I will go and recharge my battery.
Good luck. I didn't think you were due for a new battery yet. How often do you usually replace them?
-
Tom the Walla Walla dressing is bottled with slightly different labels. When we lived in Oregon the label was different than the online store I buy it from in Washington. I don't know who actually makes it but the labele now reads Country Mercantile.
-
Feel good vibes for Annabelle.
-
Great Dinah Shore clips, BK.
-
Being without my regular Mac is Hell.
I'm working from an old Mac, and half the websites I need to get on, I can't.
:'( :'( :'(
-
Good morning, all.
-
Later than usual. Again. Because I just didn't have the get up and go earlier to get up from the recliner and go to the computer. But here I am.
-
Actually, I have little energy today because I got too little sleep. But I don't think I'd get into a nap easily, either.
-
BK will surely get the lowdown on the car today. Vibes it is decent news!
-
Hope Annabelle's feeling all right other than not wanting to patrol.
-

Sorry though I am pleased you managged to get on HHW. Are you missing passwords or are those sites simply not opening?

CONTINUED CAR VIBES FOR BRUCE!
-
Last night was Classic Tuesday at the Bedford Playhouse where we saw the best presentation ever of CHINATOWN in a new 4k scan and "print".
Had a delightful chat first with Mr. Robert Harris who was also seeing this 4k for the first time. We talked about the film for a bit, then he said the color will determine how good a job they did. If it looks cold, it's wrong. If it looks natural, it's wrong. It's got to have just the right warmth, and not too much. And guess what? It was perfect. (To my eyes it results in a sepia kind of tint. But subtle. Really beautiful. Every scene is the richer for it.) But he wasn't sure afterward that they scanned off the original negative. He had things to do so I didn't have a chance to ask more about that.
-
I must also return there to see the Tarantino this week. I've had something going on every day and evening since it opened, but I think I can finally get to it tomorrow. Totally worth it. Even with something new like that, the presentation is so much better than anywhere else.
-
The Dinah Shore videos are a gas! :)

I've heard that Hal Prince has died.

I've heard that Hal Prince has died.
Sad. Not too surprising.
-
The Post says Prince died while traveling.
-
Goodbye, Mr. Prince!
-
Congrats to DR VIXMOM on her millstone.
-
For some reason I always think Neve is a black cat until I see her picture from DR GEORGE....
-
CAR FIXED AT REASONABLE PRICE vibes for MR BK.
-
I also enjoyed the clips....especially "I Write the Songs".....
-
Wow. Long live Hal Prince.
-
Fun clips in the notes. I loved how claustrophobic the staircase became in the medley.
-
For some reason I always think Neve is a black cat until I see her picture from DR GEORGE....
Stella is the black cat. Although she prefers to be called a tuxedo cat.
-
Well, the good news is that I can pick up my How To Succeed . . . check tomorrow or Friday. The bad news is, I am unemployed and begging for work.
-
Stella!!!
More work vibes for DR ELMORE.

Late lunch due to a noon closing in the office
-
You know what makes a nice lunch?
-
Put a flour tortilla in a skillet,
spread some Braswells vidalia onion and summer tomato dressing onit.
Put two slices of muenster chees down the middle
Layer in some sliced turkey breast
Sprinkle a little Penzeys sunny Paris on there
Flip the sides up to make a wrap
(Hold it closed with a fork)
Toast it in the skillet until it's go,den brown on the bottom
Flip it and toast the other side
Eat that delicious meltiness
-
Also works with Swiss and ham
-
I suppose you vegetable murderers could make it with some steamed asparagus and mushrooms and zucchini and squash
-
Now the question is, do I make a second one or make a quick carvel run before going bsck to the office?
-
I'm up, I'm up - nine hours of sleep.
-
Vixmom - it was 1976.
-
No texts from the car service guy.
-
DR vixmom, is it raining on Long Island? It just landed here. I'd make the Carvel run.
-
Hal Prince - a prince of a Prince, a brilliant director and conceptualizer, and an absolutely down-to-earth and lovely person. We corresponded a bit, he was thrilled with the Follies remix, I know he wrote the liner notes for one of my Varese albums, and any time I'd run into him he always knew who I was. I remember even taking Daisy to dinner at Joe Allen. Don't remember why.
-
For some reason I always think Neve is a black cat until I see her picture from DR GEORGE....
Because we think of his last cat whom we saw more photos of...hint, hint DR George ;)
-
MEGA WORK VIBES FOR DR ELMORE!
-
LOL....probably so DR JANE.
MAC Vibes for DR DRUXY.
-
Today is the last day of the Mercury retrograde - so things should start shaping up nicely now.....
-
I suppose you vegetable murderers could make it with some steamed asparagus and mushrooms and zucchini and squash
If I switched out the cheese to havarti and lost the zucchini & squash.
-
Now the question is, do I make a second one or make a quick carvel run before going bsck to the office?
You are torturing me with the ease you can go to Carvel's.

