Well, you've read the notes, the notes gave you a charge, and now it is time for you to post until the charged cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SUBITIZE!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I decided to stay up after feeding the cats. Annabelle and I will patrol soon.
-
I'm attending a reading of a new musical today at noon. I hope I see a few friends there, and I hope it's good!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Thank you, TCB. Yes, it was Death on the Nile.
-
TOD:
Percy Faith’s takes on Do I Hear a Waltz and Kismet.
-
I went to take care of the litter and found little white footsteps all over the floor. Stella got into the bag of pesticide, tore it open and dry white powder was an inch deep all over hrte bathroom floor and her. I got the vacuum and got up what I could, thenm mopped the floor. I took Miss Stella and, holding tight, held her under the bathtub faucet till she was completely washed off. She is not happy, but neither am I.
-
The pesticide is supposedly pet safe, but I don't want her ingesting all that crap.
-
Poor Stella....Annabelle needs to teach her how to read.
-
DR JANE yes one of them IS the director of record.
No we won't be sending a letter to them. Why give them something to wave around and show how they have been victimized. My guess is that sooner or later one or both will try to do another show here....but they will not get the opportunity.
I close the iron door on you.....
-
DR GEORGE I think Don Lockwood said: "Dignity always dignity...."
-
I have been to TWO places trying to get my oil changed.....45 minute wait at the first place....one hour wait at the second place....I passed.....on both.
-
TOD:
Oscar Peterson West Side Story
There was some company that produced records that I think were mostly overtures or mash ups as they say nowadays....
Forty nine cents.....I had My Fair Lady/South Pacific and Oklahoma!/Kiss Me Kate....
I may still have a couple of them....nice orchestras.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Poor Stella....Annabelle needs to teach her how to read.
I have to keep reminding myself, she's a kitten! I can't punish her for being exactly what she is. I should have put it in the cabinet under the kitchen sink, and I do not know at this moment why the hell I didn't think about that.
-
I just mopped the bathroom and kitchen floors again. In another fifteen minutes I will vacuum again. I don't think it's fair to the neighbors to vacuum before 9:00, but I was sure raising a racket at 8:30 today. I'll empty the bag as well. I will probably end up covered in pesticide.
-
Things were going so smoothly at 7:00!
-
Sounds like you got things under control there, DR Elmore.
I know how scary it is when you think they could be in danger of ingesting something bad. I wouldn't even have known there were such things as pet-safe pesticides, and I must remember that.
-
My appreciation for Broadway show covers never really took off till thirty years ago when I was actively collecting records and I was getting all kinds of recommendations on certain high quality must-have albums which included jazz and other covers.
I began with the WEST SIDE STORY ones, and Stan Kenton's album was my first of those. And as I typed that I remembered where I bought it: at a secondhand record store in Santa Monica called Odyssey which I'm thinking was on Wilshire. That rendition was a fine kickoff and my next WSS ones were the Oscar Peterson and the Andre Previn/Shelley Manne. I then branched out to more shows by Previn/Manne and a couple of Percy Faith ones, and I guess I was off and running.
I later acquired many of the ones BK issued on CD. For someone who grew up on just cast albums and soundtrack albums for the most part, it's been a fun new avenue of exploration and appreciation.

I'm not sure I will get to that reading at noon. I'm more concerned with the mess and the cats at the moment. I'll give it another hour. I need to do laundry to clean up the bathroom rug, and that's two hours out of my day.
-
I put the laundry in the washers, came up, and sent the producer of the reading my regrets. He's got a reading of a musical tomorrow that I'm attending, so I told him I would see him then.
-
The pesticide is supposedly pet safe, but I don't want her ingesting all that crap.
Stay well vibes for Stella!

Shocking possible news from DR TCB last night. Would she really move in with you and 2 dogs? What about Nicky?

Goodness, they don't need letters.

It is very scary.
I learned about the pet safe product this summer when it was needed in a planter in our building atrium.
-
I changed clothes and put the ones I had been wearing into the washers with the other things going through a second wash. When this is all finished. I need to clean the space under my bed.
-
One more will take us to page 2.
-
Page 2 Dance!
-
I love this cat trepak. It reminds me of Thatch in his ninja poses.
-
:D
-
Jerome Kern has arrived in Indiana - he is probably not amused.
-
I finished my work on the computer and went back to my regular oil change place. It was a 35 minute wait - but I wanted to get it done today.....so it is.
-
I think Stella has forgiven me for the outrages she was put through.
-
I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep.
-
Jrand, I think those mash-up albums were on Time, if I'm remembering correctly.
-
I think Stella has forgiven me for the outrages she was put through.
Of course she has.

