Well, you've read the notes, the notes passed the test, and now it is time for you to post until the testy cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: YLEM!
-
And a VERY happy birthday to the Vixter. I believe she's turning sixteen today? My how time flies :)
-
A Very Happy Birthday to The Vixter!! :D
-
A Question for BK and anyone else: have you ever had Schwan's Home Delivery (https://www.schwans.com/)? They've been coming to my work since I started working there in the 1980s. They're a little pricy, but not horribly so, and I've pretty much been quite satisfied with their food...especially their pizzas. :)
-
Today, last year's Metropolitan Opera production of Akhnaten by Philip Glass will be shown on the Seattle PBS. I wanted to see this filmed version when it was shown in the movie theaters, but I wasn't able to see either showings, and now I get to! I also need to go to work for a bit and bring in my work laptop so that a couple of programs can be installed on it. Ginny, one is OCLC. I have that and the other program on my work computer, and it would be very helpful to have them on the laptop that I have. Hopefully, it won't take long and I can just wait then take it home again with me.
-
And now, I'm off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
I don't know what Schwan's is - have to check it out.
-
Good morning, all!
-
DR TCB, where are you? I missed you last night.
-
I had two long bouts of being awake last night, but when I slept it was quite nice. I dreamed I was recording in Dublin with Rob Berman. I was eating a piece of cake that left crumbs everywhere. The recording studio was the space where we had orchestra rehearsals for the Utah Festival Opera's Greenwillow in 1998.
-
We were recording I Married An Angel, and I think the singer doing "At the Roxy Music Hall" was my beloved Kim Criswell.
-
Last night we finished watching Wolf Hall. Anne Boleyn's execution was very tense and nicely paced. I think I might try the first book - the miniseries was based on the first two books of the trilogy - and see how I like it. I'm still puzzled about using Wolf Hall as the title since the novels are essentially the life and execution of Thomas Cromwell, who was executed by Henry VIII - who later regretted it - for encouraging his ill-fated marriage to Anne of Cleves, but Wolf Hall is the name of the Seymour estate, family of Henry VIII's third wife.
-
Today I must pay a few bills and work on that composition I've been playing with for the past week.
-
Good morning, all
-
I’m struggling to get out of bed.
-
HA! I watched the Simply video this morning. Very nice....looking forward to the Sunday Show!
-
I used to listen to a lot of disco music on the radio on YLEM.
-
April 29 in Indiana and it is a rainy day.
-
Happy Birthday to the Vixter.
-
Vibes for the mother of DR CILLA LIZ.
-
Happy birthday, Vixter!
-
Would you believe?
Today is Sandy and my 19th Wedding Anniversary!
Actually, we've been a couple for 24 years, but only married 19.
-
I started reading T.C. Boyle’s short stories, After the Plague, last night. Dreamed of the story, Termination Dust, about the killing snows of Alaska and the people who choose to live there.
-
Happy anniversary, Druxy and Sandy.
-
Good morning, all.

I started reading T.C. Boyle’s short stories, After the Plague, last night. Dreamed of the story, Termination Dust, about the killing snows of Alaska and the people who choose to live there.
Have you read his wonderful novel Water Music?
-
I dreamed about PILLS last night. And about having to deep clean carpets and bedspreads and whatnot of all kinds of messes.
Um, I should probably listen to that second part.
There was something else leading up to all of that but it won’t come into focus.
-
I've finished kitty cleanup, taken the recyclables to the basement, and picked up yesterday's mail. When I came back to the apartment, I discovered that Stella has shredded another roll of toilet paper.
-
I’m surprised I didn’t dream about Jack in the Box. But now with today’s further mention of it, I probably will tonight.
Because ladies and germs, for the first time in years I am DYING for Jack in the Box.
-

I read about five or six of his books years ago, but haven’t read anything recently and I haven’t read that one. I like his writing a lot. His novel about Kinsey was excellent. Will look for Water Music.

I can’t feel that for Jack, which is just around the corner, but White Castle ... now there’s another story ... Sliders!
-
Happy anniversary, Druxy and Sandy.
Thank you.
-
White Castle always, DR John G. Now and forever.
-
I've just read that cellist Lynn Harrell died at age 76. No cause of death announced, but that's a shocker even though I wouldn't have the slightest idea whether he'd had any health issues. As far as I know, he's been active.
I knew him back in my Cleveland days, though I doubt we ever did anything together beyond playing in the school orchestra and opera and maybe chamber ensembles. Was he teaching then? I don't remember, but I'm sure I played in coaching sessions led by him.
-
Ask BK:
I browsed Jack in the Box's web site and wondered which tacos you're referring to, the tiny ones or regular ones. The latter are pictured with a slice of American cheese in them which is certainly strange. That wouldn't necessarily keep me from putting away a few, but it's one thing I noticed.

