Thank you, Bruce and George, for the birthday wishes. Even my brother forgot it so it was nice to be remembered.
Great photo! While reading the notes, I'd pictured the studio as being glamorous given that Cindy Williams and you were there, but I guess it's supposed to be designed to be functional and businesslike, like it is. Unless the studio inside is furnished differently.
Our daughter-in-law is in Florida on business and Rob was to join her tomorrow for a little vacation over the holiday weekend. They've cancelled his flight and she's coming home. Mom is very relieved...
The rapport doing the commentary sounds wonderful. I wonder if anyone ever did a play about two old friends doing a commentary, but maybe some drama could be made up (to go in during the session) and the taping of the audio keeps going. Could be very "Gin Game." Maybe use the actual commentary as a starting point, so the author credit could be "by Bruce Kimmel and Cindy Williams." (Or maybe a "My Dinner With Andre" kind of movie? But who could star in it?)
Nice review in AudioFile Magazine of the audio edition of my stage play, CLIFTON WEBB, brilliantly performed by John A. Boulanger. You can download it via audio.com, Amazon or iTunes.
"Narrator John Boulanger gracefully introduces the multitalented Clifton Webb from the 1940s-50s. Webb excelled at ballroom dancing, opera (he had 24 parts "ready to go"), stage, and screen. Boulanger's portrayal of Webb is subtle, while his depiction of snobbish Maybelle, Webb's mother, is forceful as she dominates his life. Listeners will enjoy hearing about Webb's most famous--and hilarious--role in SITTING PRETTY as prim and proper Lynn Belvedere, who is a nanny to three children. Sound effects add atmosphere throughout. The repartee of Webb and his Hollywood friends offers a light touch. S.G.B"

I love commentaries. For me, the two best kinds of "extras" are commentaries and interviews. Of course it should go without saying that none of these should be fluff, but unfortunately, there are a great many worthless ones out there. But good commentaries and interviews are what TEACH you about a film or some aspect of film or of the people involved, and there's nothing better than that.
Favorite ones? That's a tough one. Well, a couple of the all time champs were Nick Redman and Julie Kirgo, and I do hope she gets back into doing them one of these days. The ones I've already heard BK do are wonderful. The first one I heard was FIRST NUDIE MUSICAL with Nick Redman, followed by the Bert I. Gordon one with his lovely ladies (which film was that one on?). One more mention of Nick Redman goes to any and all of the Peckinpah films in which he collaborated with his fellow experts. These are simply extraordinary conversations, every one of which I'm positive would reward multiple viewings and hearings.
There are many other fine ones which my brain is unable to rattle off right now, both solo efforts and conversations. Again, when they're great, they're worth the price of admission for someone like me.
I don't have the release yet myself, but the commentary on the new SWEET CHARITY Blu-ray has gotten slammed from one end to the other by everyone who's heard it and taken the trouble to mention it. And what a shame. Talk about yer wasted opportunities.
I cannot wait for my campaign button!

I spoke with buster last night, they are sticking on gS , water and supplies but overall are unconcerned about the impending storm. They plan to ride it out with friends as they did for Irma.. their friends ( the best man and maid of honor) own a concrete home with storm shutters

Oh, no! I wonder what's so bad about it. ???

It's Kat Ellinger, one of these Dr. Drew Casper types, a know-nothing know-it-all whose knowledge all comes from books and the Internet. She also has a very annoying voice, and knows nothing about Sweet Charity so tries to do all this pedantic junk in her commentary.
My chicken salad has chicken, mayo, onion, celery, salt, and pepper. I am a purist.

Yesterday TCB said
Tomorrow is my doctor’s appointment in the morning and a memorial service in the afternoon.
The first thought I had was that you were expecting the doctors appointment to go badly

It took me a few moments to figure out who buster was. The "they are sticking on gS" took me even longer, but now makes perfect sense.

I'd add a little sweet relish.
Wow. A film of Merrily We Roll Along, 20 years in the making.

I had less reaction to the second shot, Jane. I hope the same is true for you. Just take it easy tomorrow. And take an Aleve.
I don't know WHAT this day has been, but I have not stopped, I wrote not one word of liner notes and WHAT? I spent a LOT of time at the piano, a lot of time on the phone, picked up packages, got some pizza slices for food (probably a mistake), and at some point I watched the first ten minutes of The Thin Man and the next thing I knew is the phone rang and the menu screen was on meaning I slept through the entirety of the movie.
Well, I'm off. I'm ushering for a play tonight. I forget what it's called, but I'll give a report when I get home tonight.
Be back later.

I wonder if anyone who cares to see it now will still care 20+ years from now....assuming we're still on the right side of the grass of course
Hi, George.
Oh, I thought you had fallen asleep.
Can we make it into the 130’s?
Then I made some cheesecake-flavored instant pudding...just because.

Cheesecake-flavored pudding? I have never heard of that.

So you could just dump it into one those pre-made graham cracker crusts, and you would have a cheesecake.
Why waste time with a crust, just grab a spoon!
