Well, you've read the notes, you've been on the town with the notes, the notes have been on the town with you, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home. The cows, coincidentally, are on the town, too.
-
And the word of the day is: OMELET!
I must toddle off to bed to get two or three hours of beauty rest. At the crack of dawn I shall be on my way to the airport environment. I'll see if I can get online there - if not, I'll be back on when I'm back in the City of Studio.
-
I knew PennyO would be good in "Woolf" but I had no idea Jose was playing opposite her!
Wait! I don't think I got that right!
-
Madeleine Robinson
http://perso.wanadoo.fr/mb46/fdaf/images/robinson_m.jpg
who passed away a few months ago, was the original "Woolf" in the French adaptation of the play.
She was a terrific actress.
During the run of Woolf, she identified so much with the character that she could not stand her co-star, Raymond Gérôme, who, incidently, is the French speaking and singing voice for Rex Harrison in My Fair Lady.
The fighting scenes, I heard, turned for real more than once!
-
Oh my God! Thanks to the wonders of Eastern Standard Time, I'm the fourth post!
First, I want to thank every wonderful DR who made the trek to Manhattan this weekend. I've met some wonderful folk on this site who have turned out to be extraordinariiy marvelous in person in the past year. This has proven true of the new friends I met this weekend, and I hope to meet more of you before too long. I only wish more of you had been able to come in.
DRPennyO provided herself with a lovely presentation that shows her off quite marvelously: I laughed, I cried, I applauded, I cheered.
DRPogue, I love THE LONG HOT SUMMER, and I wish the glorious Lee Remick had lived longer. Her beauty, like Audrey Hepburn's, always takes me by surprise each time I see her in something.
-
Good Morning!
What a wonderful evening! And, yes, there were pictures taken too! We'll just have to wait for the various DRs who had digital cameras with them to post them once they're back in their home environments.
It was a true pleasure meeting and re-meeting many DRs and their friends.
After leaving Angus McIndoe, I headed over to some bar on 10th Ave. with DR Rodzinski and his girlfriend for a little bit. Neat place - called Rufus I believe. We had gone there since one of DR Rodzinski's friends was "spinning platters" tonight, but, of course, as soon as we got there, he was done and was getting ready to head out. Ah, well. So the three us enjoyed an adult beverage, and chatted. Then we shared a cab back up to Canada/Siberia/Washington Heights.
And now I'm here. And I have a matinee in less than 12 hours...
-
DR vixmom - I hope you and your hubby had a very safe and uneventful drive back home tonight. The next time I'm up here for more than a few days, we'll have to get together again. -Have I told you that I have some connections with "American Girl Place" yet? -Or is that something you'd rather not know about.
;)
-
Hmmm... I just had to go back and correct that post four times... Matinee in 11 and a half hours...
-I had typed "Armenian Girl Place"... among other typos.
;D
-
DR Ginny and friend - Hope you find your Kite Cookie Cutter tomorrow. If not, I'm planning on making a run to Bridge Kitchenware this week - or at least the cook's supply place in Chelsea Market. I'll keep my eyes out, and send you one if your search comes up empty.
Enjoy the concert too! -I may run over to Lincoln Center myself after the matinee to catch the last half of the Metropolitan Opera Council Finals, so I'll look for you on the Plaza.
-
DR WFO and his ever lovin' Joe - Hope your trip back "up" to your room was expedient.
-
DR Danise - Yeah! It works! Your Wi-Fi card works!! Maybe it just needed to be primed in NYC before it can work down in Florida. ;)
I have no plans for Monday yet, so...
-
Great scott! What an evening of good will.
PennyO's show is a show that had me and the gal thinking a lot about afterwards. Such a unique balance of the comic and the tragic. The things you find yourself laughing at and then saying, "Hey wait, should I be lauging?" But sometimes you laugh to keep from crying, right? Anyways, a one of a kind entertainment. As Kay Kyser used to say, "Beautiful thoughts, beautifully expressed."
Armenian Girl Dolls? Now that is a concept whose time has come.
-
DRs Ben and Ant/Anthony/Baxter - Here's a pic of Nick - Ant's future Hero in Forum this summer. -His pic is on a few theatre websites, so...
Sorry I can't post his legs and abs. ;)
-
Armenian Girl Dolls? Now that is a concept whose time has come.
So, would they be a live version of those "nesting dolls"?
;D
-
Hey Jose! It's funny to post on here after just riding in a cab with you. Last night it was Elmore.
Genuinely great seeing all the faces who could make it out here to NYC. Everyone is good people, right down the line. If any of you are ever in the city again and want to hang out, let me know.
Tomorrow I have a matinee. But not to play for, just to go see, the Elvis musical. Then the Gal's taking me out for a special meal at Rosa Mexicano, which, if you haven't been, has the best classy Mexican food anywhere, and that includes Logan, Utah.
The bar was indeed called Rufus, and my friend was actually still spinning platters when we left. The guy who was leaving the place was the drummer in my band along with his wife.
-
DR elmore - My apologies for making you feel slighted and neglected. We shall definitely head to Artie's - or someplace else if you like - this Monday or Tuesday evening.
Oh..but I guess I should see what DR Rodzinski is up to those nights... :P
Are you back at the "office" this week at all? Whichever office that may be. I'd actually like to stop by and check out the digs if there's anything worth checking out. All your musical archaeology has me hankering for those days where I would literally spend the whole day at the Library of Congress pulling up scores, and then hiding out in one of the grand piano rooms - and they have nice pianos in the LoC! - just discovering some truly hidden and neglected gems.
But we're definitely on for Artie's this week! I need my kasha varnishkas fix!
-
OH!!!! And the reason for DR Rodzinski's special meal at Rosa Mexicano...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DR RODZINKSI!!!!
-Told you I would post that info. ;)
-And splurge on the guacamole. It's prepared tableside in an authentic mocajete. Hmm... I used to know one of the dinner captains there... Hmm...
-
It was also great seeing Panni again. She's in town for a few days for some very exciting meetings for a very exciting project. Green lights for everyone!
-
Thanks for the wishes. Yeah, that guac is the shizzle, as the kids say. I took the Gal there for her Birthday, and had a mushroom covered steak that was literally the best thing I've ever eaten, so I figured we could go again on my day.
Let me know what you guys do this week and I can meet up with y'all after work.
-
DR Michael Shayne - Safe travels to you too. And glad you liked Spamalot - and snagged a ticket too!
When I walked out of Angus, Christopher Seiber was standing right there on the sidewalk. We caught up briefly - very briefly. -I've done a few show with his partner, Kevin Burroughs. And I have to say, Christopher is looking as hunky as ever. ;)
And then I saw Mr. Tim Curry - a.k.a. DR Pogue's neighbor - walk out a bit later. It turns out, most of the company of Spamalot was downstairs while we were upstairs.