I just put up two new perks that I haven't announced yet and won't until a few hours from now - might want to check them out - one is a lot of four scripts from The Faculty. This is an amazing lot and it's really cheap for what you get. And what you get is the never-before-seen original script David Wechter and I wrote for the film, the one Miramax optioned. Then you get Kevin Williamson's first draft rewrite, where we're still the credited writers on the title page, which is followed by "rewritten by Kevin Williamson". Then you get a second draft, where they've stupidly changed the title to The Feelers and no mention of the original writers. Then a shooting script, which is titled UNTITLED Rodriquez/Williamson project, which also carries no credit to the original writers. This shooting script, like most, has white, pink, green, yellow, and blue rewrite pages throughout.
A fascinating journey through the process of how scripts evolve. David and I, while we enjoy the film and what he did with it, have always preferred ours for many reasons. See if you agree.
-
Second new perk (well, there are others from the weekend you should check out, too) is a real rarity - a copy of 103 Lyrics by Cole Porter. The book itself is hard to find in decent collector condition, but this copy is signed by Mr. Porter and not only that, it's signed to Mike Connolly, who was a hugely popular and powerful gossip columnist for the Hollywood Reporter, and he also co-wrote Lillian Roth's autobiography, I'll Cry Tomorrow - a great association copy in lovely condition and priced way below what signed books by Porter go for. Check it out. Obviously there's only one available and that goes for the lot of four scripts, too.
-
Yep.
-
DR GEORGE I think Don Lockwood said: "Dignity always dignity...."
That's it! I didn't look it up. I should've and should've said, "to paraphrase Don Lockwood..." ;)
-
I have been to TWO places trying to get my oil changed.....45 minute wait at the first place....one hour wait at the second place....I passed.....on both.
That's too bad. I've always gotten right in at my local Jiffy Lube. :-\
-
Guess I'll go see if there's mail and think about the food thing.
-
Wish I had the money for the Porter book. I hope he goes to a worthy home.
-
DR Jane if you get a lot of migraines and headaches then get an ereader and not a tablet. They are so much better. Whatever is similar to a kindle paperwhite is what is made for reading. I get a lot of headaches and have never gotten one reading on my kindle.
-
I had to sort my mail and pay a few bills. Before I knew it, my writing table was invaded by three cats, all wanting to help me. Thatch checked out the scene and left, Stella looked over the music on the shelves behind the table, and Annabelle lay on top of my bills and envelopes.

Just like JB.
-
I'm off soon to a CABARET rehearsal. Tonight it's me, the Kit Kat Girls, and Sally.
-
If I'm working on something at the keyboard and it's within an hour of feeding time, I get help from Poe in figuring out which notes to play.

Ditto and ditto!

Jerome Kern Revisited, Vol. II (http://www.kritzerland.com/kern_rev_v2.htm) and Dementia (http://www.kritzerland.com/dementia.htm) have arrived in Tumwater!

Thank you for the suggestion. I will look at them again. You can only read on them, right? If so that would mean I would not have access to the internet at night or if we are traveling.
-
Keith was asking me why I don't get an HD Fire Kindle. I prefer checking out books from the library on ePub vs Kindle, plus there seem to be more books available on ePub. I also prefer reading purchased books on Barnes & Noble vs Kindle.
-
Back to my research and I expect there will be another trip to Best Buy.
-
Jane, most (if not all) e-readers like the Kindle can access the internet. You can't add apps like the Kindle Fire (it's more of a tablet with the shiny screen) or other tablets, but you can order books through the Kindles.
-

BK, I don't know if anyone knew about this, but I went to Kritzerland's Jerome Kern Revisited, Vol. II (http://www.kritzerland.com/kern_rev_v2.htm) page and when I click on the cover for the enlarged version, the cover for Dementia came up instead. :-\
-
When I clicked on Dementia's image, that was correct.
-
Also, Too Many Girls (http://www.kritzerland.com/too_many_girls.htm) doesn't have an enlarged version, at all.
-
3!!!
-
I have alerted the media about the cover issues. He'll fix tonight, I'm sure.

Can I download the books with ePub on Overdrive?
It sounds like I would not have Goodreads or Facebook but might get HHW.

The Washington Post has just picked up the story of the shootout at the Walmart in Tumwater. Scary, scary story.
-
Finishing up Twelfth Night. I just love this play.
-
I have basically started teaching a new couple at Joy's Monday night classes. It's interesting. I've never taught before. So, I have to choose my words carefully to make sure they both understand, and then watch them do it. I often have to dance both parts shifting from leader to follower depending on which one needs help.
And I have to remember they both learn differently. He's a school teacher and likes practical things like angles, while she's more into the idea of what the step is supposed to accomplish.
-
Where is everyone this evening?
-
Are they having fun without me?
-
I know where ChasSmith is.
-
Had a lovely Restaurant Week lunch today. A chopped salad with heirloom tomatoes followed by a burger with Parmesan fries.
-
The Washington Post has just picked up the story of the shootout at the Walmart in Tumwater. Scary, scary story.
What happened? I am not seeing anything in today's news
-
Hello, everyone.
-
TCB, I am so sorry to hear about the recent incident with the U-Haul truck. How frightening. I'm glad neither you nor your car were hurt.
-
TOD:
I hear the word "cover" used as BK used it often these days. But there was a time when I usually heard it referred to as a rendition: "Here's Nat King Cole doing a rendition from..."
Was it always used this way and I just wasn't aware of it?
-

Weird. It was last year's story. But for some reason it's trending on the Washington Post tonight.

