Well, you've read the notes, the notes were younger than Springtime, and now it is time for you to post until the older than rancid cheese cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ANFRACTUOUS!
-
Today, I have no plans, but I might do some more laundry. We'll see. Otherwise, I'll probably just work on some DVDs/Blu-rays, surf the web, eat, read, who knows? But first...sleep. 8)
Have a good day, all!
-
Guess I'll take a shower and go to bed.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Where was our DR TCB last night? I worry when he doesn't show, and I was very happy to see our DR vixmom back with us.
-
Stella began pestering me just before 5:30, and I got up just before the alarm rang at 6:00. I did sleep rather well, and I vaguely remember bits of two dreams, something about my Aunt Jean's house in Hamilton, Ohio, and a flight to London, I think.
-
I have much to accomplish before noon today. I've got a lot of things to take to the basement, and I need to pull the drawers from this broken down chest of drawers and cart the body of the chest to the basement as well. Zoria Ospina will deliver the chest I purchased on Craig's List around noon, and I hope everything goes well getting it into the building.
-
DR George, the company selling that cat quilt is Fabricaly and they are selling numerous cat and dog items on Facebook. I'm still waiting on their response to my inquiry. If they do not come through, I shall file a claim with Paypal.

Good morning, all.
-
I have little to report on this fine Sunday morn’.
-
Going to be a hot one today.
Not that that’s news.
-
Nice quilt, DR Elmore. I hope you succeed in getting it soon.
-
I have yet to watch one of those STARS IN THE HOUSE things.
I'm under the impression that they're available "live" only, and not archived for later viewing? I could look that up, of course. And maybe I will. Sometime or other.
-
So what's up for today?
I have to go to Home Depot for a few things.
It's going to be too darned hot to work outdoors, but there's always plenty indoors to catch up on.
-
In new news, we're going to be renting a dumpster soon, like maybe starting next weekend. Around here you get them for a week, and can extend if necessary.
I don't know what size yet, but this has been a long time coming. To start with, we have a decrepit old grill and a couple of other outdoor pieces that will be the first things in there. There's a little couch-type thing in the basement that's good for nothing and needs to go, along with a large room-size rug that it's been sitting on that's in terrible shape. There's an old bike in the garage that in my expert opinion isn't worth the effort to refurbish. I have a ton (like, about fifty years) of National Geographics from my family and another person that it would be a huge effort to even give away, so there's several more feet of space I'll clear. OMG, I think there's even an old TV and some electronics that are shot.
All of that will be done on the first day, and over the next few days we'll be going through the house and tossing other stuff. None of it's anything that's worth giving away, let alone donating. We've needed this for a long time. Can't wait.
-
All that's going to the basement so far went in two trips. As soon as I finish my breakfast and make the bed, I'll remove the drawers from the broken down chest, set them aside, and clear off the top. I can drag it our to the hall, but I don't think I'll take it to the basement until I've got the other one on the third floor.
-
I always liked it in REFLECTIONS IN A GOLDEN EYE when that guy called Julie Harris by the name ANFRACTUOUS.
-
Congrats to DR GEORGE on his PHASE 10 win!
-
Talking about younger than spring time.....today I begin the last month of my 60's.....one month from today I will be SEVEN-OH.
-
I was very disappointed in the Olive Films release of Carroll Baker's HARLOW - there is enough to be disappointed with there WITHOUT technical difficulties.
-
Nineties today - with thunderstorms predicted.
-
DR CHAS SMITH has interesting junk.
-
New chest of drawers and quilt vibes for DR ELMORE.
I think you can sometimes find some kind of maker's mark on the bottom of the drawers......so you can tell the manufacturer....
-
Good morning.
-
Four-mile walk finished. And I am in for the night.
-
Good morning, all.
-
ANFRACTUOUS stars in Forbidden Planet ...
-
Started watching 12 Angry Men. I love this one.
-
I watched Secret Beyond the Door recently. It doesn't add up to much, but it does have a couple of moments.
-
Two!
-
The old chest is in the hall, three of the five drawers are piled onto a chair, one sits on the computer table, and one's on the floor. The cats, of course, are being complete pains in the butt, no matter how many times I drive them away from the new space in the apartment they seem determined to fill.
-
John Saxon has died.....if it hasn't already been reported here....
Sad.....
-

Was Joan Bennett wearing Hedy's old hair?
-
John Saxon has died.....if it hasn't already been reported here....
Sad.....
Michael Barnum will wear black for a month. Or am I thinking of John Derek?
-
Sunday morning greetings! Richard has been to church in Dayton via Zoom and I've been to church in Springboro via Facebook Live, where our niece Rev. Amy performed a socially-distant baptism.
-
Good morning!
-
I have yet to watch one of those STARS IN THE HOUSE things.
I'm under the impression that they're available "live" only, and not archived for later viewing? I could look that up, of course. And maybe I will. Sometime or other.
DR ChasSmith----The starsinthehouse videos are all available to watch on youtube. The "playsinthehouse' are only available for 4 days. There are plays on Saturdays at 2 pm Eastern and Sundays at 2 pm Eastern (teen edition on Sundays).