...Oooh... I should have asked Chris for a house seat!
-
Sleepytime Express for me.
Safe returns to all!
-
Tomorrow I have a matinee. But not to play for, just to go see, the Elvis musical. Then the Gal's taking me out for a special meal at Rosa Mexicano, which, if you haven't been, has the best classy Mexican food anywhere, and that includes Logan, Utah.[/i]
I get that reference! ;)
The bar was indeed called Rufus, and my friend was actually still spinning platters when we left. The guy who was leaving the place was the drummer in my band along with his wife.
Thanks for the clarification. As for the guy leaving... He was cute, as were a bunch of other men in the bar. Too bad the bar wasn't down in Chelsea.
:P
-
Dearest BK - Hope you were able to grab a few winks. And the highlights look great. As does the jacket. I tried scouting out one earlier in Chelsea between shows, but the sale prices at that Banana Republic were not marked down to the relative steal you got. I'll have to check again later in the week.
-
DR George - Are you on the Sondheim listserv? There a bunch of people who recorded the whole event, and are offering to make copies for people. So...
-
DR Jane - A lot of the places I listed offer small bites and portions of food. So... However, whatever you don't finish, I'd be more than happy to consume. Waste not, want not. Waist not, walk more!
-
Have a great matinee!
-
DR JRand, Ginny and Joey - Ooohhh!!! It looks like I may have 1/2 pricers for MAMMA MIA!. I'll keep you posted.
-
Since it's free for all day... This was prompted by a snippet of conversation between myself and the esteemed BK earlier tonight...
What Randy Vicar story would you most like to hear?
And/or do you have a Randy Vicar story that you'd like to share?
I have to wonder if there's a Tale of the Randy Vicar and the Haitian Dog?
;)
-
OOh... I headed to the Chelsea Market between shows to grab a bite to eat. I ended up back at Hale & Hearty Soups - had the Mulligitawny Soup and 1/2 a Turkey and Brie Sandwich. For dessert, I headed back over to FatWitch and picked up Baby Blondie - it's about 1/3 the size of their regular brownie. But, then to top it all off, I went over to the Donnybrook Dairy counter, and got a scoop of their French Toast Ice Cream! Soooo good! Creamy vanilla ice cream, with actual chunks of French Toast in it. Yummy!
-
And tomorrow's culinary goal is to go back to that bakery on 8th Avenue I passed earlier today that had trays of Zeppoles and Sfingis in their windows. They're the traditional pastries for St. Joseph's Day - which was yesterday, March 19. There was an article in the NY Times earlier this week, and after reading them, I simply must have one of them. Or Both!
Sfingi:

Zeppole:

-
And now that I have Frenzied till I can't Frenzy no more...
And since I have a matinee in less than 11 hours... -I'm kind of wired now, so...?!?!!?
And since I have brought us to Page 2...
I will most likely spend Sunday night just taking it easy. I'm starting to feel the past two weeks catching up with me. And, like I mentioned earlier, I will most likely pop that Bollywood movie that DR MBarnum sent me last summer into the DVD player here and finally watch it.
However, Monday and Tuesday are totally open for me, and I'm open to any and all suggestions.
Thanks again to all the DRs that made it to the show earlier tonight. And to those DRs that were not able to be there tonight, you were there in spirit - and DR elmore even led a toast to all of you! "Here, Here!"
And A Big Thank You - one of many - to DR PennyO for all her trust, support, encouragement, goodwill, and chutzpah! Love you, dah-link! See you in a few.
Goodnight.
-
Sounds like you all had a blast!
JRand54, I did not know Calder Willingham, I merely took his original idea, fleshed it out and ran with it. If it ever got produced, it would be screenplay by me, story by Calder Willingham and me. The project came to me from his last agent before he (Willingham, not the agent) passed away, who had gone into producing (the agent, not Willingham). But you are right! He is a great writer.
I forgot in mentioning my love for THE VIKINGS that I actually have three posters of the film in my TV room...one is American, one Italian, one Polish. The Polish one is particularly exquisite...a real piece of art. Viking is Wikingowie in Polish...The Lovely Wife and I are constantly singing "The Wikingowie, The Wikingowie, The Wikin, Wikin, Wikin, Wikingowie...to the opening horn fanfare of the Viking Theme by Mario Nascimbene.
The Lovely Wife and I have been having a Deadwood marathon tonight, watching the first four episodes of Season One. Pretty good stuff!
elmore, I agree about Lee Remick. Beautiful, smart, and a terrific actress on top of it all.
-
BK, sorry to hear two performers I like prove inadequate in this great play. Think the reviewers who were there today will concur?
I also agree you regarding writers and filmmakers who have to keep tinkering with their work, particularly after it has already established itself as a classic. Leave it alone, let it be what is, let it reflect who you were at a specific point in time, and move onto other things. Let there be a definitive version.
-
Well, another ten minutes and BK should be rising.
-
I'm posting live from the Jet Blue terminal. VERY crowded here this morning, and I got tagged for extra security check, which I actually got rather uppity about, since I'd gotten tagged on the way here. I don't mind once, but twice is a bit much. It went by quickly, however, so there you are.
I got three good hours of sleep, so while I'm tired, I'm at least not completely groggy as I would be if I'd just stayed up. I'm curious as to my car service when I arrive in Long Beach. I forgot to take their card with me, so if they don't call me on my cell on arrival (I THINK they have the number) I won't be able to call them. Car service cars can't just pull up and wait - they have to wait until we're there and then they pull up. Hopefully it will all be fine.

gOOD VIBES FOR THE CAR SERVICE. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

What wonderful posts about such a wonderful NYC experience! It was great reading about them, and I am excited to see the photos!
Thanks to everyone for posting so that those Home Alone as DRHISAKA put it....would still feel "with it."
DRJOSE - half price would be wonderful, is it possible for me to get two, my sister wants to come! MAMMA MIA!!
-
DR FRANCOIS - thank you for the Debby Boone CD info. I have very mixed to negative feelings about this project, especially when she would include songs Rosemary NEVER recorded are might not even have heard! Strange....but I suppose they were close, and she does have a Grammy!
-
I am horrified by MR BK's review of WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF....one of my favorite plays. I love the movie (it was my first "adult" film, we sneaked into the drive-in to see it) - and the recording wrings me out emotionally.
I am NOT a Bill Irwin fan (he is a bit precious for me) - so I was worried about his George, and I had seen Kathleen in THE GRADUATE (a lot of her in fact) and was concerned about her. Oh my....oh my. (a DREAMGIRLS reference).
