Hi, guys. I wanted to some good news for me. Today the doctor confirmed that the hand tremors I have developed is not Parkinson's, but a genetic condition from my grandma. It's not bad but we will keep an eye on it.

I am having a recovery day. Not up to driving yet, or even being on my feet much. I'm not allowed to shower until tomorrow, which does put a dent into socializing, doesn't it? Seriously, I can really use a few days of R&R. So much work and anxiety goes into just preparing for these procedures!
Last night Jane asked how I got home yesterday.
One of the staff called the office that schedules rides as part of my insurance benefits. She called at 4:50, but they could only schedule rides for the next ten minutes. As if life stops at 5pm! She was able to obtain an after-hours phone number, though, which I was able to use successfully, ie, the phone was answered and by a knowledgable person. They called Lyft and a driver was in front of the building before I could even get downstairs. One of the nurses escorted me to the car.
I really like this benefit. The first year I had it I kind of scoffed at it, thinking I didn't need it, and didn't use it. The year I had eye surgery the benefit had been discontinued--and, man, I could have used it! So many trips back and forth to UCLA! I was very glad when it was reinstated. I use it a lot now. Yesterday I wasn't allowed to drive myself home and when I see the ophthalmologist they usually want to dilate me. I have no desire to drive while dilated. I hope to keep the benefit.

It's a great benefit. I have driven home after having my eyes dilated but not in L.A. traffic.

Lyft. I thought maybe there was a special service that escorted people home from the hospital. I gather the Lyft driver didn't assist you to your door.
Just curious, since you didn't order or pay for the Lyft ride did you still receive a notice to add a tip?

They use several different ride firms and usually ask if you have a preference. I've had good luck with Lyft and continue to use it.
No, there's no opportunity to tip online that I'm aware of. Knowing that, I tip in cash.

I am sure they appreciate the cash.

I've never really had any trouble driving after having my eyes dilated. I wear my sunglasses that just go on over my prescription glasses, but it's never really been any trouble...so far. Who knows what'll happen as I get older. ::)
;)
DR Jeanne have you given a spare key to a friend in case of an emergency? I suppose though you would have to be able to reach them in an emergency.
I thing the ride option from your insurance is wonderful & all insurance plans should offer it.
Oh, and 158%. Today's goal: 160% - we can DO it - and then to infinity and beyond.

Yes, especially all plans for seniors. The Medicare Advantage market is very competitive; once one company offers a new benefit the others tend to follow suit.

Yes, a neighbor has my spare key, but he doesn't drive.
Brian is here now. He brought me a gourmet sandwich and is now doing some cleaning that I know I'll never get to.
Grammy Jane, thank you for the link, it was very helpful. I admit after the not Parkinson's, I kinda tuned out and forgot what else the doctor was saying. She wanted to check if my gait had changes from the last appointment so she had me walk down the hall, turn, and walk back. Apparently I did quite a turn and got applause from the staff. So I flung out out my arms, sashayed and said I was studying to be a drag queen.

I went to the dollar store tonight bought a tube of Pepsodent and a 4 pack of soft cloths
Put up one new perk - a photocopy of the original opening night piano/conductor score for the infamous B'way production of Carrie - huge - many, many pages in a big binder. These simply don't show up and I know I priced it too low so if anyone's interested, you have a jump as I haven't announced it anywhere. I also have four versions of cover art Harvey Schmidt did for Colette Collage - the one that's missing is the one we used. These are really cooliscious. I think what he did was Xerox his art and hand paint each version - so it's original art and they're really cool. Here's what I need to know - do I put them up as a lot or separately?

Bless Brian. Is this is last time helping you?
What would you think would be a fair price? They're really cool. I think I charged 200 or 250 for the Schmidt doodles, but I'd like to be fair and for people to have a chance to own one.

Now I can't get "it depends on what you pay" out of my head.

He says no. I hope that's true.
Jane, if you're looking at Medicare Advantage programs I'd suggest United Healthcare's Secure Horizons. That's what I have and the reps have been very friendly and helpful. The feedback I receive is that it's really good insurance.
I joined it specifically to watch A Handmaids Tale

Definitely priced too low - at least too low for me to resist.
Let me know when you know how much for the shipping. This is great!
I do not know how Terry Gilliam keeps getting movies made. What an absolutely beautiful film, hallucinatory, insane and filled with a love of movie making that was breathtaking. Best movie I've seen in ages.
I gotta tell you. Listening to a new master - haven't done a classical title in a while - so this one's fantastic, one of my favorite American composers.
160%! We sold out of the twenty dollar signed DVD perk - so I put up another fifty.

Congrats on the newest level! ;D
Not the solution I had hoped for, but a win is a win....... I guess.

Good evening, George.
Sorry, too formal! Hi, George.
The old guy from the HOA that I was talking to today agreed that it was stupid that there is only one ramp up to the sidewalk on the whole block.

That does seem unusual. The cost of adding another sidewalk after the fact is probablu more than they want to spend.
Is the curb difficult for you?
Would a curb wheelchair ramp be possible at your parking spot if cost effective for the HOA?

Yes, but just for one day and night I think it would be fantastic!