Another one:

-
We had outdoor church this morning
-
I set my alarm and had all intentions of attending
-
But I was absolutely exhausted and decided to go back to sleep and watch the FB service at 10 am instead
-
I slept through that too
-
Vixdad finally awoke me around 11
-
He made a nice pot of tea and brought me some
-
After that I felt energetic enough to get up and moving
-
I made nice fluffy omelettes for our breakfast
-
Sautéed some red, yellow and green sweet peppers with some sliced grape tomatoes and thinly sliced shallots for the filling
-
Added a little Swiss cheese and allowed it to met before turning th3m out and spreading the top with a very light coating of Braswells summer tomato Visalia onion dressing
-
They were delicious
-
Of course accompanied by a fresh pot of PG Tips tea
-
Elmore, I hope your new dresser is delivered on time and is in great shape
-
Chas, I suspect that if I was put in a room with your 50 years of National Geographic magazines I would never be seen again
-
I watched Secret Beyond the Door recently. It doesn't add up to much, but it does have a couple of moments.
Was Joan Bennett wearing Hedy's old hair?
Always.
-
I forgot about Der Rosenkavalier. So, I turned off the movie and watched the first act. But I was so tired I needed a nap. Back to acts 2 and 3.
-
Chas, I suspect that if I was put in a room with your 50 years of National Geographic magazines I would never be seen again
Very good. Delivery will be between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm tomorrow. Someone will have to be home to receive the shipment.
-
The seller was fantastic. He knew from our communication yesterday that I was a gimp, so he carried the five drawers, two at a time, and the frame into my building, onto the elevator and up to the third floor hall. I've taken the old chest to the basement with two of the five drawers. Tomorrow I will take down the other three. At the moment I am completely exhausted.
-
Thatch wisely stayed out of the way, but Stella played in all the new drawers and it was an effort keeping her out of them before I filled them. I only have one complaint: the new drawers are about 0.5 to 1.0 inch shorter than the old chest. I can live with it.
-
I look forward to tonight's bath.
-
Page 3 Dance!
-
Congratulations on the new chest of drawers, Elmore.
-
Act 3 of Rosenkavalier is starting.

What's your literary horoscope?

Act 3 of Rosenkavalier is starting.
This opera is an hour too long, but the Act Two Presentation of the Rose is the best part of the opera. Act Three is a chore until the last 15 minutes.
-
I wish there was a way to capture these streaming operas. There are a few I’d like to keep around. At least the 24-hour window gives all but the busiest of us a chance to watch them.
Having said that, Fanciulla starts this evening and I might have to watch half tonight and half tomorrow.

I agree entirely. A tighter editor would have helped

I'm up, I'm up - ten hours of needed sleep.
-
I'll go to the mail place in thirty minutes.

This one, at least, has supposedly been released on Blu-ray and DVD. But on Amazon, it and the Buñuel film seem to have gone through the teleporter together. Most tragic.

Congrats to DR GEORGE on his PHASE 10 win!
Thanks, Jrand! They are few and far between.

There are ways to capture some streaming shows. Pretty much anything on YouTube is capturable (captureable?) otherwise it's hit and miss with other sites.
-
We just returned from a 5 mile walk to the market and back. It is 93 degrees out. We will not be talking a second walk today.
-
DR George I love your Star-Trek shirt and matching mask.
-
George, $80 out of pocket is a lot-sorry.

Okay, following a little investigation:
The composer's name is screwed up on Amazon, AND the listing is a BrundleFly version of the two works, so I wouldn't touch that one with a ten foot pole. Happily, it's readily available at the Met Opera Shop.

ChasSmith and John, the Blu-ray of the Met version of Exterminating Angel is available on Amazon here:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KBT4XXG/ (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KBT4XXG/)
-
I just ordered it. :)
-
I already have the Criterion DVD of the original Exterminating Angel movie, so it'll be fun to compare them.
-
Here's the DVD of the Met opera:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JYYJHX1/ (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JYYJHX1/)
Although, the listing says that it's a PAL Region 2 DVD! :o HOWEVER, when you look at the back DVD image, it says this:
"This is a region-free NTSC DVD, designed for playback on all NTSC and modern PAL compatible systems worldwide."
Whew!