-
Today I am going to see FROZEN.
-
And that's the Jrand Show for this morning.
-
MR BK will be leaving NYC momentarily....click on the link and enter Flight Number 205 to track his trek across the US of A! ;D

I have their Olga, Irina, and Masha! Next up, Sonya and Elena.

Sounds like you all had a blast!
The Lovely Wife and I have been having a Deadwood marathon tonight, watching the first four episodes of Season One. Pretty good stuff!
DRPogue, you shoulda been here with us! We could have dished Greek myths, Ohio, Lee Remick, and DEADWOOD, which I've found addictive since it began.
I finally ordered the Denis Quilley bio from Amazon.co.uk, but it hasn't arrived yet.
Dear Friend BK, by now you're probably flying over JRand54's territory. I hope your flight is a pleasant one. Thanks again for the pleasure of your company, and get your buttcheeks back to us soon.
-
Yes Mr BK is over Lake Michigan...he flew someone north of me.
-
I am NOT a Bill Irwin fan (he is a bit precious for me) - so I was worried about his George, and I had seen Kathleen in THE GRADUATE (a lot of her in fact) and was concerned about her. Oh my....oh my. (a DREAMGIRLS reference).
I worked with Bill on the Williamstown Theatre Festival's TONIGHT AT 8:30, which also included such lovely folk as Charlotte d"Amboise, her talented husband Terrence Mann, Steve Collins, Blythe Danner, Alix Korey, and Jack Gilpin. Before meeting him, I liked him very much in FOOL MOON. He was a delightful man to work with, and I wish him well in all his projects.
The last production of VIRGINIA WOOLF I saw was the Longwharf's around 1980, with Nichols and May, James Naughton, and Swoozie Kurtz. It was quite wonderful.
-
All right, enough from me! I've got to muster some energy to meet DRs Ben and Michael Shayne for brunch. At some point I need to contemplate several weeks' worth of laundry. Pray God the laundry room is free if I can muster up some energy.
DRJose, I'll be editing at the recording office tomorrow, 646-638-1938, from around 9 to 3. Tuesday, I'll be there until around 1:15; then the NYPL Theatre Collection.
-
Happy Birthday, DR RODZINSKI! ;D
Click on the link and wait a bit for a surprise (I hope). 8)

Thanks for the thoughts on Mr Irwin - DRELMORE. Nichols & May in VIRGINIA WOOLF - worth twice the money, I would guess.

Thanks for the thoughts on Mr Irwin - DRELMORE. Nichols & May in VIRGINIA WOOLF - worth twice the money, I would guess.
You're welcome, DRJRand54! Wish you'd been with us this weekend. Were you the one asking about "Love is Where You find it"?
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DR RODZINSKI !!!
Hope you have a beautiful birthday with the Gal in Mexiican mood
-
I agree with you about Lee Remick, DR Elmore. She was highly underrated and deserved lots more recognition during her lifetime. I always thought she was fabulous even when the projects she was involved in weren't always worthy of her abilities.
-
Good morning!!!
Gosh, whatta night! Thank you all, all you wonderful people out there in the dahhhhk! I had such a good time, doing the show for The Family, and afterwards, at dinner. It was so kind of you all to come and celebrate with Jose and me. And I thank my dear od pal, Bruce, for his friendship, lo these many decades, and look forward to more of the same, until one of us croaks.
Yesterday was a little iffy, in the Voice department - 2 shows, and I really was a little shot from such a long week. But the energy of my friends sustained me through the big stuff, and I got where I needed to get for the finale.
What a pleasure to finally shake hands with folks I've been communing with here online. May we all have many more evenings of good fun and camaraderie. We lifted a glass to our absent brethren (yes, I am still stuck on the OLD usage... having grown up with Fowler...) and wished Jay a happy birthday.
Rodzinski!!! happy birthday to YOU today! Have a swell dinner!
Okay - time to get into the shower and try to steam these vocal cords into any sort of shape for the little old ladies (just by the way: we do a lot of impromptu editing when the audience seems a tad uncomfortable with four-letter words and explicitly-described scenes of a carnal nature. Y'all got the nitty-gritty last night - but today will be somewhat less gritty...)
And off I go! See you soon, Jose!
-
We're going to have a high of 70 today, so I am quite thrilled about that. I should be able to get in a walk at some point today.
-
Nope not me DRELMORE - but you just know that I chimed in on the discussion - you just know I did.
-
Yes, indeed, happy birthday DR Rodzinski!
-
A Very good morning to one and all!
I am coming to you LIVE once again from the hotel lobby of The Muse, via my PDA and (Now) wonderful (worth every penny) Wi Fi card!
What a wonderful day/night I had yesterday!
We had us a PARTAY last night--the food, the laughs, the old friendships renewed and new friendships made--it was everything hoped for and more.
My only sorrow is that they say it rain today. I had so hoped for just a little snow--ahh well.
It's not as cold as I thought NYC would be--I haven't had to wear my long johns once.
Well, folks, like our host, I must take the day. I am going to try to go ice skating and then I shall see where my feet lead me as I explore NYC with a different set of eyes that saw the city back in May.
Bk said I have bloomed and found myself in NYC--I just hope I don't loose myself in the city today! LOL!
I may even ride the subway by myself.
Laters!
-
Ashton Kutcher and his director are on AMC Shootout trying to justify their remake of GUESS WHO'S COMING TO DINNER? and failing miserably. It's not a remake and it's not showing a lack of originality? Of course not, they say. And they don't want to tie themselves to the original - so why the advertising? Uh...well.....new subject!
-
Enjoy the Big Apple DR DANISE! I am so happy for you doing the things you planned to do!
-
PAGE THREE NON DANCE.
Saving the photos for the NYC git-togither!
And if your photos can bring a little joy into our humdrum lives, then all your hard work ain't been in vain fer nuthin'! ;D
-
Happy Birthday DR RODZINSKI!
I am not happy. I just went to the clinic, because my sinuses/cold have not gone away (in 12 days). I figured I should probably not be taking Advil cold & sinus for this many days. Anyhow I have never seen so many people at the clinic before. So I gave my name in and now I will go back in 2 hours. I have no idea how those people can sit there for 2 hours. It was horrible enough sitting there for the 30 minutes it took the woman to process my file. Too much sickness in one room!
Anyhow hopefully when I return I won't have to wait long. And then hopefully after that I will attempt to shop. I went yesterday and was sort of tired while doing it. But I did get a beautiful blue long jacket on sale for only $35. It is exactly what I have been looking for. And since it's pretty warm out today (well for here) I can even wear it.
