Well, you've read the notes, the notes were the living incarnation of a Nash Rambler, and now it is time for you to post until the rambling cows come home.

Today, I have an online meeting for work, but I also need to ketchup on reading my work e-mails.  I think that we're supposed to be doing that everyday, but I've only been reading them every other day or so. ::) I'll do that before the meeting.

I'm having a tough morning.  I'm moving quite slowly, and I am not waking up.  I don't feel sick, but I have a huge urge to get back to bed and stay there for a day or two.

So far today, Stella's behaving, and there's no sign of shredded paper anywhere.  I keep telling myself it's a phase she's passing through.  Thatch went through a period of eating paper, and then it was over.

I have no real plans today, once I snap out of this back-to-bed urge.  I could do laundry, although it isn't urgent and I was thinking about making pasta sauce, although that can wait another day.  I started my orchestration yesterday, and by the time I reached page 4, I had three cats lounging on my work table and offering orchestration advice.

The first car that I purchased myself was a 1968 Rambler American two door sedan - which I drove for probably seven years before it went to the car graveyard......

The speedometer's top reading was 120 mph.....and I had it up to about 103 mph at one time and the doors were shaking and seemed to be about to take leave of the car - so I didn't push it....

DR JEANNE - I received a call from the doctor's office last week that asked me if I would do the visit virtually.

I said yes.  She asked if I wanted to do it via telephone or computer and I chose computer.

She told me I would be sent an email with a link from DOXY at the time of the visit that would link me to the office.

They have a MY CHART system that gives me all of my test results, billing information, follow up messages, and all kinds of information.

On the VISITS tab, there was a check in link that I was to use on the day of the appointment.

Nurse Liz called me about an hour early yesterday and asked if i could do the appointment then and of course I said yes.  She sent me the email.  I clicked on the DOXY link and there she was.  It took a couple of minutes for me to make sure my camera was working....then she left and said Dr. Tsai would be on in a couple of minutes.

And then there he was....and things proceeded.  The purpose of the visit with him is mainly for the company that provides my ostomy supplies - so that my insurance will continue to pay for those.....

And so that was that.

Last night, I tried to watch the new DVD of The Song of Norway.  After twenty minutes of watching this mess, I turned it off.  The sound kept going from very soft to very loud, and the musical numbers of happy midget peasants frolicking over the fjords were outrageously ridiculous.  It looked like no one in charge knew what to do.

It stank to high heaven.

I remember in the first grade back in 1956, that we all got polio shots....I think just one.  I think we brought a dime or a quarter to school to pay for it.

We also got TB vaccinations....I think I had had a measles vaccination before school started.

I still have the mark on my left arm.  It always amuses me that in period pictures such as The Story of Peter often actors and actresses such as Martha Hyer have distinct vaccination marks on their arms.....

Just so you know:

There’s an unavoidable tug of war today between zodiac opposites, the Taurus sun and the super full moon in emotional Scorpio. When you dive into these intense and passionate waters, getting lost in the deep end is inevitable.

The full Scorpio moon likes to dare you to look at the darker parts of yourself, putting a spotlight on rebirth and transformation. This lunation encourages you to do some inner soul searching, and it warns you not to divulge too much to anyone you don’t trust. Positive breakthroughs are possible, but they should be private ones. When the time is right to show the world, you’ll know.

We were a Rambler family from roughly 1958 through roughly the early 1970s. The first few were Rambler Americans, and I don't know about the latter ones. At that point I was off to school and don't know what the models were.

Following that, they went to a mid-1970s Ford LTD which was probably the only time they ever had a typically large American sedan. At some point they downsized to a Ford Escort. I know the last car was a Hyundai Sonata. I might be missing one or two in the years I was only around for visits.

Re vaccinations:

I believe it was the smallpox shot that left the scar. Out here, girls got it in the butt; boys got it in the arm.

We got some of our vaccinations at school. They used the air gun for some of them. I have no idea what was in those.

I remember getting the sugar cube for polio. There was a big tile mural with lots of colors. We went up some steps to get into a room. Years later, I discovered it was the high school auditorium. I remembered it from when I was about 5.

My understanding is that they don't give TB vaccinations in the US. They do a skin test, though. We got that in 8th grade.

