Well, you've read the notes, the notes were next to nothing, and now it is time for you to post until the next to nothing cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: DEXTEROUS!
-
First post after BK.
-
Second post after BK.

Tom, I can set my DVD burner to record the show when I go to sleep tonight.
-
I prayed that Nick would start feeling better and apparently my prayers have been answered. This afternoon, Nick seemed better than he has been in weeks, and he ate so much food today, that I had to give him a third meal this evening. Amazing!

Thanks George.

Good night, George.

Whew! That's great!

This makes me happy.

Good night, George.
Good night, Tom.
-
Off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Great news about Nicky.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I tried to sleep into 8:15, but my body told me that 7:30 was the time to get out of bed.
-
I had the usual night. I took a Tylenol PM with a Tizanadine and Tylenol w/codeine, turned off the lights around 10:20 and slept soundly until 2:15 or so. I took another Tylenol PM, tossed about for maybe an hour and finally dozed off.
-
DR TCB, thanks for the good news about Nicky! All three of my cats actually ate their breakfast this morning. Annabelle's been quite picky for the past several weeks.
-
I plan to have a quiet morning after cleaning the litter so I can chill out a bit before I have to walk to the movie at 11:00.
-
Good news about Nicky!
-
Whirlpool is a strange film....but I do love the location shooting and Gene's car.....pretty nifty.
-
Thanks to all for the PICNIC vibes. We had a very good closing night for a large QUIET audience....everything worked and all lines were spoken...and strike was ONE HOUR.
We then went to the local Wings N Things for a wrap up...most entertaining.
-
Sunday morning greetings!
I plan to have a quiet morning after cleaning the litter so I can chill out a bit before I have to walk to the movie at 11:00.
Sorry, DR Elmore, I can’t make it today because I’m going this afternoon to the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance season opening concert. It’s Haydn’s Creation with the Dayton Philharmonic and chorus, the Dayton Ballet, and the Dayton Opera chorus. My friend Sharon sings in the opera chorus and her husband’s out of town, so I’ll use his ticket. I also have 2 friends in the orchestra chorus but one of them will be out today due to a family obligation.
Enjoy the movie!
-
Bed made, litter and dishes cleaned, and I'm ready for a nap before the movie.
-
I tried to sleep into 8:15, but my body told me that 7:30 was the time to get out of bed.
Same here. I am about to get up.
-
Good morning!
-
Glad to hear that Nicky's feeling better!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Finally... Blessedly... a ME day.
Tomorrow sort of is, too, and I couldn't be more grateful. But let's take it a day at a time, shall we?
-
So glad to hear Nicky rebounded!

Last night's show was both great and hellish.
We had a substitute drummer which was scaring the bejesus out of me throughout the the evening. I know him and he's basically good and plays lots of shows, but he'd only ever played Cabaret once some years ago, and that, too, was as a sub. I was only able to meet with him an hour before, and we went over every cue. He did pretty well for the most part, but it turned out that he didn't have a grip on what the style of the drum solos should be. He'll be back once more, next Saturday, and the regular drummer (who's wonderful) is going to have to help on that.
Other weird things happened, including a keyboard amp volume level mishap that happened just before the start of the song "Cabaret" when I found I had about half my volume. Couldn't do a damned thing about it till after the song when I found the problem and fixed it. The band carried on and the song completed successfully, don't ask me how.
Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. Time for a week off.

I have much to do today before we leave.
-
I have some packing to do today. But first, the rest of Carousel.
-
I have some packing to do today. But first, the rest of Carousel.
I assume you are watching the pitiful film version with Gordon Macrae?
-
I am home from the movie. I left the theatre with a huge smile on my face and a big tear in my eye.
-
The first time I watched the entire series from beginning to end, I went back to Season One and watched the whole thing all over again. I felt the same way about the movie. I want to see it again and soon.
-
I'm up, I'm up - just about eight hours of sleep.
-
If you liked the series, you'll love the film. It takes the simple "the King of England is coming for dinner" and wrings everything out of it that it can: clothing issues, royal staff vs Downton staff and the royal staff are impossibly superior and snobby, broken family relationships, romantic entanglements old and new. Would Tom Bransom's politics include assassination? Will he ever find another great love? Will Barrow ever find romance? Why are tchochkes vanishing from the Abbey's rooms? Will Daisy commit to marrying Andrew? Will Molesley ever stop making a fool of himself?
-

