Stop the World - I Want to Get Off
They're Playing Our Song
-
Today, I have no plans other than to ketchup on TV and do some laundry. I also want to burn a couple more Blu-ray discs of programs that I've recorded. Then, it's back to work tomorrow.
-
But first, sleep.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
This situation with BK's daily notes is getting to me amd really pissing me off. This were fine until two weeksa ago, and now every morning is an effort to find the daily notes. Safari is ridiculous: it still downloads to Feb. 14, and it's touch and go if the day's notes will show up in the archive. Opera will only load in if I delete the previous day's history.
What the fat hell caused this issue?
-
I refuse to honor President's Day as long as this fat orange slug squats in the White House and tries to establish his Fourth Reich.
-
Today I must do a little laundry, finish up my tax work, and put things away. The major advantage of doing launbdry isa that I can tote recyclables and other trash to the basement on my various and sundry trips.
-
DR JohnG, I read about MIDSOMMAR when it was released. It sounded to me like a variant on THE WICKER MAN and it was very clear this was a movie I would not be watching.
-
BK, how did I miss the news about your directing APPLAUSE? I wish I liked the score more than I do.
-
DR TCB, I've been meaning to ask this for some time: how is the name of your town pronounced?
-
Good morning, all.
-
BK, how did I miss the news about your directing APPLAUSE? I wish I liked the score more than I do.
I missed it, too.
-
The lyric “Partly Jane Fonda and partly Jane Austen” has renewed meaning these days.

Must get up for work.
-
I’d rather stay in bed.
-
Thankfully it’s a work-from-home day.
-
Yes, Fred, I have a house.
-
Good morning, all.
-
BK, how did I miss the news about your directing APPLAUSE? I wish I liked the score more than I do.
I missed it, too.
Moi aussi. I don’t think he dropped it before, that sneaky boy.
-
My notes are back to behaving again on the iPad. Doesn’t seem like there’s any logic to who’s affected and when.
-
Good morning!
-
T.O.D.
A CHORUS LINE
A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC
MACK & MABEL
EVITA

I think I had PROBITY last year and DR ELMORE had it last week.

APPLAUSE!!!! I have heard the LP and I saw the TV version....or some of it ... couldn't get into it... I guess I need to see the BK version.
I just don't like the story much without Addison.....
-
Two!
-
The laundry is in the dryers and I need to make the bed and clean up several messes Annabelle has created.
-
Because that's what the maid does.
-
I refuse to honor President's Day as long as this fat orange slug squats in the White House and tries to establish his Fourth Reich.
I personally am honore Abraham Lincoln.
-
One quick refresh on my tablet and the notes opened to today.
-
Newspapers.com is free until midnight MT tonight.
-
I’m honoring William Henry Harrison.
-
He died in 30 days.

Here is it from The Simpsons’ POV:

Where is everyone today?
-
Monday afternoon greetings! Slow start for me today, after sleeping in until 9am.
-
Is it to late to go back to bed and sleep in some more?
-
I had to do some training courses we all have to take. I hate them. They put me straight to sleep

I have some DAR online courses I should be doing and this would be the perfect time for them, since I’m immobilized. Just have to work up the motivation...
-
Waiting on the super to replace the tiles in the bathroom that the plumbers removed to fix the faucet. He called about an hour ago, so where is he?
-
I've put the tax things I'm taking tomorrow into my bag and put all of my receipts into a storage box. 2019 taxes are finished. I hope I get a nice return.
-
I have forgotten my password to newspapers.com and the reset email has not arrived after 2 hours.....most irritating.
-
Have I told you about the time a friend at the North Shore box office got a call for two seats to see Dorothy Collins in "Applesauce" - oh, wait, I may have told that 50 or 60 times.
-
I'm off to the airport. LaGuardia this time.
-
I keep forgetting when I watch the Tv version that Bacall then was a lot younger than I am now.
-
He died in 30 days.
He should have worn a coat & hat at the inauguration.
-
Monday afternoon greetings! Slow start for me today, after sleeping in until 9am.
9:00, sounds heavenly.
-
I woke up at 5:00.
-
I am also honoring our first president.
-
I had to do some training courses we all have to take. I hate them. They put me straight to sleep
Did they offer food that you couldn't eat?

DR George do you know anything about checking out eBooks through an app called Libby? I saw the following on my library Overdrive:
Meet Libby.
Did you know your local library has thousands of ebooks and audiobooks?
You can borrow them, instantly, for free, using just the device in your hand.
Get the app for your phone or tablet!
-
I have been googling info on Libby.
"Libby is a new app released by OverDrive. It has the same collection of titles as the OverDrive app - it's just a different way to access the same digital library collection. ... OverDrive is the “classic” app, and is compatible with more devices, including Kindle Fire, Macs, PCs, and Windows mobile devices".
-
From what I have been reading I will stick with Overdrive.
-
From what I have been reading I will stick with Overdrive.
Why not try them both and see which you prefer? They might have a slightly different selection. I'm surprised that you haven't heard of libby as it has been around for quite a while. I know some people greatly prefer it.
-
I too am surprised this is the first time I noticed the Libby option after reading how long it has been around. I am still doing a bit of research to using it on my Samsung vs a Kindle. The downside to the Libby I have read is that I can't adjust the brightness which might be a problem.
-
Since I have 4 library cards Libby would probably be better for me, except that I like using my computer, which doesn't hurt my shoulder, to put holds on the books.
At some point in the future I might give Libby a try.