-
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Feel better vibes for DRJENNIFER!
-
MR BK is crossing the border into California!
-
Off to see FROZEN!
-
Good Morning!
Time for me to head to the Subway...
Laters...
:D
-
Nope not me DRELMORE - but you just know that I chimed in on the discussion - you just know I did.
Oy! I know you did, dahlink.
I'm back from a lovely brunch with DRsBen and Michael Shayne. The company was totally charming, but I thought the food was not so good. Since I picked the restaurant, where I've had several good dinners, I'm feeling a bit guilty over that. Next time, Sarabeth's or Popovers, I promise!
-
A Very good morning to one and all!
Bk said I have bloomed and found myself in NYC--I just hope I don't loose myself in the city today! LOL!
I may even ride the subway by myself.
Laters!
DRDanise, a good morning back to you!
If you get lost today, call me at once. I'll be home vegetating and cogitating whilst lying down and not moving. I can offer long distance assistance.
-
Haapy, B'day,Rodzinski!
-
The phone here just rang a short while ago, the machine got it. I tumbled out of bed and went and had a listen. It was BK, telling me he has arrived and should be home in about 45 minutes.
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DR RODZINSKI!
We had a grand time last night at Penny's show and then at Angus McIndoe's. Anthony bonded with Rod's gal and they had lovely chats about planning weddings. We ate dinner before the show so we just had desserts, carrot cake for me and cheesecake for Anthony, then he became so hungry for fries that he ordered a small plate of them. It was so good to finally meet Deb/Vixmom and Steve and to see WFO and Joe again and to talk with Ginny and Laura (the niece). A better evening we couldn't have asked for.
Michael Shayne, Larry and I had brunch far too early this morning (10:00am) at Time Cafe on 85th and Broadway. 10 wouldn't have been so early except that I didn't get to bed until almost 1am. Oh, well. Another good time was had by all. Larry, the food was OK. It wasn't great but my Eggs Benedict was fine. The coffee, though, was always lukewarm. Oh, well.
On my way home I stopped at Fairway for some produce. Bananas and raisins for my morning oatmeal at the office and some cherry tomatoes, a loaf of bread, they had green grapes on sale so I had to get some, tangelos, cukes, lettuce and some cookies. We are now a happy family. Anthony is running his scenes for the callback on Tuesday with a friend from Dance Class so I'm home alone right now.
I will now leave you all to put away the groceries.
Later,
-
Lee Remick is someone I just have a hard time believing is not still with us.
Pogue, I think the same thing when I watch old TV game show clips. Just the general IQs on display are so much better than what one would see today! The average person on these shows just seemed to have a more colorful command of the english language.
To reflect my aging, JRand linked me to Walter Brennan's "Old Rivers", or as he says, "Old Riverzh". "Happy Birthday Old Folk".
Thanks for all the wishes!. Off to "All Shook Up". Expectations are low, low, low.
-
I'm back, and to prove it, I'm here. The home environment is freezing - it feels like it's twelve degrees. The heat is on.
First off, apologies to Rodzinski for missing the birthday on the calendar. I was just too too tired and trying to get the notes up in a hurry. So, let's make it official -
Let's all put on our pointy party hats and our colored tights and pantaloons, let's break out the cheese slices and the ham chunks, let's dance the Hora or the Lindy Hop, for today is dear reader Rodzinski's birthday. So, let's give a big haineshisway.com birthday cheer to dear reader Rodzinski. On the count of three: One, two, three - A BIG HAINESHISWAY.COM BIRTHDAY CHEER TO DEAR READER RODZINSKI!!!
And yes, I feel that dear reader Danise blossomed on this trip and that she found her true self, which is a truly delightful and daffy gal!
-
I am VERY tired and it's VERY cold. I may have to go take a drive until it heats up here.
-
Happy Birthday, Rodzinski! Have a lovely dinner at Rosa Mexicano-a favorite of mine. Have you tried their pomegranate margarita?
Welcome home, bk. Thanks for bringing the California sunshine. It is now cool and rainy in the York of New.
-
Sounds like a great time was had by all. I can't wait to see some pics!
-
Oh my gosh, that is very sad news about Don Durant...gosh dang but I liked that guy! Although he was best known for JOHNNY RINGO that man could sing! He did some albums with, I think it was, Ray Anthony's Orchestra.
I met him on one of my trips to Los Angeles at the Ray Courts Show and he was still very handsome, and he even belted out a song for me!!!
He was on my list of people to interview and I had kept meaning to e-mail him to request an interview over these last several months, but just hadn't had time to do so.
(http://i23.ebayimg.com/01/i/03/ac/8b/d9_1_b.JPG)
And of course he starred in SHE GODS OF SHARK REEF!
-
And a big Happy Birthday to DR Rodzinski!!
Just got off the phone with BK. What a time he had! elmore, I hear he and you laugh and laughed until you could laugh no more and then laugh some more anyway. I think Rodzinski has to post a photo of his beautiful lady...In fact, everyone must post their pictures to share with us poor slobs who were not in attendance.
-
It's finally starting to heat up in this ice box. I might go get something to nibble on.
-
Oh, and I finished going through the rest of the book on the plane ride. Lots of typos caught, and lots of little things to smooth out, but I was actually pretty darned pleased with what I read.
-
DR George - Are you on the Sondheim listserv? There a bunch of people who recorded the whole event, and are offering to make copies for people. So...
I am! I've actually started downloading an MP3 file that one person posted (he asked not to publish the link...and I won't). I'm starting with the first hour, which is only 54MB, but it will take about an hour and a half! For the first hour only! I'm assuming that he has a free website and that's why it's taking so long. Fine with me. Just as long as I can get at least the first hour without any trouble. That has all of Sondheim's early stuff that I've never heard...nor heard of. ;D
-
Yes Mr BK is over Lake Michigan...he flew someone north of me.
And boy are their arms tired. :)
-
We're going to have a high of 70 today, so I am quite thrilled about that. I should be able to get in a walk at some point today.
Here in Olympia (and Western Washington), it's quite windy. Very blustery...windier (is that a real word?) than it's been in a long time. I hope the power doesn't go out! :o You never know what can drop on a power line. ::)
-
When I saw the commercial for the first time, it made me want to vomit on the ground! I can't imagine anyone who is a fan of the original being remotely interested in this. :P It sounds like a one joke sitcom stretched out much, much, much (that's three muches) too long.
-
AND VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DR RODZINSKI!!
-
I'm not interested in a remake of GUESS WHO'S COMING TO DINNER or any other film that was done right the first time. It's only when things were botched (like the first two versions of THE MALTESE FALCON) that a remake is in order.
