Well, you've read the notes, the notes told a tale, and now it is time for you to post until the telling tales cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: COPIOUS!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I had a very strange night of sleep. I was up and down between 9:30 and midnight. Stella was being very skittish and wrestling with the window blinds before she finally retired to the bathroom sink. Annabelle was being very needy and snuggled under the blankets in the crook of my knees. Thatch was very quiet.
-
After midnight, I had a long period where I couldn't get back to sleep. I took a Tizanidine and a Tramadol around 1:15 and flopped about for what seemed ages before passing out. Annabelle had by then retired to her bookcase aerie, and Stella was sleeping with me. Sometime after that, Annabelle and Thatch crawled into bed as well.

I had one doozy of a dream which clearly took place in Middletown OH. I was doing some sort of volunteer work at Mayfield School, where Randy went to elementary school, talking to the students about Sondheim. We went on a field trip by bus to the old McAlpin's store on Central Avenue and Verity Parkway. In a huge auditorium, all the students were learning about Sondheim and the principal called me down to talk to Steve on the phone and the class was going to sing one of his songs to him. The song was one I had never heard of and the principal said I would lead the students in it. The title was something like "Nobody Else," and all I could think of was "Nobody Else But Me." which is by Hammerstein and Kern. I woke while I was waiting for Steve's phone to pick up.
-
Amazon failed me on a delivery due yesterday for dishwashing liquid, so I need a trip to the corner bodega first thing this morning.
-
If Staples is open, I need to pay a visit there as well.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I am back from the corner bodega, which is hopping this morning. I went in for one item and left with it and a dozen others.
-
As soon as I make the bed, I will lay out the three charts I need to photocopy at Staples. They open at 10.
-
I actually had a good night’s sleep. I did have dreams that involved dancing, theatrical, not ballroom.
-
The bird is screaming for attention.
-
Good morning, all.

My big dream was more or less the usual about my past job, but in a different setting from the norm. We were in what I think was supposed to be a new structure somewhere in the wilds of Texas. (My former company was in Texas, but not in any wilds.) It was a large building with offices in front and the manufacturing facility out back, and I was still finding my way around, and it seemed to have only one bathroom which was to be shared by literally everyone. This seemed to have traded many of the elements common to these dreams for new and different ones. It was bizarre.
And somehow or other, our dear departed (four years ago) calico "Kali" was there. Or it was a cat that looked and behaved just like her, because even in the dream I knew it couldn't really be her. Again, just bizarre.
-
Rainy day today.
I forgot to report yesterday that gasoline is at $1.33 per gallon in this neck of the woods.

DR ELMORE the Dream-O-Matic 6000 says that your dream indicates that your knowledge of Mr S. Sondheim is encyclopedic and that someone will soon tap into it - perhaps paying you for a collaboration of some kind.
You may even be the first person to hear about a new song or project and be involved in some way.....or perhaps it is a revival...
You also need to teach your brother something so don't hesitate to express yourself about what is going on. You have thought of something that never entered his mind.
Also make sure you ALWAYS check your phone messages, something interesting is in the works.

DR JOHN G the Dream-O-Matic 6000 says that your dream indicates you need to follow your own ideas about how things are done no matter what plan is put before you.

