Title: AN OLD-FASHIONED NEIGHBORHOOD BOOKSTORE
Post by: bk on September 15, 2019, 12:13:31 AM
Well, you've read the notes, the notes were old-fashioned, and now it is time for you to post until the old-fashioned cows come home.

Well, today is the one day that Seven Cars at Boston Harbor Marina will be playing.  There will be three shifts of actors.  I'm in the first shift at 1:00.  Each scene during each shift will be performed six times, so I'll have six chances to get it right. ;) Then, I'm done.

I also found out on Thursday that Bryan (the author) wants to remount the show for at least one cycle on October 27th.  I haven't heard if he's specifically choosing actors, or if we let him know that we're available and then he'll decide who, but he did say at the first rehearsal that his plan was to do this monthly, or at least on a semi-regular basis.

And since most of the roles are triple cast, if anyone isn't available on a particular performance date (Jeff said that he'll be in California on the 27th), there are up to two other people who could play the role.  That would be fun!

Hi George!  Sorry I haven't been around.  First, a family member had emergency surgery and I went to care for her and get her settled back at home. Gone for several days.  Since I've been home, the damn computer has decided to only work when it wants to.  I get on, try to do something and it cuts out and I can't get back on.  Ready to throw it out the window.  My nephew is coming to work on it when he gets a chance but I might be in and out for a few more days.

Off to bed.  Hopefully, the show goes well.  I won't have much of a report because I only see my scene...but we'll see how people feel about it.

Have a good day, all!

I’ll be out all day, and any vibes you can spare for a good rehearsal and sitzprobe will be most welcome. And don’t forget to pray for that baby.

Another night of hell:  I switched from Tylenol to Advil and took one Advil tablet and one Advil PM around 9:00 and went to bed around 9:30.  I woke around 12:30, tossed about for a bit until 1:30 and then took a second Advil PM.  It was another restless night, and when it was time to feed the cats, I fed tem, dressed, and began the laundry.

Last night, we watched MURPHY'S ROMANCE w/ Sally Field and James Garner.

It's a charming movie that I hadn't seen in many years.

However, the ending (i.e. how they get rid of the ex-husband) is a bit too convenient & coincidental.

"Get rid of" is probably the wrong phrase.  They don't kill him.   :D

I remember liking MURPHY'S ROMANCE, but I remember I like the ex-husband as well just because I liked the actor.....

He also played a jerk on the ROSEANNE show....which is strange because he seemed like a nice guy.

I liked the movie, too.  The actor was Brian Kerwin.  He was on One Life To Live for a while and lived in the West 70s.  One day we were both riding the No 7 bus uptown and struck up a conversation.  He was nice man.

No patrol today, DR JRand69.  The cats are frolicking more than enough this morning.  Annabelle has been chased by Stella too many times onto my computer table, the windowsill, into the bookcases, and Thatch is romping along with them.  They're getting their exercise while I mop up the spills and pick up the things they scatter.

We went to a preview event for the series at Miami Hamilton this past Tuesday and we’re also looking forward to the broadcast.  The live band that performed at the event was The Corndrinkers.  I worked at Dayton Metro Library with Barb, one of the fiddle players and had heard her play at staff day.  Hadn’t heard the whole band before, though.

Phyllis Newman has died.  I liked her.  The last time I saw her was on Broadway and 80th Street.  She had just come from Pinky Nails.  She said "I'd take your hand but I just had my nails done."  I helped her get a taxi.

When I went with my Mom to see "Madwoman of Central Park West"(it sounded like the perfect show to see with Mom), we had really close seats.  At one point, something Ms. Newman said in the script about kids made my Mom really laugh a little louder than other people and Mom nudged me in the ribs. Ms. Newman looked to see who was acknowledging what she'd said about kids, and saw that it was a Mom about her age seeing the show with a kid close to the age she was talking about.

I got to tell Phyllis Newman that at one of Amanda's concerts, and she seemed to like that a Mom and a son had gone to that particular show together.   (But I could not recall for the life of me what the line was.    Mom's reaction had been with a meaning like  "See, that happens between parents and kids in in celebrity families, too.")

Back from Bible study. Nice evening. I have been getting together with about four members of this group for 15 years. Others have come and gone. We do cook, open a few bottles of vino and talk.

Watching the beginning of Amazing Grace, the film of Aretha Franklin's live gospel concert in 1972. The sound is cranked up. My ears are happy.

We got a couple of waves of raindrops tonight. Not enough to make an actual rain perhaps, but the plants will be happy.

Well, today is the one day that Seven Cars at Boston Harbor Marina will be playing.  There will be three shifts of actors.  I'm in the first shift at 1:00.  Each scene during each shift will be performed six times, so I'll have six chances to get it right. ;) Then, I'm done.

It's over!  Well, for now. :) It went pretty well.  And it didn't rain during the time that I was there (it just sprinkled a bit), so that was good!

They somehow accidentally overbooked, so we started early, and even with that, my shift went longer than expected.

I wasn't perfect for most of our times, but we got through them without too many goobers...most were from me. ::) I did get it by about halfway though.

Originally, we were supposed to just do it six times, then the next group would do their hour at 2:00, then the third at 3:00, but we actually got done at about 2:30 instead of 2:00.

Instead of doing the original six times through, we had eight groups of audience members, mostly in groups of three.

After I left the marina, I wanted to get something to eat, so I went to a local restaurant, Well 80 (http://well80.com/), to have their Impossible Burger again.  I really liked it when I had it before.

But when I ordered it, they said that they had the Beyond Burger instead.  Their website and their in-store menu still said Impossible Burger, though.

I went ahead ordered the Beyond Burger.  I liked it much better than Burger King's Impossible Burger, but not as much as the Impossible Burger that I got before at Well 80.

I don't think that it was a matter of trustworthiness.  I assumed it was because they weren't able to get their supply of Impossible "meat," but instead were able to get the Beyond "meat" (probably because of Burger King), but then they either didn't want to temporarily change their menu (assuming they would eventually get the Impossible Burger again), or it just happened and they haven't changed their menu, yet.  Just a theory.

Phyllis Newman has died.  I liked her.  The last time I saw her was on Broadway and 80th Street.  She had just come from Pinky Nails.  She said "I'd take your hand but I just had my nails done."  I helped her get a taxi.

I just read that. :(

I saw her on tour with that show. I really enjoyed her in that and loved Ed Kleban's song, Better.

I have that CD, and I really like that song, too!