Nor did I.
-
Ah.
(It's a post!)
-
The shootings put Walmart in a very tricky position. Yes, they sell guns, but other gun sellers aren't being targeted. They are simply a well-known retailer where lots of people gather. I haven't heard anything about additional security at their stores, but I'd sure be thinking about it if I worked there.
-
Good night.
-
Just read that Jim Cullum died. He was a legend here in San Antonio. His playing is something that will stay with me. But my favorite memory is of him at a restaurant where he was playing. He stopped at a table to talk with the two couples there. Their food arrived and he joined them in saying grace before they started their dinner.

From TCB last night:
I tried your solution for cleaning my lenses, but the moment I put the toothpaste in my eyes, it stung so bad I had to rinse it out immediately.
But Tom, you had cataract surgery already! Your lenses shouldn't be cloudy! ;)
-
Sorry to hear about John Cullum.
-
I spoke with him a couple of times, but I'm more friends with his son, Chris, who has run a few restaurants, bars and a burger truck in the area.

ha! Thank you. I needed that laugh.
-
Jane, I hope you find a Kindle/tablet you're happy with.
-
Sorry to hear about John Cullum.
Jim, not John. John is the actor with the magnificent voice. Jim was a trumpet player whose show from the River Walk aired on NPR for decades.

ha! Thank you. I needed that laugh.
I wasn't sure how it'd land in print.

Anyway, I need to stop reading. The news is a little too bad.
-
Four!
-
I'm sure we could all use more laughs these days.
-
I'm sure we could all use more laughs these days.
Amen.
-
One song that Cullum played often when I saw him was Long Ago and Far Away. Seems fitting to listen to that tonight.
-
Good night, all.

Oh, I'm not familiar with him. I read his name as "John." Sloppy reading on my part.

WHAT SHOOTOUT AT THE WALMART IN TUMWATER?? :o
-
Another one??
-
Another one??
No. Not another one. For some reason last year's story is trending.
-
Here's a particularly joyous Jim Cullum take on We Three Kings from one of their Christmas albums.

Whew! I found the story on KIRO 7's website (https://www.kiro7.com/news/local/police-armed-civilian-took-down-shooter-at-washington-state-walmart/771791480). I don't know why they would have a link to an article that's a year old. ::)

It sounds like I would not have Goodreads or Facebook but might get HHW.
Jane, Kindles are specifically an Amazon product, so they don't support ePub titles. You would need another device for that. I would think that a Kindle Fire could have an app for ePub titles. And any tablet or even the Kindle Fire should be able to get to Goodreads, Facebook and HHW through the browser on the device. If Goodreads had an app, that should work, as well as the FB app. Just not on a Kindle.
Does that all make sense? :-\
-
George what advice could you give me abut looking for a DVD burner?
-
Facebook is rife with idiots sharing old news as if it was new news - it makes me crazy and I'm not nice about it. And the response is always "so what, it's still relevant." I don't give a crap if it's still relevant - just say "This is old but still relevant." And everyone believes it's new and that's just stupid and even dangerous, as in sharing last year's Walmart story as if it just happened so everyone can get their Facebook outrage on.
We have not budged, percentage-wise on this day and I'll tell you why. Because the damn Facebook algorithms are not letting people see the post - we're lucky we've gotten as far as we have because a lot of folks have shared it. So, maybe one of you could share the latest on my page. But if we're stagnating, then I'm not going to push anymore until the final week.

Thank you. I have decided to return the new one. I don't care for the shape and it weighs more. I will continue my search and hope this tablet continues to work.

What is this page four malarky?

Finished with my viewing.

It is overwhelming at times.

It is annoying shopping for a tablet. First off you can't really get a sense of hou they feel when they are attached to a cable & have security devices.
You can see some things on the floor samples but it can be limited.
I cant see Overdrive and finding books to read is often difficult.

I feel the same way, especially with the missi g person stories they obviously don't open first to see if the person was found. It only takes a few seconds to open an article and look for an update
-
Bruce was your latest 7 hours ago?
I will comment, vs simply liking, which should help.
-
Beginning of the evening, yes. I also just did an eBlast to the Kritzerland customer list - we'll see if that gets some folks to do something.
-
I will try and comment on them from now on.
-
Thank you, kindly, ma'am. vixmom did, too.
-
I saw 😊
-
Good evening.
-
I just read online that President Lincoln was shot at Ford’s Theatre tonight!
-
Oh wait, apparently that happened a while ago!
-
:D

Shocking possible news from DR TCB last night. Would she really move in with you and 2 dogs? What about Nicky?
Don’t worry, my sister will not be moving in with me. First of all, this is an alcohol-free home, second of all, the HOA only allows one animal per unit and Nick was here first.
-
Ah yes, the HOA strikes again.
-
Last week, I mentioned (much to George’s chagrin) that the HOA does not allow cars to back into their parking spots.

Vibes for your sister.

Well, I thought I got that worked out with the HOA representative. So, Saturday night it was raining, so I backed into my covered parking spot.

And??

So, today I find a courtesy note on my car telling me that I am not allowed to back into my parking spot.