DR Elmore -- I'm guessing you probably know Emily Grishman?
On a pure whim yesterday evening I signed up for a two-hour "webinar" (I'm not actually sure what the format is to be) with her this Saturday afternoon, about the proper formatting of Broadway scores. On the one hand, this makes no sense, because do I really dream of being a music copyist when I grow up? On the other hand: I have seen her in conversation on the web and wished it had gone on for hours; I have a passion for beautiful scores and would actually like to know more about what goes into them; and it will surely inspire me to dig into Finale better than I have. It's just a treat for myself that I sorely needed.
-
DR CHAS SMITH the Dream-O-Matic 6000 says that your dream indicates a change of work conditions or an improvement in how you usually do things - to your benefit. You are also hesitant about beginning something in a new way, but you should jump right in and enjoy the surf. Kali is thinking of you - she is now in her third life and looks out a window somewhere waiting for you.
-
DR ELMORE, DR JOHN G, and DR CHAS SMITH please each deposit $35 in my PayPal account. Thank you.
-
LOL DR CHAS SMITH you posted as I was writing.
-
I'm also intrigued by BK's shooting video of his hands to help Richard Allen get the proper voicings. I wonder if others do that. I'm no Richard Allen, not by any means, but I know the importance of voicings and can usually pick that element up easier than certain other things on the rare occasions when I've transcribed something.
-
I had just watched Miss Shirley Knight and many others in THE GROUP on Tuesday night on TCM.
It's a movie that I enjoy more each time I watch it.
And I am always amused to wonder which one of the actresses is the one the crew dubbed "two aspirin on an ironing board....."
-
My question for ASK BK DAY:
What is your favorite play/movie with a female ensemble cast (men can be included in the cast).....and what is the funniest murder mystery play you have read or seen?
-
The second part of that question can be for everyone....I really want to do a FUNNY mystery next season.....probably one set....
Several seasons ago we did DEATH BY CHOCOLATE which was a big success and is very funny.....
-
I'm also liking the frozen pizza idea, and I haven't had a frozen pizza in YEARS. My last time buying any (and always being at least a little disappointed in them, often a LOT disappointed) was twenty years ago.
I'm still amazed at how yummy those tacos were last night. We need our little treats in these "sheltered" days, and that sounds appealing to me. They're never all that huge, either, so mine own portions will be somewhat better controlled than usual.
-
Thank you, JRAND and the Dream-o-Matic 6000. That answer was better than Cats.
-
You’re payment has been included in your stimulus check.
-
Let’s move on...
-
Two!
-
LOL Thank you DR JOHN G......as per Dr Pavlov, I am salivating at the prospect.....but of course it is for naught again today.....
-
Good morning!
-
Thursday morning greetings! Believe it or not, I have a busy day today. At noon, Richard and I are "attending" a Miami University lecture about student unrest in the 1970s. Later this afternoon I have another Zoom practice session for Saturday's state-wide meeting and this evening a DAR webinar about researching women in your lineage. Maybe I'll do those things in 3 different rooms, just to pretend I've actually gone someplace.
-

I know Emily Grishman. I have worked with her and for her. Call me when she's dead.

Whoa. Must be a helluva story behind that. :)

Good morning.
-
Yesterday my daughter and I got takeout from our favorite local Mexican food joint. Then we went for a drive. That's about all we could do under the circumstances.
She had the day off from work and two cuddly kitties, so she spent the day the way she wanted to.
-
Which is the way it should be DR LAURA.
-
Egg salad has been made and will be served shortly.
-
Had a nap after lunch.
-
Hope I can get a short walk in later without melting.
-
It’s 88 now and getting hotter.
-
From DR Cilla:
I said for a long time that I thought our governor was stupid for not giving us a shelter in place order, but now I'm glad she didn't. The biggest pass time here seems to be going for a drive. People are staying in their cars or just standing outside with the people they arrived with, but most just drive through the parks, drive through the country etc. It's a welcome break from being inside
That is great people are being smart and not crowding the trails.
-
From Cilla:
I hadn't either. I think Stamps.com costs something like 17.00 per month, I can't remember exactly. All I know is that with the discount and not having to go to the post office it's worth it. It even comes with a free digital scale that goes into your computer so you just weigh the envelope and print it out on your printer and mail it.
If only I did enough mailings to make it worth this.
Normally I like going to the post office on a nice weather day. I have Keith drop me off on his way to the gym and they I have a lovely walk home.
-
Reading about everything DR CILLA LIZ has been doing made me need to take a nap.
-
It is 55 degrees and rainy here.
DR GINNY is doing a lot of computer travel today.
-
DR VIXMOM's numbers were shocking......
Today there are 13,039 cases - 706 deaths - 1256 cases in my county
-
I need a DEXA to test my bone density to determine if I need to treat my osteoporosis. I consider a test to determine if I need medication to prevent breaking bones is essential. Apparently is isn't.
-