They didn't give the shot with whooping cough in it to adults, because adults were not at risk for whooping cough. It was just tetanus/diphtheria. It wasn't until several years ago when there was an outbreak in California that they began giving the three-part shot to adults. I had to convince my doctor to give it to me two years after the TD shot because at that time I was going to California several times a year and was around kids at church. Now it is routine, and they recommend it for grandparents. Pregnant women get it with each pregnancy.

They are planning to start opening the federal court soon and the state courts in July.   We do some things now, but the vast majority are being moved a couple months.  It's going to be a giant cluster when it all opens at once.  So, I'm doing my best to resolve everything I can now so it won't be a nightmare.

The weather is suppose to get really cold.   If it warms up, I want to paint the gazebo and try to get it all fixed up.  The old hardware store that used to fix the screens, broken tabs on my windows etc. closed their location near me for a number of years - now they have found a new location that is almost as close.  I'm hoping they can repair the gazebo screens for me...or refer me to someone who can build new ones.  I'd love to put combination windows in there, but it's just too expensive for a gazebo

The first car that I owned was an orange 1976 VolksWagon Super Beetle.  My parents bought it for me from friends of theirs.  I don't know how fast it was supposed to be able to go, but the whole car would start to shake if I drove faster than 60 mph! :o

What are they going to do to jurors who fear sitting in a crowded jury room and/or jury box? If they excuse everyone over 60, there won't be anyone left. And if they have juries without a segment of the population, is that grounds for an appeal?

I remember in the first grade back in 1956, that we all got polio shots....I think just one.  I think we brought a dime or a quarter to school to pay for it.

We also got TB vaccinations....I think I had had a measles vaccination before school started.

I still have the mark on my left arm.  It always amuses me that in period pictures such as The Story of Peter often actors and actresses such as Martha Hyer have distinct vaccination marks on their arms.....

Are you referring to this scar?  If so that is a scar from a smallpox vaccination.

I don't believe the US ever did mass vaccinations for TB.  I recall the 4 pronged tb test.

I am caught up enough that it's starting to drive me crazy that things aren't getting back to normal and we are so far behind everywhere else on the curve.  A lot of the time I love being home alone, but Sat. would have been my sister's birthday, Sunday is mother's day and DN Samantha's birthday and I'm stuck here.  The family pretty much agrees that it's better if I don't go there right now, but it's still nagging at me.

That's hard.  I hope you can video chat with them.

DR Laura my smallpox scar is on my arm.  Before we were married I worked for an allergist who gave the vaccination on the leg so the scar wouldn't be as noticeable.

Still too slow for my taste - they're checking but I've heard nothing back for the past thirty minutes.

I had problems yesterday.  Right now it is fine.

Cillaliz, do you have any clue what is going to happen with criminal cases? Are they going to have to drop charges because they can't get to trial in a timely manner?

No, they declared an emergency and based on that speedy trial is waived.  When they start back up, the in custodys will go first and they'll just keep going.  Federal court is the same, but they didn't put things off as far.  Most of the people being detained are just the most serious.  A lot of people are being released pending trial.

In state court here, we do pleas, sentencings and hearings on GoToMeeting. So really the trials are the only thing being put off.  In Federal court we still show up in person for sentencings.   If you have a signed guilty plea, here they are allowing a defendant to request the presentence report to be prepared and then the plea and sentencing on one day.   It puts things off for about 2-3 months

We're also doing depos on GoToMeeting.   I don't know what other states are doing, but the system in state court is working.  It will just be a total cluster when they open up again

What are they going to do to jurors who fear sitting in a crowded jury room and/or jury box? If they excuse everyone over 60, there won't be anyone left. And if they have juries without a segment of the population, is that grounds for an appeal?

Well, all that remains to be seen.  The Federal Grand Jury is starting back up on May 11th.  We're a real hot spot and they are going to have people from all over the district come here.  We'll see what happens.   The federal juries are going to start up here June 1 and state July 13.   I guess we'll just have to wait and see.  Not sure how you fit a jury in the box with social distancing.

Right now you have to have your temperature taken to get in the State court house.  The feds don't check that closely

The first polio vaccine was the the shot that was given. That was the Salk vaccine.  I believe children were given that shot two years in a row.  Next came the Sabin vaccine, which was given on a sugar cube.  Although Salk deserves a lot of credit for slowing polio, it was Sabin’s contribution that is credited for all-but-eliminating polio.