My previous cat, Ebonie, was solid black. Maybe you're thinking of her?

What are your favorite scores of Hal Prince musicals?
-
Mine would have to include:
A Little Night Music
Follies
Company
She Loves Me
The Pajama Game
Kiss of the Spider Woman
On the 20th Century
Grind
Sweeney Todd
-
Four!
-
A Little Night Music
Follies
Company
She Loves Me
The Pajama Game
On the 20th Century
Sweeney Todd
I would add Pacific Overtures, Damn Yankees, Cabaret, Flora the Red Menace, New Girl In Town, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Tenderloin, West Side Story, Superman, and Fiddler on the Roof.
Baker Street is a second-rate score, but it's a guilty pleasure.

What did you have? I always get the same thing, a small soft vanilla cone. I like to buy my chocolate crunchies to go vs dipping the cone, though the cone is delicious with the chocolate crunchies.
I miss buying their cakes. I would special order a vanilla cake with double chocolate crunchies.
-
Honorable mentions:
Candide
Damn Yankees
Flora, The Red Menace
Grind
Zorba
:D
-
Part of Stella's cute little tail is not visible. I would have expect a little bit of white at the end.

My cleaning guy, Brian, came today. I really needed his help. He and his partner have purchased a home which is a 3-hour drive from here. I can't blame him for leaving LA--housing prices are outrageous. He said he'll come back one more time. I hope so! He's an excellent cleaner and really brings some muscle to the job. I'm not at all happy to lose him.
-
I am sorry you will be losing Brian. Vibes you find someone else who is just as good.
-
He paid $279,000 for a 4-bedroom, 3-bath house. You could not even buy a studio apartment for that here.
-
Thanks, Jane. It took me three years to find Brian. I can't wait that long!
-
Continued car repair vibes to BK.

TTFN.

Has anyone read The Art of Racing in the Rain? I've seen previews for the film, but I'd like to read the book.

I know. And I know the value of finding someone good.

Yes. I didn't think I would like it and was pleasantly surprised.
-
Keith's aunt kept insisting I read it. I am glad I listened.
-
Has anyone read The Art of Racing in the Rain? I've seen previews for the film, but I'd like to read the book.
I haven't read it, but early last year, a local semi-professional theater company did a stage adaptation of the book (https://harlequinproductions.org/2018/02/16/popular-novel-by-seattle-author-comes-to-life-onstage/). It was wonderful. My library quite a few years ago, chose the book to be our "Timberland Reads Together" title, where everyone in the library district (who choses to participate) reads the same book and engages in events throughout the entire five-county district, with many events including the author.
-
And now, we have another milestone to celebrate! :D
-
Congrats on your milestone, DR elmore!
-
Congratulations, Elmore. Too bad I can't say that in dollars.
-
Tonight, it's Clash by Night. Fritz Lang. Barbara Stanwyck. Marilyn Monroe. Clifford Odets.
-
Had a nice lunch at Islands - cheeseburger (smaller than they used to be - maybe that's the lunch special version) and fries - I was VERY good with the fries. I ate less than a third of what they brought, so I'm sure I'm fine calorie-wise.
-
Walked back home, ascertained the important envelope hadn't arrived, scanned some stuff courtesy of Grant, and then finally heard from the car service guy.
-
It was actually laughable - he told me it needed a new engine - 14K PLUS labor. His advice was to just get a new car. So, I'm out that $175, sadly, and with no satisfaction and now certainly no loaner. He said even rebuilt would be 10K. I mean, really. So, I had a conversation with a friend about it, discussed options, and then called a Studio City auto repair jernt that I've been to before. When I told him what the car service guy had said, HE laughed out loud. I gave him the make and model and year of the car and he'll call me tomorrow to tell me what he can do it for. If it's reasonable, I'll probably do that and have him fix the other stuff that's wrong. If not, then I'll either get a new car or a lease.