-
Okay, downloading the Sondheim files is not taking as long as I though (and was displayed on the download dialog box). It's only been about 50 minutes and I'm about three-quarters of the way through the second hour!
-
I couldn't decide on the movie for this afternoon, so out came CSI: MIAMI again, now on disc 3.
Reading bk's take on VIRGINIA WOOLF reminded me I haven't seen the film in awhile. Maybe I should pull it from the shelf. I really do think it's a masterpiece.
-
And one for Mahler.
-
Got some lox and bagels.
-
I went through my Virginia Woolf script. There is one significant change in act one - the use of a four letter word instead of "screw" and I'm here to tell you "screw" is better.
Act two has lots of nips and tucks, the most significant, as I've said, the ending of the act, wherein four or five pages are gone.
What is all of this WELCOME BACK stuff?
Did somebody goes someplace to see someone???
Don't know, TCB!
I haven't read anything special here, except stuff about a new cd by Debbie Boone!
:D ???
I've been invited to dinner to a friend who I met through ushering, so I have to get ready for that. I also want to fix my kitchen table chairs. The supports between the legs are breaking (and have been since shorty after my sister bought them...she gave them to me when she built her new house) and I'm too cheap to buy whole new chairs. I am going to go to Home Base and see if they have some kind of brackets that I can attach to the legs to hold them all together. I don't care how it looks, just as long as it works. As Jose says: Laters!
Yes, Dorothy in search of the Wizard of TomovOz... but that's pretty old news!
;D
Just got off the phone with BK. What a time he had! elmore, I hear he and you laugh and laughed until you could laugh no more and then laugh some more anyway. I think Rodzinski has to post a photo of his beautiful lady...In fact, everyone must post their pictures to share with us poor slobs who were not in attendance.
DRPogue, to a certain degree, I think you and I are the HHW bookends on each coast to our friend BK. You get to spend more time with him than I, so right now the West Coast laugh rate is higher. I swear, though, I tried to bring the quotient up on this side of the country. Our BK was in rare form the entire time! If the three of us ever end up in one spot together, we will probably laugh and laugh until we plotz.
Yes, DRRodzinski's lady is a beauty, as all the DRs will see when these numerous photos land. There wil be a plentitude of pulchritude.
Perhaps the HHW reality tv show shouldn't be a wedding but a beauty contest; all the ladies I've met on HHW are beautiful.
-
The happiest of birthdays to our DR Rodzinski!
What a time all y'all had! Wonderful to hear all about it, and looking forward to being able to join in all the fun one of these days.
I think PennyO should revive her show in Seattle and/or Portland when she returns to this corner of the world, don't you agree TCB/Ann/George/JMK/Jane/MBarnum? :D
-
I'm VERY tired. Has Ann caught up? I think she's about a week behind.
I can't even remember the word of the day.
-
Dear Reader Elmore -- Toujours El Moore!! --
Tonight, I've acquired a cd for which you've done orchestrations!
Three songs for Mr Ethan Freeman, the original "German" Jekyll;
With You,
The Impossible Dream
and Morning Glow!
You had to know that!
(I'm thrilled)
-
Wonder why nobody has mentioned anything about BK's new hair colour!!
Wonder why?! (Must be all envious!)
-
Today's word could be.... VERNACULAR!
Bruce's hair looked fabulous! Some of us age, he youthens. DRMichael Shayne should be checking in soon, and I've heard nothing from DRDanise. Perhaps she left the rink with both legs intact? DRWFOrr was seeing Dame Edna today, and I've just pulled myself from a 90 minute crash.
I second that motion!!
Dr George, the weather here in Salem has been very windy also...my back yard looks like the aftermath of one hell of a party! One which I wasn't invited to but that I have to clean up after >:(
-
Hummmm... could BK be a new Dorian Blond? I mean Dorian Grey!? :D
DR Danise might have found a Texan Oil Tycoon at the rink; Chita might have been there too... at the rink!
As for Liza....
;)
Vernacular!
I am not a week behind, or even a day behind. I have caught up, and have enjoyed hearing tales of the New York adventures. I do wish I could have joined you fine people for the partay last night. I agree with DR Jed, Penny should bring her show to Seattle!
-
Time for me to head to the Subway...
Do you prefer it to Quiznos?
We missed dear reader Ann, along with all other dear readers who were in their own home environments playing tiddly winks.
I've been lying on the couch. Usually I only tell the truth on the couch, but today I felt like lying.
I'm VERY tired. Did I not do a word of the day? Don't make me go all the way back to page one to find out.
WARNING: I will be posting the notes early tonight, because I've got to be in bed by nine or ten - the Floor Men are coming early in the morning and I have to get some sleep or I'll end up getting sicky-poo.
Today was meet-those-mysterious-people-you-met-on the-Internet-day.
Last evening I had a message on my machine from a lady who had seen the pups' pictures on the PetFinder.com web site and she said she was interested in Baxter. I said I would be willing to bring him for a "visit". She lives about 1.5 hours away in Newark (DE not NJ) and said she would meet us half way - I suggested a Service area in the Interstate about 15 minutes from her home, and she agreed. (I can imagine a single Mom might be reluctant to give some disembodied male voice directions to her home and open the door with greetings.)
S Woody and I donned our gay PetFinder.com apparel (me in the purple seat shirt, he in his gray ball cap - well, actually my ball cap since Fletcher had snacked on his Saturday evening). With a sneaky plan in mind, I suggested we take Mom and both pups.
We rendezvoused relatively un-eventfully (we were in the same parking lot, but had trouble finding each others car - I got out of mine to get a better look and she said "I think I see you on the phone" - I waved, she waved, etc, etc.
We pulled up near her car and the Lady and her 4 year daughter, Hillary came trotting up to visit the dogs. Peggy went bounding out of the car on my side, Woody got Baxter out of the car on his side, and Benny jumped out on his own. Baxter promptly hid under the car while mangy ole Benny went bouncing over to see the new people. Peggy circled around and went and greeted everyone like the nice bitch lady she is. Baxter joined the party and there was lots of dog hugging and petting. Mom asked Hilary what she thought, I Hilary (Bless you child) said I want him, pointing at Benny!
Fine said Mom - I explained we needed to do a home visit to make sure they didn't serve puppy as cuisine and she invited us to follow (I even let the kid take Benny in the car with her!). We got to her apartment complex and I took Benny's food/water bowl and squeaky toy along for the trip upstairs. 30 minutes later I was on my way, application filled out, check in hand. Benny was learning how to jump off their couch and looking forward to spending bedtime with the family.
