Last night I watched TOTALLY UNDER CONTROL. Wow! It is a very powerful documentary. A lot of it I knew, of course, but it was great to have it all laid out in chronological order. And there was a great deal I didn’t know. It was crazy how this whole pandemic has messed with our minds. I had completely forgotten that the whole crisis with the Diamond Princess was only back in February. It seemed like that happened so long ago.

Today, my mom and I are going to my sister's and we'll all have lunch and some of the leftover ice cream and other desserts that my sister had yesterday. I don't know what the main meal will be. It might be pizza. We'll see.

The refrigerator works. Things are cold, and in the freezer things are frozen. It's such a relief.

Last night, after I washed the kitties' dinner dishes and gave them their nightly treat, I took a hot bath. I was covered in schmutz from picking up all the debris from the removal of the old fridge, completely irritated by all of the hurly burly yesterday, and I needed to clean off my body and mind. After the bath, I crawled into bed with three cats and we watched Pete Buttigieg on Margaret Hoover's PBS Front Line and Midsomer Murders. Annabelle and Thatch were brushed, to their utter delight, and Stella wrestled Annabelle.

BK, I loved your classic films story. I get too easily irritated by the musical theatre/cast recording sites that are open to the public, where the average age of the know-it-alls is 20, and they think Les Miserables is an old musical and that nothing happened before Stephen Sondheim created musical theatre around 1970.

I've taken the recyclables to the basement, picked up yesterday's mail, finished kitty cleanup, and ordered a few groceries from the corner bodega. Once the delivery arrives and I put it away, I'll make the bed and lie in it.

I had three years of living on campus within a few blocks of Severance Hall, seeing Szell conduct and basking in the "Cleveland sound". Oddly, I don't remember much about who guest conducted in my next two years there after he died. Robert Shaw, maybe. Boulez. But did I go to hear him? Don't know. Leinsdorf? I wish I'd kept Cleveland Orchestra programs from those years. I don't even have my Mahler Sixth one. I know Maazel became their conductor when I moved to L.A., but I never followed him or the orchestra until their Porgy and Bess album was released a few years later.

Oh! I'd meant to question that, then my brain went right on to some other cockamamie thing. But it's also a jolt to my own memory because I'd forgotten he'd led the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus until the year before I arrived in Cleveland.

He later came up to guest conduct Boito's Prologue to Mefistofele, which the Shaw Chorale had sung on the Toscanini recording that I'd played to death prior to that. Watching those Shaw rehearsals on YouTube a few weeks ago reminded me of that. I got to attend the orchestra reading, which was fascinating because they were sightreading the parts and I found myself witnessing a Cleveland Orchestra stumble-through. It was explained to me that that style of music wasn't their bailiwick, and that this was nothing out of the ordinary for even a world class orchestra. He was patient and guiding, of course, and the performances were wonderful. I think that's the only time I saw him in person.

The line stretched from the front of the building up through a big grassy yard , back down to the parking lot on the rear of the building, wound down through the parking lot to the street, then back up onto another grassy yard, then back along the property line of the building until the rear of the line was only a few feet from where it curved around behind the building

Home from work and a trip to the shops. Dropped some popsicles by Mom's and chatted for a bit. Now I 'm home. DD Ben has something up with his eye, it seems ok, but I have a vet appointment for him on Tuesday just to be sure.

I put my groceries away and should get started on work for tomorrow. I need to get back to my packing. I have 2 stacks of CDs to upload, but that will have to wait for my new CD/DVD-writer to come tomorrow as the one I have decided to finally give up.

I'd like to be done with some stuff so I can relax (maybe outside with a pipe) before bed. It's going to be a long week seeing as though its Halloween Week. Not my favorite time of year. LOL.

What prompted the tour down memory lane is the fact I lost one of the beautiful White Buffalo turquoise earrings I purchased there. The ear straps on my masks knock off my hearing aids. During the rescue I didn't realize I also knocked off my earring. I think I found the jewelry store but they don't seem to carry any turquoise.

Listening to Szell do Mozart. I'll tell you what he does with this kind of music better than anyone else I've heard - he keeps it light and moving right along and it's so helpful. Same with his Haydn and Beethoven. I'm never going to love this music, but Szell makes the best case for it for me and somehow that kind of music sounds better in mono. I still have about five more mono albums and then we'll be into the stereo stuff. I've uploaded half the CDs - 53, and will upload more when I'm further into the set.

My scooter has panels for two colors, red and blue, but I have left the red ones on it; and I think I lost the blue ones.
