Well, you've read the notes, the notes were wild and wooly, and now it is time for you to post until the wild and wooly cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ADDUCE!
-
I don’t think I have ever heard of Dianne Reeves.
-
I don’t think I have ever heard of Dianne Reeves.
There are a lot of her videos on YouTube, even some full-length concerts.
-
Here's one...and the link should take you to her version of Sondheim's "I Remember (https://youtu.be/bii6T5EoBPs?t=900)," even though the person who put it on YouTube called it "I Remember Sky."
-
But interestingly, she recorded and performed another song called, "I Remember (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Oc6f5N1JPA)." It's definitely not Sondheim, but I like this one, too.
-
Off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
I remember
sky my first ebay bid. It was on a (then) bootleg VHS copy of Sondheim's Evening Primrose. I waited up for the close of bidding, but was outbid at the last moment. Eventually I did win a copy, but now of course it is commercially available.
And of course, the song DR George posted above is from that piece.
So it all comes full circle.
-
Good morning, all!
-
DR TCB, Topaz is indeed a cutie! After much consideration, I have decided I will try to adopt little Lenox. He's so cute, but Annabelle, Thatch, and Stella give me ERKS (Excessive Romping Kitty Syndrome).
-
Congratulations, DR elmore3003. I hope it all works out.
-
DR Jeanne, in my 40 years in this apartment, we had the following supers:
Mr Gonzalez, who was here when I moved in, a really wonderful man; he was older and lived wth his wife on the first floor; their daughter and grandson lived on the fifth floor.
Alban Greenwich, from one of the Caribbean islands; lived with his wife and children; his wife was an excellent cook; they left to go back to the Caribbean and open a B&B; Alban was a good super for a while, then he stopped caring long before he left.
Steve Trifun, one of the absolute best, took over in early 1999; RIP, Steve.
Bosko, his son-in-law, sacked in 2016/
Val, absolute best, Aug. 2016-July 2018.
? ? ?, didn't last long; I cannot even remember his name.
Jeff, our current.
-
About my refrigerator: I called Jeff, who contacted the service company. The landlord was only involved once the service man declared the fridge terminal.
-
So, today I need a trip to my pharmacy this morning, and I hope to leave here around 9:00. When I return, I plan to spend a couple of hours cleaning out the fridge.
-
DR JohnG, I listened to the last TER post of "Me and My Town" and I thought, too much acting and not enough concern for the musical line. This attitude spoils a lot of revival cast recordings for me.
-
Can we hope there are tax fraud charges in the Con Don's future?

-
Good morning.
-
I'm going to meet the steward at church to work on the landscaping for a while. At least the mornings are nice. The afternoons are still in the upper 90s.
-
But at least that's better than the 110s.
-
The Trumps save Christmas from Joe Biden!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Don’t you hate it when you desperately need a high card - any high card - and you draw ADDUCE?
-
T.O.D.
I used to purchase signed lobby cards on ebay.
I guess my favorite is one from KISS ME KATE. It was already signed by Howard Keel (a former publicity client) and Ann Miller (interviewed her cor my CORONET column), so I knew the signatures were valid.
Over the next year or so, I made it a point to add both Kathryn Grayson (another former client) and Tommy Rall's signatures, and now the card is framed and hanging on my wall.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I think I used to buy plane tickets on eBay. Can that be right?
-
DR Jane re: flu shots. They are doing them differently this year. They are by appointment only. I used to just go early on whatever day it was at my location. Now you have to reserve your spot so only a few people are there at once. But I didn't know that the sign-ups had started. I did get a place that is only 10-15 minute drive. So pretty close. It's just the place near me is 1 month earlier.
-
I have no idea now what my first eBay purchase might have been, but I'd guess a nice hardbound edition of the novel that the Ray Milland movie The Uninvited was based on.
-
I am off to my pharmacy.
-
I am off to my pharmacy.
If your pharmacy thinks you're off, they must be right.
-
And on that note (e-flat), we off.
To...
-
...PAGE TWO.
-
Good morning!
-
I think they said ADDUCE made the trains run on time in Italy.
-
Thanks, everyone. The scene recording went well. We recorded it once....then the director gave a few notes....and we did it again. I'm not sure how it will all turn out....I guess we will see.
I am off until the cast meeting on Sunday.....then record my second scene on Tuesday and my silent bit on Wednesday.
Then I think I'm done.
-
I got onto the internet in October, 1998, and of course joined EBAY which I knew about from my baby sister Molly.
There was no PayPal and so if I won something, I had to go buy a money order and send it out.
I think the first thing I bought was a photograph of Allison Hayes. I did buy several photos and magazines about her in the first few months.
I also purchased some Frances Farmer photos...which is how I met former reader JMK and he brought me here. SO I am at HHW because of EBAY.
I also met former DR MBARNUM on EBAY when we were both buying Allison items.
-
Wasn’t Danny ADDUCE in The Partridge Family?
-
I do not have the intestinal fortitude to watch tonight's "debate."
-
Wasn’t Danny ADDUCE in The Partridge Family?
;D
-
Glad the recording went well, DR Jrand70. It certainly will be interesting to see how it all comes together.
-
I got home before 10:00 - two great taxi drivers! - and the Tizanidine I had taken for precaution knocked me right out. I napped for a little over an hour. I have to take the recyclables to the basement and pick up yesterday's mail. Then I will begin to empty the fridge.
-
I do not have the intestinal fortitude to watch tonight's "debate."
I'm looking forward to it because I expect the Fat Orange Slug to make a complete ass of himself.