I assume you are watching the pitiful film version with Gordon Macrae?
Yes. And it was a dreadful case of what could have been.
One of the extras on the disc, though, is the Fritz Lang film of Liliom, which I haven't seen in years. I don't know that I will watch all of it today, but it's nice to know that it's there. Charles Boyer is the main character.
-
Thanks for the update of Downton. Maybe I'll get to see it when I get back.
-
I made a comment several weeks ago about the series showing signs of bigger budgets once it was successful, and the film shows the same. I never felt for a moment, though, that I was seeing a TV episode on a film budget. It's a film that wraps up the series even better than the last episode of Season Six did. I loved the new music for a wonderful opening sequence leading to the first shot of the Abbey and the familiar theme.
-

Yes. And it was a dreadful case of what could have been.
It was such a wrong idea to begin in heaven, and it's cast oddly. I like MacRae, Audrey Christie, Robert Rounseville, and Cameron Mitchell, but I detest the actress playing Carrie and I think Shirley Jones is much better as Laurie in Oklahoma!

Barbara Ruick was Carrie. She was better as an evil stepsister in the Leslie Warren Cinderella.

When I watched the CAROUSEL film for my first time in many years, I was actually shocked to see that opening scene. I’d totally forgotten about it.
-
What a warm day! Some AC will have to be called into service this evening.
I took care of the things that absolutely needed to be done today, ran a couple of errands, got back home and fed the monsters, and I am now sitting on the deck eating chips and salsa and sipping a dirty Tanqueray martini (not my preference, it’s what was in the house)... and I don’t care who knows it.
-
We’re in the mid to high 80s today and tomorrow. It’s a delightful, if all too brief, return to summer temps. I’m hoping for another one of these when it comes time for some
Indian Native American Summer.

From the mediocre to the ridiculous. I'm now listening to the new Oklahoma! recording, which came in to the library. I'm glad I didn't pay for this. I like the hillbilly orchestrations, but the singing is definitely not my cuppa.
-
I made a Keto-friendly chocolate pie yesterday. I meant to take last night to dancing. I didn't read the recipe all the way through and it needed to sit six hours. It was liquid yesterday. It looks great today. Taking it to dinner with friends.

I have a friend who LOVES the new recording. I've only heard a few tracks and liked them, but don't love the more modern interpretations. But I do love Mary Testa!

A friend went on that and got sick. You need a working gallbladder to digest the diet.

Hello, everyone.
-
Thanks to DR Elmore for the DOWNTON report. Looking forward to seeing it. Like Elmore, I will watch the entire series again first.
-
Good news from DK Nicky! Vibes it continues.
-
I'm impressed with BK's domesticity.

That would mean high fat, but low sugar, yes? Have you made one before? Is it tasty?

I've also only heard a few tracks, but liked them very much. I'd like to hear the whole CD.

TTFN.

Yes, I would eat a little of the pie & not feel too concerned.

I am happy the rain stopped before we walked today.
-
And it is still not raining as we head for the airport.
-
Laters.
-
What? No Emmy watching party?
-
We are at the airport waiting to board.
-
Let's have EMMY reports here.
-
Had some e-mail volleys, Grant came and hung the Sundays and Cybele poster, which looks faboo, then I went to Stanley's and had the chicken pasta thing - they're using so much less heavy cream now, which is a good thing. I had a starter Caesar salad, too - all great and I'm really fuller than full.
-
Then I came home and buckled down, Winsocki, and got all the What If benefit lyrics into one sheet, finished choosing who's doing what, made a show order, and sent it to everyone. There are about four solo songs (non-What Ifs) where the singers can tell me what they know perfectly and I'll choose from those. Twelve things per act should be just right.

Well that’s me out then, I lost my gallbladder 10 years ago

Travel vibes for Jane and Keith
-
I think it is a very unhealthy diet.
-
Thank you.
-
I think they will be closing the doors soon.
-
Often I think that and it takes another 20 minutes.
-
No perfume but one of the flight attendants is wearing a scented lotion.
-
We are moving
-
Bye
-
Good evening.
-
Have a great trip, Jane.
Well, don't actually trip. Please.
-
I saw the tour of Carousel years ago and loved it. I watched the movie and was very disappointed. I really like the concert version with Kelly O'Hara and Nathan Gunn -- I especially like the Carrie and Mr. Snow
-
Nathan Gunn's wife's name is Julie Jordan.