It sounds like a lovely way to spend a birthday.
-
So which is a better term for these asses stirring up crap? This or "Covidiot?"
-
DR George, there are a lot of cool you tube videos with this camera. I can't wait to explore all the things it can do. I need to buy a good tripod before I try to shoot the moon
-
My nephew leaves New York today or tomorrow he said things with the funeral home he was helping out at are much more under control. They even had a sort of slow day yesterday. He's got to do quarantine so he's going to my mom's place at the lake. We plan to rent it out for the season, but the people who had it last year want a new dock first. That will take longer than 2 weeks, so it's cool. Adam doesn't think he has Covid but who knows, in any event it will be a good place for him to decompress. As a funeral director he said he's seen a lot worse in terms of condition of those who passed but the sheer numbers have really had an impact on him.
-
I'm slowly feeling better. That 12 + hour writing stint I did last week really wiped me out. Unfortunately, if I don't get going with the next project I'll have to do it again.
-
Like BK I'm finding I don't really know what day it is until I stop and think about it. I've also gotten into the habit of sitting down to work about 10:00 pm and working until 1:am or so and then not getting to sleep until 2 or 3. I hope I can get back to a normal routine at some point, although I kind of like this one
-
There are a couple frozen pizzas I like. Lotzza Motzza is my favorite right now. It's out of Wisconsin I think....lots of cheese
-
DR CILLA LIZ there is an asteroid passing over next week...maybe you can get some photos of that!
-
I'm up, I'm up - ten hours of sleep and now I really must get some stuff done, including a trip to the mail place in a few minutes.
-
Is it an asteroid a comet?
-
Three!
-
Happy Shakespeare's birthday!
-
I'm trying to watch Two Gentlemen of Verona, a play I haven't read. I tried to watch this DVD before, but I haven't been able to get into it.
-
I thought I read asteroid.....
-
DR George, there are a lot of cool you tube videos with this camera. I can't wait to explore all the things it can do. I need to buy a good tripod before I try to shoot the moon
Do you need a tripod for other photos? Those big cameras seem like enough to carry ;)

It sounds like a lovely place to quarantine. Can he get his groceries delivered to him or is someone stocking the house before he arrives?
-
That's an awesome camera, cillaliz. If I ever need to take photos again, I might look into that one.
-
Fifty four years ago, two days after Keith's seventeenth birthday, we became a couple.
-
From the beginning people kept saying it wouldn't last and we were too young.
-
That's an awesome camera, cillaliz. If I ever need to take photos again, I might look into that one.
I thought you took photos for your own enjoyment.
-
DR JohnG, I thought the musical of Two Gentlemen of Verona did a great job of clarifying the plot.
-
DR JohnG, I spent some time today looking up Brecht-Weill on youtube. There are a couple of complete performances of Mahagonny and Dreigroschenoper you might enjoy. I also found a complete performance of the BBC broadcast of Jonathan Miller's production of Candide for the Scottish Opera.
-
DR ChasSmith, let's just say the more important Emily Grishman got, the more unpleasant she became.
-
Speaking of dreams, I had one in which I was, for some reason, hanging out with a bunch of drag queens. They gave me my drag name. Meet Summer Sauv-age.
-
My question for ASK BK DAY:
What is your favorite play/movie with a female ensemble cast (men can be included in the cast).....and what is the funniest murder mystery play you have read or seen?
Funniest murder mystery play - maybe Rupert Holmes' Accomplice or Sleuth has some good laughs, as does Deathtrap. Favorite movie/play with females - hmmm - obviously The Women would have to be on there, but Steel Magnolias is okay and I enjoy Vanities.
-
Back from the mail place. It's almost ninety-five degrees out - lots of cars and the UPS Store with a line thank to every single person doing Amazon returns. Can someone here please explain to me this phenomenon where people are staying home, buying shit from Amazon they clearly don't need, then returning it. I do not get it. Happily, someone came and got my package slip right away because they're trying to be good about taking care of the folks who actually pay to have a box there, rather than these Amazon creeps, who are, by the way, ALWAYS the same people, from whom the UPS Store makes not a single penny. If the store began charging one dollar per package my guess is that this nonsense would stop instantly.
-
Very warm in the house but I can't deal with air conditioning when allergies are probably going to kick in.
-
My Instacart shopper at Ralph's has been texting me - having to make replacements for certain items - he said the frozen food bins are picked dry. The usual hoarders who keep hoarding daily no matter what. These bins are restocked three times a day. People are NUTS.
-
I'm holding off on food until the groceries arrive.
-
Shopper has had to replace Arrowhead water (I'm sure with Kroger's own), and the pasta brands I prefer with others. I would love to have photographs of the people who go there every single day and buy up everything. Gelson's does NOT have this problem, but Gelson's costs more. But I think after this I'm done with Ralph's forever.
-
He has now replacements for seven items out of fifteen. Pretty amazing.
-
I thought I read asteroid.....
I don't know
-
DR JohnG, I thought the musical of Two Gentlemen of Verona did a great job of clarifying the plot.
I'm back to it after a walk in the heat.
-
Groceries arriving in five minutes - we'll be interested to see what the replacements are, but at least he got eight of the fifteen things I ordered :)
-
I'm enjoying Two Gentlemen this time. I am able to pay it more attention. It's got parts that he did better in other plays. But this is amusing.
-
I came home to find a calico cat in the backyard. I had seen her before, but she hasn't let me come near. Today, she was back at the rusty old shed I have. She had a litter of kitties running in and out of the shed. Oy.
-