:o Oh, my goodness! My whole car cost $14K brand new...of course, that was 21 years ago. Was this all because of the water/oil issue, or more because of the age of the car?
-
Well, I'm off to see Kathy Griffin's one-night-only Docu-Comedy! I'm sure that it'll be hysterical and scary and informative and even funny, too!
Be back later with a report!
-
Congrats on your milestone, DR elmore!

Be sure to get a full copy of their diagnostic testing & results.
-
I keep thinking about Carvel's now, especially the fact that I will not be buy chocolate crunchies anymore. I should not eat sugar on top of sugar.
-
I wish I liked Clash by Night more than I do. The script has some good lines in it, but the plot is too cliched and predictable. Don't like Robert Ryan this time around (and I usually do), but the rest of the cast is really good.
-

I had a cup with soft serve, half vanilla and half snickers
-
Congratulations on your new plateau, Elmore...vibes someone showers you with a dollar for every post
-
Yuck, BK that's awful....hope the new car guy has better news
-
Listening to Bounce. It has a couple of lovely songs, but the overture seems to be better than anything. It's also easy to see why Prince couldn't handle it. The vision is too big, the story too small.
-
Congrats to DR Elmore on his fifty grand!!!
I captured the image. I’ll trim and post it when I’m on the laptop.
-
Okay, so, 14K for an engine?
Did they quote you on a Rolls Royce engine for a Boeing 757 by mistake?
-
Good evening.
-
When my husband's new truck engine melted it needed a new engine. That was about 15 or 20 grand. Luckily it was covered by warranty.
-
BK, did you tell them about the water in the oil?
-
I just found out about a cool, wonderful place in Fredericksburg up in the Hill Country. It's an elephant preserve, and they let people get up close with the elephants to wash them and give them pedicures. The photos look wonderful. I'm going to have to do this at some point.
I'm due to chair the annual rose' panels on Saturday at a winery up there, but that will take up too much time, so I can't do both.
Here's a link: www.visitthepreserve.com
-
Good night, all.
-
Yes, I told them about the water/oil, but I made clear that the car was making noises prior to that. It may have exacerbated the problem, certainly. I don't trust them at all and I wasted $175 to not trust them at all.
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
Good night John boy

It was all that and more! I don't know how many people were in the local audience, but there had to have been several dozen people. The first third or so was the docu(mentary) portion of the film. In her voice-over at the beginning, she apologized for the low visual quality because she and her boyfriend originally just filmed all that on their phones for themselves.
-
The comedy portion of the film was pretty much a shortened version of the show that I saw in Seattle last year. It had mostly stuff about the Donald (as she calls him), but there was enough other material to keep everyone interested. I really hope that it gets a DVD/Blu-ray release...AND an Oscar nomination. ;D
-
If it is ever released on either physical or steaming options, I highly recommend it...but, of course, I'm already a fan!
-
It was very funny, but throughout the whole film, she talks about everything that happened to her (even though she broke NO laws and the picture), and no matter how you feel about it, the picture is totally covered under the first amendment.
-
Good evening.
