Title: ANOTHER SCREED
Post by: bk on May 27, 2020, 12:42:50 AM
Well, you've read  the notes, the notes had another screed, and now it is time for you to post until the screed-spouting cows come home.

Today, I have no plans.  I probably should do some more laundry, so we'll see about that.  I'm pretty much caught up with my TV watching.  I do need to work on some Blu-rays and DVDs, so hopefully, I get my act together and get some of those done. ;)

DR Jane, yesterday morning Amy Cooper's employers had put her on hold.  By late afternoon they made the decision to fire her.  I suspect they were getting requests to sack her, and the incriminating video was probably the coup de grâce.

I suspect that one of the major reasons the Macbeths were so down on me in 2006 is because I was not in Ohio suffering through care for our dad as they were.  When he moved out of their house and moved in with Randy and Jo, I never heard a complaint from them about him.

Well MR BK what are you waiting for?  Go ahead and watch THE SAND PEBBLES.

I don't know about it being Steve McQueen's best performance, but he is very, very good in it.  Candice Bergen has her moments.  But the supporting cast really shines.

Walter Denton does a great job here.  And this is my favorite David Attenborough performance right up there with BRIGHTEN BEACH.

I also learned that actor Joe DeRida is not the same actor that was in the Three Stooges movies.

It's LONG but it's interesting.....slow moving.....but it gets there.

Fascinating obit of a film music editor who died at 99. She worked on some great movies, including Tootsie, but it’s her personal story that is captivating.

I have SAND PEBBLES guilt. I've started to watch it a couple of times, but apparently when I wasn't "into it" or in the right mood or whatever, and never continued.

Hmm. Checking now, it seems I didn't get it on Blu-ray. But I have the "deluxe" DVD set with the theatrical and what I guess would be the roadshow version. I've knocked a couple of things off the To Watch pile, so I'm going to add this one to it.

Larry Kramer has died.

He was a nice man.  I used to see him a lot in The Drama Book Shop.  I liked his politics and I thought his play The Normal Heart the most important play of the AIDS crisis.  The original production at the Public Theatre was stunning, heartbreaking, and brilliant.

I was at the Dollar Tree and WalMart this morning wearing my mask and gloves.

Bananas, green peppers, and potatoes at WalMart.  Plenty of PT and TP there, but I didn't need any.  I did get two cans of disinfectant spray.....and I got some Diet Pepsi in the can!  That is  as exciting as it sounds!

Thank you, JRand.

Early on in her too-short tenure, Leah and I were talking, and Alan Jay Lerner came up in our conversation. She broke into Follow Me from Camelot. Another time, a short while later, she started to quote Sondheim, and I was able to finish the quote. Apparently she went to high school with Megan Mullaly, though they haven’t kept in touch. You don’t often find bosses like that in the tech world.

Food should have been here around five-twenty but was slated for 5:29.  That didn't happen, so I texted the driver and said to make sure that the food hadn't been sitting there for fifteen minutes getting cold.  He never responded and of course when he finally got here the food was indeed cold.  I immediately contacted DoorDash and they refunded the purchase.  I ate it but it was yucky.

We do not wear masks when we walk.  Most the time we can keep our distance, or we quickly pass others.

Today, I walked to the local Meconi's Subs and no one got near me.  I only passed by one person on a bike (I was on the sidewalk and he was in the bike lane on the road) and one other pedestrian coming towards me who stepped out onto the bike lane to stay away from me.

Where did they go?

Dunno. But it was not just a walk. He was joking about a dance party. And I don’t think it was a joke.

What??  How dare they!! >:(

Ew! :P

My sub sandwich from Meconi's was still warm...not as warm as when it's served while sitting in the restaurant, but even though I walked there, it only took me 10 minutes to walk home, so it was warm enough.

Went to Ralph's to get a sweet - only about five people in the entire store - plenty of toilet paper and paper towels if you don't mind the Kroger brand, which I do.

I hope he has not put you at risk.

I haven’t seen these people in 11 weeks, thanks to working from home.

Good.  I just wanted to be sure you hadn't been around your coworker.

I expect it will be a bit busier when we go to Safeway in the morning during Golden Hours.

Since Safeway is from 7-9 we don't have to go too early.

I ordered my first delivery meal (other than pizza) today.  I used UberEats, just because I had them on my phone, and my niece some times works for them.

I ordered Mexican food from a place I had wanted to try anyway.  The food was very good.  It arrived warm, rather than hot, but what can you expect.

At least, you can reheat it.  I've never minded reheated Mexican food. :)

I turned down the offer for “no contact delivery,” but apparently the driver knew better than I knew.

It came sealed in a very nice aluminum container, and I was too lazy to transfer it to a microwave container, so I ate it warm.