I must investigate.
-
Not here yet - now fifteen minutes past the texted delivery time with another twelve to go according to Instacart's own page.
-
They can't blame the traffic
-
Let's move on.
-
Four!

If only you got up early enough to go to senior shopping.

Did you ok all of the replacements?
-
Groceries arriving in five minutes - we'll be interested to see what the replacements are, but at least he got eight of the fifteen things I ordered :)
I guess not you didn't approve them.

:( I wonder if any feral rescue groups are still trapping and spaying. You might call one to find out.
-
They can't blame the traffic
;D
-
Groceries arrived, replacements were fine, and I made two scrambled egg, onion, and cheese burritos for food - super low-calorie and surprisingly filling.
-
I am glad you are fine with the replacements.
-
I like this man who is protesting the reopening of the Florida beaches.
-
Maybe he scared all the people away.
-
I ended up liking but not loving Two Gentlemen of Verona. The tone shifted a little too often for my tastes from comedy to drama to romance to whatever. He did better with the love story in Midsummer, the woman dressed as a man in As You Like It, the man with a dog in Much Ado, the foolishly strange lover in Twelfth Night, etc., but it's nice to see where so much of those stories or touches came from.
-
Gratuitous post No. 101!

I am sorry NY needed his services.
-
I think I'm going to take a bath and then get some sleep.
-
I've been reading a Harlem Renaissance novel called Romance in Marseille, by Claude MacKay. It's a shocker. Written in the late 1920s, the language is unapologetic about everything. His lesbian characters aren't suffering. His whores don't apologize for the life they lead. The pimps are low lifes, but not in need of psychological study. They're all there in service of the story. About the only thing the novel doesn't have is a genuine romance. And you don't really expect it.
-
I did go get gasoline yesterday at the full serve place. It cost $31 to fill the tank
-
$1.99 a gallon
-
Cilla your photos are fantastic
-
This morning I went to old people shopping at the BJs before work
-
This time there was a line for the old people too... they only let 10 people in at a time
-
I was able to buy tissues and napkins for the first time in weeks
-
I was quite pleased because I am nearly out out both
-
No gloves or masks though for sale though. Everyone , employees and customers were wearing them as well.
-
But I got bread, milk and eggs
-
A great deal more eggs than I wanted but I suppose they’ll keep
-
They only had 18 count of extra large and they were two packs so I have 36 eggs.
-
But at $5.99 all told it seemed to make sense
-
( and if Mom runs out again I can run some over to her)
-
I though I was posting but I don't see what I wrote.