It's his picaresque novel.

Good morning!
-
I really enjoyed "Simply," BK! Looking forward to the Krizerland show!
-
Happy Birthday to the vixter!
-
Happy Anniversary, DR Druxy and Sandy!
-
DR Cilla stay healthy vibes to your mother and brother. I don't think any ER rooms are giving out mask. They are lucky to have supplies for the staff. It is possible they give them to people they suspect of having the virus.
-
It sounds like you are lucky to have Krista.
-

That’s like shredding hundred dollar bills, STELLA!!!!!!!
I'd said as a joke, that if they run out of toilet paper, just use paper towels. The markets are overflowing with paper towels even while the toilet paper supply dwindles.
I was compared to a certain person who said "Let them eat cake." I'm hoping a smiley was implied, but these days, you never know.
-
I tried "Let them use their bidet" - but made sure to add a smiley And an LOL.
-
I missed TCB last night.
-
Bruce I was actually sleeping last night.
-
In some sections and discussion areas, I'm now guessing "Comments are moderated for civility" really means "Comments are moderated for civility, so please try to keep civility to a minimum."
-
Happy birthday to the Vixter!
-
Unfortunately I only slept until 5:00.
-
Thanks for the French and Saunders link, DR JohnG. It was very funny!
-
A little birdie (and I don't mean Thelma Ritter) suggested that I'd better stop being truant about giving birthday wishes on sites if I hope to get birthday wishes.
The good news is that once I'm 60, they WILL be able to consider me eligible to take "The test" -
-
that means they can consider me, not they will next week - but they really said wait because it WILL be no while I'm 59. No joke!
-
ChasSmith, yes, those larger ones. They're odd and weird but there's something appealing about them.
-
And yes, I appear to be up after two hours of sleep. Going back to bed. I was restless because we've been doing these tests for my commentary for the show and I just hate the look of them. The idea is great - I sit at the computer like so much fish, have the iPhone on short sticks (the low tripod) which sits in the middle of the ring light. But the angle looks terrible, the computer light is adding very unpleasant light to the ring light and there's simply no way to make it look good. So, since I couldn't fall back asleep (yet), and disheveled as I am, I moved the set-up to the living room - there's kind of a counter there with bar stools. I put the camera on the actual tripod and kept that at its lowest position, but which is higher than the short tripod, I found the most subtle ring light setting that looked good, and got a bit closer to the camera and I must say the difference is quite radical in a good way.
-
But the issue is the commentary. I do the opening off book, but everything else I read. That was the one thing that worked perfectly being at the computer, because I'd position the commentary between the ring light and could scroll and it never looked like I was reading. Can't do that here - I could use the laptop but the screen is just too small and it throws off worse light than the desktop. So, I printed out one commentary, which sits at the top of the page. And I recorded a test and it kind of works pretty well. It's somewhat small for me and because I don't want my eyes locked on it, when I occasionally look up slightly, sometimes, depending on the length, it's hard to find my place. I may try enlarging the type and see if that helps, but the idea is not to have it go down to far on the page, if you get my meaning. And I've learned that even if I'm looking in the center of the iPhone, it in fact looks like I'm looking slightly off and that's because the camera ain't in the center of the phone, it's at the top, so I have to remember to keep adjusting to that. But that's why we're doing all these tests. I sent it to Hartley and if she likes it, then that's what we'll do. Back to bed for me.
-
I missed TCB last night.
I did, too.
-
I’m taking the afternoon off.
-
Let’s move on ...
-
Three!

You may recall I mentioned a friend of a friend who had been treated at Cedars Sinai with a new drug and immediately improved. I have been following news on the drug. The latest news continues to be encouraging and fits when I have seen it worked & didn't work.
Gilead says remdesivir shows improvement in COVID-19 patients when used early.