I would think that you'd need the opposite. Gallbladders hate carbs.
-
Elmore, PLEASE don't take both Tylenol PM and Tylenol w/codeine at the same time. That is too much Tylenol and will damage your liver. You can take Benedryl (the PM ingredient) and ibuprofen along with Tylenol. But two doses of Tylenol at once is too much.

I liked that version a lot.

A double dose.

They are warning us about great amounts of rain coming our way in the next couple of days. They have said this several times over the last month -- and we have only had about a quarter of an inch all summer.
-

I'll take it.

The pie was spectacular. I'm going to make it again Saturday. The big secret was I added some apricot salt to it. After a taste, it called for even a little more salt. I might also add a splash of a flavor like Goldschlager for cinnamon or framboise for raspberry.
-
Starting to watch Radio Days, which may be my favorite Woody Allen movie.
-
Can't we get off this page?
-
One more ...
-
Four!
-
Just looked over the Emmy winners. Was glad to see Michelle Williams win for Fosse/Verdon. And Billy Porter.
-
I watched a little bit of the emmys
-
I realized that except for Game of Thrones, Barry and This Is Us I hadn’t even heard of any of the other shows.
-
They mentioned on the news that it turns out the hotel fire in Times Square was in the building adjacent to the Hyatt on 45th Street, not the Hyatt itself.
-
Most of the outfits were ridiculous
-

I hadn’t heard about a hotel fire, was that today?
-
Most of the outfits were ridiculous
Yes, they were. Hilariously so.
-
Billy Porter’s hat was not only silly looking, but damned inconsiderate for anyone sitting behind him
-
Good night, all.
-
Good night, all.
Good night John, do you think that pie will mail well? I think I prefer the idea of raspberry to cinnamon, although some orange might be a nice touch as well
-
You know, just in case you want to surprise me
-
Well I should be sleeping
-
Have a lovely evening one and all
-
And all and one
-
What? No Emmy watching party?
I was concessioning downtown.
-
I recorded it, so I'm going to start watching it now.
-
The opening segment (to me) wasn't great. ::)
-
Thomas Lennon is the "Emmys Commentator."
-
He's funny. ;D
-
First award: Tony Shalhoub won for Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.
-
Supporting Actress in Comedy Series: Alex Borstein.
-
She gave a great speech.
-
Nick Cannon is wearing a turban. :-\
-
Ken Jeong's bit with Nick Cannon standing there was not funny...or necessary.
-
Writing - Comedy Series: Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
-
I have never heard of 98% of the shows or people that are nominated.

I haven't heard if most of them, either.

Good evening.

The movie version of CAROUSEL is one of my Top Ten favorite films.
-
Hi, George.
-
I have never heard of FLEABAG.
-
Reality-Competition Program: RuPaul's Drag Race
-
Hi, George.
Hi, Tom.
-
I have never heard of FLEABAG.
I haven't either.
-
I would like to watch BARRY.
-
Unfortunately, I don’t have HBO.
-
Unfortunately, I don’t have HBO.
I do have HBO, but I've never seen it.
-
I suppose eventually it will be on one the services I subscribe to.
-
There are so many shows on HBO and Showtime (I have that, too) that I haven't seen.
-
The Seahawks lost badly today.
-
The Seahawks lost badly today.
That's too bad.
-
The final score was 33 to 27, but the game was much more one-sided than the score would suggest.
-
Nick was not nearly as good today as he was yesterday.
-
Supporting Actress - Limited Series: Patricia Arquette
-
He is still doing okay.
-
Nick was not nearly as good today as he was yesterday.
:(
-
Directing - Limited Series or Movie: Johan Renck
-
Supporting Actor - Limited Series: Ben Whishaw
-
I sort of watched the Emmy Awards.
-
Interesting...when they were announcing all the Supporting Actor - Limited Series nominees' names, they played the fake audience screaming for everyone except Ben Whishaw.
-
Writing for a Limited Series, Movie, or Dramatic Special: Craig Mazin
-
Lead Actor - Limited Series or Movie: Jharrel Jerome
-
Maya Rudolph and some guy I didn’t know were presenters. They were supposed to have just had LASIK surgery. They proceeded to garble the names and shows of the nominees. The nominees all seemed to take it in stride, but I think I would have been a little pissed to have my one nomination ruined on national TV.

I can understand that, but I thought that it was pretty funny. They mangled everyone's except Ted Danson! They said his perfectly. :))
