Well, you've read the notes, the notes were shrouded in secrecy, and now it is time for you to post until the shrouded in secrecy cows come home.

Next week, we're going to start learning music...virtually. :o That's going to be an adventure.  The show is supposed to run June 12-28, so there's plenty of time to learn things.  They're also going on the assumption that things will be better by then.  Hopefully they will!!

I made one huge mistake this morning: I fed the pigeons on the fire escape, and the cats were more fascinated watching the birds than eating their breakfasts.

At the moment on the CBS This Morning recap of Little Hitler's press conference and promotional/propaganda video I'm listening to that ass Trump call reporters fakes and declare as dictator that he has full authority to determine all things.  I wish the press would turn on him and declare him a fraud, a liar, and all-round nincompoop.

Since the only thing I figured Fred Meyer would have these days that Safeway wouldn't was my ice cream, I tried to convince to Keith to skip Fred Meyer.  Next time we will only go to Safeway.

There is such a difference between the two stores.  We feel stressed and exposed at Fred Meyer.

Safeway is basically a one way street, beginning with the entrance & ending with a different exit.  All the staff wear masks.  They have someone at the door sanitizing the shopping carts and limiting the number of people who enter.  We got there a little after 8:00 and didn't have to wait to enter.   I asked a worker if there were any wipes or sanitizer.  She had me wait, went into the back and returned with a can of Lysol spray.  I don't like Lysol spray but it isn't any worse than the Clorox cleaner we are spraying on paper towels.

Back from banking.  Car almost didn't start this morning.  I guess I'll just let it play out and then call AAA and get a new one - this one's now three years old and may still be under warranty, but if not I'll just get one anyway.  It starts fine once you drive for ten minutes.

They brought me bananas, pecan sandies, White Zinfandel, and Butter Pecan Ice Cream.....Breyer's....

So I don't have to worry about shopping for a week or so.

My plan today was to order from The Smokehouse via Grubhub or Door Dash - fish and chips and a small order of garlic cheese bread.  But they are not doing it anymore, which leads me to perhaps believe they have just shut down rather than do takeout.  I could call and see if they'll do pick-up, but I think I'm right.

Instead, I did Stanley's - but rather than the hugely caloric grilled chicken pasta with cashews that I usually get, I got their great Chinese chicken salad and some mac-and-cheese.  I learned instantly that their mac-and-cheese is not for me - it rather tasted like vomit.  But the salad was GREAT.

For those who think disinfecting every item they get from the grocery store is the way to go, some rather sane advice:

Many shoppers are now following elaborate routines to disinfect their groceries, thanks to a viral video put out by a Michigan family doctor. But all of the experts we spoke with say that disinfecting and hand-washing every last item in your grocery haul is really not necessary. You might find it comforting to know that none of these experts are doing this themselves.

Rasmussen explains that the probability of getting infected from a contaminated surface is not zero, but it is fairly low. That's because respiratory droplets would have to have landed on the exact spot on, say, a box of cereal that you are touching. And even then, you'd have to get enough residual virus on your hand to start an infection — and you'd have to transfer that virus to your face. Bottom line: If you follow good hand-hygiene practices — washing your hands after unpacking your groceries, before cooking and before eating — then, she says, your risk is probably "very, very low."

As Aronoff notes, "Time is really on your side here." That's because as soon as the virus lands on a surface, it starts to lose infectiousness. "After 24 hours, the vast majority of virus is no longer infectious," he says. And after 72 hours, he notes that research has found the virus is trace or undetectable on most surfaces. So if you know that you're not going to use a can of soup for two or three days, he says, just put it away, wash your hands and go about your day. And one more thing: Make sure to wipe down your countertops after you unpack, using a household disinfectant registered with the Environmental Protection Agency.

If you're still worried and it's a food that doesn't need to be refrigerated, Graham says just leave it out for 24 hours.

I've been trying to support the little Mexican restaurant I like. Yesterday I went in for enchiladas. In the few minutes that I was there I spotted FIVE other customers. These days that's huge. I asked the owner if business was picking up a bit. He said no, that it's the same. I was there a bit earlier, so maybe that's why. But I do see more cars on the streets.

Lots of cars out today.  It's fine if they're just taking a drive.  I've read some things on Facebook saying that taking a drive is ridiculous and everyone should stay at home.  I don't happen to think getting in your car for a ten or twenty minute drive is dangerous, since it's YOUR car and, in my case and most of the cases I see outside, I am alone in the car.  What harm could that possibly do anyone anywhere?  I'm happy to hear explanations.

I don't understand why more restaurants aren't displaying big signs saying that they're open. A few are, and that really helps. You see them as you drive by. Many business owners are terrible about updating their websites. From some websites you'd have no idea that anything has changed. Louise's Trattoria, on the other hand, is sending out emails about their deals, which are often 2-for-1. I imagine they've had a lot of takers.

Really enjoying discovering the musique of Henri Sauguet, friend to Les Six - the composing group that included Milhaud, Honegger, Poulenc, Auric, etc.  They considered Sauguet the unofficial seventh.  But his music is much more accessible in its way, and his four symphonies are magnificent, including his eighty-five minute second.

I agree with you about driving. I see no problem with it at all. As much as I support social distancing, I feel that some officials have completely lost sight of mental health issues. Most people don't do well cooped up for long periods--kids, especially. It's important to get outside and get fresh air. I'd like to see the parks and beaches reopened. I don't think that was necessary as long as people distance. I don't mean crowded beaches--I mean one or two people.