They’re excellent sleep aids.

Good to know.

Hello, everyone.
-
I did laundry today, paid several bills, took out the trash, and stopped for enchiladas. John G would be pleased.
-
BK, how did I miss the news about your directing APPLAUSE? I wish I liked the score more than I do.
I don't think it was mentioned here. I knew because BK mentioned it in a phone conversation.
-

I hope you do, too. I'm having to rethink some things now that I must take a RMD from my IRA.

Aren't these online courses?

Not much, DR Jeanne.

Overdrive yes. Got rid if Libby
-
Thanks John. I watched a couple of Libby videos and now I have a headache. Maybe it means I should pass on Libby for now ;)

Not much, DR Jeanne.
I am sorry. Vibes you begin to improve.
-
Oh, yeah - I'm up.
-
Was up at eight after only four hours of sleep. Went back to bed around ten and slept until two-thirty. Have been doing book stuff since. Went to Gelson's and got stuff to make sandwiches (turkey). Ate two, and now I'm listening to music and writing notes on the new act two scenes from the musical I'm working on.

Back to Howards End. Kenneth Lonergan's teleplay unfolds in a way that Robert Altman or Howard Hawks would have liked. Some of the scenes involving the younger brother are delightfully full of people talking all over each other in hilarious ways. Hayley Atwell is charming. And it's fascinating to see Matthew Macfadyen grow from Mr. Darcy to the elder Henry Wilcox.
-
Well, I did practically nothing today. No laundry, no TV watching, only one Blu-ray copied...so practically nothing.
-
DR TCB, I've been meaning to ask this for some time: how is the name of your town pronounced?
If Tom doesn't mind (and if he does, it's too late ;) ), it's pronounced pyoo-AL-up. It's as if they just put the letter y in the wrong place for some reason.
-

I don't use Libby, or even the OverDrive app, so I don't know too much about it.
-
From what I have been reading I will stick with Overdrive.
Use what you know, I say...especially if this Libby app might not be compatible with as many devices as the OverDrive app is (according to OverDrive's Help Section, Getting started with the Libby app (https://help.overdrive.com/en-us/1307.html)). What's the point, then??
-
I have finished Howards End. What a nice bit of storytelling with some amazing greens in the English countryside. Exceptionally beautiful. I want to see the James Ivory version again now. I had forgotten a few of the details at the end.
-
I've started watching The Farewell.
-
But first ...
-
Four!
-
I need to get to bed.
-
Hi, George!
-
Good night, all!
-
Hi, George!
Hi, John!
-
Good night, all!
Good night, John! Sorry I missed you!
-
I went downstairs to feed my cat and myself, and take my evening meds.
-
And now, I'm back upstairs for now.
-
From what I have been reading I will stick with Overdrive.

Gratuitous Post #100!

Yes, "pew" is another way to spell it phonetically.

So, one thing that I did do today was take the video file that I made of Bette Midler's Divine Madness that I used for my Blu-ray and convert that to a single MP3 file so that I can listen to the entire concert at work tomorrow.
-
The whole thing (including the usher talk at the beginning of the movie) is 1 hour and 33 minutes.
-
The officially released soundtrack was just under 44 minutes. :o
-
That's less than half the length!
-
What's that all about?? Did they learn nothing from Follies??
-
There is one song on the soundtrack ("My Mother's Eyes") that wasn't in the theatrically released movie, nor the commercially released VHS or DVD.
-
On my Blu-ray, I added that with a static picture as a bonus audio track. :)
-
When I made an MP3 of the whole soundtrack, I also made a WAV file so that I can edit that into tracks and make a complete soundtrack of the whole movie.
-
If I can find where "My Mother's Eyes" was supposed to be in the concert, I can add that and hopefully overlap the applause so that there isn't a break...hopefully.
-
There is a video on YouTube of the song that was from the film, but it was never released.
-
I have no idea where the poster of the video got it.
-
I've very low quality, but watchable.
-
That video is also shorter than the song that was released on the official soundtrack.
-
THAT VIDEO (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v87-Kwkc_6Y) is 1 minute and 43 seconds long.
-
The song from the soundtrack (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsbB6EbF-wk) is 2 minutes and 27 seconds long, and has a middle instrumental not on the song in the video.
-
I'd read somewhere that the soundtrack had included some studio work, so I guess that was one part where they edited it for the album.
-
I don't know what other songs include studio work.
-
I don't think that I have the official soundtrack, so I can't check.

-
Well, at least we got to Page 5. ;D
-
What is this ridiculous number of postings?
-
This is completely unacceptable in an unacceptable way.
-
If you get my meaning.
-
And I'm quite sure you do.
-
This is most unseemly.
-
The WUSSBURGERS had struck.
-
I am fed up but only because I haven't stopped eating all day.
-
I also haven't stopped coughing all day.
-
Well, that took ten seconds to post.
-
Most unseemly.
-
Where is TCB, for example?
-
I can't even.
-
I can't odd.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
I am a majority of one.
-
And I'm jiggy with that.