I guess I'd opened up a second window for HHW???
-
I had planned to go home and unload my goods before work but I was so late at the store I had to rush right over because I was meeting someone to hand off the documents for a closing
-
Fortunately I had my handy dandy insulated bags in the bag of the van and I loaded everything in there and kept the heater off
-
It was quite chilly
-
In fact we had some snow flurries while I was driving to the office
-
I arrived with 15 minutes late but 15 minutes before I was to meet the title closer
-
We’ve been working with a client who was.....difficult, it’s the kindest description and I’d been working quite closely with the head of the title company
-
When the closer arrived we spoke through the receptionist window, each of us, masked and gloved, standing well back on each of our sides of the window,
-
I had left her package on a table in the reception area. She took it and left a blue cloth bag emblazoned with the name of the title co and told me the head of the title company had asked her to give it to me
-
Inside was several pads of note paper and 2 dozen pens, very handy. A lovely note, a nice sized box of Godiva chocolates (!) and two bottles of hand sanitizer!!
-
That was a very pleasant surprise!
-
My boss had called from Florida to tell me that he arranged for the local branch of the credit union to prepare all the checks needed to fund loan after the closing was completed and asked if I minded driving out to get them
-
I, of course, did not mind a bit so I called the branch to tell them I was coming (they are closed to customers, only their ATM is open since they do not have a drive through in this particular branch) and they said to have my license ready so they would know it was me
-
When I arrived at the shopping center where the branch is located it was eerily empty. That time of day it is normally chock a block with cars, there are 20 stores there plus a gym and the credit union branch and several restaurants
-
I walked up to the branch doors while a couple of people who were walking away called to me to tell me it was closed
-
Thanks! I know! I answered and kept going.
-
When I got to the door I took my license out of my pocket and held it up to the window and the manager came right over ( masked and gloved) and unlocked the door and stoid well back as I came in.
I walked away from the door and stood off on the side well away from everyone.
-
Then the manager brought the checks and left them on a table and backed away Then I took them and backed away
-
So there I was in a bank , gloved and masked while all the staff stood well away from me and watched me.... everyone completely silent
-
It was totally surreal, I felt like I was in a movie
-
Then while they all watched I took out my phone called my boss and verified all the check payees and amounts with him, he approved and I thanked everyone.
-
The manager walked over and unlocked the door and backed away.
-
I left and she ran up to pick the door once I was on the other side
-
I had a desperate urge to yell , stay down and don’t call anyone for 15 minutes!
-
But I resisted, yes, I resisted.

DR CILLA LIZ there is an asteroid passing over next week...maybe you can get some photos of that!
I've been looking at tripods so I can try or at least the moon. I'm still learning and there's a lot to learn
-
DR George, there are a lot of cool you tube videos with this camera. I can't wait to explore all the things it can do. I need to buy a good tripod before I try to shoot the moon
Do you need a tripod for other photos? Those big cameras seem like enough to carry ;)
The tripod helps for stability. When the zoom is all the way out it's really hard to hold it steady as it's heavy. You can stabilize for things like a quick shot of a bird without one but the best will be with one. It also can do wifi to a tablet and all sorts of things I'm not even close to trying yet.

Oh I'm sure his mom will either have it stocked or deliver or both. Both she and my brother have underlying medical issues so I don't think they'll get close, but they do a lot of facetiming in that family

Thank you Vixmom. I have and I will. They went sight seeing in the funeral home van today. LOL. They didn't have any extra passengers, but that's what they drove out there, so that's what they toured in.
-
Cilla your photos are fantastic
Thanks! You know I love the camera and will love learning everything about it, but it has also really brought on a lot of delayed grief over my dad. I'm hoping if I get a good night's sleep I'll feel better tomorrow.
-
I guess I'd opened up a second window for HHW???
Open a new window, open a new door.......
-
So there I was in a bank , gloved and masked while all the staff stood well away from me and watched me.... everyone completely silent
LOL, in normal times that would warrant the panic button being pushed!
-
Sounds like you had quite a day, Vixmom!
-
DR Laura, I could think of tons of places around AZ to use this camera. And it actually has a bird setting, I haven't quite figured out what it does yet as it doesn't seem much different from regular autofocus but I'll figure it out
-
One of the things I'm very frustrated about is trying to get things signed by clients in jail when I can't go see them at the jail. I have to mail them the stack of documents, then explain it all on the phone, then they are supposed to sign and initial and mail it back. I have yet to have a client initial all the places they have to initial before sending back and have yet to have a prosecutor willing to let them finish initialing when they arrive in court. It's madness.