Sign...all in a day's work!
Note to self: "Buy cheaper leashes if you're going to leave them with the dog!"
. . . under the rink?
... or... under the (d)rink(s)!
Sorry, Liza... I'd do anything for a joke! :)
Where are pictures? I WANT PICTURES! Was BK just too busy giggling with elmore to take any pictures?! WHERE ARE MY PICTURES? I WANT THEM! NOW!
Lovely day in LA. The Lovely Wife and I took a walk and visited some open houses...are favourite Sunday afternoon occupation. Looky-looing. We shall now abscond to the jacuzzi with a bottle of Champagne. Then spend the resto of the evening with DEADWOOD.
DR Rodzinksi,
Hope you are enjoying your birthday, and I will take you up on your offer of a copy of RAGE OF THE WEREWOLF, if you can find one. Just let me know where to send the dough!!
I did locate GREY SKIES, but it would seem that your films are much easier to find in England then here!
-
Well I am back in Florida and had a wonderful time. Thanks to Ben and Larry for being wonderful hosts. I want to come back to NYC real soon and spend so more wonderful time with them. Met up with an my old friend Gary who joined the gang at Angus. I will now catch up on the notes and post some wonderful photos from the reading. There is also a video which I will have dubbed onto a DVD later on in the week when I return to work. For the nest two days I will enjoy the company of my neice, nephew and sister who are visiting for the next week.
-
Rodzinski HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
JRand it is my mind I have lost, not the video. :-[ ::)
-
DR Jane - A lot of the places I listed offer small bites and portions of food. So... However, whatever you don't finish, I'd be more than happy to consume. Waste not, want not. Waist not, walk more!
LOL-you will be doing a lot of consuming, but then I'm sure you can handle it. ;D
-
Had a wonderful chat with DR Elmore this afternoon...he filled me in on all the goings on this weekend! What a great time I missed!
I tell you as soon as that Blue Airline comes to Oregon I will be planning my own journey to the big apple!!!
-
François thank you for the very interesting stories of Rosemary Clooney and Debby Boone. I also just happened to be listening to my new Rosemary Clooney Memories of You CD.
MBarnum, not much of interest arrived in the mail yesterday.
Elmore I feel the same way about Lee Remick.
-
Dr George, the weather here in Salem has been very windy also...my back yard looks like the aftermath of one hell of a party! One which I wasn't invited to but that I have to clean up after >:(
;D ;D It is also windy and chilly here with rain on and off.
Penny should do her show at the Ashland Cabaret Theater. She has done it in Seattle.
-
Sww & DeBrucer congratulations on finding Benny a happy home. Thanks to you both he will make a good addition to their family.
-
MBarnum, not much of interest arrived in the mail yesterday.
Uh, oh...then either the mail is awfully slow between Salem and Ashland or something has gone terribly awry!
Hmmm...I was hoping to help you get your Peter Brown fix! Maybe tomorrow.
-
I'm VERY tired, but managed to get through The Incredibles without falling asleep. I'm going to upload the photos I took and see if I can post them.
-
Not only was it extremely windy in Portland last night (and today), the power went off last night. I discovered quite by accident that if one peruses HHW at 2:00 a.m. PST, one is quite alone in the world. :'( Shortly thereafter, the power went off. Are the two related?
This morning when I drove to my church gig, there were branches all over the road. Going up Bull Mtn. Rd. in Tigard was a total challenge--there were huge piles of debris everywhere that I did not want to drive over.
May I just say that I am totally outraged at this pandering Republican attempt to inject itself into the Terry Schaivo case. These self-righteous a**holes who rant and rave about individual responsibility and states' rights until it's not going their way just totally appall me. Thank you for letting me vent
-
I, too, am very tired, BK. I only got about 4 hours' sleep last night and then was up at the crack of dawn to play two music-intensive Palm Sunday services. Even a nap this afternoon hasn't helped much.
-
Good Evening!
I just got back from a wonderful dinner with DR WFO and his ever lovin' Joe. We met at Barrymore's, and were waited on by the one and only waiter who was working tonight - working ALL the tables. Thankfully, they weren't at all busy, so the service was not too lax.
We had a wonderful time talking and catching up on things. And it DR WFO jogged my memory in a big way. He mentioned that we had tried to meet for dinner sometime before, when I was in town for some Sunday In The Park with George auditions. Hmm... Well, the last time I played auditions for that show was for Arena Stage... Back in 1996! WOW!!
On the subway ride back up to Washington Heights all the details started coming back to me... I was up here for a week... The audition schedule was changed once we got up here... We had to cut one off the schedule at the last minute... And because of that, I also lost a hotel stay day... And that, of course, was the evening that we were supposed to meet for dinner.
So tonight's dinner ended up making up for the one that got postponed almost nine years ago! WOW!
It was well worth the wait. And Thank You, Will and Joe for dinner. *And, hopefully, I'll have some good news for you in the morning. :)
Here are some photos: First, our signing partay, taken at the very end when some people had already left.
Good Evening! Part Two!
Well, lo and behold, we had a wonderful matinee today. Great house. There was a father with his three teenage girls who came to see the show. During the Q&A, he asked Penny for any advice she could give them in regards to pursuing a career in show business. Penny was very gracious and funny, and basically said, "Follow Your Heart."
It was a great way to finish out a most wonderful week of shows, and a great follow up to last night's great show and post-show gathering.
-
From left to right: Jose, Rodzinski, Rodzinski's beautiful girlfriend (her name just won't come into my head - forgive me), William F. Orr and his ever-lovin' Joe. In the foreground is vixmom's DH.
Good Evening! Part Three!
And, yes, I found the bakery I passed yesterday. I picked up a sfinge and sfogliatelle. Sadly, there were out of zeppole. Ah, well.. Next St. Joseph's Day.
;)
-And the sfinge was amazing - true decadence! Puff pastry filled with gobs of chocolate-chip cannoli filling, and garnished with a strip of candied orange peel.
...The sfogliatelle awaits...
;D
Oh, sweet fat gut o' mine! I am loaded with food. The mushroom steaks at Rosa Mexicano were excellent. We were so full after dinner, all I wanted was a Twix. There is a new dark chocolate version out right now.
The miracle of low expectations. ALL SHOOK UP, the Elvis musical, was really one of the more entertaining shows I've seen of recent vintage. Now I'm a cynical theatre goer, but the cast was really talented and skilled. The book was much better than I had the right to expect. The lead guy was just a star in the making. Great comic presence. The arrangements were enjoyable. The songs were not over-sung in the current Broadway tradition, just on the mark. I also liked that many of the Elvis songs used are not the most commonly heard ones. All told, a fine entertainment that will probably be critic-proof. The audience was totally enthralled.