Wednesday afternoon greetings! I don't know where my morning went, but here I am. At 2pm I have a Zoom get-together with my Cincinnati-area retired librarian friends.
-
Happy 19th wedding anniversary to DR Druxy and Sandy!
-
Happiest of birthdays to DR The Vixter - we miss you!
-
And a VERY happy birthday to the Vixter. I believe she's turning sixteen today? My how time flies :)
I'm pretty sure she's 14.
-
Good morning.
-
Happy Birthday, Vixter!
-
Happy Anniversary to Michael & Sandy!
-
Happy Anniversary, Mr. and Mrs. Druxy!
-
BK, I just watched the lovely test song on Facebook and have one minor comment. The times should be Pacific Daylight and Eastern Daylight if you want to be totally accurate. Or do like the TV networks and just say Pacific and Eastern.
-
Finding the right balance vibes for MR BK.
-
BK, I just watched the lovely test song on Facebook and have one minor comment. The times should be Pacific Daylight and Eastern Daylight if you want to be totally accurate. Or do like the TV networks and just say Pacific and Eastern.
I do this ALL the time, for myself as well as others. I have never learned which is which, and doing it this way you simply don’t have to give it any thought. Ever again. :)
-
Thank you all for the birthday wishes for the Vixter
-
I too thought she was about 16 but she claims to be a married woman 11 years older than that
-
I’ve been very sleepy lately not sure if it’s the grey days we’ve been having or lack of activity
-
I dozed off right after work
-
Woke up around 7 made and ate dinner, cleaned up and then dozed off again
-
I rarely remember dreams these days but I woke up about 2 am with a doozy
-
In the dream I went to someones beach house, located on one of the barrier islands south of Long Island.
they didn’t answer the door. It was night and the lights were on so I went around back to see if they were in the yard.
The sliding glass door was open so I went in, I saw a knife on the floor so I picked it up and put it on the kitchen counter calling the persons name ( I have no idea who it was now)
I rounded a corner and found them dead, apparently stabbed to death.
I grabbed them and tried to resuscitate them , covering myself in blood
Then I heard police cars coming, panicked and ran out and hid in the bushes
-
Then I remembered my car was in the driveway
-
Then I woke up
-
I have no idea where that came from, probably all the crime shows Vixdad has been watching
-
Well back to work
-
Better tell Vixdad to get back to the Russian car crashes!
-

Let’s move on ...
-
Four!
-
I'm up again - four more hours of sleep, so six altogether. I was more awake after two, frankly.
-
Thank you all for the birthday wishes for the Vixter
Me too! Me too!!
Happy Birthday, Vicky!
-
My phone hasn't rung all day and I got two calls at once. The important one I was on was about unemployment payments for the self-employed, which I need to plug into. The call I really wanted to take was from a dear friend I've not seen in years, so I need to call him back.
-
Here is the right YouTube link for tonight - at least this link worked fine last night: https://www.youtube.com/user/haineshisway
-
Same time?
-
And if you're doing Facebook it's: https://www.facebook.com/KritzerlandUpstairsatVitellos/
-
Yes, 8:00 pacific daylight, 11:00 eastern daylight. Is that now worded correctly?
-
I called my friend back and we had a nice conversation. I haven't seen him in years. He and his wife Sue, who dated actor John Davidson when they were college students at Oberlin, were two of my very dearest friends in the early 1970s. Sue fought a long and hard battle with cancer, and after her death in 2016, we lost touch.
Charlie must be 77 or 78 now, living in Albuquergue with his two sons and their families. His daughter Jennifer, for whom I occasionally babysat and who was the first diaper I ever changed, lives in Woodstock.
-
Watching The Muppets Take Manhattan. One of the people stars is Elmore's favorite director, Lonny Price. It's not my favorite Muppet movie. But it was mentally about where I'm at today.
-
11 p.m. tonight......I hope I am still awake.
-
DR VIXMOM you probably know this already......but if you put your stuffed peppers in a muffin tin they won't fall over as they bake.
-

Perfect!

Lonny Price is a wonderful actor and I wish he'd go back to it and stop being a second rate director. He and Jason Alexander were the best things in the original production of Merrily We Roll Along. His "Franklin Shepard Inc." was amazing.
-
Had a fun Zoom chat with Cheryl, Paula, and MaryEllen. We were all greater Cincinnati library administrators in the late ‘70s/early ‘80s, representing the University of Cincinnati, Xavier University, Northern Kentucky University, and Miami University. Everyone’s healthy and coping pretty well.
-
I baked chicken breasts with button mushrooms for dinner and it came out quite nicely.
-
I discovered yesterday that back in my profligate spending days I had purchased a Rock Hudson-Doris Day package of three movies, so tonight we will watch Pillow Talk, which I have never seen.
-

I've never been to White Castle (none anywhere near Washington state) but I've gotten their frozen sliders from the store. They're not bad, but not fabulous. I can only imagine what they would taste like when purchased fresh from the restaurant.

DR ELMORE Pillow Talk as discussed here last week is a very funny film....and many films followed its lead - but it was the first.....and Doris and Rock are dynamite!
-
Akhnaten has finished.
-
But there's still another half hour to the broadcast. They're now doing a "Backstage at Akhnaten" segment.