DR George, no one should settle for a PAL version running 4% faster than actual speed when both DVD and BD are available from the Met.
Edit: Even if it is region free.
As for Amazon US, if you search on “exterminating angel opera” you’ll see the screwed up listing on the product page. At least I did, on two different systems.
-
Went to the mail place, came right home, and am getting ready to do some work.
-
I think we're going to lose Karen Ziemba. She wasn't doing anything when I asked her, but suddenly others saw she was doing our show and immediately asked her to do stuff. But she was out of town for over a week, wasn't communicating, said her video was in Dropbox (it wasn't) then finally said she's out of town all this week and is unhappy with the video she did so if we can't wait a few days she said to replace her. I told her we CAN wait a few days but that I'd need a commitment of a date we'll have it by. Haven't heard back, so I took the step of covering that slot, which I now have. If I haven't heard back by tomorrow, well, onward we go with plan B.

ChasSmith, I took the UPC codes from the pictures on the Met's website and searched Amazon, and those listings are what came up. Also, that note on the DVD ("This is a region-free NTSC DVD, designed for playback on all NTSC and modern PAL compatible systems worldwide.") is on the picture of the DVD on the Met's website, so Amazon should be selling the exact same DVD and Blu-ray that the Met is selling. I just think the Amazon listing got it wrong and really is selling an NTSC Region 1 DVD.

Gratuitious Post #100!

Darn. That's too bad, BK. :-\

After we hung up on our video chat with Freyja today their feed was still up. She got very excited seeing a large baby on the screen ;D
-
Awwww DR JANE that's sweet.
-
Almost 8:30 p.m. here and the temp is still 84 degrees......
-
Nothing happening here - and I like it that way.
Wondering what to have for dinner......time will tell.
-
She wrote back and is going to try to make it all work.
-
Finally finished with all my stuff. Whew! Eating tuna sandwiches now and listening to the delightful Schumann piano concerto.
-
Awwww DR JANE that's sweet.
Thanks.

Good.

That's great news.

Went to dinner with friends whom I hadn't seen since this whole pandemic began, well, except for a few drive-bys in the car. It was nice to sit down and share a bottle or two, some food and some conversation. I think we were still keeping enough space between us, even in their home.
-
Their dining area looks out over one side of their house where they have a hummingbird feeder hanging. The hummingbirds were just having a great time getting at that nectar. What a wonderful show.
-
She wrote back and is going to try to make it all work.
Great news!

Very good. Delivery will be between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm tomorrow. Someone will have to be home to receive the shipment.
Will you also be including a divorce attorney with that shipment? I will definitely be requiring one should I be so foolhardy as to accept delivery
-
So this afternoon I went to my moms and somehow got roped into cleaning her refrigerator
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
Since her house doesn’t have air conditioning (well we have placed window A/C units into a couple of the rooms but there is no way to do so in the kitchen)
It was darn hot
-
By time I finished about 90 minutes later I was wringing wet
-
Then she had several other small chores
-
Then she thought it would nice if I cleaned out the chest freezer in the garage.
-
I thought it wouldn’t be very nice at all
-
So I said I was done for the day and would consider the freezer at some other time
-
(Preferably when hell freezes over)
-
I may not have said that last bit out loud
-
At least not until I was driving away in my car
-
Tonight we watched Downton Abbey the movie
-
It was pretty good
-
Elmore I am happy to hear that you are happy with your new dresser and that the seller was so nice
-
Good night
-
Damn. I'm having problems with my Internet. :P

Bruno with a B doing Brahms with a B - fourth symphony. HIs versions of the Brahms symphonies are wonderful - both mono and stereo.

'night.

Maybe.

DR John I am glad you enjoyed your even.
Stay well vibes ;)
DR John, I am also glad you enjoyed your odd.

Damn. I'm having problems with my Internet. :P
Whew! It seems to be back.
-
Hello, Elmore, just checking in. I am off to bed soon.
-
Hi, Tom. How are you doing?
-
I thought I might turn on the A/C tonight for the first time since I bought the condo.
-
But after I undressed and was lounging on the bed, I realized that I was closer to turning on the heat for a bit, instead.
-
I ended up using neither.
-
DR John I am glad you enjoyed your even.
Stay well vibes ;)
DR John, I am also glad you enjoyed your odd.
Hmm, evening. ;D
-
Have moved from Brahms with a B to another B, Bruckner. While I have heard all nine of his symphonies I don't really remember anything about them. Now playing is the ninth in great stereo and certainly well conducted by Bruno with a B, so I'm enjoying it. Bruckner seems to be a real through-line to Mahler.
-
I ended up using neither.
I like not to need either.
-
Damn. I'm having problems with my Internet. :P
Whew! It seems to be back.
Good.

Good night, Tom.