The only quibble was one I often have. It seems every musical comedy must feature a large-sized black lady who sings one gospel-ized "showstopper". It just seems like a cliche to me.
-
As for tomorrow...
I have to do laundry, but I'm leaning very heavily towards dropping it off at the wash 'n' fold around the corner. I only have one Gristede's bag each of whites, colors and blacks. So... We'll see.
I may just make tomorrow another free-form day. However, I'm thinking of taking the A Train down to 125th and walking around Harlem (just like in the song!) for a while. I never explored the neighborhood.
Then head downtown for a bit.
Then call DR elmore. ;)
Etc., etc., etc.
Did you like my buddy, Mark Price? He plays the nerdy second-lead. -Hmm... Maybe I will try to see that Tuesday night or Wednesday afternoon....
Dag-nab it. That means I have to take out the black psychiatric nurse's big belter in Act II of Starcrossed: "Jesus Has The Key to Unlock Your Straitjacket." >:(
-
Which, of course, Beyonce sang (in Swahili) on the Oscars. :)
-
I just tried to post a photo and it wouldn't take. Someone else try so I know if it's the site or something I did wrong in converting the photo. I've written Mr. Mark Bakalor and asked him to do a photo purge, but if you're a regular photo poster it wouldn't hurt to go nuke some earlier stuff.
...And glad you had a wonderful Birthday Dinner!
¡Feliz Cumpleaños!
-
Welcome seven GUESTS.
One of our GUESTS is someone named Vernal Equinox.
-
I just got off the phone with Danise. She didn’t go ice skating today due to the weather and plans to go tomorrow.
Rodzinski she sends you birthday wishes.
Jose, Danise can only post but not really read them so I passed your message regarding tomorrow along to her. She doesn’t have your phone number. If you want her room number at the hotel email me.
-
He is quite funny as well. All the leads were near perfect. The beauty of the book is that it never takes itself seriously.
-
Thanks for the update/info. I have her cell phone, and I'll try her in the morning. Hmm... Jose on ice skates. Not!
:P
-
DR Michael Shayne - Glad to know you made it back home safe and sound. Enjoy the time with your family this week.
-
All my photos are of the old-fangled kind that have to be developed somewhere.
JMK, perhaps if you move that number to the first act??
MBarnum- I'll see what dvds I can't scare up for you. I think the director owes me some freebies.
-
Who is Vernal Equinox and why is she saying those terrible things about me?
-
Thank you, thank you for the pics!
I do hope I'm not offending anyone if i say that i find that Ben and Anna make a very nice couple! Yep!
-
Who is Vernal Equinox and why is she saying those terrible things about me?
I think it's probably a he (perhaps from Appalachia)--Vern Al Equinox.
-
I think the hottest couple in the photos is elmore and Jonathan. Woof.
-
Why can't I see Jane's photo anymore? Oh Hell, I really mean: Why can't I see Keith's photo anymore???
-
I'm VERY tired.
-
Whew! He's They're back!
-
Go to sleep, go to sleep, go to sleep (ooh, a Burton Lane-Alan Jay Lerner reference).
-
I think the hottest couple in the photos is elmore and Jonathan. Woof.
LOL!
-
Hello all you dear people out there in the dark
I have not caught up, oh no , I ghave not caught up. I have been running hither and thither and thither and hither since I awoke at 8 am, so I shall catch up and then post ...try not to leave before I get there! ;)
-
OK.... need to take care of some organizing and stuff... back in a few.
-
Trying a photo. ;D
-
DR vixmom - I hope you and your hubby had a very safe and uneventful drive back home tonight. The next time I'm up here for more than a few days, we'll have to get together again. -Have I told you that I have some connections with "American Girl Place" yet? -Or is that something you'd rather not know about.
;)
I would be quite interested in knowing about your American Girl Place connections. Can you, for instance get me a reservation for three at brunch next Saturday morning, we were told n places were available.. ;D
Seriously now, were you at all involved in with their show? The Vixter and I went to see that last year and we were quite impressed,
I would also be interested in you connections with the Armenian Girl Place, for instance, are their dolls , unlike the American Girl Place, priced at a cost slightly less than a new Volvo?
-
Well that worked, for what it's worth.
FROZEN was okay.....but there was a wink link in the acting trio.....
-
Happy Birthday, DR Rodzinski! Hope you had a day filled with cake!
Congratulations, DR SWoody and DR DerBrucer, on getting a home for Benny.
-
A Good Sad
Der Brucer and I got up early today. We had some travelling to do, with dogs in tow.
The destination was Newark, Delaware. We were meeting a young, divorced mother and her daughter. They had seen the pictures of Peggy and the Brindle Boys at Petfinders.com and were interested in Baxter, the larger and healthier of the pups. Der Brucer, thinking ahead, had decided to take Peggy and brother Benny as well.
Der Brucer talked Navy stories on the way up. We were both avoiding the fact that one of the pups might not be with us for long.
So after the drive, about eighty minutes or so and two toll booths, we met Mom and Daughter at a very public rest stop. It's better that way, at first, to make sure the people we're meeting are comfortable with us as well as we being comfortable with them. The Mom was very nice, and Daughter a pert four-year-old, very focused on meeting the pups. As it was, we got Baxter out of the car first...and he immediately decided to hide under the car! Peggy went with der Brucer, giving Mom an idea of any inherited personality traits (Peggy is a loving wonder) and an idea of how large Bax would be when he grows up.
Then the wonder occurred. Daughter didn't care that much for Bax...but immediately took to Benny! And Benny seemed to like her, too!
There really was just one more step. Part of the adoption process is a check on the home environment. There really wasn't any reason not to go ahead and do that immediately, so we followed Mom in her car to their apartment building, and der B went in with the family for the "inspection."
I thought it would be a good idea to take Peggy and Baxter for a walk. Once out of the car, Peggy made a beeline to the stairs she had seen der B walk up before entering the building. It took a minute or so to convince her that she couldn't follow, and should tour the parking lot. We made one circuit of the lot, and then again in the other direction. We went back to the car, and a little later der B showed up with filled-out paperwork and a check to cover the Animal Rescue group's expenses.
Everything about the apartment was fine. The Mom was fine, the Daughter was fine. And Benny seemed interested in his new environment.
It was as fast as that. We turned the car around, and headed for home. "The daughter did have one question," der Brucer told me. "She wanted to know if she could call Benny 'Baxter.' I told her of course, he's her puppy now." He smiled when he said that.