I want to see this.
-
Thursday afternoon greetings! Getting myself together to meet Rebecca at our favorite Starbucks for another car coffee.
-
TOD - I'll bet I'm the only one here who first got onto eBay to purchase Vera Bradley handbags...
-
I'm up, I'm up - maybe five-and-a-half hours of sleep, as I had a tiny creative burst at four in the morning.
-
I completely forgot that you had to pay via check or money order in the early eBay days. PayPal didn't come along until December of 1998. I joined that month and it was MUCH easier.
-
I forget that, too, even when thinking about those days.
I wrote many checks, and on some items you had to go out and get a money order. And then you'd wait for your payment to arrive, and in some cases you'd even wait for the check to clear before the seller would ship.
And with all of that, it was still a better world. Something I still miss, and it's now been YEARS since they made this change, is that you not only got to know the sellers, you got a feel for the other regular bidders in a given area of interest because eBay didn't hide the usernames.
And the manual sniping, yes indeed. I got really good at it, and many a night I'd set my clock so I could get up and bid just seconds before an auction closed. And more often than not, I'd win. I was actually quite reluctant to put my trust in sniping software. But I finally did, and eSnipe became my friend. I never looked back.
-
I need something happy in my life. I finished Les Liaisons Dangereuses. Halfway through Caste, depressing but essential. Listening to Seamus Heaney, recent Nobel winner Louise Gluck and other poets read Dante’s inferno. It’s all a little too much “Abandon hope, all ye who enter ...”
-
DR John G. - you just posted a list of 15 feel-good books yesterday! ;)
-
At least, I think it was you.
-
Cue Sondheim's "Remember."
-

They’re all on reserve.

Ooh, whatcha gonna buy me?
-
I would love to buy you something, John! I think that would lift all our spirits.
-
Redonkulous is considered slang, and only certain people use the altered word. Although it means "ridiculous", it's non-standard and markedly informal.
-
Just thought I'd throw that in there.
-

Where did you find the photos?

DR TCB, Topaz is indeed a cutie! After much consideration, I have decided I will try to adopt little Lenox. He's so cute, but Annabelle, Thatch, and Stella give me ERKS (Excessive Romping Kitty Syndrome).
Good luck, Larry!

This must be a Freudian slip! I meant to type that I would not try to adopt Lennox.

Vet bills for four cats is very expensive. When our four cats were young I had plenty of room to run them around and exercise them, especially before bedtime.
-

Memories. When Craig was living with us I would stay in his bedroom at night if he was traveling. He reminded me Kitty needed her nightly exercise even though she was no longer a kitten. During the day I would take her toys and run around the house with her. At night we stayed in his bedroom/bathroom area. Yogi would watch us from his spot on the bed while I played with Kitty for 20 minutes. Sweet days.
-
DR JOHN G I just started Pat Conroy's book MY LOSING SEASON - a non fiction book about his basketball days at the Citadel.
I'm about 10 pages in....I don't know if it's a "feel good" book, but it certainly is entertaining and personable.
-
The Book Shop photos show a much, much more dramatic and flashy design than it ever had before!

I was never brave enough to get sniping software. I just did it live and took my chances. I lost some auctions, but I think I won more than I lost.

Picked up a little package, forwarded a few more orders, did some work on project one, had Wacky Noodles for food and I'll go back to project one shortly.

With a name like Lenox, I'd think twice! Too much like Lynx. LOL.
In all seriousness, Lenox will be lucky to get you as a Dad!

For me Beach Read was ok but not great.