Ok, I'm going to try to get some sleep. Lately I haven't gone to bed until 2 or 3 am and still wake up at 7:30 or 8:00. So I'm going to try to sleep more tonight. Good night

Can you get those stickers "sign here" " initial here". "Notarize here". That's what I use for these remote closings and contract signings

Half is in the freezer

Vixdad requested chili with the other 3 lbs so that will be done tomorrow

No gloves or masks though for sale though. Everyone , employees and customers were wearing them as well.
I like that people are wearing masks.
-
I mentioned to Bryan if there is a line at Costco to get in he should be able to use his ID and go to the front of the line. Fortunately he hasn't seen a line yet.
-
I am not really sure if all Costco stores are offering this to hospital workers on the front lines or not. I also read military people are included.
-
A great deal more eggs than I wanted but I suppose they’ll keep
Since eggs have a long expiration date we are keeping a carton ahead, just in case.
-
When the closer arrived we spoke through the receptionist window, each of us, masked and gloved, standing well back on each of our sides of the window,
You were well protected 😊
-
Inside was several pads of note paper and 2 dozen pens, very handy. A lovely note, a nice sized box of Godiva chocolates (!) and two bottles of hand sanitizer!!
What a nice gift. Which was more exciting the chocolate or hand sanitizer?

It's now a requirement by decree of our Governor Cuomo. Stores have signs , "no mask, no entry"

So there I was in a bank , gloved and masked while all the staff stood well away from me and watched me.... everyone completely silent
;D.
Funny, sad, and creepy.
-
I had a desperate urge to yell , stay down and don’t call anyone for 15 minutes!
:))

How much does your camera weigh?

Well it's 1:30 am and my iPad is down to 4% so I guess it's bedtime
-
Good night all

Cilla your photos are fantastic
Thanks! You know I love the camera and will love learning everything about it, but it has also really brought on a lot of delayed grief over my dad. I'm hoping if I get a good night's sleep I'll feel better tomorrow.
I hope it also gives you comfort doing something he loved.

Oh my. That process is bound to create problems but worth it to keep you safe.

I've written a little over half the commentary, but my brain is fried so more maybe later and finish tomorrow.

I know Emily Grishman. I have worked with her and for her. Call me when she's dead.
Whoa. Must be a helluva story behind that. :)
Larry, is that one for the memoirs? ;)

So which is a better term for these asses stirring up crap? This or "Covidiot?"

DR CILLA LIZ there is an asteroid passing over next week...maybe you can get some photos of that!
That would be cool!

I'm trying to watch Two Gentlemen of Verona, a play I haven't read. I tried to watch this DVD before, but I haven't been able to get into it.
I haven't read it yet, but I have on my Kindle, The Most Excellent Comedie and Tragical Romance of Two Gentlemen of Lebowski (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0042VJ1BW/). ;D

Fifty four years ago, two days after Keith's seventeenth birthday, we became a couple.
Congrats on your 54th Coupleversary, Jane!

I'll have to look for that Scottish Opera Candide on YouTube! I have the 22-track cast album (http://castalbums.org/recordings/Candide-1988-Scottish-Opera/3461/), and I really like it.
-
It's been years since I've listened to it, though. ::)

Did you know that there's a musical version of Vanities (http://castalbums.org/recordings/Vanities-2009-Off-Broadway-Cast/17673/)?

I came home to find a calico cat in the backyard. I had seen her before, but she hasn't let me come near. Today, she was back at the rusty old shed I have. She had a litter of kitties running in and out of the shed. Oy.
Pictures! We must have pictures!

I like this man who is protesting the reopening of the Florida beaches.

That's great!

This week continues to be shit.

My sister was rushed to the hospital today.
-
She is currently in the ICU.

I just recommended this as an Overdrive purchase request.
-
It is apparently Keto acidosis (or whatever the Hell you call it).

Her blood sugars are thru the roof.

Oh, no!!
~~~SUPER VIBES OF ALL KIND!!~~~
We will see how she is tomorrow.
Good night.
Good night, Tom.
I was going to go to Costco today to get some gas, but I forgot. ::)
-
I'll definitely go tomorrow. I've got about a quarter of a tank, but I don't want to let it get too low.
I haven't seen anything like that around here...yet.