We listened to a CD on the way home, talked some. It took Peggy a while to realize that Benny wasn't going to be with her any more, which bothered her for a while. Baxter has been hanging close to her. And the rest of the day has been a little sad for us.
But it's been a good sad.
-
Thanks again to all for the great Birthday wishes. It was a good day indeed!
Pogue, if you haven't yet, you must meet DR Ben's Anthony. This guy knows tons about '20s music, and has a huge collection of 78s.
-
DRs SWW and DERBRUCER - Thank you for sharing your "good sad" story.
-
I caught up!!
We drove into the city and were waiting in the lobby for WFO & Joe to meet us (we had their tickets) when in walked bk, as we walked past I called "Bruce?" and he turned around amd I told him who were were and we had a lovely chat awaiting everyone else.
-
Dear elmore greeted me witha big hug and I had the joy of sitting next to him at dinner.....
I'm too old to be adopted elmore, but can you be my big brother?
-
DRs SWoody and DerBrucer: I understand well your feelings. We did it many many times over the years.
-
It was a great pleasure to meet and chat with Rodzinski and to meet his very beautiful Gal.
Everyone was delightful.
But who is Vernal Equinox and why is she saying those terrible things about me?
I'm so tired I can't even see straight. My fear is that if I go to bed at nine I'll get up at three.
-
Well I finally caught up with the posts. I really had a great time in NYC. What a wonderful group of people this HHW family are. I am now going to post some pictures from the reading.
-
PennyO's show was wonderful..what a voice!!
I can assure you all that the book is fictional, Penny's thighs are the size of tooth picks and her entire body weighs less than my left foot.
If you haven't already, I urge you all to read the book....
when are YOU going to record a CD..I'd buy it!!! BTW, could you please tell me the name of the song you sang last night, I couldn't quite catch it over the roar of the crowd :)
-
The exhaustion must be catching. I nodded off during the last twenty minutes of LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT, and I never do that! I recorded DEADWOOD to watch tomorrow night at 8.
-
Why can't I see Jane's photo anymore? Oh Hell, I really mean: Why can't I see Keith's photo anymore???
Keith said he’s flattered.
-
Enjoyed the pictures. Thanks for posting them.
I spent the late part of the afternoon watching episodes from season 9 of FRIENDS. And then I've got Season 2 of GREEN ACRES to get through!
-
The night flew by so quickly I did not get to talk to everyone I wanted to ... I am afraid I did not work the room I sat on my buttcheeks and hung on every word dear elmore and bk and Rodzinski spoke
Dear Danise, I did want to chat with you so much longer and suddenly it was past midnight and where did the evening go?!! My humble apologies and I shall punish myself by dreaming of Bonnie but never more asking for more than the occaissional ride.
We hope to be able to see Ben's DP Anthony in his showcase which will be the end of April through the beginning of May
We have to check the dates with you again because the Vixter just got called to day to play an Indian in the local (Babylon Village) St James Street Players production of Peter Pan and it runs the last weekend of April and the first weekend of May
(A friend of mine and her husband and their three sons are all in the play and when a couple of Indians dropped out they called to see if she could come in as a replacement, so she showed up at rehearsal this afternoon.. and the director said okey dokey and she started in rehearsing, no lines just a song and acouple of dance numbers as well as the requisite fighting of pirates of the like)
The show opens on her birthday , and the times of the performances means that she will not be able to have her birthday party that weekend or ebven the weekend after. (Fortunately it was too soon to start sending out invites)
When I explained the schedule to her she said "Who cares about birthday parties when you can get a chance to be onstage!"
Oh dear Penny....I think I brought home your bug :D
I must admit it has been a couple of years since I played that tape, I just checked and it was sold in 1990...and of course being a tape I can't just pop it in the machine and check out the song listings.. maybe I'll stop by the library tomorrow and see of they have the soundtrack in their racks....
-
Well it has been a long day and now I am off to sleep.
-
Hey, DR Rodzinksi... Any plans for tomorrow or Tuesday night? After the appointed dinner hours?
Is there a Rufus equivalent in this neck of the woods?
-
DR MBarnum - I had every intention of popping in that Bollywood movie tonight when I got back from dinner, but what I thought was the DVD/movie in my bag was not the movie. :( -Now it may be hiding, but I didn't spot anything during my earlier excavation.
-
The DH took some snaps, let me see if I can get them to post
-
Let's try Rodzinski and the Gal
-
DR elmore - Can we/you/I plan on dinner tonight/tomorrow/Monday night? -It looks like I'll be seeing a show Tuesday night after all.
Or if you still need another quiet evening, then maybe lunch downtown later in the week? Think about. I'll check the board in the morning, and call you too.
Thank you, one and all, for all of the reports and photos of the New Yawk weekend. I know it sounds impossible, but I am afraid that we in the Pacific Northwest are going to be topping your weekend very soon. In fact, I predict, that within the the next week, Jed and Ann and I will be getting together for ice cream....and maybe even dinner!
Eat your heart-out East Coasters!!!
-
I think PennyO should revive her show in Seattle and/or Portland when she returns to this corner of the world, don't you agree TCB/Ann/George/JMK/Jane/MBarnum? :D
YES!!!! She could do the "Aound the World With Hainsies and Kimlets Tour!!"
-
Dr George, the weather here in Salem has been very windy also...my back yard looks like the aftermath of one hell of a party! One which I wasn't invited to but that I have to clean up after >:(
:o It kind of sounds like some of the roads that I had to drive on today...but fortunately, the roads weren't quite that bad, though.
-
Wonderful photos, everyone-
thanks for sharing!
Regarding "Virginia Woolf"
Kathleen Turner was interviewed in the Sunday NY Times.
She did not ask the producers to hire a separate matinee cast as they did in the original Broadway production.Instead, every other week, they'll reduce the schedule from 8 to 7 performances.
"Not to be there feels like cheating," she explained. "And it just seems wrong not to offer,well, me."
-
BK et al - Did you catch this article in yesterday's NY Times about your buddy, Rupert Holmes?
http://www.nytimes.com/2005/03/19/arts/19swin.html
-
Oh, Brantley gave Woolf basically and out and out rave.
http://theater2.nytimes.com/2005/03/21/theater/reviews/21wool.html (http://theater2.nytimes.com/2005/03/21/theater/reviews/21wool.html)
-
But who is Vernal Equinox and why is she saying those terrible things about me?
:o What is she saying??
-
Hold tight while I change to our new topic.
There is no predicting Brantley, is there? But, that's what makes horse racing. I suspected the critics would be fooled by this one - but anyone who has ever seen a first rate production of this play with powerhouse actors will know that something is amiss here.
-
And he doesn't mention the changes to the text, which makes him a complete idiot in my book.