I just toasted a bagel (GF pumpkin bagel from TJ's) in the air fryer. 5 minutes and perfection. I swear, this Ninja-Foodi can do anything!
-
And that - DR's - has been the highlight of the day so far.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Last night DR George mentioned Dianna Reeves. I used to work with her brother in Arlington, VA. She and her band performed at the company Christmas party. They weren't young, but they were still very good.
-
DR Jeanne, in my 40 years in this apartment, we had the following supers:
I think every apartment building should have a super. I live in a small (9units) building that is managed by the owner's daughter. They would benefit by having someone who knows what they're doing.
-
About my refrigerator: I called Jeff, who contacted the service company. The landlord was only involved once the service man declared the fridge terminal.
Yes, but you have a super to do that. Here, we have the blind leading the blind, with many poor decisions and unnecessary inconvenience to the tenants.
-
I do not have the intestinal fortitude to watch tonight's "debate."
I don't, either, but I would like to see the 60 MINUTES interview with the president and Lesley Stahl. It airs on Sunday, but I'm told it's already been posted on Facebook.
-
I need something happy in my life.
I think we could all use some of that now.

I didn't know TJ's had GF bagels. I'll have to check that out!

Yup.

Vibes for happiness in many guises to all DRs!

Yes, she lives in the building, which I see as a big advantage, but doesn't always appreciate when things need attention, IMO. Had she been a homeowner for a few years she'd be far more knowledgable.

I think a lot of people that might not have watched will now tune into the show now to find out what really happened.

I just toasted a bagel (GF pumpkin bagel from TJ's) in the air fryer. 5 minutes and perfection. I swear, this Ninja-Foodi can do anything!
I didn't know TJ's had GF bagels. I'll have to check that out!
DR Jeanne - yes, these were the pumpkin ones, but I believe they have normal ones all year round

I'm glad to hear this. You are struggling with Stella now. I can't imagine adding another kitten.

My ballot was accepted. I have no need to watch a debate.
-
Watching La Cenerentola (Cinderella) instead. Something light. Fun.

I am still waiting to see our ballots were accepted. Hopefully tomorrow.

I wish I wasn't watching the debate.

This seems like the perfect recipe to enjoy whilst watching the debate...

I decided to watch after all.

Finally finished The Man Who Knew Too Much. Listening to a little music, then back to work on project one.
-
I decided to watch after all.
I hope you are glad you are watching.

I wish I wasn't watching the debate.
I'm just listening to it. At least, Trump isn't as bad as he was before. It's like he finally (kinda) got the message. ::)

True we can hear what Biden has to say. Of course threat of getting shut off helps.
-
Eh.
-
Well, I have to leave now. My sister wants me to come over and change out some smoke detectors, so I'll have to watch the end of the debate when I get home.
Be back later.

Watching La Cenerentola (Cinderella) instead. Something light. Fun.
And about a half-hour too long.

Were these people on drugs?

My first eBay purchases were primarily toys like playmobil, Legos, etc and the like, it was a great way of getting discounted toys for the little Vixter

So I joined Noom on September 28. As of this morning I’m down 10 lbs....this weekend I’m going to look into joining the new retro fitness they built about 10 minutes from home
-
If I could lose another 20 by the end of December I’d be very happy....so we’ll see

Great. I am glad Noom is working well for you. I suggested it to a friend but she decided to stick with weight watchers, not that it is working any.

I am reading Alex Trebek's memoir for my book group.
-
I'm home and making some mini-cheesecakes.
-
I almost forgot that I said that I would make some to bring to my mom's tomorrow because she's having some out-of-town friends visit.
-
My parents met Margita and her then-husband and Judy and her then-husband when the men were all stationed in Germany and we all lived in the same stairwell in the army housing.
-
We moved there when I was four years old, and have known them since then.
-
Coincidentally, Margita moved to Spokane and Judy moved to Tacoma and my parents moved to Lacey, so even after all these years, they've lived relatively close to each other and stayed in touch.
-
I have to confess that I have almost no memories of any of their children that I played with when we were all kids, though. ::)

That was nice for all of them.
-
Margita has four sons and one of them lives in Olympia. Whenever Margita comes to town to visit him and his children, Margita would almost always stays with my parents instead of her son at his place! :D

You lived in a stairwell?

Yup. No rooms, just the on stairs.

The CoVid vaccine is going to cost forty dollars per person? What happened to being free for everyone?

$40 sounds like old news. Where did you read this?

$40 sounds like old news. Where did you read this?
It was on the news at 5:00 pm. I am sorry if that is old news.
-
The building that we lived in in Germany had four floors and no elevators, and there were two apartments on each floor, one on each side of each floor. Margita and her family lived right across the stairwell from us, and Judy and her family lived one or two floors down from us.