DR VIXMOM - the Dream-O-Matic 6000 says that your dream indicates that you are conflicted about working when others are not - but it is so embedded in your DNA that you cannot imagine NOT working.
You want to be helpful to others who sometimes do NOT want or appreciate your help and sometimes you wonder if it is worth the effort.
Yes, it is. What they think or say is sometimes the opposite of what you feel.
You are not hurting anyone else by living your life as you wish - so you should NOT change what you are doing. You can ignore the warning signs from Chicken Little - but be sure that you recognize the true origin of any such warnings this week.

Apparently today is national zipper day. I have learned they were invented in 1925, a fact I am sure I will immediately forget though I am very grateful for this invention.

Hello, everyone.
-
I'm not caught up on posts, so I haven't a clue what's going on.
-
Happy Birthday to The Vixter!
May you have a wonderful day.

Happy Anniversary to Druxy and Sandy.

I'm having trouble staying awake. I need a nap!
Stay safe.
TTFN.

DR VIXMOM you probably know this already......but if you put your stuffed peppers in a muffin tin they won't fall over as they bake.
I don’t bake my stuffed peppers, I use our family recipe which involves cooking them in a pot on the stovetop.

Wow! I thought it was from falling asleep in the recliner while vixdad watched crime shows!
-
Happy Anniversary Mr. And Mrs. Druxy
-
When I went into work to have a couple of programs installed onto my work laptop, I saw that my copy of Bagley's DeSylva, Brown & Henderson (http://kritzerland.com/desylva.htm) had arrived! ;D
-
I also saw that a CD had arrived for a co-worker who doesn't drive. He only lives a few miles from me, and since I had previously brought him another package, I offered to bring this one to him, too...and so I shall, now that Akhnaten is over.
Until later.
-
Akhnaten sounds like something I would have enjoyed. Maybe it'll be on the PBS website.
-
I am watching a Russian film called Prisoner of the Mountains. It's a political drama about the hatred between the Russians and the Chechens. Very harrowing. Engrossing.
-
Have spent hours finessing the singers and their tracks so it's all balanced correctly for Sunday - this is the part I knew would take some doing and that's proven correct. We're getting there. Ninety minutes to test 2 on Facebook and YouTube. Links are a couple of pages back.
-
Last night we watched ANOTHER THIN MAN.
-
Tonight we are watching SHADOW OF THE THIN MAN.
-
It's show time, folks!
-
Enjoyed the test very much.....nice story and a lovely song!
-
It makes me anticipate the show even more!
-
LOL DR VIXMOM.....just goes to show you.
-
I watched on youtube. BK disappeared -- and so did the link -- before he was finished with the song.
-
Guess I'll be watching it on Facebook Sunday.
-
On FB it kind of froze for a moment right at the end of the song. But I think it was all there on playback, maybe cutting off just a split second too soon.
-
But like I said last night, it was smooth and professional looking -- and sounding. Really nice. Let's hope it stays this way with more people and more variables involved. :)
-
So, it's supposed to "save" to that timeline but I don't see anything but last night's. Anyone else???
-

Yes. The sound was excellent. Loved the song.
-
Six!
-
So, it's supposed to "save" to that timeline but I don't see anything but last night's. Anyone else???
On the FB Kritzerland at Vitello's page, I see last night's but not tonight's.
-
Good night, all.
-
Yes, I now know the problem re it not being on the timeline - Hartley was on the page and changed some settings - which is why it also didn't pop up in the left-hand corner as it should do, so she's gonna put everything back the way it was. She was just playing with stuff to see what it would do.
-
Why it disappeared from YouTube for John is another story, as Hartley was watching it live there and it was fine right through to the end.
-
But that's the purpose of all the testing - to get the bugs out. Another one tomorrow nacht.
-
Akhnaten sounds like something I would have enjoyed. Maybe it'll be on the PBS website.
I haven't seen it there, yet.
-
I saw it after it was over . The only suggestion I have is to get the microphone closer to your mouth and further from the piano. On my IPAd at least the piano drowned out your singing
-
In the video there were no glitches and it played smoothly all the way through

AND, the email they sent me says right there, “Thursday, April 30.”

I only had 3 chapters to go.

I was recording the opera Akhnaten from one of my DVRs onto my computer and I had to swap my DVRs.

No. I forgot. :P
I'll watch it later on On Demand.

A couple of months ago, I misplaced my Kindle and had to use my older Kindle, and wait about 4 weeks before I was able to re-check out the book that I was reading. I still haven't found that Kindle. :(
